Really nice and helpful staff. It hasn't always been this way but 2024 is a good year for the Dobbs ferry post office.

i try my best to avoid going to the local post office as i would avoid getting kicked in the privates but i am in dobbs ferry and i need to purchase 2 postal money order and send a letter certified asap. the pros , place is empty , place looks clean and organized, the self service machines will let me bypass dealing with a disgruntled window clerk.plenty of blank forms are available and now forms are easier and quicker to fill out. what a quick, painless, stress free visit to the local post office in dobbs ferry.3.5 stars on my yelp meter . read more

I was helped by both clerks here and they did their jobs well. One clerk helped me with an important package and when his printer when down, the next clerk helped me immediately. Both were apologetic for the short delay when it wasn't their fault and there was no need for an apology. I found that they were doing their best. read more

I understand that you can't provide tape for a large box, but for a box that only uses 10 inches of take come on!. Your supervisor wants you to fallow policies, but I'm sure you are also graded on your customer services. There was no customer service provided by Tori. It's the first time I had to deal with her and I hope will be the last. When I came back with my taped box. She was as unfriendly as she could be. So Dobbs Ferry Post Office. It's ok you can't provide the tape, but the way you communicate and treat your residents is more important than a 10 inch piece of tape. I would suggest you post a sign with the words "we do not have or provide tape". That might be better customer friendly communication. I do love Carmine! This post office is not the worst one I have gone to but it is not the best. Everytime that I go to the post office I tend to be stuck being attended by a lady there who is one of the meanest people I have met in customer service. She is either on her phone on FaceTime or is having an attitude over small issues. She tends to talk to people as if they have a low iq. Anyways there are people that work there who are very nice and accommodating, if i get lucky! read more

First, I think that post offices will no longer exist soon, or many of them will disappear. There are so many things that I used to come to the post office to do, and now I do them from my IPhone. About this post office: I had visits here that took 5 minutes, and I had visits here that took almost an hour (For the same service). My tip to you: Come when there aren't many people (Right at the opening I would come here at 8:50), you will save a lot of time. The people are kind, friendly, and really try to help you. When I got upset once, I told myself that this isn't their fault, they are just doing their job and they are a part of a bigger system. Where to begin. I guess but to say that only living in Dobbs do you get postal service where mail is delivered not to you but to your neighbors. It's like they take "being my brothers keeper" to a whole new level. Over the past several years we've had weeks where mail from as far as Ardsley has been found in our mail boxes. It got so bad this year that many of us on our street decided to deliver the mail to each other as opposed to bringing it back to the post office. Call the post office and you'll speak to someone who seems to want to help you but you hear the same story time after time. It always appears that on that day, the regular mail carrier was "on vacation, sick, there was a carrier from another town assisting them..." and the excuses go on and on. Once, after hearing that I checked surveillance footage to see that we had the same usual carrier the whole week. (scratching head) I mean I could understand if it happened once or twice but it's like whomever is sorting mail there can't read. I seldom wonder as I pick through the wrongly received mail how a carrier can actually pull it out of his/her satchel and apparently NOT read the name on the mailbox verse what they are putting into it. Tell me, how does one not know the difference between say #20 and number #62? Going into the post office is a pot shot. Long lines at times and while there are perhaps two persons there, only one person is helping out at the window. Which when you're waiting on a long line can be frustrating. At least put up the closed sign. I've dealt with a few of the front window personnel and one guy is just terrible. I mean if you don't like your job leave. While another lady gave me one name when I called to complain about misdirected mail and when I got there had a totally different name on her badge. And yes it was her cause I couldn't forget the voice. While I stood in line there were several persons who owned businesses on Main St who has said that they were having the same problem with their mail delivery and they are just right across the street. To be fair, I have to say that there are times when I've gone there frustrated over issues and two of the front window personnel have been rather nice. Carmine has overall been nice. He's had his moments and I guess everyone wants to get out by 5 so being rushed is part of the course. Joanna is a very kinda and sweet lady. Before I enter the building I always hope that I can get her because her customer service is A++! I hear that things are worse in Hastings but at least in Hastings they are getting the mail delivered to the right house or business. It's sad because the USPS continues to loose money and business each year. Perhaps the people working their are over worked and under appreciated. Who's to say. I just want my mail and none of the BS that comes with it. Perhaps if the USPS gave itself an overhaul from top to bottom their satellite office would be much happier places. I've also had nice experiences with the staff inside the post office. That is...when they actually let you in the door. Twice in the course of 8 days they have closed early and turned me away with a package that I needed to mail. Once it was 4:56 on a Friday. Not professional or cool to close early, but there's that part of me that gets it (wanting to close early to start on a weekend). The this past Saturday I arrive at 2:52 (they close at 3:00) and the door is locked! Worse, there are two other people who are trying to get in. This is completely unacceptable. I mean, when every grocery store I've ever been to doesn't lock their doors until the very minute they're supposed to and yet a government agency can't be bothered to actually work a full shift then there's a problem. Lazy. Not a way to serve a community. **NOTE: I called to speak to the manager/supervisor and the man I spoke to (James) was a complete pro and was mortified to hear that this had happened and assured me it would never happen again. I go to the Dobbs Ferry Post Office recently on a Thursday at 4:10 pm to send urgent envelopes of docs for a mortgage. All customer windows closed, though signs state "Open M-F" and give closing time as 5:00. Supplies and blank charge cards still in the lobby. Bang on the metal window covering, call out, since buzz-for-service button does not work. (Note this theme.) Nothing. Hear voices behind the window. Bang some more. Call out some more. Nothing. A policeman from the station next door comes in needing a service. Tell him above. He bangs on window covering, but much louder. Finally, young man pokes his head out from back area; tells us "he went home early." Policeman seems to understand who "he" is. We ask "no one can help us?" Fellow (nice enough, actually, apologetic) says "no; he went home early." Oh, of course. New to Dobbs, but had already heard bad stories about this post office; didn't quite believe all of them. Do now. Ye Who Enter Here: Go to the Ardsley PO. Go to the UPS on 9A in Ardsley. Go anywhere; don't go here -- you might fall into a time warp and end up in the 1970's Soviet Union. read more

