The line at this post office is so long. They never have enough staff to handle the customers and it takes forever to mail a package. Getting an appointment for passport renewal is so difficult. What I find extremely inconvenient is that they closed the door for the after hour package drop off. I don't know how else to put my big parcels in for delivery, when I get off from work late. They need to re-open the doors to let people drop off packages after hours, and not close so early. read more

We all know Post Office isn't the best place to be. This location closes at 5pm SHARP. If you are inside before 5pm, they rush you. Honestly your post office experience is what you make of it. She wouldn't let me see what she was doing, and somehow, she misaddressed a $14.55 package that is now being returned to me. I don't know why this post office got such terrible reviews. And for a post office as well ... honestly I think USPS has probably one of the best, most reliable and cheapest services around. This was the most convenient post office for me when I worked at Symantec so I was here all the time mailing everything from Christmas cards to eBay sales and random car parts as well. The few times I've been here, the lines have been quite long. The workers tolerate them. Honestly, the service I've gotten hasn't been bad at all. I've always been helped promptly and swiftly when I've reached the counter. Today, there was a man (I assume the manager) somewhat in the back behind the workers at the counter, not really doing anything. He asked if anybody had mail pick up, and when nobody responded, he just hoovered over the workers. Seriously? Open up a register and help somebody out... There was a lady in line holding a tiny tiny dog. The man from behind an employee behind the counter raises his voice to inform the lady that no dogs are allowed and that she has to take the dog out. There is a sign on the door that says no bikes and no dogs. All and all, it was fair of him to ask her to take the dog out, but he didn't handle the situation properly. He shouldn't have raised his voice bellowing over the silence; he should have approached her, and politely and discretely asked her to leave. Second, there was a line forming, and more people were coming in. This guy needs to stop micromanaging and do some work. I've seen quite a few of the employees before (in the 10 years I've been coming here). They're definitely not inexperienced (though they were training one new guy, but he just asked another employee for help). This may be one of the reasons why this branch has been getting terrible reviews. In the end, I've never had issues with the employees, just the long lines. Every time I've come to this post office, I have been very pleased with the service. Everyone was courteous and professional. It's a big enough place so I feel like a have a bit of privacy when I conduct business, rather than feeling like all the customers waiting in line are breathing down my neck like some other locations. I picked this post office because it was open 24 hours before Covid appeared in the Bay Area. I work odd hours and this was perfect for me Now not so much. With limited hours 8:30-5:00pm, I can never get over here to pick up my mail. I can't just "swing by" to pick up my mail. I wish they would leave the lobby open till 7 or 8pm. I received a notification MyUSPS that a delivery I've been waiting for has arrived and been delivered to my parcel locker in my complex. I double checked the tracking info and yep, the detail shows my package has been delivered. Yay! After work I went home to pick up my eagerly-awaited chemo medicine. I opened my mail box expecting to find a key to one of the package lockers and...no key in my mailbox to retrieve my medicine. I check the website and the tracking stated that "DELIVERED, PARCEL LOCKER". A month ago, I received a package that was not belong to me and had a completely with different street address. Word to the wise, if you come here to retrieve a package because you received an orange notice, they have a buzzer for off hours that allows you to skip the line. I stopped by at 9:30am on a Saturday, hoping to pick up my box, but discovered that the main post office doesn't open until 10am. Too bad I didn't see that pastel blue door with the buzzer until I came back a second time at 10am. Plenty of parking and a nice drive through lane to drop mail directly into the mail box without having to park. The only thing that I find a bit obnoxious is that there are a lot of stop signs. My original review said "Just close this post office and fire all of its employees." Actually, there are some who are friendly and helpful, but others are downright arrogant, rude and abusive. I stand by my original statement that "It is clear that USPS doesn't give a sh-- about customer service." Because if they did, they would have retrained the staff here years ago. There is no accountability for USPS employees from the front line all the way up to the top. They have no motivation to do a better job and there are no consequences for doing a lousy job. It is time to change that. If you do any sort of research, you'll find out quickly that USPS management is inept, the culture is an old-boys network rife with nepotism and other forms of corruption, and that workers are