The clerk who assisted me today (clerk 40 @ 2:45pm 3/14/26) A black women was extremely rude and impatient. There was no greeting, and she was on her phone chatting with a friend while helping me. She scanned my first two packages and then ran out of label paper. Without saying anything, she left her station. When she returned, it took another 10 minutes for her to put paper into the machine. Since those were the only packages I had, I simply let her know that was all and that I just needed the receipt. She then yelled back at me, saying, "You see what I'm doing, right? You need to hold on." While still being on her phone. I was very caught off guard because I was only informing her that I didn't have any additional packages for her to scan. I felt extremely disrespected by the way I was spoken to. No customer deserves to be treated with that level of rudeness. I let this lady know that I didn't need her attitude and she proceeds to tell me I'm giving her a attitude first, the gaslight is real with this postal worker Unfortunately, experiences like this explain why this post office location receives so many negative reviews. Management need to retrain current ghetto employees professionalism ( only certain ones of a particular race always gives me a hard time ) I think they are the ones that people wrote all the negative reviews on and this affects the location as a whole. rehire new employees. So this was the closest post office and served my late sisters area. I was there thanks to court delays, to file paperwork to forward her mail (Over a year after she past!). The line was somewhat long, but it moved pretty fast. The lady that I dealt with was pleasant, efficient, and polite. Not much more than you can ask for. read more

Someone working within the FHPO steals mail they believe contains checks. We've had several pieces of mail undelivered because the envelopes appeared to contain cards plus our federal tax return was stolen and cashed in 2024. Be very careful with what passes through this particular PO, we made the supervisor aware and filed a formal complaint with USPS but the same happened again as recently as last month. I reported my credit card was stolen on October 3rd, and today October 7th, my card is being used by someone who took my card from the lost and found at the Forest Hills Queens Blvd. post office. Not the most window clerk friendly post office around but this Queens post office is empty and no waiting and even better they have a few self service kiosk machines which means no interaction with disgruntled postal employee. The cost of mailing stuff via the USPS has gone thru the roof the last couple of years or so but it's still the fastest and cheaper option to mail stuff . I got here early (two hours early), because we thought they'd take us in earlier as the place barely had anyone. However, we were wrong as the workers told us that we had to wait until one pm. Remind you, we got here at ELEVEN AM! They then proceeded to tell us that if we ask about our appointment again, they will cancel our appointment. May I add that they said that they would call us? I think you can already guess that they in fact did not call us in the hour that we had already waited. Pardon me, however these workers seem like they hate their jobs. The lady that was in charge of passports (we came to renew passports) proceeded to complain to us, claiming that we were giving her a hard time when we simply asked a question regarding our appointment. WOW, isn't this just peak customer service? Customer happiness is truly respected here as the workers sI came here because I saw that there was a lot of space and not many people came here, but now I see why. The customer service here and the workers themselves are insufferable and inefficient. First time coming here, and last time they said they would call us, yet they never did. Never coming here again. Want to have a mailbox rental at this location mainly due the the history of the building. I was disappointed with the customer service I received!!! I submitted a request online to rent a mailbox followed all the indications made the payment and printed the completed 1093 form as indicated. The next day I went to the location I selected to bring the completed form and all the required IDs and as soon it was my turn I provided the completed form and I was asked what it that for. It took her about 20 seconds to realize it was a mailbox rental form and then she asked someone else to assist because she didn't know what to do, hum. I was provided with the same 1093 form to be completed again by hand, so I completed the same form again and handed it over. Now she says that I can't add other people's names on the same form, where it clearly indicates that I can add other persons' names that I want to authorize to receive mail. In the end, I had it with their B.S. and requested to cancel my application she said, nothing to be canceled because I never activated the mailbox and that I was not charged. NOT TRUE, I was charged the full amount. I had to contact the USPS and get someone who knew what they were doing and get my refund. FYI also provided all the IDs required from the other persons that I want to authorize access to that mailbox. Nowhere in the forms mention that the other parties need it to be present. This was my experience at this location and I'm so glad I will never have to visit this USPS location again. Others may had other more positive experiences but this was my experience and if someone asked me I would not recommend it due to the misleading information not to mention the rudeness, unprofessional, and inadequate way to represent the USPS. :) But I have now my mailbox with UPS, sorry USPS. This is the main list office for this area so it can get quite busy here. I think at least part of the reason is also the customer service is pretty lacking here. I've been coming here for a very long time in what I can broken time. I used to frequent this location probably a few times a week over 10 years ago. It got chaotic for sure. They do have a Full Passport Service Window here as well, which is a separate line which sometimes confuses people. They have PO Boxes here as well. These days, I really try to limit my use of this Post Office to dropping off mail. read more

