Not much else is nearby save a bank, the railroad tracks, a small park featuring a commemorative cannon, and a few other buildings and shops. It's such a tiny but friendly town! The postmaster and I talked about the price of stamps going up to $.60, and she said soon to be $.63, to which I responded that I still find it fascinating that the postal service can send a letter from one place to another for even that small price... I'll happily use the mail system for my letters, bills, thank you cards and greeting cards! The art of letter writing isn't dead after all! Hours: M-F 8:00-12:30, 1:30-4:30, Saturday 9:30-11:30.

Even after being refused a refund, I asked to speak with the lead employee, and that never happened. Avoid this specific location at ALL costs, as it is a trash location, and blatantly robbed me.

And so for my last three weekends at Fort Lee, I paid separate visits to this post office to package my clothing home and ship it to Washington. On all three occasions, the result was success, although I did pay more than I would have liked to. This place is fairly small and seemingly always busy, yet the line appears to move at a rapid pace even without only two or so people staffed at the counter. There is a table in the back where you can set your box down as you assemble it. If you're lucky, maybe somebody before you has already purchased tape and left it on the table for you to use for free. Otherwise, you'd have to pay the $3.99 or whatever it is to buy a roll of tape that you'll probably only ever use once. Reo is a nice guy who works there; he says he's a former Marine and he asks customers the question "What's the difference between Army tanks and Marine tanks?" The answer is "Army tanks have backup lights," and it supposedly means that the Army tanks are retreating. I don't get it, but he's a cool dude who taught me that ballpoint pens are great for tearing apart tape. He also told me weird things like making the return address some location close to the shipping address so that it at least has a backup location to go to in case the package is shipped back and I'm already gone from Fort Lee. Overall, it's just your average post office on a military installation.

When I got inside, there was one person in front of me at the desk. There was one person working the desk while all the others were in the back watching inappropriate videos out loud, cursing, and laughing at the videos. After 20 minutes of waiting, the line was wrapped out the door. The first lady was trying to reopen a closed P.O. Box that belonged to someone else (Steve who lives in WV). Another lady was called to the front to take over & the customer asked if she could come back tomorrow with Steve on FaceTime to show his ID & mortgage to have his P.O. Box reopened. The post office lady said, "we aren't supposed to do that", but she didn't specifically say she wouldn't do that. She let that customer leave thinking she could do that the next day without being 100% clear that she couldn't. When I got my turn, I had a horrible attitude. I just wanted my receipt so that I could leave. I got it and left with the line even longer. This office is horribly unprofessional & I see why their rating is so low. I plan to complain to USPS directly with the information about that P.O. Box issue because it is unethical & no one else is able to open/reopen a P.O. Box via FaceTime. So, don't pick and choose to do so when it's convenient. These people need customer service and ethics training ASAP!

Today's driver delivered the mail and not the package to our address. Instead the driver discovered the mistake and sped down our road like his truck was on fire. My complaint deals with the driver's rate of speed in a residential neighborhood while children are outside playing and riding bikes. It is an unsafe and disrespectful act.

Unbeknownst to him, a USPS mediator was in line behind the lady and intervened without de-escalation in Andy's rude behavior. It is disheartening to witness anyone being treated poorly. I want to express my appreciation for the other patrons in the post office who voiced their support for the woman and her young daughters. Andy's behavior was unacceptable. This time it was 9:00 am and no one was in line ... wow that's a first. The clerk was friendly and welcoming. I complimented her on how well stocked the front was. Neat and organized. She expressed how she does this every morning she works. All your postal needs were there. Different size packing boxes and envelopes, cards, priority mail flat rate boxes and envelopes. A variety of stamps for all of us who still Send Mail. Yes I grabbed some. I was a happy customer when I left. Thank you Chester Post Office for all your hard work at delivering our mail.