pushed to their physical limits and then targeted for firing if they get injured on the job. I went today (8/17/19) to send an international package. The new counter person (black lady with a ponytail) told me that I am not allowed to use a cropped US post label UNLESS I send it Priority Mail (the "Priority Mail and "United States Postal Service" were cut out). In 25 years no other postal worker complained about that. She insisted that I use Priority Mail. When I declined, she called me a "cheater". Such people have no business working there and interfacing with customers. Have her find another job. One more thing: she insisted that I attached a Commercial Invoice. I feel bad writing a bad review but I think need to. Normally I have no problems and the people are super nice but I came here to get my passport renewed and I ended up getting charged $50 and writing a check to the department of state. A few weeks later I get a call saying I didn't write a check large enough for the passport so I had to pay an extra $30. The gov worker didn't know why I was charged so much by usps and I don't know why either. Very frustrating but glad I was able to sort it out easily. They were extremely late in processing the application. The person before us had the first appointment at 10 am and was not seen until 1021. I've been to this post office a few times and it's usually because they are open on Saturdays and I needed to get something post marked. My previous visits have always been your typical experience, not wonderful and not bad. Honestly how many people can leave a 5 star review for a post office. You get in line, ask how much something costs to ship, and then pay. I guess if the wait isn't too long, the shipping cost ends up being half of what you imagined, and the post office clerk brightens your day, that might result in a 5 star review. So here's how my recent visit went. I arrived at the post office at 9:45am and they open at 10. There's about 15 people ahead of me in line and I kind of expected long lines since it was the deadline for property taxes and most people would probably need post marks. In fact, half the people in front of me had the same beige envelope I had confirming my thoughts. When I finally get up to the clerk, he's a summary of the dialog that took place: me- I need postage and a post mark for my letter. clerk- [asked me the standard questions about anything hazardous or flammable] me- no, it's just a check clerk- please answer the question on the small screen me- [pressed no for nothing dangerous] clerk- Your total is $0.47 me- Here's a dollar clerk- [accepts my money, gives me change, puts the postage sticker on the envelope, and then places the envelope in the basket with other letters.] me- Is the sticker the same as a post mark? clerk- [takes the envelope back out of the basket and shows me the sticker] See it shows todays date on it. me- Will the county accept that as the post mark though? clerk- Sir, you just asked me the same question. me- I just want to make sure the county will accept it otherwise there's a 10% penalty for me. All the post marks I've requested in the past is a small circle stamp with todays date. clerk- Well you will need to ask the county about that. me- [starting to get frustrated since it's a very simple question and I see the post mark stamp in front of her] Well it's not the same question, my fist questions was whether or not the sticker is a post mark and my second question is whether or not the county would accept it as a post mark. I just want to make sure that my payment isn't considered late. clerk- You will need to check with the county about what is accepted. me- Well your the post office and I'm requesting a post mark be put on my envelope. clerk- See this date on the sticker, this proves that you mailed out the envelope today. me- Well then is it considered a post mark or not? clerk- Sir...I already told you! You have to check with the county about that. me- [hella pissed off now, but still trying to speak in a friendly tone] Well I don't work in a post office and the county office isn't opened today. All I want is a post mark since I know that's what the county will accept and that's what stated on the back flap of the envelope. clerk- The date on the sticker proves that you sent out the letter today. Here's your receipt which also shows todays date on it. The county office will tell you if they will accept it as a post mark. Okay...so I left the post office pissed off and hoping that there will be no issues with my bill. With service like this it's no wonder this particular post office only has a 2 star rating on yelp. I'd also suggest this postal worker finds another line of work before she goes "POSTAL"! It's been a while since I've heard anything about post office violence so I guess they really spent some good money to make sure their workers are content. However, she's definitely not a people person and lacks patience and I would not be the least surprised if anything escalates from her behavior. Also her knowledge regarding postal services and procedures is in question if she needs customers to ask the county they will accept the date on a sticker as a post mark. read more

