One of which should be removed because this local post office is certainly not in charge of its website having the wrong number listed. A few years ago they threatened to close this small post office and there was such an outcry against that proposal, that the closure did not happen. The United States postal service is part of America's promise to its citizens. It is a social service that our tax dollars pay for and as such it should not be subject to Capitalist schemes wherein they are responsible for delivering FedEx or UPS packages for less money than we as direct customers pay. I will drive past the brookfield post office to head to the one in Lagrange park just be greeted kindly when shipping an item. They ask how my wife and kids are doing and it breaks my heart to know they are underpaid and unappreciated doing the job that helped make America a better place to live. I recently visited this post office to get my fingerprints done. While waiting, the postmaster (or…read morea company employee who seemed to be in charge) loudly called for additional help up front because some staff who should have been there weren't present, trying to get the line moving faster. Eventually, Cindy assisted us. She was a bit curt at first, but things became less awkward once the fingerprinting process began. The fingerprint service costs $50, but you must register beforehand and bring a barcode and confirmation number to be serviced. I also learned they offer passport and other identity services, which is convenient. Just keep in mind they close at 3p on Saturdays, which is earlier than many other locations. Overall, it was an okay experience, but coming prepared with your registration details helps expedite the process.

On Mon., 08/04/2026, I became aware of how dysfunctional the USPS had become. I had a simple…read moretransaction which was to get a refund on an USPS money order which I had purchased and was still in possession of. The retail counter clerk at the Maywood, IL USPS was not very helpful or customer service oriented. The clerk replied that I needed the original paper receipt for the purchase of the money order to get a refund. I expressed that I had never been requested to provide the receipt before to get a refund for an USPS money order before that I had purchased and was in possession of. Like a parrot, the clerk just repeated the same answer. At this point, I just left as it was fruitless. I did not have the patience to go the route of asking to speaking to her manager, even though, I knew what the clerk had told me was "garbage". Needless to say, I was able to complete the refund of the money order at a USPS in Wheaton, IL without any trouble and a smile. The Wheaton USPS simply asked for my identification and validated the money order through their computers. It sad that USPS has deteriorated to a point of where there is no uniformity and lack of consistency across locations. It is apparent that you have to go to certain USPS locations to receive quality service and a positive outcome.

Lol I didn't get the gentleman's name who helped me at the counter. I accidentally mixed up the two packages that he scanned for me, but he quickly resolved it without issue. I wish I got his name because he provided excellent customer service and was quite cheerful. Even with my mixup, I was in and out of there within a few minutes . Another thing I noticed on my drop off package receipt, is that they provide a discount code for some of their services. Their prices are already reasonable, so this is a nice little bonus. Another bonus is that Petra falafel recently opened. I grabbed one of their take-out menu so that I can easily order from them in the future.

He responded "i'm also not re-taping your package" This is not a free tape store. You can purchase tape from me, but i'm still not shipping the one not double boxed. Are you kidding me. Its so sad its comical. If Alex was 17 years old with no work experience, and no idea how to treat a customer. I could understand. But he was a manager in his 40's.
