2 of 3 USPS similar reviews. This is not my usual SL USPS, but I was in the area and Googled the closest one to me at the time; what a fail. Why is there a USPS in the middle of a mall!?! Part of the reason I came was just to see if Google was wrong, lol. Quality/Quantity - Keep in mind I am grading on a curve... The low rating is due to the comparison with all the other Post Offices that I frequent... See other reviews; Reno (3 Stars) and Alameda (4 stars). The lobby is not open 24/7. I guess I am spoiled with my Alameda and Reno post offices. I made the mistake on the 1/20/25 (a holiday) of trying to drop off letters (5 inches worth; I know, due to my travels, I have not checked my mail for a long time) and a package in 3 SL post offices. Atmosphere - Decent size lobby, again too bad they were closed. Homeless here today, so I understand why they are closed during non business hours. The other SL USPS that I went to today had homeless people also. Plenty of mall parking, but so many bad drivers. Service - 2, barely good enough. Not even any self service... Price - N/A, see their websites. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. This is an "independent" agency of the executive branch of our US government. You have an amazing history dating back to 1775, but I will not go into that here. read more

This is by far the most abysmal post office I have ever been to and I have been post-office'ing most of my adult life. On occasion there is "nice" staff. However, most of the staff is amazingly hostile and do not seem have any social/customer skills training. The added is how unbelievably old, dirty and broken down this place is in general. Then you throw in the base line "customer service" . Wait a minute, am I in the DMV? It sure feels like it. Went in to mail a document and wanted to make sure I had proof it had been delivered. Maria helped me and was super patient and sent my mail out with exactly what I needed. Went in on a Monday at noon and there was no line!! read more

This Post Office is located in the San Leandro Plaza and is open on Saturdays!! When I do have to mail a package, this is where I go!! The main reasons for that is that they usually have multiple windows open and they are open on Saturdays, the only day that I really have time for this. Now, sometimes on said Saturdays there's a long line here, but it moves along decently. The postal workers here are friendly and polite also!! read more

I've used this location several times now and really have been amazed with their service. During these challenging times, especially when the lines went out the door during the holidays, there was a nice woman that greeted me and everyone and asked us what services will we be using. She was knowledgeable, efficient, and some were able to skip the line by coming in for simple service and paying via credit card. Best part, you have a multitude of goodies like 85 Bakery right next door, Safeway, a Boba place, a Sushi house and a quick to go Chinese food right across the way and not too mention, plenty of parking. Oh almost forgot - Peet's coffee is only two blocks away. Woot-woot!! Kudos to all the USPS workers and truly appreciate your service. Cheers! read more

I forgot to put a return address on my package. One of the postal clerks gave me a piece of paper to write it on then when I came back to send my package out she's I asked if I could borrow a piece of tape and she said no it's against the rules... well that's a stupid rule what kind of customer service is that where you can't spare one piece of tape to tape on a return address. If they were regular retail they'd have gone out of business long ago. read more

The line is long. I waited at least 20 minutes. I was told that government checks came last week and people are here for money orders. There's good social distancing spacing and most of the people are patient. I just needed stamps. The two staff were very nice and accommodating. Even when a Karen interrupted me during my transaction saying the staff cheated her out of $00.10, the postal clerk was cool. read more

As with all post offices, they are understaffed and it can get busy. They are strict to closing hours and won't let you in even if you are a second late, but these are to be expected. The workers are friendly and helpful. And although I can't stay they would really go above and beyond, they do a good job at what they are hired to do. I have a PO Box here, and love how convenient it is. I am check my mail when I am doing my errands. The post office is located next to the market, and restaurants so it makes it easy to take care of multiple tasks at once. TIP: they are always busy at lunch hours and near the end of the day. So avoid those hours. read more

I had the MOST appalling service from a postal worker here (see the second paragraph!). After "helping" me with my packages for an hour, he couldn't figure out how to ship out a small parcel to the UK. He had me fill out several forms and change envelopes twice, and he finally decided he didn't want to do it and he essentially threw a temper tantrum: He canceled EVERY SINGLE PACKAGE he scanned into the database (and hour's worth of work!) and then wanted to send me back into a long line to get help from someone else. This was totally out of left field, I was there with two small children, and when I said it didn't make sense for me to have to have all that work canceled only to go back into a very long line, he stuck out his hand in my face and screamed, "talk to the hand! Get back in line!" over and over. The most curious thing is that I followed all his directions, I was respectful; I did nothing to provoke this. He just got frustrated and couldn't handle himself. He continued his tantrum, cursing at me in front of my 2 and 4 year old. I was so shocked that I did nothing but cry silent tears in frustration at this treatment. People in line were shocked too, and they were taking his name down. Meanwhile, after reversing all my charges, he up and left. The other worker helped me out, saying that this other guy just "gets like that sometimes." In what world and in what job is this acceptable? Talk about feeling vulnerable in a place where they know where you live! This guy is unsafe and should NOT be allowed to work with people. read more

