Horrible, unprofessional and lazy. I had a package that was not delivered because it was "heavy," excuse me? So I was already annoyed because of that, I schedule a redelivery for the next day and never received it. We are on day 5 now and there is no information on the tracking number since the 1st attempt. Gilma who served us is amazing (this is my second time at this post office served by her). I had 5 parcels going to different locations around the world at different tracking speeds and she just very patiently with a smile, tell me how much each cost under each option. I ran into some indecisions but she was informative and made sure I got to the right shipping option. I appreciate Gilma so much for her positive energy at a stressful time. The guy at the self checkout was awesome too. He gave me all the right custom forms for my parcel which I filled out while waiting in line. I wished I got his name too. Update: I revisited the post office yesterday afternoon to look for my package. I spoke to the branch manager about the clerk in reference. He took down some information to look for my package. He went back to look through the outgoing packages and came out 15 mins later. He found my parcel!!!!! He took me to a new clerk to print out a tracking number for the pre-paid postage envelope. I'm so glad my missing parcel was recovered! The post office manager made it better! I'm going to update my review to 3 stars because of him! ----- I had been in this location a few times to the self serve machines but I now realize why they have such a low rating. Today I had the worst experience I could ever have at the post office. I walked in with three parcels and was sent back to the island to address and tape a box. I did this but I noticed that the postal clerk was disgruntled and rude. I tried to overlook it and went back up to the counter to finish my purchase. When he finished my two parcels that needed postage I asked him about the third parcel that had a postage on it. He said he didn't see it. I asked him "what did you mean you didn't see it?" If I could, I would give the Post Office at 8200 Vermont Ave a negative -10. They constantly show that my packages are delivered, but it's either delivered to the wrong address (at least 10+ times) or it's not delivered at all. No one ever answers the phone when you call. I've had packages just sitting there that I had to hunt down myself. I had a package sitting right next to the door in the P.O. and they claimed they couldn't read the name, but when I said I was there to pick it up, mysteriously and magically, the name was clear again. Learn my my mistake. This advice goes for all USPS locations but I had the bad experience here. I was shipping a few items for poshmark buyers. Pre-paid label, pre-packaged items ready to go. An employee told me I didn't need to wait in line-just use the drop bin, so I did. My highest priced item was NOT scanned in. Don't let this happen to you-wait in line and demand a scan AND a receipt. If they try refusing it's cause (1) lazy or (2) they they want an easy opportunity to steal your item. Just google USPS internal theft, and success rates on retrieving lost items. It's sad because they do have good employees who are seeing hours and jobs cut. They lost yet another customer. read more

Like most people I am not a fan of going to the post office. The lines, the bad customer service, the unstocked shelves. HOWEVER, this particular office I don't mind going to. In fact, I drive out of my way to go here instead of the two offices within a few blocks of my home. Don't worry, even if the line is long the wait won't be. The employees work lighting speed. Many of them are personable and fun to be around. Not all obviously, but most. The employees at this post office are actually quite helpful and for the most part nice in person, but this branch is extremely unorganized (though perhaps that's all post offices for you). I put in a hold mail request a week ago and somehow, a package was delivered on a HOLIDAY. That's a massive error on top of an error going on here and the only way to get a hold of someone to try remedy the situation is via email (which they usually respond to in 2-5 days). The phone number listed rings endlessly with no voicemail set up. Overall, post offices like this are probably why people want the post office to be privatized and defunded. Walked in thinking I'd have to wait for at least 30 minutes due to the length of the line but they had a staff member walking up and down the line helping people with simple transactions like buying stamps or shipping packages. There is some serious mail theft going on in that office. I've had multiple packages that were marked as delivered by the post office that I did not receive on the day there were "delivered." I had to file complaints with them and was told to contact the vendor for a replacement because the postal carrier thinks he delivered it but can't remember any details. read more

