Glad we waited around to inquire about the details. Huge waste of time (as you need to schedule 4 weeks in advance) and energy. Very poor communication skills.

Not much else is nearby save a bank, the railroad tracks, a small park featuring a commemorative cannon, and a few other buildings and shops. It's such a tiny but friendly town! The postmaster and I talked about the price of stamps going up to $.60, and she said soon to be $.63, to which I responded that I still find it fascinating that the postal service can send a letter from one place to another for even that small price... A few years ago I had a package sent that the sender forgot to include my apt number on. My regular mailman had the day off and I just happened to be grabbing the mail and saw that the package was not delivered. We tracked it and saw it was being sent back the the sender, so we rushed to the post office. The person behind the counter got the tracking info from us and decided to check for it and found it right away. Another time recently my mailman saw me near the mailbox and gave me a shout because he had a package that was too big for my mailbox and would've had to be picked up from the post office otherwise. This location does get really busy, there are a lot of apartments nearby in walking distance. Sometimes they are understaffed, but that is the case almost everywhere. Everyone I have worked with here has been professional.

The post office is past the railroad tracks, but we tooled around to check out the library, the caboose, the historic cannon, the farm house, Halligan Park and the sprawling Victorian home. But of course for me, the post office was the main attraction! Rachel, the clerk running the show was extremely pleasant and welcoming! She gave me some history of the village, telling me that there used to be a general store with a post office here! It has since burned down, but she had some vintage photos of the previous post office on the wall (see photos). She had a huge binder of collectible stamps, and I purchased about $100 worth! This one in Warfield, (which used to be a railroad town but has since seen a decrease in population which according to statistics from 2024 is now 34) has vintage brass post offices boxes and is neat as a pin!