I really appreciate and respect postal workers working during the pandemic. There are things that I needed to get to family and loved ones and I could not have done so without these folks showing up during these times. They were so friendly and helpful and made sure people were following social distancing in a respectful way. I've been to this location before, but am just more appreciative this time around. read more

A negative zero I've been coming to this post office nearly 33 years and those 33 years I've been paying on my PO box on time those time when my payment is due a reminder letter put in my PO box letting me know I'll have a upcoming payment on the PO box. being busy I'll always be never keep track on my due date payment my PO box I'll know I'm was getting close I start checking to see any reminder letter in my box even at the end of July I have not see no reminder letter so I'm assuming it will be the month of August. Today August 12th something tells me to go and check my PO box at the post office sure enough my PO box was closed so I went in and talked with this lady and told her that my PO box is closed also never received a reminder letter then she she tell me I supposed to know when my due date on my PO box is due and of course I was pretty angry about this every 6 month I received one she just was no help as I was get ready to pay for my PO box for the next 6 months to put salt on the wound she charged me a past due amount that really pissed me off I went on and pay shaking my head. When my 6 month is due I'm going to drop my PO box at this post office is this the kind of treatment a long time customer have to go through this there's no honor to be a long time customer I could see this now for 33 years of business with this post office throughout the years doing business with this post office early years I met a lot of good employees that work there and they got to know me very well now it had changed and it's not customer friendly I'm done with it. read more

I have been going to this post office for 15+ years. Yes, the post office is small and yes, the lines can be out the door. I have never found the staff rude and not willing to answer questions or suggest ways to save money on your shipment. As far as being out of supplies, that is a management issue which the clerks have no control over. This post office serves the neighborhood in the surrounding area and it's so much safer than catching the bus or driving to Oakland. I live in Oakland and I prefer to drive to this post office than to drive to 92nd Ave in Oakland. I feel much safer in San Leandro. Since you know supplies are limited here, just drive to the much newer and larger facility at 14500 E. 14th St. read more

This place is so bad. We have a po box here and I have usps informed me and it seems like every time a checks gets delivered it goes missing. No one can give me an answer. 3 times this had happen. I am becoming so pissed. read more

Felt very safe from Covid . Staff communicated the line situation and everyone seemed happy and in the holiday spirit.

Quick convenient location. Almost always out of boxes. They will rarely have all boxes in stock. Be prepared with your own box just encase. Usually a line out the door in the evening but it goes quick. Line out the door because of small location and social distancing. read more

I enjoy coming to this post office because the workers are friendly and they are open on Saturdays. As long as you avoid coming during lunchtime and after work, you shouldn't have an issue with long lines. So far, I have never experienced anything negative since coming here for over 15 years. The only problem I have are the rude customers who verbally abuse these poor postal workers. People need to remember that post office workers are people too. read more

On 01-14-2022 @ around 12:00pm I had come to the post office at 1319 Washington Ave San Leandro, california 94577 I got in line as I was waiting to be next a woman asked if I was in line I told her yes I am in line. A clerk by the name of RICHARD because available but RICHARD tried to look over me and take a lady before me that I was in front of, when I walked up to the clerk RICHARD I stated to him that I was before the woman he tried to skip over me, RICHARD seemed very hostile in his demeanor as if he was angry so I asked RICHARD if he could hand me a few registered labels, RICHARD with a angry voice responded to me very loud and said, we do not have no labels but RICHARD never once tried to look for any labels he just yelled and said they don't have any at all. So I said ok, I saw another employee who I thought worked at that location if they had any registered labels and that employee was a woman that was one of the clerks who was right next to RICHARD she responded and told the mail carrier he aka RICHARD just told her we do not have any so the employee tells me well I can't help you because I don't work here and I said ok no problem. Well RICHARD comes walking towards me and I asked RICHARD do he have a supervisor or manager here. RICHARD again yelled at me and said to me NOOOOO WE DO NOT HAVE ANY SUPERVISOR OR A MANAGER HERE!!!! So I said ok can I get your name because you are very very very rude? He told me RICHARD being very aggressive again towards me for no reason, I told RICHARD thanks because I am reporting you, from there RICHARD yelled over my words and said to me yea! Make sure you do that! TELL THEM RICHARD THE BLACK GUY!!!! So I said well that's very ignorant of you to say because black isn't a nationality it's a color, but anyway as I was about to walk out I heard RICHARD mumble something to the customer he was helping and the both started laughing. I am not sure if he stated something about my disability or whatever but I do walk with a limp, my back, neck and hips are all screwed up for over two years now so I've been trying to deal with this situation. RICHARD embarrassed me by yelling at me and being so hostile in front of everyone that was in that post office at that time, I will never ever go back to that post office because that was absolutely unbelievable I even was on the phone with a friend and she was just like omg he is very disrespectful and rude. All I asked was a question he did not have to take it that far and embarrass me and also himself do to lack of knowledge. I received poor customer service when I asked if mail came in to PO boxes. I was looking for a check and the clerk wanted to rush me away.

