You know what screw this place. This post office lost 2 stars with me today. Some time ago, I mailed a return package via this post office. When I later inquired with the company I mailed my return to -- they said that they never received the package So, I checked the USPS tracking number that went along with the package. Nothing. This post office could not even do me the service of a package acceptance scan. Since I had no proof that I mailed my return, no refund for my purchase. God knows what happened to my package. So, today, I went to the post office for yet another return . Did not have a choice since the return labeling/packaging was for USPS. While in line, I spied the manager. I asked her nicely if she could make sure that they scanned my package; so, at the very least, I had proof that my package was dropped off at the post office. Guess what the manager said to me? "We don't have to scan the package for you." Say what. I practically had to plead my case to her to get my package scanned. I told her how my previous package was lost. Her reply. "Maybe the company that mailed the package to you was lying about not receiving it." Right.....or maybe someone in USPS stole my package...Well, even if the company is lying about receiving my package. I have no proof that my package was accepted at the post office in the first place. All you had to do was put the scanner over the bar code...beep beep..half a calorie burned...no sweat off your brow. After much pleading (yes, massa. please, massa), the manager finally had one of the tellers scan my return package, and you know what the manager said to me as I was leaving? "Next time, you will have to pay me if you want to get your packaged scanned again as proof of acceptance." I do not have the words. I do, but they are profane. Why should a customer beg for something that should be a standard and not dependent on the whims of a particular manager or mail clerk? You know what. I dropped off a prepaid return package at FedEX & UPS that same day. You know what both locations did once I dropped off my respective packages. They SCANNED it. Both places went so far as giving me a receipt as proof of acceptance. Imagine that. So, the moral of the story is this.....if you need to send something of value via mail, go ahead and use this post office at your own risk. If you do not mind being able to breath easy at night, pay a little more and go to FedEx or UPS instead. read more

Horrible postal service! They are consistently saying they attempted to deliver a package and they never do. I don't even think the person get's out of the truck and actually attempts! I work from home and have not heard my bell ring with the attempt of a postal worker trying to deliver a package! Lazy postal people! read more

I really try to avoid using this place at all costs. TIPS: If you HAVE to come here, arrive 30 minutes BEFORE they open or bring a book and some earplugs--it'll take a while, and later in the day usually people have crying kids or are yelling about the wait, which usually lasts upwards of 30-50 minutes. Bring I.D. and proof of address--power bill or something. Pay attention--sometimes an employee will come out to get people's package slips--usually packages are back to you within 5 minutes. If you're just buying stamps/supplies, window #5 (far left) is often a shorter line, and designated for this stuff only. Bring cash and card--sometimes one will get you out of there faster. I imagine the management is horrible, and so is the pay there? I always try to be nice to the employees--not only does it make for a better transaction, I've seen them purposely take longer when people in the line yell/complain. Bottom line, go somewhere else if you can, but make the best of it if you have to use them. read more

I really hate this place. They have the worst attitudes of any postal workers I've ever encountered. Unfortunately, I frequently have to go here because my roommate is too lazy to sign for my packages when I'm not home (to be fair, sometimes no one is home. And sometimes someone is home, but the mail person just leaves a notification instead of trying to deliver the package AT ALL because they really are that careless- I've been home when that's happened. But sometimes I can tell someone has been home all day, and they just didn't bother to open the door when the buzzer rang. Anyway...). THE POST OFFICE: First of all, don't even try to get your passport photo taken here. Go anywhere else. Secondly, There's supposed to be a separate pickup window with a separate line, but it's almost always closed so you just have to wait in the regular line- which is always long, no matter what time you go. (On the 5% chance that the pickup window is open but you can't tell because this place is so poorly organized, they WILL treat you like you're stupid and wasting their time for not noticing that the pickup window is open and waiting in the regular line). Save yourself some frustration and just be prepared to wait for at least half an hour. Maybe longer. Sometimes when I take my pink package notification slip to the window, the employee will take it from me, disappear for a minute or two, and come back and claim that the package is not there. I always check the tracking online before I go to the post office, so each time this has happened, I've just told the employee that "I know it is there and I'm not leaving until you find it. Check again!" And they're found it. Every. Single. Time. Because they really are so lazy that they'll claim your package isn't there just so they don't have to look for it. My worst experience BY FAR with this place was a few weeks ago. The guy in front of me in line had a package notification, but the employee- after "checking" for his package- told him that it wasn't there. The following exchange took place. I was surprised that the guy remained level headed and polite until the end: Guy: "Okay. Well I *was* home when someone left this *non-delivery* notification in my mailbox, so that's very frustrating. And this is not the first time that's happened. But can you please check again? I went online and it says it's here, so I'd appreciate it if you could check again." Post Office Employee (POE): "Sir, I don't know what to tell you. Your package must have been returned to the original sender." Guy: "Please, I'm begging you. I'm staring at the tracking notification on my phone, and it's here. Please." POE: "Sir, please move aside so I can help the next customer." Guy: "No, please. These are my grandmother's ashes. (HIS GRANDMOTHER'S ASHES!!!!) Guy: "It's my responsibility to get them and take them home, and my whole family thinks I'm an asshole because they don't understand that this delivery thing isn't my fault. Please." At this point, he started crying. I'm not sure what happened after that because I went to the next window and picked up my package. I asked the employee who was helping me if there was anything she could do for the Guy, but she literally shut the partition in my face and called for the next customer. I just patted him on the shoulder on my way out and told him I was sorry for his loss and I hoped he found his grandmother. read more

