Came for a passport with an appointment at 2pm. They just tell you to stand in front of a gray door until eventually somebody comes out and calls you inside. The lady tells us the photo machine is broken so we need to go elsewhere to get a photo and drop it back off here. She does the rest of the application and then when my husband asked when we need to drop the photo back she says by 3pm. Then she says if we don't we will have to make a new appointment and come back and fill out the application all over again. It's 2:07pm when she tells us this!! and she only told us because my husband asked. We had to rush off to get a photo and drop it back off in less than an hour. I was so stressed. How does this disorganized post office lose a package? Worse, how does the post office not have any paperwork of when the package came in and even know if they returned it? The receiving clerk did not fill out the package slip to list who it was sent by, si one I can't call who sent the package ! The post office employees , if they don't scam or write down when packages come in or get sent back, can take them for themselves even. The manager was unhelpful, Kamaljit Kaur, and takes no responsibility for lax processes. She would not even follow up to find the package or report it. She ought to be fired as she does not follow the usps rules for packages. She can't even put up a little security camera to stop the mail being stolen from the outside boxes. Okay so this is a post office review , not a likely review for me. However since Covid I've noticed a difference in some offices. Understanding safety is huge concern , I've been to a few lately that still give you a yell if one inch closer than six feet of the person in front of you. This one in Los Altos treats you with respect and always safe AND friendly. Due to the location a little out of Main Street usually less crowded and I've never had a wait more than 5 min. bad attitude employees. they "ran out of money order" so i was sent home to grab a check instead of them letting me use my debit card, as they said i could do online. overall lack of quality, or even baseline customer service. other customers within were disappointed with such as well. read more

7/24/21 I called this office this morning and even when they post that they are open: nobody picked up the phone. I want to let them know that my mail I dropped off at their mailbox by their driveway on 6/29/21 has not arrived at the recipients address. I trust that they had delivered or it was sent somewhere other than the addressee? I had never experienced this poor service in Los Altos since the beginning of time. If the Manager is listening or reading about my complaint today, I want to know what he will do for me and others who rely on an outstanding postal service! I gave 1 Star for bad service! Just some advice/warnings for the passport appointment. If you've multiple kids, each form will need a separate check, one check with different payable to Postmaster - for their $35 processing fee. Our 2"x2" photos, which printed at CVS high quality printer, still get rejected due to the background was "too blue". We end up paying $15 each passport photo onsite. I'd follow instructions very carefully, well prepared and still get a monkey wrench. Bring your checkbook and ATM card, no credit card accepted. Think of this as same level as DMV appointment, very direct but inconsistent. I, however appreciated the person at the appointment trying to be service friendly and accommodating. read more

The actual post office is okay. However the mail delivery service is awful! I get packages from my neighbors and vice versa. So more often than not, we do the mailman's work: deliver the mail to the correct address. Having said that, it's now a little disconcerting that two separate packages I ordered from REI said that it was delivered to my mailbox a week ago but are still nowhere to be found. I wonder if they are still in the USPS truck... read more

Passport appointment today. While the whole application process seems a bit antiquated and clunky, we got good service at this location for our daughter's passport. We made an appt a few weeks out online. We came prepared with all our documents and the appt only took about 10 minutes. Tony was efficient and friendly! Can also take passport photo for $15. read more

I waited in line with a prepaid package. When I got up to the counter the lady took my package, stared at me and then said "What do you want me to do with this?". I want you take my goddamn package. Oh maybe fucking scan the scansheet and give me a receipt but that's probably too much to ask and probably too much for you to handle. Also I don't really want to wait in line anymore than you do or take up your precious time but a prepaid package is 5 seconds time max. Take the package and throw it in the blue wagon behind you. Easy peasy lemon squeezy don't waste my time with your dumb judgmental bullshit and take my fucking package you dumb piece of shit. I probably got more shit from this lady than some asshole would taking 5 minutes to mail something. Oh and if you don't want prepaid postage people to wait in line get a APC drop box or designate a marked area or just say hey you can just drop it off in front next time. Not that hard. read more