The postal service is a disgrace. I signed up for Informed Delivery a yesr and a half ago. Six days a week I am supposed to get a email alerting me to the mail I should be expecting. Some days I get it and others days I don't. When I've called or emailed customer service I get back nonsense. They try to blame me for my setting or browser. It's impossible to explain to them that if I got the notice on a Wedesday and a Friday the fact that I didn't receive it on a Thursday is nothing I caused. Maybe there was no mail. Not the case as I still received mail. He's the best -- when I wrote to the USPS I got back a reply that their mailbox was full. Actually kind of amusing when you think about it. Wowzers the line was concert long. I thought they were giving away free stamps and free shipping. There were so many people in here that I wasn't sure if they'd take my package. At least 16 people were waiting to be called by the teller. Some transactions were fast and some moved awfully snail-slow. Much to my surprised they didn't close the doors which allowed additional people to walk in 10 to 5pm, their closing time. This place has a old school vibe with 6 six service windows. It was pretty cool to see that they have two self-service machines. However, one machine was out of order. read more

There was one person on the line when I arrived at 2:45 pm. Efficient, friendly service. The line grew to a handful of people when I was on the way out. I've mailed my post and letters here without any issue. Today, the woman that was handling my order made this huge thing about me putting my package on the side of the scaling machine (which they always asked me to do whenever I send stuff out so they can get an exact weight). "Why would you do that? You need to fix it if you want me to do anything." Why? You need to open it from your side, just move your arm a little more and put it on the scale. I wasn't doing it out of spite, they always ask me to place it on the side when I do it. Don't act rude like I have it out for you. I took my package back and left. I've walked here to mail letters and parcels every week since our Covid-19 Lockdown began in March- it has become my weekly ritual. I listen to a podcast during my walk, and that's been heavenly. Each of my experiences here have left me smiling because this station takes our safety very seriously. Their concern shows: only 10 people have been allowed inside at a time, which made for a relaxing, stress-less experience. Do not go to this location for passport services. My 15 minute appointment turned into almost 2 hours because of the person who handles passport appointments. Every step of the process she was difficult and nasty. She tried to make everything a problem. She entered in the $$ I gave her incorrectly and accused me of not giving her enough $. I try to suggest that maybe she made an error. She replied I never make mistakes. Made me stand there while she counted her drawer. When her drawer was in balance, she never apologized. I had to ask her if I her drawer was balanced to which she replied It is what it is. This person should not work in a public facing role since they are unable to give decent customer service. Service is utter snail slow as there is always long wait. This post office is full-service as it has a separate line for U.S. Passport registration and renewal. Confusion to postal customers of what line is for U.S. Passport vs. regular postal service fend illusions and aggravation. This building maybe relic but has architectural significance since it is registered with the National Register of Historic Places. read more

US Post Offices. An essential service that somehow, always draws people's ire, along with terrible reviews. I'd guess most consider their experiences neutral, or mission accomplished, just not in any way worth mentioning. The Forest Hills Post Office is in a historic building dating back to the 1930s, in a modernist style at the time that is largely unremarkable now: a boxy, single level building neither tall nor short, its exterior all dusty red-brown tiles, with an Art Deco-style sculpture above the Queens Blvd entrance. It occupies a spacious corner location, with a lot of sidewalk space all around; on Sundays, the Forest Hills Greenmarket takes over that whole area. The interior decor is all old-school USPS. Accessible at all business and lobby hours are mail slots, PO boxes, two self-service kiosks, a package drop box, and Priority mail boxes and forms. By appointment, this branch also processes passport applications. I've used this branch most often to drop off letters, mail smaller boxes and buy stamps via kiosk, and mail some items through the window clerks. The clerks who have serviced me have always taken care of the task in straightforward fashion, efficiently, and without issue. I always know what I need so I've not had to ask for advice. Glad to have a postal branch close by, with weeknight lobby hours late enough that I can get there prior to closing for my most common transactions. read more