I have a valuable package being kept there, but it takes such pains to get it that I might just order another one and make sure I'm home for the delivery. When I previously mentioned the mail not showing up.....that lasted for about 4-6 months. Seriously. The postal carriers are also effort-fully rude. A couple months ago I opened the door for one, said something nice, continued to hold the door while they filled the boxes, and not once did they say anything to me or look me in the eye. I'm sure it's a crappy job but cripes, at least give a nod or something. Still, mail gets put in the boxes maybe 5% of the time, and packages can still disappear (even tracked ones) for a couple days. I've talked to the businesses on the ground floor and have gathered that when one does not find their package despite tracking showing it having been delivered or attempted for delivery, the carrier hasn't even come to the building. Hello, I trace my packages all the time and MOST OF THE TIME when tracker says that it has been delivered... IT WAS NOT. Why? Because every time it says that its been delivered and I'm not able to find it, I would visit the post office with my tracking number and most of the time it is there! Is the mailman too lazy to pick up a pen and write the notice that says the package is at the post office??? This has happened way too many times and I am so fed up of this kind of service. Also to mention, that I have lost packages from this station as well. Also at the post office, the lines are alway long and the service is SLOW. Just to buy stamps, I have to wait in the line for 30minutes? I hope the bodegas pick this up and start selling stamps so I can just walk in/walk out in a matter of minutes. Most of the employees at this station look like they rather be outside doing something else. The staff was super friendly to me, helpful when I had questions about pricing etc and the line went very quickly. BELIEVE ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS YOU READ HERE! I've lost several packages due to their incompetence. Just disappeared. Online it said 'notice left,' but there was no notice, and the package was not at the post office. The worst part is I was home all day waiting for the package, and they never even rang my doorbell! Unbelievable. And of course, there was 0 resolution. When it's not busy (which it usually is) the staff working behind the desk is helpful enough, but it still doesn't make up for their 0 star mail delivery. Been going here for a couple weeks, and I've never had a bad experience. I sell records online domestic and international and have never had a lost/damaged package to my client. Just chiming in because I see a lot of negative reviews, which I have a theory about. I think when people have good experiences, they don't say shit, but when a little thing erks you like oh my gosh she wasn't smiling, then you feel a compulsion to get it out online. So just balancing the scales here. I must have slighted our postal worker in a previous life because he or she WON'T KNOCK for deliveries and it's a miracle if you even receive a slip to go pick it up. I prepared a package at home using the print label service online. I made the dire mistake of forgetting to leave it out for the mailman to do the requested pickup, which necessitated a visit to this wretched place of misery. I should have only had to drop the package off, as there was really no need for me to perform any kind of transaction. After all, I had already paid online, in addition to making all other necessary specifications. But when I asked the troll behind the counter if I could just drop the package off, she hatefully informed me that it was required that I wait in the line of purgatory in order to "ask her that question." As the people in line looked at me with evil eyes, I felt forced to comply, reluctantly. 30 min later, when I finally arrived at the end of the line, I simply gave her the package, and she asked "anything perishable?" to which I replied "no". She then replied "thank you." This exchange lasted approximately 3 seconds. Infuriated, I asked why that required me to wait in line for 30 min. She replied that it was policy, and they were required by the institution to force everyone to wait in line for this worthless and trivial purpose. I then tore my robe, shaved my head, and cursed her at that condemned place before storming out in anger. It seems that this policy serves no practical purpose, as the mailman who was intended to pick up the package would have not been able to ask me the question she was "required to ask." The question required no time expenditure anyway, so those in line would not have been inconvenienced in any way if I had been allowed to simply drop it off without waiting. It's almost as if the methodologies of this facility were custom tailored for intent purpose of inspiring hatred, anger, and torment. Everyone must avoid this place at all costs. It is truly more treacherous and frigid than the 9th circle of hell. I'm quite certain that beyond the bullet proof glass, beyond the wall that obstructs our view, within the depths of that building exists Satan, waist deep in an icy ground, flapping his wings and creating the oppressive winds that freeze New York City. read more

