4/22/26 @ 3:25 pm: It's unfortunate that I have to change my review. I stopped by to get a receipt for a package I was mailing. When I got inside, there was one person in front of me at the desk. There was one person working the desk while all the others were in the back watching inappropriate videos out loud, cursing, and laughing at the videos. After 20 minutes of waiting, the line was wrapped out the door. The first lady was trying to reopen a closed P.O. Box that belonged to someone else (Steve who lives in WV). Another lady was called to the front to take over & the customer asked if she could come back tomorrow with Steve on FaceTime to show his ID & mortgage to have his P.O. Box reopened. The post office lady said, "we aren't supposed to do that", but she didn't specifically say she wouldn't do that. She let that customer leave thinking she could do that the next day without being 100% clear that she couldn't. When I got my turn, I had a horrible attitude. I just wanted my receipt so that I could leave. I got it and left with the line even longer. This office is horribly unprofessional & I see why their rating is so low. I plan to complain to USPS directly with the information about that P.O. Box issue because it is unethical & no one else is able to open/reopen a P.O. Box via FaceTime. So, don't pick and choose to do so when it's convenient. These people need customer service and ethics training ASAP! read more

I wish that I could submit no star or negative stars. Once again the Hopewell, VA post office continues to amaze me with their inability of good customer service and the untimely mail deliveries. Today's driver delivered the mail and not the package to our address. Instead the driver discovered the mistake and sped down our road like his truck was on fire. My complaint deals with the driver's rate of speed in a residential neighborhood while children are outside playing and riding bikes. It is an unsafe and disrespectful act. read more

This is THE WORST post office ever, they dont answer phones, they mark packages delivered and wont actually deliver it till days later. the Post Master? the rudest person iv ever met, give you attitude, never smiles, always nasty to your face, very lazy. First time using this establishment, bad weather was coming, but needed a certified letter mailed ASAP. Upon entering , two customers were waiting. I go to fill out proper paperwork and pen at desk, in not working. I approach the desk to ask for one. The employee at desk has a fan sitting on the counter making it difficult for the elderly customer she is speaking to, hear her, as she is being rude, and short with her. After she stops talking I ask for a working pen. She proceeds to tell me to go to the other room . So, we did. Other customers were in line waiting to use this area. I tell my son to go to the car to get one for me, and go back over to the other side where there are no longer any customers. Needless to say she and I had words after she asked me if " I was mad". She could of easily supplied me a pen, but was perfectly OK, us having to go get our own. I called several times , within days to follow and phone was NEVER answered. Federal building and employees not taking calls. No post master in site, Made sense their front desk employees could care less about the community's needs. I left and weren't to another office 20 minutes away ,as I at that point didn't trust her with my mail. They don't care about their customers. read more

I ordered a package from Amazon. To this day I don't know why they chose USPS to deliver it. Got a notification at 9:14 on a Saturday morning saying they couldn't deliver because my mailbox was full!!!! What! It was a box that can't fit in my mailbox. They never came through my block! I ran my ring camera back no activity on my block that morning. I called the post office the nasty man that answered the phone argued with me telling the tracking number doesn't exist. Said no packages had left the building. Called Amazon got apologies. Still no package. Then the audacity of it all was later the postal driver came by dropped my mail with a notice . They tried to deliver but they missed me. Whattt I was in my house! This generation is the worst! Nasty rude and with no regard to the crap they do. This is why I do almost everything online. They said they made a delivery to my house but couldn't deliver package. There was two people there with windows open plus the notification that they are suppose to leave was not found anywhere not the door or mail box. So somebody lying and I need my package payed for 2 day shipping read more

This is one old Post Office but it does the job well. There is a ally in the back where the drive up mail boxes are. There is a parking lot on the side of the building. When you walk in you come to some stamp machines where you can purchase stamps. Now if you need some service head over to the counter. They have the post and ropes for line control if needed. But every time I've been there they have not had them in use. The folks that work at this location are great. They get you taken care of as quickly as possible, so what more can you ask of them. read more

The worst service I ever experience. I left my wallet there Tuesday afternoon right before they closed. Came back the next day and they said they mailed my wallet? And I quote " when people leave there wallet at the post office they don't come back." Wow so someone who back trace there steps, with all the important stuff , like my MONEY!! But they said it will arrive in 2days is been 3months. And no one has talked to me or gotten in touch with me and they post no tracker on my wallet? And I called the manager, and she gets an attitude every time. By far the worst post office to ever go too. The employees sucks and the management sucks also. read more

They lady who works here was completely rude to me wouldn't help me at all she hung the phone up on me when I asked for her bosses name she wouldn't give it to me! Tracking a package from Texas, tracker said package was out for delivery on Saturday May 9th 2020 by 8 pm. Mail truck went past my house at 8:10 pm, did not stop. Checked tracker at 9 pm it showed package was delivered at 7:30 pm BS. I have been told that mail on the truck has to be delivered same day and if the carrier does not they LIE and mark it as delivered. GOVERNMENT . read more

Worst post office I have ever been to. Slow rude employees that seem to hate everyone including them selves. They are unhelpful and very rude. Packages are never on time. You would be better off paying someone to walk it to your house. It's been this way for the last 6 years I have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with this outdated slow system full of spiteful employees with all the personality of a zombie. Spend the extra money for ups or fed ex unless you like being surprised when your package shows up at some random time other than the time frame they give you. read more

I have been a resident of Hopewell for a bout 15 years now. Whenever I go into the post office I do notice a lot of elderly patrons. Today I have personally encountered the postmaster A. Hall who is very rude and obnoxious. Purchased a PO Box on November 29 and as of yesterday December 5 the key did not work. So today I came in, asked the young lady that helped me get the PO Box why she stated that I would have access to it the very next day and did not. She claimed that she changed it the same day that I paid $60 for it! Her and I went to the box and miraculously the key worked today. I asked to speak with the postmaster because I feel the young lady did not do what she said she was going to do and now my mail is being returned to sender. Instead of the postmaster introducing herself and being professional she was very rude wanted to see my ID not ask what the problem was or did I have a receipt. I have contacted consumer affairs while I was standing in the post office and a elderly woman said that she is mean to her all the time! This woman does not need to be in customer service AT ALL! I have lived at the same address in Hopewell for over five years and experienced several occasions, two within the past week, where I have received phone calls that mail has been returned to the sender stamped "No Such Address, Unable to Forward". The mail box is well marked with the house number and has been since the house was built in 1963, so I'm not sure why these letters are being returned. read more
