Yess the line can be very long but for a town of under 1800 residents that has over 370,000 tourists per year, they probably don't have the staff a medium sized town would have. So guys, give them a break, be prepared to wait & maybe smile.

22 years experience. It has gotten much worse with time.. If you go there, and you will have to go…read morethere if you have a package. Because they will not deliver to your door, you will wait in line from 1 hour to 3 hours. They used to deliver the packages to your door. The nasty man who is always there at the counter tried to gaslight me 'I have been here 10 years, and we never have'. Well, I have been here for 22 years, and they did up until this year! And calling ahead? Hah! They apparently take the phone off the hook when they open. I have called as many as 50 times in a day. Busy every time. Therefore you just have to go wait in the interminable line merely to ask a question. If you can use Fedex or UPS, but be aware. These shippers use USPS for the "last mile" in this rural area. So really only for packages of a large size and/or weight. UPDATE: Two days ago they put my package in the wrong parcel locker. Fortunately the neighbor knew me and reached out. Today my Amazon update says "Package delivered today to parcel locker'. There is nothing in my mailbox. Who knows where the item is. And this time it was something of a high value. Staggering incompetence couple with a complete lack of accountability. I am on the phone now. Ha ha ha. Di i mention they DO NOT answer the phone. It will ring 20-30 times and then hang up. And I will call again. Sometimes, they will answer the phone. Only 1 minute after opening, and 1 minute before closing. UPDATE: My package was misdelivered. On Amazon is says 'delivered to parcel locker'. It is not there. I tried calling. For one hour. No answer. I drove to PO at 7AM (they open at 7:30). There were already 3 people in line. By opening time there were ~ 30. But only one person working the counter (3 stations available). When i explained to the single customer service rep what happened, and that the same thing had happened last week...she went in back to look for my pkg! Completely illogical. I told her it was delivered to someone else's box! I was not there for a pickup. She wasted two minutes while ~ 40 people stood in line. At the avg pf ~ 3minutes per customer the best case scenario for the last customer in that line was a 2 hour wait. When she got back to the counter she understood the issue. She told me the carrier would in ~ 8AM and she would call me (I left my phone #). it is now 10AM. No call. And there will never be one. I tried calling. No answer. Why is there 1 person working the counter with 40 people in line? There are several people in back. i understand they are not doing nothing, they have their jobs. I also understand there are training requirements and not everyone can work the customer facing position. So....manage the resources! Get someone trained for that job and put them in front to only deliver packages. This would cut the queue quickly: The problem: Pagosa population increases seasonally. Tourism increases seasonally. Short-term rentals increase seasonally. Package volume increases seasonally. Lines increase seasonally. The solution: Forecast demand. Staff accordingly. Cross-train where practical. Reallocate resources during peak periods. UPDATE: Neither the lady at the counter nor the carrier ever contacted me, as I was told would be done. I did, however receive my pkg after I left a letter at the mailbox for the carrier, hopefully this will result in my mail being properly deliver going forward. OTOH, I also received a 'sorry we missed you' slip. This is for another item I was expecting today. it is a small item, small enough to fit in the parcel locker. So why was it held at the PO? Well, let's look at the 'Because' section on the slip...hmmm...see anything wrong with that? Yep, no reason selected. There are seven possible reasons, and NONE of them are checked! But she wrote '90' and circled it. Presumably some internal PO code? It means nothing to me, the customer. So who knows why it was not delivered.

I have never treated so poorly by a post office as I have the Bayfield, Colorado location. I have…read morea temporary address (actual street address) while my husband and I build a new house in the 81122 zip code. I have used the address for packages that I have either ordered for construction or medications from my VA Hospital in Phoenix. Until this week I had no issues with my packages either being delivered to the address or I picked them up. I returned from a trip to Phoenix VA Hospital only to find out that any packages that arrived while I was gone were returned to sender, week of August 20th. I went into the post office on Monday August 28th to pick up said packages and when I was informed that they had been returned I asked the employee who typically has handed me packages in the past she stated that this location was no longer going to hang on to mail that they consider undeliverable. Now mind you I have been picking up packages all summer so this is something new . No "I apologize as this is our new mode of operation, etc". She continued to tell me that they will have it for 24 hours. Before returning it to sender. Imagine my surprise and chagrin when I show up this morning to pick up a package that had been there for less than 24 hours and the same woman tells me that it's already been returned. ‍ And she denied that she told me 24 hours. I asked to speak to her supervisor who was also rude, accused me of pointing my finger at her when I had not. After further discussion and getting no where I was asked to leave. Rude, disrespectful and clearly not on the same page when it came to information about their processes. Going up the chain...

