Wife brought our daughter here for a passport renewal. (Needed to be in person because she turned 18.) They didn't allow her to apply because they claimed she needed a *second* photo ID -- beyond her current, *valid* US passport! I was certain that I had checked the official US State Department web site and seen no requirement for any sort of secondary ID. And indeed, upon double-checking after being informed that they had refused to process her application, according to the State Dept web site, your current passport is all that is needed. Add to that that we had to wait almost two *months* to get this appointment and this type of incompetence is absolutely inexcusable. Go elsewhere if you need a passport processed. In fact, given a few other less-than-pleasant experiences I have had with this post office postal-related issues, better to go elsewhere, regardless of the purpose. read more

This is a review for Passport application. They accept walk-ins on Thursdays from 9-11am, first 50 apps. I was there around 7:30AM and was 9th in line. Around 8:15 someone came out to distribute tickets, wrote everyone's name on a board. Everything was quiet and civilized. At 9AM they opened the doors to the passport line and started calling out names. You ave to be there in order to get in, otherwise will have to get to the back of the line again. At that point there were around 30 people in line. There are several clerks serving passport line, so I was with someone within 3 minutes. They checked all of my paperwork, took my check and service fee and I was on my way within 5-10 minutes! On that day, their photo camera wasn't working, so they sent people to nearby CVS. They did tell them to come back and promised to serve them same day. That is very nice of them. Overall very positive experience. Good job, post office! read more

Absolutely terrible, I wish there was a no star option. They have already lost two of my packages, say they delivered but I receive nothing. I call and call and complain and nothing gets done, I just get told to deal with the shipper... Lab other 3 packages I ordered have also been sent back to shipper, saying address not deliverable, but have been ordering from same place with same address for two years and have been told by seller that they will no longer be shipping to my home address because now they are losing money. 5 total packages mishandled and there is nothing this USPS branch does about it, same line, "talk to seller!" 5 different companies are not Making the same mistake... This makes me sick, I am so upset. Not even sure what course of action to take next. My gf went over today and tried to deal with them and they pretty much said sorry about your luck. She spoke in a tone which makes me feel "whatever, it's you pkg so I don't care, I am glad that I cannot help you, I feel happy to see your problem unsolved". Ugh. So many issues with my local post office. 1) I moved within Cupertino and activated mail forwarding services. Sometimes my mail was forwarded. Sometimes it was delivered to my old address. And sometimes it was rejected and sent back to the sender. My friend tried to mail me a wedding invitation and he got it sent back to him! Thankfully I knew the people who moved into my old place after me, so they often gave me my mail that wasn't forwarded properly. Completely unreliable. 2) I've used their mail hold services many times. I have YET to get my accumulated mail delivered to me on the day I requested. NEVER! I was supposed to get my accumulated mail delivered today. What do I get? Just my mail for the day. Where's the rest of my mail? I call the post office. The check. They say, ok, I'll send it out for delivery tomorrow. So what if I never called? I would have never gotten it? The confirmation I got was to be delivered today. Super annoying. 3) Even mail to my current address gets rejected! A different friend tried to mail me a wedding invitation twice, (and confirmed the correct address) and I never got it either time because it got sent back to him both times. Ridiculous. Plus, Apple employees swarm the post office and often make the lines ridiculously long. read more

Applied for passport for my kid. Waited 30 min past our appointment. When the lady finally showed up to process our paperwork, she told her coworkers that she felt like doing some counter job instead of her regular duty of passport processing. Just like that. We were shooed to another guy helping other customers. Thank God that guy was very courteous and helpful, and he got our application done. The helpful guy's name is Chris. They close the door sharp at 5pm. But once you are inside and waiting in line, they will serve you after 5pm. However, the line moves slowly during the 5pm rush. Only half the window staff makes themselves available, which is head scratching when there is such a back log of customers. While the staff has good intentions, they come off as brusque. The USPS package tracker on their official website reported that as of Tuesday 11:10am, my package was "Available for pickup." So I went to the post office later that same day, at 3:05pm. Then the clerk informed me that my package wouldn't actually be ready until the next morning. So I asked him if the USPS.com package tracker was wrong. I would have accepted a simple "Yes, it's wrong. Sorry about that." Instead, the clerk pawned me off to a supervisor. The supervisor informed me that depending on the destination, actually my package could be ready. I told him that it was a commercial address, and he said only residential packages would be ready the same day. And there we had a paradox. Either the clerk had erred when he dismissed me out of hand, or the supervisor was wrong. I asked him if the clerk had been mistaken when he brusquely told me that there was no way that my package was ready. The supervisor denied that the clerk gave me a wrong answer. I rephrased my question. But the supervisor steadfastly denied any error on the clerk's part. So, if a clerk tells you to come back tomorrow for your package (without ever asking for your address), I guess you should ask to see their supervisor. But only if it is destined for a residential address. read more