My same gripe about most of the post offices. They have no idea what customer service means. The line gets huge and nobody comes out to help. However, there are people in the back clearly doing other tasks. So drop the other task and get the line down to under 10 people. Maybe then people may stop using FedEx and come back to the Post office. Oh, and the same line for someone who wants to pick up their vacation hold and the person who wants to ship 12 packages all to different countries? Are you kidding? Come on Post Office. I avoid going to the post office as much as I can - I mail my items through PayPal shipping (cheaper and more convenient), I try and deal with these people in person as little as I can. However, in this instance, I absolutely had to. I had moved to Los Angeles a while back and had my mail forwarded from my Los Altos address to my Los Angeles address. However, because of persona reasons, I had to move back to my old place in Los Altos. I immediately cancelled my forwarding on the 20th of November, received cancellation confirmation and went on with my life. Now, fast forward a few days when I order something online (that is necessary for my work), and the shop sends it out DHL to USPS. All is fine up to that point, when I check my tracking information and LO AND BEHOLD, it says "forwarded," after "out for delivery." WHOA, I say, and immediately call the 1-800 number for USPS. They open an investigation case for me and tell me they will be in touch within one day. When that does not happen, they tell me to call my local post office that delivers to me, because the package is under investigation with their supervisor there. So I call. First, I got to speak with a regular customer service assistant, who figures out that my forwarding was NOT cancelled, therefore my things are still being forwarded to Los Angeles. Secondly, my package is already ON THE WAY to Los Angeles and NOT under any investigation. And because I will not be at my Los Angeles address, the package will just be sent back to sender. WHAT? I needed this package days ago, I can't wait for this because of their incompetence. However, since it is not her fault and she can't do anything about it, I ask to speak with the supervisor, because he's the one who's supposed to take care of these things. This is where things go BAD. Instead of trying to help me, he starts YELLING at me. "THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU!" "IT IS ALREADY BEEN FORWARDED TO LA, I CAN'T DO ANYTHING!" "NO, YOUR THINGS ARE STILL BEING FORWARDED, I CAN DO NOTHING!" Basically, he's yelling at me, because I am trying to fix his mistake. "NO IT IS NOT UNDER INVESTIGATION, I DON'T HAVE IT!" "YOU NEED TO CALL SOMEONE ELSE." etc. etc. He then tried to feed me some BS about forwarding, how some of it is done automatically and some of it is done by hand, so mistakes are made and that is why I receive SOME mail, but not ALL of it. What? Oh, and did I mention that I had received a letter addressed to a COMPLETELY different person? With a name that does not even closely resemble mine? That's some service right there! Generally, I would let it go, but the lady before him was being very patient and was TRYING to help me out, even though she had no authority past a certain level. But this guy, instead of trying to do something to help me out and to continue the good work the other woman was doing, he just yelled at me and refused to do anything to help. He even refused to cancel my forwarding on his end, even though it was supposed to be cancelled on his end DAYS ago. Completely useless. This is where I got his name and am currently on the phone with customer affairs: Dear Mr. K. Chung, you are a disgrace to the local post office and because of people like you, I hate going to the PO. And yes, I will be reporting your unprofessional behavior to the main office and the fact that you refused to do your job. Basically, here's a hint: if you EVER move and need forwarding, think twice about it. Because who knows who will actually be getting your mail? I have received mail addressed to a person with a same last name as me but a name completely different, I have also received mail addressed to a person who has NEVER lived anywhere NEAR any of the places I lived, and has a completely different last/first name, which means that they probably got some of my mail. They never pick up so don't even think about trying to schedule an appointment for a passport. Had to drive there in person to find out the next appointment is in 3 months. Horrible, horrible service. If you also have problems getting a passport, you might want to contact your elected representatives as well as going to usps.com and filing a complaint. It shouldn't be this difficult to get a passport for your child. read more

Great post office! Fast and friendly service. I came to send in my passport renewal application and the lady was very kind and helpful (forgot her name). She assembled my papers, stapled my passport picture to the application and even put everything in a complimentary envelope. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I requested a mail search from the Los Altos Post Office for a package that was supposed to have been delivered March 27.  According to the tracking # this package was delivered in my mail box.  It was not there.  The postal worker who I spoke to over the phone told me it was delivered in my mail box. I told her it was not but she just kept insising that according to the scan records it was delivered.  She kept repeating this in a rude deprecating tone and won't let me speak so I had to raise my voice in order for me to get heard and ask for my options.  She still kept repeating that it was delivered without giving me a chance to ask my options but before I could speak she hanged up the phone.  I called again and still she kept repeating to me the same info in the scan records without giving me any options to what next step I should take.  I had to raise my voice again to tell her to stop repeating the same information and was going to ask how to file a claim.  When I asked to speak to a manager she said she was the manager.  I  asked her who her boss was in order to complain and she said Louis De Joy.  I tried to ask her last name but she hanged up on me again.  I  don't know how postal workers are trained but clearly she needs more in customer service.  Not only was she extremely rude but condescending as well.  She never gave me options, I had to ask her about filing a claim but I could barely get a word in because she was speaking loudly this time saying the same information in the scan records..  She really wasn't listening to me, just trying to speak over me instead of assisting me on the claim procedure. I never got the help I needed because she hanged up the phone twice.  I have never encountered a more rude customer service agent.  I'd rather pay more money to use Fedex. read more

