I was a bit flustered when I was in the store. I bought 80 stamps and was charged $76. When I got home I realized that the actual cost of the stamps was $62.50. That is quite an up charge for stamps. Also the stamps I received were dated in 2016 and no longer sold at the post office. We are visiting from out of town, so I am not familiar with the store, but it is very frustrating to be overcharged. read more

Went to drop off a pre-labeled Fed-EX package. The gentleman working there would not scan the package & told me to just leave it against the wall. Everywhere else I have been will gladly scan the package, so you have proof it was left. Felt uneasy about this but since this was an authorized Fed Ex drop off location I put the package against the wall. The man then looked over & said that it had one of those funny labels. Informed the man that the label was printed off from the Fed Ex website. He stated that Fed Ex did not like those labels & that I would need to scratch off the tracking number otherwise Fed Ex would lose the package on purpose since they did not like the label I printed from their website. Informed the man this did not make any sense & he responded that I would need to leave his store. Gladly left with package in hand. read more

I have been to this store multiple times over the years and have never had a good experience. I keep thinking "well, maybe it's a fluke, or I'm overreacting", so I decided to give it another chance. I walk in, the "gentle"man continued to watch something on his computer while I stood there, unacknowledged. Finally, he stopped whatever he was watching and looked up at me. I had a FedEx package that needed a label. FedEx sent an email with a QR code with instructions to take it to any participating location and they can print the label. He informed me that he doesn't work for FedEx to which I replied, " I know, but aren't you a participating location?" His reply: "yes, but I don't print labels, can't you print it?" When I said that I guess I could go home and print it, he said "I don't know what to tell you". So, my initial thoughts of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE still hold true, and that's being generous. I went home, printed a label, took it to Walgreens who has a big sign that says if you don't have a label, they'll print it! This took over two hours and included multiple computer steps while dealing with the client by long-distance 'phone. Dear Galveston Islanders and Visitors, I just had a horrible experience at THE MAILROOM, and it must be shared. I asked the man to scan my FEDEX Package so that I would have a Drop-Off Receipt and he refused, telling me to "Put them over there". I gave the man a second chance to make it right as I asked him a second time to scan the package so that I could get a Drop-Off Receipt. Instead, he chose to double-down and said, "NO", again. Then said, "Put them over there". Not only was his responses disturbing, but the tone in which they were delivered was uncalled for. What's strange is that several days before, he had scanned 6 packages for me, which took about 6 seconds to do. In this instance, there was 1. There is a woman who also works there with whom I have spoken with before. She is a very nice lady. I have known her to always be kind and pleasant. She witnessed what had happened and I could tell by the expression on her face that she was embarrassed by the man's behavior. I was embarrassed as well, as there were other customers who had witnessed what had happened and how he spoke to me. I did not make a scene. I simply turned around and walked out, taking the package with me. There is a reason why this business has a 3.5 Star Google Review Rating. I encourage everyone to simply take a look at the past negative Google and Yelp reviews for this business and you will easily be able to identify the common denominator and the consistent behavioral pattern. Statistics show that when someone has a good experience, he/she tells 3 people out of every 10. And when someone has a bad experience, he/she tells 7 people out of every 10. Word of mouth can be the best advertisement known to mankind. And It can also be the worst. Imagine owning a business in Galveston and being known for the mistreatment of valuable customers. "It's a small world". SAD.... Additionally, don't just post reviews. After frequently leaving angry at the price of postage via The Galveston Mailroom, I finally became suspicious. $32 to mail an 8"x 8" bubble wrap envelope out of state? $24 for a small 3 oz. box? I went to the UPS store down the street and mailed the same 8"x 8" envelope for $12. Seems that a mom and pop business can charge whatever they can get away with. I always liked them because they were friendly and convenient. (They were friendly and convenient at the UPS Store, too.) No more! Customers beware. read more

I've been here a few times and it's always a good experience. They have a huge variety of packing supplies that are super cheap. I end up paying about half what I do at USPS if I buy supplies and purchase a shipping label here. They have FedEx, USPS, and UPS drop offs, so you can mail pretty much anything you pack here. This is a Great Office. The family treats you like one of their own and will go above and beyond to get your packages out or Accept Delivery on Your Behalf. The guy at the counter was so rude. I asked if I could weigh a package to make sure I had paid enough postage for the click n ship that I wanted to mail there. He proceeded to tell me without even looking at the label that I did not need to weigh it to which I said I certainly did and showed him the part of the label indicating the weight. He then said that I had paid way too much, that if I had chosen flat rate priority mail, I would have had to pay only $5 as opposed to what I did pay and said that I needed to do my research--implication being that I'm too stupid to live. Nevermind that what I paid was not much more than $5 and that I had it very well insured, which added to the cost. I would have paid the man $10 just to shut up. I learned in Kindergarten that rude people often suffer from gastrointestinal distress, and he looked like that might be the case. read more

I received great service here. I had a pair of stadium seats from the Astrodome that I wanted to ship to my home in Ohio; they weighed about 100 lbs. total. My first stop was at the UPS Store. The employee over there quoted me $250, and seemed generally disinterested in helping me out. I headed over to the Mail Room, where I dealt with a really helpful guy named Steve. Right off the bat he quoted me $191. Then he suggested that we try to detach the two seats from each other, to get an even better rate. He went and got a socket set, we got the two seats split apart, and I was out the door for $151. He probably spent about 25 minutes providing me with great service. It was like night and day versus dealing with the UPS Store. Skip the UPS Store and go right to these guys. read more

We were selling our house out of state and needed notary services and FedEx for the documents. We were warned by our title company that the county recorder was very picky about how the notary documents had to be prepared. The Galveston Mailroom folks gave us extra attention to make sure our documents were prepared "just so", and they also provided copy services and FedEx shipping when we were done signing the documents. i had a package shiipped to a friend and used their service. This was one of the worst expiences in my life. After shipping the package I had to travel overseas for work. I had the package billed to a credit card. They harassed me for 3 months. about not paying. I called the credit card and it had already been debited. I finally go in personally with my reciept after spending $100 in travel to get there and they found out it was there mistake. They still treated me like it was my fault and was very rude about it.