Let me preface by saying I don't use the counter services. I use the machines in the lobby to send packages in the off hours of the morning. Its quiet as well as clean and easy to use. If you want to just drop off prepaid mail its also convenient. If they had postage machines for stamps the holidays might be that much easier to mail Christmas cards. read more

Weird to review a post office, but whatever. I have dealt with post offices pretty nonstop since age 17. I've used ones weekly in NJ, Brooklyn, Manhattan, San Diego, Carlsbad, etc. I have to say that this is one of the most decent post offices I have ever used. Yes, the parking sucks sometimes (not always!) but you should be thankful it even exists! I've been to tons of post offices that have NO parking. I walk there so it's never a problem for me anyway. Self serve machine is wonderful- not all post offices have these and some even ask for them to be removed (ie. Del Mar, CA haha). Also, the hours are AWESOME. Open until 7!? Unheard of at any other post office I've used in the past. People who work here are friendly and they aren't behind huge plates of glass like in NYC. How nice is that? You can actually talk face to face with someone. They always retrieve my packages fast and are super nice to me. I can see how they could get grumpy though- they are all definitely overworked. I got my passport done here and although I had to wait awhile it was definitely worth it. Now when mailing a package the regular line can be long but if you go in the middle of the week you're going to be fine. If you can use the self serve machine even better; use it to buy stamps, mail stuff, etc. I'm not sure why people hate this place so much. I've dealt with nasty post office workers, lost mail, and some really crazy bullshit at other places. None of that seems to happen here so I dunno.. Honestly, this is one of the better post offices in the area. Despite not being the closest one to me, I will drive a little further to go to this one for a few reasons - A) Large parking lot. Half the post offices in LA don't even have a lot. B) Multiple self-service machines. At least one of them is always broken, but you'll usually have a working one so you don't have to stand in line for domestic shipping. C) The times I do have to stand in line, it moves more quickly than it looks. A line of 10 people can take an hour at another branch, but I'm often out of this place in 15 minutes. They do seem to purposely understaff themselves - despite a good 8 booths, there are never more than two clerks even during the holidays - but trust me, there are so many worse post offices out there. read more

