Received a notification on UPS Package ID 1Z4815XWYW5588729 delivered by USPS on October 23, 2024. If this package was delivered to the Fair Lawn Commons, the 'key' to the package retrieval box was not placed in my mailbox. Upon my return from vacation, the 'key' to the package retrieval box is missing. This is also an issue with UPS, as I am a retired UPS employee and the option to delivery to the UPS store was not issued. Please advise: Where is my package? read more

Fair Lawn Post office on Abbott Road is extremely slow and very long wait. Four people behind me and it seems like I have been waiting forever. Only one clerk at the front desk. They could have at least two. I will not be going here again any time soon. read more

Went in to get my passport application sorted out, however an error somewhere in shipping caused my application, original birth certificate and all to be ripped apart/destroyed by a machine. I received the damaged goods in the mail and went in the day after, the workers were very helpful/understanding and also mentioned how it happened with everyone who applied for a passport that day, which they had never seen before. They refunded my $35 application fee via money order and helped me with a new application, taking a new photo for no charge as well. I had to write a note to be included with the torn apart birth certificate and new application explaining what happened. Despite it being a painful and inconveniencing experience, and it not being the fault of the desk workers there, the helpful staff made it a lot better than I expected it to be. read more

This post office is my least favorite in the area, solely due to the worker(s) at the front desk. Whether you work in retail, a restaurant, or even a front of office government job you should be cordial to any and all customers. I am choosing to use the post office for deliveries. I am a customer. Treat me that way. The man at the front desk here does not seem to care in the least about his job or the people he should be serving and helping. I've been twice now recently and he wasn't the least bit friendly, and was even rude the first time. I've worked in the service industry and in Disney World, so I've been there with rude customers. I walk in and am the only person on line, yet the man takes a few minutes just to look up at me from doing nothing. Not the type of place I want to willingly visit and give my money too. read more

Best thing about this place is that they have an APC (automated postal center). You can accomplish most of your post office tasks here. However, the machine does not accept cash, nor does it dispense money orders. And the lobby is not open 24-hours. Humans are still relevant here... read more

I just left the post office on Abbott. The customer service is horrible. I arrived 6 minutes before 5pm. I waited patiently in line for 2 people ahead of me that were clearly annoying to postal worker Rosie. When I approached - she reminded me it was 5pm. Both her and her coworker were rude. I asked for a label. Filled 1/2 way out and was told I had to write on the item. I tried to explain I had previously used that label and was cut off. I then ripped up said label and then was told it was the correct label. Rosie then gave me a hard time about the address because it was not a traditional mailing address. In the end it was all about them wanting to leave. Not about giving good customer service. Rude and unhelpful!!!! Very disappointed & won't be back read more

I've never had any issues at this post office. While it's true that they're slow when there are a lot of customers, the employees have always been really nice to me. I know that our perception is that people should always be nice to their customers but that's often not the case at government jobs. Granted, I usually have prepaid postage so all I really do is drop off my box and get the receipt but even so, it's not that bad. I would recommend using the automated postage machine. It makes your life a whole lot easier. Their recently extended hours are pretty convenient too. read more

My review is based mainly on their package pickup services. Although I've gone in-person multiple times and the service there is terrible, too. Slow, rude, and unhelpful. I scheduled package pickups from them multiple times and they did not pick them up. I received a confirmation that my package was picked up, only to see the package sitting outside on my porch. I called the manager/someone who works there and he couldn't explain why this happened. He said "Oh well they scan the barcode even if they don't pick up the package". WHAT? That doesn't even make sense. He then changed his story, saying, "Oh the carrier must have been there before you left the package out." This wasn't the case- I physically watched the package sit outside on my porch 24+ hours PRIOR to the pickup date AND have photos with time-stamps to prove his lies and negligence. Has anyone else noticed that as the cost to mail a package or a letter goes up the "service" goes down? My mail is not delivered until 5:45pm and some days it is not delivered at all! I work from home so I am absolutely sure if mail is delivered or not on my street. At least on Saturday the mail is delivered by 5pm, however at least 1 Saturday a month the mail is not delivered at all. I called to speak with the supervisor at the Abbott Road location where my mail is delivered out of and it sounded like I woke him up. When I moved here 10 years ago the mail always arrived around 4pm and also the staff at the Abbott Road location was always very pleasant and very competent. The staff they have now acts as if they are doing you a favor to mail a package that you are paying to send. It must be nice to have a job with union protection because any other corporation would have fired all of them a long time a Just visited today 10/23 - instead of 2 stars I'm dropping it to 1 star. The clerk named "Al" needs to get himself a personality! Did not say 1 word to me during my transaction. Aren't they supposed to try to up sell me a book of stamps? Lol read more

This Post Office has been worse than terrible for many years now. And just today, I was contacted by a company that I do business with. The company informed me that the Post office is returning mail that was properly addressed to me. Consequently, i went to this Post Office to speak to the Postmaster. When I showed her the letter that the company emailed me informing of the problem, her response was to shut the door in my face. read more

Like another reviewer mentioned, they have an APC which makes shipping a pleasure and cuts down on the reaaaaaaaaaly slooooooow service at the window. This is in no way a reflection of the employees but during Christmas when there are a dozen or so people on line, it's probably a good idea to have more than one clerk on duty. read more

Unfortunately mail delivery is very erratic. During these last four months or so have I received no mail on Mondays, the mail carrier preferring to accumulate all mail for Tuesday delivery. On far too numerous occasions I've received mail not addressed to us, but rather to people living on an entirely different street. Today, August the fifth, is the either the fifth or sixth day that NO delivery of any mail has been made. This is in spite of the fact that my business has to be done on a timely matter. Very Fast Moving Line,even if it looks a huge line - within 5 minutes up to 10 customers are served... other post offices in Fair Lawn are very slow and lazy but this location is Amazingly fast moving! read more

The friendliness of the behindthe-counter staff has deteriorated, but most are competent. There are long lines, at times, and one could wish for more people up front. However, they have a do-it-yourself machine that I've used many times when it was too busy up front. It takes letters and packages. Sometimes a postal worker comes out to help with the machine (or if one doesn't, you can knock on the window . The postmaster is helpful, if you knock at the back window (that says "do not knock". Home delivery is another matter. Too often, there are wrong deliveries. The letter carrier(s) (they change frequently) don't pick up mis-delivered items, if you leave them out, with a note. Packages are lost and have to be sent out again by the merchant -- most will do this, if your item has been lost. Given my long experience with post offices, for a little outpost one, it's not bad--could be better, but not if Uncle Sam won't fund the staffing! read more

The last several times I've been to this location I've had the unfortunate experience of dealing with one particular employee (typically works saturday mornings) at the post office on Abbott Rd. Each time I deal with this man, I receive a horrible attitude. He is not receptive to any customer that has questions or needs help and expects the customers to have the answers already. Don't understand how this man is allowed to work with people. To top it off, after dropping off my package more than 24 hours ago, the tracking number still displays that the package has not been dropped at the post office yet. I live 5 seconds down the rd from this location but definitely won't be coming back. read more