The worst post office in America. A black hole. Ineptitude, Carelessness, Hostility Can only be explained by the presence of a true-life, incompetent villain in high management, here, who for whatever reason the USPS can't replace. They won't deliver packages, and only half of the time notify that the packages are waiting. Worst-case, you have no idea anyone ever sent something to you. Best-case, you learn you have to come in and pick up a package that should have been left with you (this is how this thing is supposed to work, in our democracy, right?). One presumes the back is disorganized, because it takes forever. The line is always extremely long. My past five visits have all exceeded 45 minutes. I've spent the money to reorder purchases trapped here rather than subject myself to a visit. The kind of post-office that will have you consider a career in politics. read more

Yknow, every one else on Yelp had such crappy things to say about this place I was ready for battle going in. But I gotta say, the folks who worked here were super friendly and helpful. I waited about 7 or 8 minutes--totally reasonable in my book--to purchase a money order, which I'd not done before. The guy laughed with me as I messed up some basics (i.e. Debit card not credit card, duh) and helped me quickly. Another guy next to me was trying to resolve and issue w a damaged package, and I could tell the woman helping him was on his side, equally frustrated w the process but trying to help him assess his options and take good care of him. Listen, it wasn't the Plaza Hotel or anything, but I think these people are doin the best with crappy conditions. USPS clearly does not have enough staff but the employees here were attentive, cheerful, honest and made an earnest attempt to help. I think if you go in w a good attitude and treat the staff with respect, you'll find this place is a friendly, under resourced neighborhood service. This is the worst post office ever. They never deliver packages - they never even leave slips! There is someone home all of the time and I consistently receive text notifications through a seller that a package was delivered when there was clearly no attempt made. (We can see the mailboxes from our sofa in the front window). I have had packages left for us who belong to an address down the street. We have also had our carrier shove mail for the entire building into our box forcing us to redistribute it into the other boxes. Lines are atrocious, staff can be rude. There's a letter slot but no package drop so you have to stand in line just to drop off a box. Today a poor woman waited in line for 30 minutes and was turned away because she wanted to buy 6 stamps instead of an entire sheet. They desperately need to overhaul this station and install some self-service machines in here for package confirmations, stamps, self-service shipping, etc. Amazon filed a formal complaint on my behalf to the USPS. Please do your part and do the same. I don't think they will do anything unless we create some noise. In the meantime, send packages through any other carrier and try to divert items to your workplace, since you may never get them. I've called 5 post offices and they have all told me to call different post offices. At least those post offices answer- this one rings for 45 seconds and then a blaring "BEEP". Minus Meh.....This is an update of my last less than terrible review of the USPS PO at Wycoff Avenue in Bushwich, Brooklyn. My pre-paid return to a well know internet retailer after several tries at scheduling pick-ups by both the company and myself finally happened by guess who?, my favorite postal worker, the foot pusher. It was never scanned properly and somehow vaporized into space after I handed it over never to be seen again. Another delivery wound up in a distant post office somewhere lost for an extended period of time only to be sent back to the seller. Oh well, I really didn't want that, did I? It is very infrequently that I wish I could give zero stars. However, this is one of those occasions. I went this morning to drop off a package - postage was already paid, but it was too large for a mailbox, so I figured I'd leave it in a parcel drop box. I arrived 10 minutes after they opened, and the line was already 18 people deep. I did a quick scan of the small establishment and didn't see an open window for package drop-off, as some post offices have. (I also noticed they didn't have any self-serve machines - good to note for the next trip there that I will never take.) I felt that it would be absurd to wait 30+ minutes for the two tellers to handle the large number of patrons before me only to simply hand them the box and be on my merry way. Thus, as a few people in front of me in line suggested, I walked up toward the window to inquire if there was a place I could simply leave it. Both tellers saw me but avoided eye contact and ignored me completely. I walked to another empty window where I saw someone behind the glass, working (I presume). The exchange went as follows: Me: "Excuse me, is there a--" Employee: "Gotta wait in line!" Me: "No, but I already--" Employee: "Gotta wait in line!" Me: "There's not a place where I can--" Employee: "Gotta wait in line!" I meant to mumble it under my breath, but I must have audibly said, "F*ck it," because a few patrons laughed. I have never despised the US Postal Service as much as I have since I moved to the 11237 zip code. I don't remember the last time I had a packaged delivered by them successfully. There have been multiple instances where they "tried to deliver it"--despite the fact that I was in my very tiny apartment at the time that they "tried" and have an incredibly loud buzzer that would alert me to anyone trying to contact me. I then try to reschedule delivery... And nothing happens. And I reschedule it again... And it still doesn't come. Over and over I try until the package has been returned to sender and I am left struggling to figure out how this system is in place. Keep in mind this is through THEIR website using the methods THEY suggest. They also tend to not actually leave attempted delivery slips--another clue that maybe they aren't ACTUALLY trying. Finally I managed to figure out the location of the purgatory my packages go to sit (a feature that I'm sure is included on the attempted delivery slip), and I got someone on the phone once--really and truly an accomplishment to even get to someone--who was helpful and scheduled a delivery for me the next day. Every time since has just been a TREAT. It is consistently the worst customer service I have ever experienced and some truly horrible attitudes. It makes me feel bad for whoever that one nice employee was that they have to work in that hostile environment all day. I wouldn't be surprised if they quit, and I hope for their sake that they did. In the meantime, I'll be over here, ordering things to be delivered through UPS and FedEx in hopes that I never have to deal with the 11237 post office ever again. A girl can dream, right? read more