Everyone is friendly and like coming here even though I live closer to the post office on international and 92nd.

I know going to the post office is a chore no one likes. Long lines are a pain, and it's hard to keep patient when you see inefficiencies. Having worked in customer service in my life, I also know how rude, confused, annoying, and pushy people can be. So on both sides it can be miserable. I got to the post office yesterday at 4:50 and the line was out the door and into the lobby. At 5 sharp, Richard closed the door (everyone already in line was allowed to go in, probably 25 in line). Yes, one of the clerks in particular is chatty to her customers, but each customer had an entirely different need, some more complicated than others, and I thought she sounded friendly and it was actually a nice change of pace to not feel like it was automatons behind the counter. The main reason I am writing this review, though, is Stephanie. Around 5:15 she came out to clean up the various counters and put envelops back into proper slots, pens back, etc but she also went through the line, eyeing what people were sending, to see if she could save them time (she could process certain transactions with her handheld) or money (if we were using a too expensive way to ship). I watched as she helped several people, saving them from waiting in line. Then she asked me what I was sending (a couple of books) and figured out a cheaper method! She took my package and re-wrapped it herself, even bringing me extra tape to seal it! I was amazed at the level of help and thanked her profusely. It was only a couple of dollars difference but it was her kindness and attitude that really made my day. read more

This post office doesn't even deserve one star... more like -100 times infinity stars! HORRIBLE PLACE AND THEY STEAL!! I made a horrible mistake of coming to this post office over and over. FIRST off, they deliver my mail to my house and one time I received my mail from them with a hole in the bottom corner because they stole my eyeliner. SECONDLY, my mom's friend had mail held at this post office from China (which was an envelope full of money) and when she went down there to claim it, it suddenly "disappeared". THIRD, I went to this post office to mail a camera a month ago and a few weeks ago I just noticed that it went MISSING! I had a tracking number on it and it NEVER left this post office. When I spoke with the manager twice, the first time he blamed Florida's post office. The second time I went he then blamed the Oakland post office. He told a lot of bs lies to me which I know for a FACT is not true. I know it is all BS because I shipped two things that day, my camera and a book. The book made it to its destination but my camera did not. It is very suspicious that my most expensive item was missing the same day. I gave them weeks to figure it out and they NEVER called me back. They know its stolen from there but they do not just want to fess up to it. this post office i've never knew existed till i went to Nations next door. there's postal boxes here, cards for sale, mail drops, and the postal counter. not never really 3 stars. the lines doesn't seem to move. did a quick mail drop and left.....stamps i can get at costco, no waiting. read more

I really like that they have a drop off on the outside, so if you didn't need stamps or packaging that you could just drop it off. The line is normally not that long but I had to wait a bit since they only had two attendants on when I was there and one customer was doing a lot of business with one of the employees. I like that you can get cards, packaging, bubble wrap and other items you might need for holiday shipping and normal shipping. I had to ship a book for my sister and needed to get media shipping, which is super cheap! The employee was very nice and knowledgeable, making my trip here a great one. I'll return if I need to ship something, but mind you that since it's holiday time that you might be waiting a while if your shipping gifts out since everyone will be doing the same. read more

Open Saturday from 9-4. My most recent visit was on a Saturday to put my taxes in the mail a day early. On this day there was a line, which can be expected. There were people walking around and asking me what the address to send their tax return to -- guess I look like the expert? The line moved fast, they seem to know what they are doing. I asked about certified mail or other options for mailing this and the person who helped was very informative and helpful. I ended up just sending the standard way but pleased with the way I was treated. If your in this general area I believe a post office open Saturday is hard to come by - so drop by here if there is something urgent. read more

I gone to both post offices multiple times, their service is horrible, they have lack of knowledge regarding their job....one person says something, another says something different, Postman delivers mail to Davis st area is very unprofessional, I received text messages third time my package got delivered in mail box but their is no package. One time my neighbor gave me my package, I was lucky enough that day because there was $ 700 dollars phone in that package. They should go to union city post office to get better training to do their job...I am very tired of usps service since they keep loosing my packages. I hope they read this review or somebody tell them, how frustrated people from their service and they do some type improvement. read more

I have come to this post office because the location is convenient but from now on I will drive the extra distance to go to another location. I thought the first time I came here was just a bad day but no, the second time I came here was awful too. Both times I stood in line I had Loretta as my cashier and she was extremely rude both times. I've never been treated so rudely before in a professional environment. The only office within a 5-mile radius of my house that is open on Saturday. As expected at all post office, the line was long, but they process it at a relatively fast pace and the fact that there were 3 windows open helped that along. I wish there would be some sort of sign or some instructions explaining what each form is for without having to wait in line for the staff at the window to tell me I've signed the wrong express form, but at least I don't have to wait in line a second time. Actual mailing process was quick and simple, and the staff was friendly and answered all my concerns regarding international mailing. Overall I have one of the better experience at this particular post office. read more