Hilariously bad. I'd write a sitcom about it. This place destroyed a package of mine. Came on a Saturday for inspection of the package for insurance and to mail another package. The other package went fine... on request for inspection, the clerk looked at me, and said he needed a manager. Ok, that's normal. Waited 20 minutes for a manager. That manager arrived, didn't introduce himself, I explained the situation to him, he just looked at it and said he needed another manager. Waited another twenty minutes. The other manager finally arrived... didn't introduce herself, didn't explain what took so long, said it was too late and they were closed, so I would have to come back. I laughed out loud and said it was terrible service, she said "no it isn't" and walked away. No explanation; not why they kept me waiting, not why it was OK to mail the other package, nothing. NOTE: THIS POST OFFICE STOPPED DOING WALK-IN THURSDAYS ABOUT A YEAR AGO IN MID 2017 SKIP DOWN TO THE TIPS AND TAKE YOUR APPLICATION DOWN TO THE MERIDIAN POST OFFICE Having gotten the lowdown from a friend at church, I found out that this post office does walk-in passport acceptance on Thursdays. This is directly contradicted by signage in the lobby of the post office itself and is not mentioned when you call and ask for an appointment, which is the only reason why this is a four-star review instead of a five-star. Armed with this knowledge, I had three kid passports to renew: I wasn't messing around. I arrived at 5am. Brought a camp chair and set up next to the door. The lobby is always open so shelter was not an issue. (Note: THERE IS NO BATHROOM. I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY) I was the first in line by 45 minutes. At 6 our Friendly Janitor brought out a sign to line up behind and some blank applications. (Note: xfinity wifi did work for me in this lobby on this day, your wireless may vary) By 06:30 there were a dozen people in line, some of whom had to be "encouraged" to join the line after trying to set themselves up in front of the door. At almost exactly 08:00, the manager of the branch came out, made a couple of announcements and then went through the line doing brief application checks and handing out the numbers to each individual who had a valid-looking application. It is at this point that you must have your child present to get a ticket (my three had arrived at 07:45) At 08:55 the mgr came back out and called the first few groups. We followed her through the main lobby and formed a second line up to the two right-most booths where two clerks were set up to take the applications. At this point the kids applying and both parents must be present (*unless you filled and got notarized a DS-3053... see below). At 09:00 the clerks started processing applications. Was in and out in about 15 minutes with three applications (having waited in line for 4 hours and done about 6 hours of prep work during the week before). ---- Some tips about the process itself: - Go to the State Department's website, READ and UNDERSTAND the instructions, and do EXACTLY what they say. This sounds silly, but there were quite a few people in line who had no clue and were asking around for advice about things that were well explained in the instructions. The clerks don't mess around and they *can't* make exceptions for you (you special snowflake, you) so read up! - Use the State Department's site to generate a PDF of your kid's application and print it out ahead of time (unless you enjoy hand cramps). Fewer mistakes and less of your skanky handwriting for the clerk to worry about. ( https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html ). If you feel weird about putting your travel plans or other info in, you can omit them in the online app and write them in (IN BLACK INK) on the printed version. (note: the kids' SSNs are required by law, and State probably has them anyway) - Have multiple duplicate copies of your documents, particularly your DRIVERS LICENSE and old passport. Sometimes the copier is acting up. Everything is Per-Application... NOT per-family. - Get your photos AHEAD OF TIME. Many drug stores provide this service. It's one less hitch in the process if you have them ready and done by a professional, and this post office might not have a working camera that day. - DON'T STAPLE ANYTHING TOGETHER...INSTEAD, USE BINDER CLIPS OR A POUCH. Let the clerk do the stapling...it has to be done in a certain way - DON'T SIGN ANYTHING until the clerk tells you to. They have to watch you sign because you are attesting to what it says and they are witnessing you do that. - Bring cash or check - Your kids' birth certificates have to go with the docs to the passport agency. Don't Freak Out. You'll get them back. - BE NICE TO THE MANGERS AND CLERKS. This is kind of an add-on duty for them and people can be rude. Don't take out your own lack of preparation on them. (*) a DS-3053 ( http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/212243.pdf ) is how divorced parents who can't stand to look at each other can still get their kids a passport. It's also how still-married couples can buy some extra flexibility. You can go to work while your spouse goes to the post office with the kids, or vice versa, depending on which post office and time you get. We hedged a bit by filling this out for EACH of us and EACH kid and getting them notarized ahead of time. (Little known secret: if your bank has a notary on staff they'll often do it for free if you make an appointment... Thanks Wells Fargo!) That way my wife could take our 5yo to his play group while I stood in line with the surly pre-teens. Important Note! have copies of front and back of the signer's Drivers license for each DS-3053 you have notarized... they'll have to go with the application to the state dept. Good Luck! read more