The worst post office, if it not stealing its rudeness and disrespect you have to deal with in there. The supervisor is very disrespectful. At least the one for saturday mornings. The drivers do what ever they want. They claimed they deivered a package but i have cameras and they never came to deliver. The driver stole my package. I try not to go thru usps when shipping or receiving anything. They take your money but do not care about what happens to your package or where it ends up. For example in the pics attached, they do not even care about customer safety. Look at this fan and wiring that is poking the the sealing. This is the worst post office out there and it's so annoying that it's the one that corresponds to my address. They're either understaffed or the people they have are useless. Always a long line, you get greeted with an attitude, takes so long to pick up packages, and it's so disgusting inside. Filthy and unorganized. If 2 stars is "I've experienced better", I have to give this post office 3 stars (at least for NYC post offices). The hours suck, the staff is grumpy, what else is new. Sometimes they are nice. PRO TIPS: - Go before 11:00am on Saturdays - SERIOUSLY. The line gets long after idiots wake up late and it's worth avoiding. - There is a package pick-up window to the left of the main line -- if you have a pink slip and this window is open, GO HERE, it's faster. - Keep your headphones out, sometimes if the package pick-up is closed and the main line gets long, a manager will pop their head out the employee door and offer to get packages for those with slips. - Bring your Kindle. read more

This post office can see the length of the lines at very certain times. I can't understand WHY they wouldn't double up for an hour & move it along. Then, instead of having line out the door for 3 hours in the afternoons they could bring that to half. Have happy customers & get twice the work done. I understand the employee situation they claim. But the price of stamps gets higher & higher while I don't see the mail moving faster, lines lowered or customer service improving. And while I understand about gas prices, I've never seen that stamp price lower when gas goes cheap.... Must say I have gotten good service at the window when I ask for my sons military boxes. I will be looking into the Westbury Long Island PO branch who hold my mother there are no such boxes made by the post office..... Funny, I get them all the time at Wyckoff branch. Never follow through on official USPS redelivery requests either online, or if I put the pink slip with the OPTION TO REDELIVER in the mailbox - they just leave it there with the new mail for each day. So I went to pick up the package which I usually have to do, and they said they can't find it. So....? Ok. I have made a complaint about the redelivery at this post office through the USPS, nothing happened. If you hate your life and job that much then don't be there, is all I have left to say. Missing about 6 checks, a renewed license, some christmas cards and letters (within the past month). Mailman from the USPS said maybe we need a bigger mailbox so people won't steal our mail. Mind you, it's a lockable mailbox where fingers cannot fit through. So how exactly will that fix the issue? They need to throw the whole post office away. I have to amend my review from a while back because I've had some very good experiences since. There is one very unpleasant woman who made my visit miserable a few times and I'm not sure if she still works there. I feel like they've really been trying to up their game. It all depends when you go what kind of experience you'll have. There are some really nice, very efficient workers here. A lot of the problem is people coming in unprepared, like with open boxes and no address written on them. This happens all the time. They are understaffed at busy times. There is minimal to no AC. They have crappy weekday hours (9-5, right when most ppl are already at work). It's hard being there. But I don't feel like they're not trying. If you can, I recommend going on a Saturday between 10:30-11:30. read more
