They screw up getting mail to us, they don't take responsibility for their screw up; they can't be bothered to answer questions unless you come into the office. Even the office on Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland doesn't do its job and answer questions. Each year they keep saying they need more money per stamp, but the service quality drops more each year. It has the usual P.O. boxes for rent, and a small store inside with boxes, packages, and other supplies to purchase, along with the usual Priority/Express supplies. There is a clean counter to use to prep your items with pens, etc. The gentleman who works here is polite and helpful. I've spent time prepping things at the counter and have overheard him dealing with other customers and he is very patient and kind, especially considering how many elderly appear to use this particular branch.

And it's not that the service is especially terrible here (slow to be sure, but the clerks are at least pleasant), it's the location, size and poor layout of the place itself. Also, the sign is parallel - not perpendicular - to the street. You know how many times I've driven past this place because I couldn't tell it was a post office?! First of all, it's located on the fastest intersection of S Florida Ave and also the most cramped. I'll bet accidents are common here. Secondly, the parking lot is extremely cramped. I almost got T-boned pulling into it because a car in the first parking space was backing out as I was pulling in and there's no way to go around a car backing out (unless you have a moped maybe). Additionally, there are not one, not two, but THREE wicked blind spots you have to navigate through just to GTFO (see photos). As for the actual post office it's very cramped. The hallways are narrow, the main room is also tiny and quiet. There's usually not too many people here and yet the clerks still take forever to complete transactions. At least they're friendly. There's just no reason to go here. The downtown branch is only a mile or two away and has much easier access parking and a much bigger space. Unless you live within walking distance, I see no reason to use this branch.

You need to make an appointment ahead of time so when you do that they help you pretty swiftly. The guy working when I was there was very friendly and helpful. They also have a big front desk where you can get other services and several people working there to get the line through. Another thing that was new to me here is an electronic do-it-yourself section where you can get mail and packages sent without needing an actual person to help, kind of cool.