The best thing about this post office is Carmine. I've never had such friendly service-- he even remembers your name. I'm sure he must have his bad days, but he NEVER takes it out on customers. This is one professional guy! As for the mail carriers, I do sometimes wonder if they can read. My name and apartment number is clearly marked on my mailbox, but I do get mail meant for other people. When I've called about this, the reason is always, "The regular carrier wasn't on duty." Even if that's true, can't the substitute carrier read? I thought they had to pass an exam to get this job. I don't understand the "no tape provided" rule; I don't know if it's a local or national policy, but it's really stupid. read more

Consistently terrible service. Location was closed early in three of the past four visits. One time it was, "Sorry, computer's down." Another time, the front door was closed by 4:30pm. Today, there was simply no one manning the service station so the only available service was package drop-offs. I don't get why they can't get good people to work the desk. The people working there now clearly hate their jobs and that just brings the whole place down. Carmine, you are sorely missed. read more

I promised Carmine (one of two exceptional Post Officers at the counter) I'd create a Yelp page for the Dobbs Ferry Post Office, so here it is! Five stars are well deserved. I actually live in Hastings, but refuse to go to our Post Office (see review). Dobbs Ferry's Post Office is magnificent. I've been served now by Carmine and Joanna and briefly by the office manager (I think); all of whom have been helpful, kind, and engaging. After being rebuked yesterday in Hastings, I visited Dobb's Post Office for the first time. Joanna was lovely, and she patiently explained my mistake (for which I was chided in Hastings; see aforementioned review) and offered a solution. It was, without hyperbole, among the very best experiences I've had in the economy. Today I sent something else and Carmine also provided excellent service, beginning a pleasant conversation and offering tips for next time. Shipping companies private and federal can be intimidating, but in Dobbs you may expect to be walked through your troubles professionally and courteously. Five stars. read more

Mail delivery in Dobbs Ferry is pretty lame. For such a small village I can't understand why our mail shows up as late as six thirty in the evening. Then you have to hope they put the mail in the correct mailbox. Same thing with packages that I've tracked. It goes out for delivery around nine thirty but might not arrive until eight at night. And forget about getting the package delivered to the front door if you live in a co-op. Christmas isn't that far away so step up your game. read more

I had to call DF Post Office today. First I called the 800 # and the recording said I had a wait time of 40 to 50 minutes. I didn't have 50 minutes to wait so I called the 693 # but no one answered .....I tried 5 times and gave up. I live in Dobbs Ferry but I don't use this post office for many reasons and today just reconfirmed why I don't use it. I prefer to use Ardsley Post Office. read more

Postal workers at Dobbs Ferry are always helpful and pleasant. It's not unusual for workers in any business to make assumptions about how obvious something is, so I appreciate when a person like Carmine, recently made short work of finding the right box for my mailing and exactly how to pack it safely. Crappiest post office EVER! Tracking is pretty much useless if your items are being delivered through this post office. Tracking says it was delivered and it's been two days now and still no delivery. I'll have to call them tomorrow to find out what's going on. I had one other incident where someone who didn't live at my address and didn't have a name that was remotely close to me ended up getting her hands on my slip to pick up a package at the post office. I never gave her authorization to do so. I waited forever to receive my package and finally stopped into the post office to find out where my package was. They told me they already gave it to whomever came in to pick up the package. I asked them whether or not they had a policy of checking ID, the unfriendly man proceeded to tell me yes and then asked me for my ID! What the hell?! He goes to ask me for MY ID and yet, if he had done the same to the other person who took my package, he would have realized the name on the ID doesn't match the name on the slip. So Dobbs USPS has a habit of releasing your packages to anyone who holds the slip?????!!!! Unacceptable. I filed a complaint with the main USPS headquarter, no response or followup of course. And whatever happened to my package? Nothing, I never got it. read more

I can't understand why people think Carmine is great. I went in the other day with a completed passport application, pictures done, copies made, everything ready to go. There was no one in the post office but the best Carmine could do was make me an appointment for the following week. An appointment for something that would have taken five minutes, no longer than processing the average package. So I ended up going to the Jersey City PO, near where I work, and my application was taken care of in minutes by an extremely friendly and helpful lady, no appointment required.