This place is like a long drawn out game of Russian Roulette. You usually have to wait a long time for your turn and if you get the wrong counter it's about as bad as a bullet to the brain. If you are lucky, you will end up at Carol's or Christopher's counters as they both know what they are doing. But when it's busy you might be unlucky and end up at Jeffrey's counter, and if you are not careful he will try to rip you off like he's tried to do to me a few times. There is also a Chinese woman with a thick accent that has mastered the art of being stereotypically rude and answering every single question with "I don't know." You are going to want to put a bullet in your brain after dealing with those two. read more

Very rude! Employees! I came here with my mother two years ago to get a passport done. At the time my mother had cancer and had a hard time hearing things. The clerk a lady by the name of Nancy treated my ill mother like the scum of the earth. When my mother asked to repeat who the check needed to be written out too she preceded to yell and point and make a scene. Now two years later I had a package to send to Missouri. The lady told me I had the wrong tape on the box and the only way I could send the box out was if I chose to send it in a much more expensive box. Cupertino USPO, how I loathe thee. The service is super slow here, although the parking is adequate. They even have a drive thru drop off. What gets me tho is the location. It's not hard to get in, but it's hard as frak to get OUT! So this is like just west of the 85 on Stevens Creek. That automagically means 3 lights. THEN add the fact that there's a railroad crossing. More random stops. Also, add the fact that people are coming east on Stevens Creek like the Dukes of Hazzard off of that unholy hill at like 50 mph and it's basically blind until they're not 200 feet away. There is absolutely no rhythm to the traffic there. Go at lunch and the faint at heart can expect to take 35 minutes in the PO and another 11 minutes trying to make a left turn. Dood, you're better off making a right and then a big fat U-ey at the golf course, then go Dukes of Hazzard on everyone else trying to turn left. read more

Unbelievably rude and disrespectful except to certain people who they know. I was surprised that I was actually yelled at by this lady that other reviews seem to mention as well. They have a business line that only serves people who have certain business id. As a business owner I asked to be given the ID as well but the lady yelled at me that they stopped issuing those ID's two years ago. So why do they still have the business line if they are no longer issuing the business ID? Also I noticed that I the lady did not asked anyone else in the line for their ID and just singled me out. It appeared that the business line is only to help certain people. I can live with all the inconstancy on this but shouting at me was just appalling. With employees untrained to show the usual customer courtesy extended by all business, it is not a surprised that USPS is losing so much money. People just don't like to take crap from these rude, slow and overpaid cashiers and take their business to UPS, FedEx, etc. even though they may be more expensive. read more

I have to ship things a lot stuff I have sold from eBay which means I have to go the post office A LOT. Usually come to the post office with a SCAN form (not sure why) along with the item I want to ship but not anymore. There's this Asian lady, wearing heavy make-up (not so attractive looking as I would say), red/violet dyed hair, was really rude towards me. Every time I go to this USPS location (well, used to), she has this attitude that tells me, "wow, I have to deal with this guy again?" She's simply irritated with me for constantly going there to scan my forms. I remember a time I went to this USPS location after my school day at De Anza College. I took my forms to her counter, she laughs at me and makes fun of me because she has to scan these forms I have - it's an implication that she CAN'T scan the forms and it's a fact because she doesn't know how to use the scanner (I'm apparently the only one that has these SCAN forms). Then, that Violet/red haired Asian lady takes my SCAN forms, goes over to the other Asian ladies that work there and they all collectively laugh at me because of the thought that I am making her scan the forms and she's tired of me bring them to the post office. I only go their once every other week or two and she's complaining of a simple job, HER job. HEY, just do your job and shut up, stop complaining like a little bit... Now, I barely include SCAN forms with my shipments and I do not go to this location ever again despite it being so close to my school (De Anza College) - that woman would see me and make these negative facial expressions towards me. In other words, I'm not going to this location anymore because