The people at the post office are very nice and friendly but, wow, I've never had such trouble…read morehaving mail suspended for a few days or forwarded. Talking with neighbors, this is not unusual and I am surprised. I've actually given up trying to suspend mail when we go away for a week or so, no matter if I make the request online or hand the physical card (yellow) to the person behind the counter, it just never happens. Neighbors are away for 2 months and asked for the mail to be forwarded to their out-of-state address. Not only is it still being delivered and their daughter has to drive in occasionally to pick up, but yesterday it was delivered to the wrong address. VERY frustrating for us all.

On return from our trip, no mail, and this was before the big storm. I finally made it to the post office on Thursday, January 29, only to find a long line of patrons and one staff member at the counter. After 15 minutes, it was my turn, and I explained to the clerk that I was picking up held mail. She went into the back and returned, saying my mail service would resume on the 30th. I explained that it had already resumed but that my held mail was still being held, and she replied, "Well, you should have said that." I replied that I had told her that. She was unpleasant and rude, retrieved my mail, handed it to me, and, without a word, called on the next customer. I try to avoid the Sewickley Post Office because there are consistently long lines, long waits, and, much of the time, unpleasant front desk personnel. I prefer the Leetsdale Post Office in Quaker Village, which offers exemplary service from two staffers that are always pleasant. Sewickley could learn a thing or two from Leetsdale!

When delivered, my recipient was asked to pay $28 to receive it because it had been shipped "COD." I called this location to ask for an explanation, and they said that there is nothing they can do because that's just how Canada is. I explained that I had said when I shipped it that I absolutely did not want it shipped COD (and I paid over $40 for shipping myself), and they said that there is nothing they can do. I have shipped packages to Canada for 25 years. This never happened with USPS or FedEx. When I shipped through a different UPS Store previously, I told them the same thing about paying all charges up front and did not have a problem. So, my own thoughts from this experience is that this location either 1. does not know about customs fees, or 2. they know about them but don't know how to charge them to the shipper so they just lied to me to get the sale. Either way, this was a very bad experience. I won't be using this location ever again, and I may avoid UPS entirely in the future.

One worker in particular always seems to be having a terrible day when I come in but seems to have plenty of patience when some old lady comes in with packages unpacked.

I've had to wait 5-10 mins before, but on my recent visit I walked right up and was in and out in 3 mins. I always see the same staff member and he's always super pleasant and friendly with me. I'm usually having something mailed or purchasing stamps, nothing difficult, and I've never had an issue. I'm sure it's not within their control, but the price to mail a small bubble mailer ground still cost me over $7.

I have been told many times over the years that they will 'talk' to the postal carrier but nothing ever changes. They do not care and know that they are employed for life, there is no need for customer service. I don't need them to be my best friend but doing their job is really not too much to ask. If you hate people, do something else for a living, don't work at the desk of a post office. I am giving one star, but that is because I am not allowed to put '0' stars.