Let me just begin by saying that I am the son of a hardworking U.S. Postal Clerk. Many times the U.S.P.S. gets a lot of gripe for their long lines, poor customer service, lost mail, etc. I completely understand both sides of the argument. But after today's horrible experience, I just had to critique & voice my grievances about this particular "place of business". I've been a loyal customer here since moving to Silverlake back in Jan '09 and I make supplemental income as an avid eBay seller so shipping is a huge part of my business. In the past. I had to put up with a lot of B.S. when it comes to mailing in general (UPS broke my computer monitor, USPS lost my $1,000.00+ laptop). First: the parking: There is only a limited handful of spots (I'd say around 20) so good luck if you try to go during prime lunch hours or the days before or after a nat'l holiday. Many times over, I had to play the "parking game" where you either wait for a car to back out (that's if the pile of cars in line don't honk the hell out of you - I've actually seen a woman walk out of her car and confront a "waiting vehicle & yell at him) or park 4-5 blocks down Franklin at a residential spot - I prefered the latter. Once you're lucky enough to bypass the parking situation, you'll almost certainly be "greeted" by the doorman - I'm not one to judge (especially in this economy) but let's just say that he's not their "official" doorman, and he's got a cup waiting to be filled w/ your generous donations - I just can't bear the guilt of passing by him each time I enter & exit, it makes me cry...enough said. Second, once you're in = the LINE. I've suffered many a long line @ many post offices, but this is RIDICULOUS. At least 20 customers on average. I am convinced that the workers here work by the hour because they love to take their sweet time. Even the "express kiosk" has its fair share of "long line syndrome, WTF"?! I always buy a "Deliver Confirmation" slip w/ every parcel that I mail but they always run out & I have to ask for one at the counter - as if people behind me aren't anxious enough for me to finish my transaction. Third, - one of the biggest annoyances is that the "helpful manager - a Spanish guy who has the privilege of wearing his own eclectic Polo Shirt as opposed to the Standard Issue" will go down the line "addressing your concerns" yet, even in the longest of wait lines - he does NOT have the common sense to open up another cash register to relieve the patrons of their stress. Really?! As for the workers - almost all of them are very nice, helpful & friendly. I know their job is difficult & often thankless, but then again, what many jobs aren't? I love the elderly man w/ glasses - he's my favorite. He knows that I am a consistent patron & we often have nice chats. The Korean lady is very polite & professional w/ a sense of humor - I asked her how her "holiday break" was one day, & in an acrimonious tone she replied, "Not long enough". Made me laugh. The black lady is the nicest. She is very polite & I always hope that I get her or the elderly man w/ glasses. Fourth, and arguably the reason I am writing this critique (not review) the Filipino lady at the end. I know she is filipino because I am full Filipino. I almost always get her, and she never once bothers to acknowledge that I am a consistent patron. It is as if each time, I see her, it's the first time for her. I'll often give her pleasantries but she always shuts me down. I've observed many times where non-knowing first-timers often come up to her w/ innocent questions & she completely ignores them, instructing them to "Get into the line". (even it's just a quick question?) When I bring my well-packaged large parcels, 9 times out of 10, she will instruct me that I can NOT send it until more tape is covering the entire 2.5' box. I've been doing this for 7 years. No other worker tells me that I have to this, ONLY her. Funny thing is, her manager/boss had no problem w/ it as he kindly asked me what services I would like for said size boxes while waiting in line. She treats me as if I'm her ungrateful son who never bothered to return her calls. I'm so fed up now, that I will not only not pay the $1.00 fee for extra tape, I will go out of my way to go to ANOTHER post office...and I'll gladly take my business with me. Do yourself a HUGE favor and save yourself the time, money, and overall sanity. Go to another Post Office - I recommend Alvarado, Hill, or Vignes. Go to a Fed-Ex. Box Bros. or dare I say it, UPS. but stay away from the Los Feliz Post Office. BTW, if you need to create a passport, it's by appointment only. No walk-ins at all or they'll tell you to schedule one. read more

I do not recommend. They are extremely rude and that's mainly everyone except for a few. They don't care about customer service. Even a simple "hello how may I help you today" and "thank you". It saddens me how so many people are out of jobs and you have people working here that don't even give a shit about the customer. I had to go to this local post office because I had an issue with my package. The person that helped me was named Loy. All I can say is that this man has a lot of patience! There were a couple people ahead of me and they were sooo rude to him and he did everything he could to help assist them. No one ever likes going to the post office, but if and when you have to do so, this one is pretty good. Helpful staff for the most part, and I've never had a problem here. I dropped one star because it can get crowded, especially in the microscopic parking lot: leave yourself plenty of time if you're not just using the kiosk or dropping off something in the chute. This is our local post office, as regulars the only issue here is the parking. To be exact the single lane driveway. Let's face it a lot of people around the area are either from another country or drive a Prius, sorry but most don't know how to drive. So what ends up happening is there's always some driver who decides they will stop at the end of the driveway and wait for parking to open up or just to look around. Meanwhile they have 8 other cars stuck behind them. Pull in move out of the way and wait on the side to let people through who just want to drive in and drop off at the mailbox, common sense people!. I went here yesterday as it is the closest one near my house that is open on a Monday. We were there as early as 10:20 AM as we had our baby with us. However, we noticed that it's taking TOO LONG for them to call in the next person. I stood up and watched what they're doing to see why it's taking forever. Apparently, the woman in-charge was chit-chatting with the applicant, taking their passport photo, etc. WORST part is I asked if possible to accommodate those people who arrived there with complete required documents with passport photos especially for those who came with their babies. UNFORTUNATELY, they were very INCONSIDERATE and UNACCOMMODATING. In fact, the woman told us that if we can't wait any longer then we might as well come back some other day and she said it RUDELY!!!