that woman is a total jerk. Instead, I go to the Milpitas, Eastridge Mall, and Hillview locations because the employees there aren't jerks. I have seen other reviews of people losing items at this specific location. I also did have items lost here, most recently they "misplaced" my very expensive electric guitar distortion pedal I shipped out to a customer of mine but I was able to get a refund. They suck. If you live in an apartment complex they suck more. They claim they attempt delivery yet no tag indicating this. Then they return it to shipper and I have to start over. You escalate to a manager and it gets worse. With every level you climb it gets worse. They send a status of "delivered" but it's not here then magically shows up a day later. They fudge records so they can keep their in time delivery with Amazon in good standing. This is why they are broke and even their own people are miserable. Should have read the reviews, this place totally sucks! I was here this morning and just got frustrated and ended up leaving. I had my small envelope to send to France, I've never sent anything internationally before and knew I'd need to fill something out , even though I already had the address printed on it and everything . When I got up to the clerk they handed me the paper to fill out which would have only taken 30 seconds but they made me go back in the long line to finish it. They wanted me to also write the weight of the envelope on the form , aren't they supposed to weight it ? I guess I need to guess what it would be ... Then I got cut in front of which was even more annoying. Feeling under the weather so I just didn't have the patience, so I left . I'm sad that Cupertino has such a terrible post office since it's my hometown. I have to agree with the other posts written here. The lines are long-- they don't open many counters and there are NO PENS available. The worst part is they have a not-so-nice employee who works there. I didn't mean to rude but I guess she took it that way when I went up to her booth to borrow a pen that I mistakenly thought a customer had left behind since it was not attached to the table. I only did that because there were absolutely no other pens there for me to use and since I was actually buying the envelope from the post office, I hadn't pre-written in the address information. I don't know... is it too much to expect a post office to provide pens, especially when they are selling envelopes? anyways, she was pretty mean about it. first she demanded that i return the pen (even though nobody was using it). I complied and even apologized. But, since I still didn't have a pen and I was edging closer to the front of the line (and didn't want to be sent back to wait since my package was still unaddressed)--- I desperately asked her if she perhaps had any other pens I could borrow to which she replied-- No! Because people keep stealing them. I don't know why I even bothered asking. It just gave her the perfect opportunity to be even more mean. The funny thing was in the end --- (since there were only 2 counters open 50/50 chance)--- she ended up being the one to help me. Once I was at her booth, she offered me the same pen she refused me minutes earlier to fill out my package information. And then helped another customer out when I was filling out my information. I just had an amazing experience renewing my sons passport. Based on our prior experiences elsewhere and my recent DMV Real ID horror show we showed up 20 minutes early. One of the clerks noticed we were waiting in the general line and called the agent for us. We then were shown into a separate office area with chairs. The friendly and knowledgeable agent took our son's photo We paid for the fees and filed the forms. We were out of there before our appointment time! Thank you for making the painful ritual pleasant. We did strictly follow the rules and had our photo ID already copied and ready as well as filing the form online. read more

This USPS Office in Cupertino,CA has a lady who runs around with a credit card reader, a battery power printer for labels and for receipts. Great concept if the line is long and you are sending something Priority mail. They scan your credit card first, then they make the shipping label followed by the receipt. In my case the label did not print. I asked her if she charged my Credit Card and she said NO. She wanted my Credit Card again. The next time it all worked and she made the label, the receipt and YES, she had in fact charged my Credit Card twice. My credit card company informed me of this via email, awesome. I drive back to the Cupertino, CA USPS and explain the situation and the same lady along with a "supervisor" indicated that they would not give me the second charge money back, nor would they offer me stamps or anything else except for me to file a dispute with my credit card company. Wow, they make the mistake and now it's my problem! I am not saying that all USPS are bad and in fact I think their service has gotten better over the last few years. However, I suggest there can be problems with these portable USPS printing devices and potentially other USPS services. You should only pay for USPS services with Credit Cards, NO cash and NO debit cards or you may not get your money back when USPS makes a mistake. read more