She needs to remember she works for the public as taxpayers! Her rude and abrasive attitude is not welcoming for a small town. Good luck when going in to pick up a package. Since they have started trying to do everything electronically (with you doing most of what you…read morestill pay them for), the customer service SUCKS. Recently it took my wife and I nearly four months of going back and forth to TWO DIFFERENT Post offices in two different states, doing exactly the same thing repeatedly only to be told we had to go to the post office again and prove who we were, just to get our address changed. Who knows how much mail was lost! By the time we finally got it straightened out, it was time to start over because we were moving back to our home state for a few months. When I tried to renew our post office box, at one time I had more than $260 pending (so not available) on my bank account, and their system was still showing I had to renew my box. I finally gave up and sent a cashier's check certified mail. Still do not know if they got it. Trying to talk to customer service just gets you referred to the electronic system. Time for some CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Where do I even start? How about with I have been going to this post office for a couple of years…read morenow and they are consistently failing to deliver packages on time, both in AND out of the post office. After holding your mail hostage for more days than they should be because they "are short staffed" (which hurts all of us, but is not our fault) claiming they "haven't gotten to it yet, come back later today or tomorrow" they won't hesitate to give you late slips without including how many days they've held your mail in the back before putting it in your box and marking it as late and then threatening to send it back. After asking them if they counted the days they held our mail in the back before handing out late slips, I was told by the older lady with the longer greyish-white hair that "that isn't our fault, it's federal." Riiight... Only 2-3 people ever working the entire place at a time, they are short staffed ALL THE TIME and the same older lady with the longer greyish-white hair will patronize you every chance she can get instead of owning up to them making 99.9% of the mistakes they constantly make, probably because she is miserable and/or hates her job. They wonder why people like me come in upset all the time, maybe it's because they haven't apologized or even owned up even ONCE for any mistake they've made thus far? That they can't ever seem to do their jobs correctly? It's always US, the customers, who are the idiots! I have had issues NUMEROUS times with them having packages in the back that were delivered for me just sit there until I bring in a tracking number (they are so lazy about that and won't even check unless you bring in a tracking number), I have had the wrong mail put in my box and have had to drive back more than once, I have had mail delivered with no slips put in my box just sit in the back until I ask about it and I have been given keys for the parcel boxes that have no numbers on them matching the key because "they fell off" and when asking the same older lady with the greyish-white hair I've been dealing with to help me, she promptly goes over to the boxes and points at the numbers like I'm an idiot telling me "Here are the numbers, ma'am, right here." Are you kidding me??? Of course I've done this before, but the box I was looking for had no numbers along with at least a handful of other boxes that were numberless because the place is shit and they had fallen off and I guess she had mistaken me as a mind-reader. She tried to make it out like I'm the idiot, like I've never picked up mail with a key before in the 2 years I've been renting a box and should have known the top box was #25 when none of the boxes are in order and just all randomly numbered. If I could insert an eyeroll here, I would. There is always something they have to do first before they can help you, too! "If you'll just wait a second, I have to help this person who was behind you first" or "If you could just stand over here a second, I'll get to you in a second, I have to do this first." Pink slips left have no names on them for people staying at RV parks. They check the "delivered" box when packages remain sitting at the post office and they don't even try to deliver them half the time, this has happened too many times to count so far and I expect it will happen again. They pick and choose what gets delivered and what gets sent back. Was told by an employee I AM THE ONE responsible to come to the counter and ask if I am expecting anything, which isn't the way it is supposed to be. Long review short, I highly suggest not wasting time at this place unless you want to be disappointed to death. Even after letting the Postmaster know what's up, she has failed to do anything about anything. I'm very close to renting a box over 1+ hour away instead of 2 minutes down the street because of how incompetent people are at their jobs here. Run away as fast as you can unless you're dropping off a letter, you'll thank me later. Don't even think about using this post office during Christmas, either unless you want to lose precious time.