Came over here to pick up a package. I was confused as to why the pink slip told me to go to Cupertino when I don't live near Cupertino, but I followed the instructions. After an hour's drive through traffic to get here and waiting in a half hour line, the employee asked for my address and paused when I told him a different city. He told me it was my fault for going to the wrong post office and continued to say so when I told him I had followed directions on the paper. I love how USPS employees' first instinct is to blame the customer. Then he told me there was nothing he could do and I would have to check my local post office (wouldn't bother to call them to make sure it was there). Wouldn't look me in the eye and called over the next customer in order to push me out. He couldn't give two shits about the mistake. It baffles me that the post office employees give such horrible customer service. Service that would get me fired at any job I've ever had, but seems to be the normal way of doing things at USPS. read more

I bought a gift card from the internet. The company shipped out through USPS but I did not get it after 3 weeks, so they sent another one. The second shipment never made it either after 15 days, so they sent the third one. Usually it takes 3-7 business days as they say, unless it got rerouted and that can take up to 21 days. I am waiting for the 3rd shipment and will see if it ever makes it to my mailbox. Talked to the supervisor of the Cupertino post office, he told me he will talk to the mailman. Not sure where in the mail handling process is at fault if it is not the mailman. A gift card can disappear twice (or possibly three times) through USPS, that is really something! read more

This is a review of the passport application process - if you call to make an appointment as the web site says you need to, they are currently scheduling 3 months out - yes, 3 months. The guy on the phone could not explain why. The only option is to go to the walk-up on Thursday morning. The recommendation is to get there at 6am. This makes applying for a kid's passport (where both parents have to be present and the kid) very tedious and the kid will miss school for an indeterminate part of the day. I'm trying to find an alternative, but for kid's passports I don't think there is any. read more

I usually go to this post office to ship out anything as it's close to work. There's plenty of parking, but sometimes, the line is really long. They don't have stamp machines so you have to wait in line for stamps, which can be a pain. Usually, the staff is friendly though. read more

I've been dropping off packages nearly every day for the last year at this post office. 9 out of 10 interactions I have here they seriously rain on my parade. They are always rude, unfriendly and down right mean people. Everyone there appears to hate their job and they take it out on every customer. You'll see this yourself because anytime you go in there you'll have to wait at least 15 minutes in line and there's always a line from the counter to the door. While waiting in line you will observe employee and customer interactions and it's horrible to watch people get treated so rudely one right after the next. Every transaction is unfriendly and rude in nature and they talk to every customer in an irritated manner. I just smile and be as kind as I can but it's sad that they get away with such behavior for so long. read more

I'm guessing it doesn't matter if you have an appointment for passport. You still have to wait. Been here for 15 min, before we got someone to open the door and help us. After that it went fairly quickly, we already had the forms ready. We forgot our checkbook at home, but luckily they could do a money order. So it was an ok experience. I was quite tentative in coming here after reading all of the terrible reviews. To my surprise, shipping my package First-Class was incredibly easy. There were 3 workers, but very few people waiting in line. The workers were helpful, and I was in and out of the post office within ten minutes. Tip: You can't print out first-class mail online-- you can only do this in stores. read more

I also always felt bad about people having to work under these kind of conditions in similar low level jobs, but after talking on the phone with a representative named Phillis I will never feel bad for them again... Very disappointed. My home's address is too long and sometime is does not fit in the line of the preprinted label leaving the last 2 digits of my apt number out of the label. After having to pull my teeth out to explain this simple situation to her, she gave me back the same answer over and over again without even listening to me, that she is not responsible for any misprints... ??? After asking her politely to talk to somebody that was willing to help me she kept refusing to pass the phone, insisting that she is not responsible for any missed deliveries and returns (???). Very rude to me and not in the least helpful!! If you call them do not expect your problem to be resolved. It's a post office, what more do you expect? Lines can be long and tend to move a bit slow but that's unfortunately the way the government runs. Overall this place gets the job done, you should be in and out within 20-30 min. read more

