Two days ago, one of my packages had been deemed undeliverable because it couldn't fit in my mailbox. The package was neither huge nor heavy, but the courier made no attempt to ring the leasing office and hand it to them instead. I opted to pick up the package the next day through the USPS website. I showed up yesterday to a long line of people and only one employee. Luckily, no one had been standing in the customer pickup line so I figured I'd be out in a couple minutes. I waited for 5 minutes before asking the front desk employee if anyone had been servicing the customer pick up line... he replied emotionlessly, "nope, it's just me." Lovely. I switched to the general service line and waited another 15 minutes. Two other customers even abandoned their spot frustrated. By the time I get to the front and ask for my package, I'm told that they can't find it; the delivery driver must've mistakenly attempted to deliver it again. Well, that was an incredible waste of time, but at least a courier will attempt to deliver my package again today, right? Hopefully? Nope. The tracking number didn't show any attempt to redeliver so I had to pay this dreadful post office another visit today. Miraculously, they found my package in the back this time and I didn't bother questioning how. Over the years, I've learned to spend as little time as possible here. Avoid coming to this location. The USPS on 23rd St runs much smoother despite its smaller size and crowded surroundings.

When my tracking number showed delivered, I showed up a few hours later to pick up the package. A different lady was able to locate my package but only brought out 1 of 2 and asked if that was it. It stated 1 of 2 on the box so she then went and found the 2nd package. While waiting for her to locate the package, a very nit happy man was in talking to the other lady (the one who'd stamped my orange paper the week before) and was angry that he'd been paying for a PO Box and they just closed it without his knowledge, with zero warning, with no forwarding addres, even though he had been paying for it. The employee told him basically to calm down & get over it and was in my opinion very unprofessional when it was their fault he was in this situation. I'd already read reviews about how awful this post office was so I knew to expect the worst & the exact reason I arrived the day of delivery before they had time to lose my package. I felt bad for the guy who still had his PO Box keys in hand and them telling him to get over the fact they screwed him over with zero warning. Pretty messed up to pay for a service they steal from you with no refund and then tell you to calm down & get over the fact they failed at their job. Yikes!

And being an island, that means you can go all over the island on a Segway. This city has so many awesome parts, the fishery, the industrial seaside (oil rigs and humungous ocean ships with their containers of who knows what), the Strand, other cool downtown areas (check out Post Office street), fantastic historic mansions, funky architecture, interesting neighborhoods and also the beaches. And you can see it all on a Segway, with a helpful and knowledgeable local guide. We met D and she was great. This is a fantastic way to see Galveston. We also liked the Duck Boat tour, but this is so much closer and more personal on a Segway tour. I will do this again next time I'm in Galveston, and I will seek out Segway tours in other cities where I travel. Including my own city this coming summer. Much fun.

I can't tell you how many times I've been left a key for a parcel box and have someone else's…read morepackage. The amount of money I have lost because the tracking says "Delivered" yet not delivered to me. So it's hard to dispute. I have made multiple trips to the post office to ask about the mail courier's ability to just read the label. I have never lived any place where the mail couriers mess up 4 times out of 5 most days. If not my package, my neighbors!