This Loyola Corner Post Office is by far my favorite post office in the Los Atlos/Mountain View area. Grace and team always greet us with a warm smile no matter how busy they are. I called to make a passport appointment for our son, the gentleman was very helpful and resourceful. He reminded us that both parents need to be present, and to bring all the required paperwork and IDs. We were early during the appointment, Tony took us in right away, took our kid's picture, checked all the paperwork, signatures and check. It was a very pleasant experience, the process was very streamlined and we were in and out in 10 minutes. Ever since our son got his stamps collection boy scout merit badge, he always enjoys buying collectors' stamps from Grace. This is the only post office that recognizes its regulars and makes us all feel at home. read more

Thank you USPS Loyola Corners. A package was sent via UPS who handed it off to USPS. It disappeared during the hand off - at least from the tracking info I could see. When queried, UPS said they handed it off and so had no knowledge of where it was. I filed a tracking request on usps.com and shortly received an email from USPS Loyola Corners saying they were looking into it with a real human name. A day letter I received a phone call from a woman at Loyola who explained what had happened, where the package was and when I would receive it. I was blown away and very grateful for our local USPS folks! I can only imagine how insane it must be for them this year! Thank you USPS Loyola!! read more

I'd want to say this place deserves a I had a passport appointment and well needless to say I wasn't quite ready however Ivy was amazing she was patient friendly and had a sense of humor. She knew how to help me with my issues of birth certificate and I'd not matching . She definitely put my mind at ease. I would definitely recommend this post office. We have been trying to get an appointment for my daughter (infant: 5 months old) to get her passport done and none of the post offices (Milpitas, Fremont, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and even Sunol) have appointments available or latest is 3 months away or don't pick up the phone and walk in is painful with having to stand in line at 4AM. We had a doc appointment close to this post office and on the way back i stopped by to ask them the procedure. Lady who answered my questions was nice (did not get her name). You can fix an appointment but next one was 3 months away. But Wednesday's are walk ins from 10:30AM to 1:30pm. We went there next wednesday at 11AM and there was just one person ahead of us!!! This was amazing. We were done in 10 mins. I heard that one has to go stand in line at Milpitas post office at 4AM and they only take 40 applications. Tip: Make sure you take your Check book with you to pay the passport fees. Credit card and cash are not accepted. There is an extra 25$ fee for passport acceptance that you can play using Credit card and that is to USPS. read more

Well, at least they are consistent. After my one month worth of mail was delivered upon my return date to someone else's house, I switched to making sure that my accumulated mail will be held for me to pick up when I return. It clearly says that "I will pick up all accumulated mail when I return and understand that mail delivery will not resume until I do so." Obviously the postal workers have not read their own form.This is the second time that I have gone to pick up my mail and they could not find it. Contrary to what their form specifies, they went ahead and delivered it. At a loss on what can be done to get the staff to read and follow their own US PS authorization form. read more

The Miramonte Post Office was sparkling new when my family moved to Los Altos in 2000. It is uncrowned on weekend but can be busy with long lines during the holiday season. Pros: - Unlike the post office in downtown Mountain View, the L.A. post office actually answers their telephone. - Ricardo was very patient and helpful in setting up general delivery remotely when I had to ship myself some parcels from SoCal. - In general the staff seems friendly and competent. Cons: - The service counter is a little undersized and there's a long line even during non-peak times (mid afternoon). It would be helpful to install a self-service kiosk or two. read more

Sent tax paperwork via *certified* mail from this site. They lost it! I guess that's why FedEx and others are in business.

Staff may be nice according to the other reviews but they are inept. I put a hold on mail and it was delivered the first day of the hold. I called the PO and someone confirmed that yes, they did receive my hold order. Well, the week I was away they kept delivering mail until my mailbox was full and then took it back to the post office. When I called they said they had no record of the hold. The guy's excuse:"A lot of people put their mail on hold now." I was not amused. The guy was nice enough to agree to resume delivery (results yet to be seen). Unfortunately, this PO has no concept of organization. In my opinion it should not stay open. read more

Applied for a passport there. The service was very courteous. Appointments are required, I could get one for the next day pretty much at the time I wanted. Waited half an hour. One terminal was down. Female staffers were complaining about a male (half black/white) co-worker who came in half hour late, so he should take half hour for lunch. He did come out to logout of his terminal, but when asked to stay, he said NO (line of about 10 people in a small little room). After a half hour, he came back, but looked annoyed. A white lady was nice. An asian guy is super-slow. And the black manager looked out of her league. Please close this post office, government. read more
