Texas Post office has its own system! We needed new keys for our mail box as we just moved from CA and it s a 5 week wait and $50 non refundable. Then any mail forwarded is sent to a different post office further away that is a not full service. It's a disaster to get mail! First off this is maybe the 2nd or 3rd review I've ever posted in my life but just wanted to post so no one wastes their time in the future if they are cutting it close getting to this place before they close. No wonder our government agencies get a bad rep. Drove 25 min to drop off two envelopes that I needed a receipt for. Got there literally 30 seconds after they close at 4:30 and was told we're closed. I told them I drove 25 min and it was 30 seconds after 4:30 and they didn't care. I get it if it was a couple min past 4:30 or more but 30 seconds... come on guys where's the passion to serve. I have gone before to change my address, the employees then told me that I had to go all the way to Katy. I did that. Once I got the verification they would not verify it at this post office. I live in Brookshire. I'm not sure of the lady but the man, Garcia is a rude and disrespectful human being. Never before have I had t this bad of service at a post office. read more

I don't know who normally delivers the mail in Katyland but whoever it is recently needs to learn how to put the mail IN the mail box. More than once it's been halfway sticking out of the box and I just had to get two pieces of mail from my yard and my NEIGHBORS yard. Not very hard. Even if you have to get out for 2 seconds to put the mail in. Pure laziness and poor professionalism. And now the next day I go to get the mail it's halfway sticking out and soaked, all of the mail is ruined there's no way I can tell what the bills say or anything. read more

Worst post office!! The lines are horrendous and there is no parking. Then I go to simply drop off a pre-Labeled smaller bag that wouldn't fit through the slit they have because the line was out the door and I didn't need anything from the people and they wouldn't let me just drop it off. They said I had to wait in the long line to just drop it off! I will driver farther just not to go here next time!! read more

This is the closest USPS to home. While there is adequate parking in an adjacent overflow lots, it gets super crowded during lunch time and holidays. Be sure to "look alive" while standing in line, since you might get people who cut in front of you or verbally beep you if you don't lunge toward the next available teller. When you have had it with the attitude you get at the Park Row location, then take the drive into Old Katy and visit this one. The parking lot at the Park Row location was full which should be expected since it's Xmas time, but I decided to take a chance and drive out here. I figured even if this place was packed, not having to deal with the attitude of the employees would make it worth it! And it definitely was! This place is tiny and I passed it up the first time I tried to find it. The parking lot only holds about 5 cars. But I was in and out QUICK and so was everyone else who came here to mail something! I'll definitely go out of my way to come back to this one if I ever need anything! read more

I went into this Katy location on 4th street to drop off a prepaid package. I miscalculated the weight of the package so I needed to adjust the label but then the woman at the counter proceeds to tell me that since the return address was the city of Richmond, the package could only be dropped off at a Richmond post office . She said that they were being audited on why the packages were taking so long to get from point A to point B. The fact that she said all of this was ridiculous. My return address has nothing to do with where I submit my package . I took it upon myself to call the usps and they said that it isn't true . I can drop a package off at any us postal office I would like. So I'm going back tomorrow and sending my package off like I should've. She should definitely be retrained because she doesn't know what she is talking about . read more

The best thing about this location is the staff. EVERYONE is friendly and helpful. I took off stars for the reasons below. the place is not stocked with some type of express and priority boxes I need, but I order them online now so it's not a daily issue. This location closes earlier than most ...4:30 pm sharp! I think someone should change this. This area is growing so the volume warrants them being open til 5:30. There are no mail receptacles that accept packages like some of the other locations. Only letters. Parking is cramped and unavailable at times. On occasion the mid day pick up happens earlier than scheduled. Over all the people are why I keep coming back here. Always smiling, speedy, just great customer service. read more

Great people and great place. Im all for supporting the "small town" businesses . On another note, as far as people "having enough" with getting the wrong mail.....no one is perfect. Typical post office. People who work for the government who forget they are servicing the citizens who fund their salaries and pensions. Mail drop box was actually locked at 4:15 pm today. No notice. No sign. Christmas comes the same time every year... I just don't understand how they are never prepared for the influx of mail. read more

When is the postal worker going to quit giving people the wrong mail? The community of Firethorne has had enough.

The service waivers in person, regarding the employees. Some of them are friendly, some are just there to collect a check. One old man is rude and cranky. Also, if you do eBay, I suggest not dropping you package here. They reweigh it and if it is off. They hold the package for days. You won't find out until your customer complains. Better to take the package straight to the annex on the other side of the freeway anyway, to save a day of delivery. Both this location and the annex do not answer their phones. The phone rings, after a long time a recording asks for a remote access number-- and then hangs up. The annex number just rings and then hangs up. I will say for service, this location is far better than the Pin Oak location. read more

I have called for days. They never pick up the phone. Twice now I have dropped off my packages before 10AM for the 1PM truck pick up. Both times never scanned till the next day and placed Priority boxes in the next days mail. They are always too busy and offer little help. Also no Large package drop off. You have to stand in the 30 to 45 min line to do anything here. read more

I tried to phone the post office to advise that our mail carrier was consistently delivering mail to our mail box that was for another resident. On the envelope the house number is the same but the street name is not ours. We live in the 77493 Zip Code. I tried to call the Katy post office but the line disconnected while waiting for someone to pick up the phone. I called the 800 number for our area and was told there was a 50 minute wait to speak to an agent. We drive to the correct address to deliver the mail but there is no excuse for the carrier not to read the address properly. read more

Since Marty retired, they only have two individuals (Terri and Bernie) who have to work the entire Post Office (counter, sort mail, move around heavy boxes, load trucks, etc.). When one goes to lunch, that means there is only one person to work the counter resulting in very long lines. The Postmaster for this area does not seem to want to do anything about it, but he needs to get off his ass and find a solution to this problem. 30 years ago when we first moved to Katy, the size of this Post Office was fine, but Katy and Fort Bend County have exploded in population since then without any new offices being built. Just goes to show on inefficient and how little the USPS cares about the public and who pay their salaries. They need to be sold and go private, then about 1/3 of the postal employees fired due to poor attitudes. read more

I live in NYC, my friend/colleague lives in Katy, TX and uses this post office to send packages to me. We work together and so she frequently needs to send paperwork, etc. to me and she uses priority mail. However, the packages take at least a week to get to me, sometimes longer. We thought it was my post office in NYC that was the delay, but I found that it is the practices at Katy that's causing the problem. When my friend gets to the teller and hands the package to them, they tell her that my zip code is incorrect and they change it. My ZIP code is 11215, they insist that their computer says it is 11218. They scratch off the zip code that my friend wrote in based on my address that I have given her 100 times and put in 11218. THIS IS INCORRECT. YOUR COMPUTER IS WRONG. I have lived in my neighborhood for 20 years, I know my zip code. Last Wednesday, my friend sent a package from this post office via priority mail. Tracking showed it reached my neighborhood two days later as it should have, but for 4 days it bounced back-and-forth between the two post offices in the two ZIP Codes and was not delivered to my house. Finally, I had to go out of my way to find the post office in the 11218 ZIP Code and explain my story and show them the tracking information based on the tracking number for the package. They had the package in a bin ready to go back to my post office in 11215. If I had not gone to this post office I would still be waiting for my package. Thankfully, the young woman who helped me in 11218 went out of her way to find the package. If anyone who works at this post office is reading this, PLEASE CORRECT YOUR COMPUTER AND STOP SENDING MY MAIL TO THE WRONG POST OFFICE!!. I tried to call this post office several times, but no one answers. NIce to see that it's consistent with post offices in NYC. read more