I recently moved here and have been to the post office only a couple of times, and my experience was bad on both occasions. First, the good part: This is one of the best in terms of parking, though taking a left on Stevens Creek can be daunting. I went back another time to this post office to buy stamps and the lady ringing me up was giggling and pointing at pieces of jewelry in a Tiffany and Co magazine with a co-worker. She pretended she didn't have any stamps and told me to go to the machine. Then a lady of the same race as hers came up to the counter and the clerk pulled out two books of Forever stamps !! Your fine tax dollars at work :( Carol and Christopher get a pass, they can make even the most miserable 30 minutes in line seem like just 15. I only go inside to ship items via media mail and foreign stuff, EVERYTHING else I do at the APC. But I've had a lot of media mail for foreign stuff lately so it's been really depressing. Last week they had one person doing passports, one person at the business desk, and one regular person. They handled 3 customers in 12 minutes while the line went from 4 people (of course I was #4) to all the way out the door. They can't bring more people up front when the line gets long? I live on the "route from hell" way up in the mountains. Frequently our roads are closed, I am always filing complaints about returned mail, damaged packages, the carrier driving like a maniac with iPod headphones on. So I have issues with both the front of office and how the back is run. They have cost me time AND money, neither of which are good. Anything over 4 lbs, I ship UPS ground. Bonuses: lots of people there speak Chinese, which is good for the Cupertino demographic. And there is lots of parking, which, if I have to ship USPS, I pick this one over Sunnyvale. But Los Altos there is never a line. Detractors: Chinese, but no Hindi? Making a left at the stop sign by the Vivi's is rough. Go through the parking lot and make your left at Orange. read more

Absolutely the worst post office I have ever visited. Older Asian lady super rude, place doesn't have any boxes ever stocked outside by self serve machine. Inside flat rate box area poorly stocked as well. Workers look like they hate their jobs. Place opens late as workers just take their time even with people lined up at door. Three of four requests for vacation mail hold the past 2 years were ignored, resulting in a mail box over-flowing with mail-"advertising" that we weren't home. During one vacation, mail that wouldn't fit in the mail box was left on the ground next to it, and was water-damaged by adjacent sprinklers. Just how difficult is a "hold mail" order to follow? If our mail were taken when ordered held, or if our home were broken into, which might be invited by would-be robbers finding a stuffed mail box, the USPS/Cupertino would be liable. Inadvertently slipped a payment coupon book into a USPS mailbox in Cupertino along with a bunch of mail. Once I realized what I had done, I considered it gone forever. But much to my surprise a few days later the coupon book was mailed back to me. Kudos to the folks at the Cupertino USPS for their diligence and commitment to customer service! read more

If I could give 0 or negative star, I would have done it. On Feb, they sent us a letter out of the blue that the postmaster had decided not to deliver mails for our house, due to our 6-pound toy poodle. There were no prior written requests whatsoever regarding this matter. I tried to talk to the customer service supervisor over the counter. She was hostile and rude, with no regard of the customer. When asked for the exact code and regulation for stopping the mail service, she simply walked away!!! On Apr, I got another letter from the postmaster, quoting that the carrier was threaten by our dog. We asked for the exact time the threat happened, she and the staff refused to answer. We took a look of the video from our surveillance camera, and found nothing happened. Later, they threaten to sue us if we kept talking to the Post Office regarding this matter and sent us a letter with disconnected or wrong phone and fax numbers. We were forced to open a PO box, and requested that all the mails to our address to be forwarded to the PO Box. We found that they returned several crucial mails back to the senders, including those from the school of our kids, without honoring our forwarding requests. The school told us that they won't send the mails to a PO Box. The postmaster and her staff, not only have been causing a huge deal of inconvenience to my family, but also causing troubles in the education of my kids. Their misconducts are beyond belief and completely intolerable as a federal office. read more
