We delivered 140 wedding invitations to 1740 Universal Ave, KCMO location on Feb 5, 2024 for a large wedding. On average, the wedding invitations took 17-30 days for guests to receive them. Some guests still do not have their invitations and it is now March 7th. MORE THAN ONE MONTH LATER! RSVP's were due March 1st in order to report guest count to the venue, caterer, service rentals and hotel accommodations. We have had to manually handle RSVPs by calling, texting and emailing in order to work through the guest count. I have received nothing but rudeness and "there is nothing we can do" answers from this location. Even better-the postal worker snidely mentioned that we should have mailed them "certified" so there would be a tracking number?! Is the USPS so bad that we can not depend on mail service with first class mail and have to spend $10-20/envelope just to be sure it arrives? Highly recommend to anyone planning a wedding to invite guests electronically. The USPS is NOT reliable!

On Friday, September 19th 2025, I received a notice a package had been delivered to my mailbox. This has happened twice now. It wasn't delivered but they also didn't have it at this location. They claimed it was delivered to someone else in a different part of town. Would not confirm it was in my name or anything. That isn't the only issue though. While I was in line waiting for them to find my mysterious package. There is a couple with their child that doesn't speak English. Another customer had to come and translate which was awesome of her. The elderly lady turned away from them and I hear her mumbling about "illegal immigrants need to just disappear." Noticed I heard her and avoided looking at me when the lady looking for this package came back. I STILL have no flu what that package was. But that lady needs to be talked to about her statements. Talk like that is costing people their jobs right now. Also, about a month ago I went to pick up a package and they gave me someone else's. I did not realize it until I was on my way home. I delivered it to the right person.

USPS has jobs available. Yes, sometimes, they are closed. Not enough employees to run this location. I am happy with the service I receive from the employees I see regularly. They are business like. They don't have to be warm and fuzzy. Today, the lady who is always present was helping an elderly gentleman who could no longer print on paper. She filled out ALL of his paperwork. She was very polite and gentle with him. He fretted over an address, and she took the time to add some additional information on his envelope. He apologized for being too much trouble, and she made him feel important. She helped me once with a customs form. Much appreciated.

And the staff here is always so nice and friendly, which isn't always common in post offices. Ask for Kirby, he's the best! This post office is on the second floor of City Center Square downtown--I think it's the only PO downtown? Not sure on that one, but I'd always rather go to this post office then the one by my apartment where I always end up waiting in line for 10 years. If you work downtown, this place is handy!
