My package stated it was "out for delivery" but did not arrive with my mail. I called to check on it and they guy who answered was sooooooo rude and dismissive. He basically told me it doesnt matter what it says on the website or app and to just wait until it arrives. Absolutely the worst post office on the planet! I went in today at 9:15am, there were only 4 people in line ahead of me, with 2 people being helped at the desk. I thought "great, be out of here in a jiffy". WRONG!!! 40 minutes standing, waiting in line. To me it didn't appear that any of the customers had complicated transactions or had mail to be picked up that couldn't be found (been there before when that had happened). One customer was getting a money order... for crying out loud it shouldn't take 15 minutes to create a money order! The folks that work here are just SLLLOOOWWWW! And on top of that you shouldn't have a person working who's not been properly trained and appears lost & incompetent, requiring the only other person working the desk to help her complete transactions. Once I was at the desk my very simple transaction of shipping a large flat rate box to my son who's in the military took 8 minutes. My regular post office (Pelton Center in San Leandro) that I usually take my business to (& I absolutely adore Richard ) gets me handled in just a couple minutes & that's while asking me how I am, how my son is doing and so on... Recommend avoiding this post office located in Castro Valley unless you have an unlimited amount of time to waste. read more

I haven't been to this post office. This is a review for the substitute postal officer we had today (Mr. Huang?). He attempted to deliver our package twice and patiently explained the fees and processes. Our regular post officer is awesome too. I'm missing a package, tried to call to find out where it is. I dialed three times let it ring forever, they picked up the phone and simply hung up all three times. Twice within a week alone; I received packages that were not mine. ( I delivered them of course, but why should I do their job? Other than those folks deserve their packages.) Someone really needs to look into the problems going on at this site. After reading all the reviews I can see that it has been an ongoing issue for some time. The worst post office ever. You wait in line forever one person behind the counter, chaos in the lobby, machines don't work, people trying to up post office box mail on the outside. Rude, unhelpful people work there, not sure why they work there at all. Not sure why they are working with people they should be in the back not working with the publicl. This post office never ever answers their phone.I am disabled and can't just walk in down at the post office.I will go above their heads to make a major complaint about their service.I live in a mobile home park.There are 8 mobile home parks on this street.The substitute delivery person who delivered today January 27th to the 3913 Castro Valley Blvd addresses never gets my packages to me.I don't know where he takes them to but they do not come to me.He takes over for Frank the Mexican guy who is very good but this Asian guy is lousy.Please find out where my pkgs are going and fire this Asian guy who does a half assed job. read more

I want to add another bad review, hope somebody from management will read any of them and do anything. In the office work goes very slow, useless, they don't care that line is to the door, can go to break when they want without replacement clerk. Delivery is bad, they destroyed my large envelopes by bending instead of at least putting in the closet, after all I can not get my item for 2 days, simply can not find. HORRIBLE JOB, GUYS! Time hire somebody young and smart and fast! If possible I would not give even one star! read more

Castro valley has the worse service ever ., they don't help you over the phone and if you go In person there is not enough people working so is always full with bad service , also I complain about my mail getting lost and they denied the whole thing .... I been getting my neighbors mail and I been telling them but since my mailman retire 3 months ago I had 3-4 different mailman ..... I even chase the mail man once because I saw him delivering my stuff to next door neighbor ... And the post master just keep washing hands off because it would just make excuse after excuse .... So far this is bad and getting worse by the years ( if they don't like working in the post office they should give the job to someone else ) they should get re evaluated ., really I think they hate their jobs . we are getting our mail delivered after 6pm. and alot of times i get the guy up the streets mail- my next comment is not meant to be mean its what ive seen. i was driving down redwood road and there was a postal truck with an older looking lady in it-she had big glasses on and a hat- she was trying to make a turn-she was half way over into my lane and up on the curb- maybe they need younger ppl with better eyesight- idk but something needs to be done- read more

I live in Seattle & my parents live in Castro Valley. I mailed them a card (with a gift card inside) certified on Dec 20th. I tracked it on 12/22 on the usps website. The website said that a notice was left that said that they attempted delivery. My parents never got this notice. I finally got a chance to speak to the Castro Valley post office on 12/29 (since they closed early on 12/24) & someone said that the mail was there. I was about to ask for a redelivery, but it dawned on me that my parents have a "beware of dog" sign on their gate which is at the bottom of a long driveway. I asked if this might be the reason my parents hadn't received their mail. The person said that probably was the reason & that if I had it redelivered that another notice would be left (of course I mentioned again that a notice was never left). I made sure that my parents could pick it up at the post office. On 12/30, my mother went to the CV post office to pick it up. After waiting 20 minutes in line, she was told that it wasn't there. On 12/31, I spoke to Barbara, the supervisor, to find out what was going on!!! Not only did she find the mail, she read me the certified mail tracking #, which matched the tracking # I had on my certified mail receipt. I made sure that my parents could pick it up at the post office & gave them Barbara's name & the tracking #. On 1/3, my parents went to the CV post office to pick up the mail. They were told once again that it wasn't there. My mother said, "What? Does this tracking # I have not work?" The people at the post office looked again & found it!!!! THANK GOD!!!!!! I'm sorry to say that Barbara was very helpful, but it seems like the other people don't know what they're doing (or maybe the post office is very disorganized). Needless to say, I will NEVER EVER EVER send anything to my parents using certified mail again. I hope that when they do leave notices that they mention reasons for not being able to deliver (such as "beware of dog" sign). Also, since regular mail still has a chance of getting lost, I'll be using UPS & FED Ex. read more

This post office, Castro Valley, should be closed. I call them and they never call me back even when the assistance manager stated that the manager would. Two weeks ago I took a package that I wanted to refuse and return to sender. You guessed, I am paying for that item right now; why because this post office would not give me a receipt for the item so there is no way to track it. They knew it would never reach the sender because I believe they kept it. I got witnesses that were in line to give me their info to prove that I gave the box to the clerk, I just had a feeling that I was going to have problems, and I did . This is a governmental agency you would think that if you gave them something they would make sure that all care possible would be taken to insure all packages are deliver. I will write my congress women and the President letting them know I thing the post office should be closed and these thieves put out of business. There have been so many inside thefts there so I'm told, that it now time to take action and close the postal system down and let Fedx and UPS take over the delivers.
