The Post Office in Mineola looks old and tired, with a rather depressing appearance that can be quite off-putting. The Postal brick building has an old traditional apperance which fits well in the town. Recently, I have been having issues when it comes to holding mail and forwarding services. The service from government-employed postal workers can also be inconsistent; sometimes good, sometimes not so much. However, the service for ordinary mail packaging was good today. On the other hand, if the mail service were privatized, prices might increase, but the quality of service could improve significantly. For example, I often use UPS stores, which are privately owned, and their service is consistently excellent. However, changing the current system would require an act of Congress. There are substantial legal and political obstacles to privatizing the Postal Service, which makes such a transition complex and challenging.

Great post office for shipments and passport photos and processing. They also have a drive thru…read moremail slot drop. The drop has 3 height levels to assist different size vehicles. The postal workers behind the counters are very friendly and get you in and out quickly. There is also an automated/self service machine in the lobby if you want to do it yourself, trust me, wait on line, the machine is a pain! The place opens at 11:00 am and the parking is limited, if you cant find a space pull over to the side and wait, if you leave the parking lot, you can only make a right turn and it will take you forever to get back to the post office Don't even think about making a Left on Stewart Ave, YOU WILL DIE! Stewart Ave makes the infamous "Queens Boulevard of death" look tame in comparison. Happy shipping!

There is always parking.The people who work there are helpful and nice even if the line is long. When the line is long, the self service machine is a good alternative, but can be difficult to use a times. Theres always someone there to help you if you get stuck at the machine ( I speak from experience). Side note, theres a camera at that traffic light, so dont go through a yellow...almost a red light...you will get a ticket.

Where is the Yale St mail? There has been no explanation or communication. On top of that, when mail is delivered, it doesn't arrive until around 6:30 PM every day, which is far too late for dependable service. Mail delivery should be timely and reliable, especially when customers are being notified that items are supposed to arrive. This situation needs to be rectified immediately. Our neighborhood deserves better service. Reliable mail delivery is a basic expectation, not a luxury.