Why is this post office so bad? It's not the long lines (many post offices do); it's not the rude employees (low paid, petty bureaucrats who hate their jobs have existed since time immemorial); but the fact that this post office WILL LOSE YOUR PACKAGE more often than others. You might tape your package expertly, put the prepaid label on clearly, stand on line patiently, watch the clerk scan the label with hawk eyes and verify it has been tossed into a waiting postal bin, but like magic, the PACKAGE OFTEN DISAPPEARS AFTER YOU LEAVE. Why? I had a 100% success rate with packages shipped out of the Main Manhattan post office on 33rd street, but the ONE package I shipped from Forest Hills ended up in the Bermuda Triangle. After reading many others' reviews, I learned I'm not the only one and it's too much of a coincidence that so many packages being accepted from this location go missing. Until the USPS or some outside agency (I'm looking at you, Help Me Howard!) conducts a sting operation, I'm not going to drop off any more packages here. I'd rather waste an extra 30 minutes taking the E,F,R or M to 34th street and wait on a long line at the NYC main post office, where the pain of waiting will at least be rewarded with knowing that my package, in all likelihood, will be delivered. read more

The info woman is actually so rude, I request a redelivery on Friday, the package needs my signature to be delivered so I stay at home all day waiting for that, but no one came so I went to the office to ask what is going on, she told me it gonna be sent out tomorrow so I have to stay at home for one more day to wait for that. This three sure feels every bit of a four, maybe more -- what came before I'm powerless to change and feel it's appropriately well deserved, I just caught 'em on an exceptional customer service day. Maybe it WAS Customer Appreciation Day..! Im taking a deep gasp of a possible realization breath, but I doubt it, she must have been new or on double secret probation at a minimum. Shipping back a return of something light and large, I dressed it all up in its return label Monday morning best. Ready to zip in and out, I got there at opening but stood around a bit on the passport line unsure why nobody was at the window, then it clicked. And how the hell am I supposed to get any reading done if you people keep nicely telling me the correct line I need to be standing in. Of all the freakin nerve. So after two brutish belly to box superplexes into the incubator looking parcel drop, she wasn't going through -- beaten by a box. The employee door swung open and two white surgical gloves came toward me from around the doorway. I never saw a face, I didn't see past the elbow area -- but I did hear many pleasantries floated in my direction that appeared to be eminating from the gloved person. So pleasant was she that I told her gloves so and when she appeared behind the package incubator machine, I told her so. I told her this was how customers should be spoken to, I told her that we come in peace and are only here to mail out out worthless Ebay crap and send homemade cookies to Granny. I told her that myself and everyone I know hate this post office, have for years and pretty much every worker in here and I told her thatn she's shifted the tide now and that's something to be proud of and others should follow her , a true pioneer. I told her every one i know doesn't want to hate every worker in here at all, we're just conditioned in the classical abusive sense of customer service relationships that resemble Friday night dinner and a movie with the Hatfields and McCoys and that it's no way to run a business. This post office is by far the worse. I visited this post office maybe around 10times by now and they have yet to satisfy my postal needs. First thing as soon as you walk in you see a long line but if you don't know that's the passport line. They have a tiny sign they put up when the line is close but you can nearly see it so people still continue to join the line. That's when this little lady appear and start yelling that the line is close. Then the lady disappear. They have Kiosk that they highly recommend. One visit I waited online cause I needed to speak with someone. The little lady appear again and ask if I was paying with credit card or cash. I stated credit card but I had a question about the package I was mailing out she told me since I didn't have cash I had to go to the kiosk and she would answer my question. However, as soon as I got off the line she disappeared like a Ninja again. So now I'm at the kiosk having so many issues and no one to help me. Another time I visit this post office I waited in line for 10 mins no complaints it went fast and as I approached I ordered stamps then I notice I needed a money order they told me the machine wasn't working. Then on another occasion I needed another money order and they said the wifi was down so I couldn't buy anything if I wasn't paying cash. So I give up.
