I have to say, several pieces of valuable mail sent to me have gone missing from this post office since January 2012. They're all marked delivered, at least the ones with tracking numbers were; my b'day card from my mom didn't have one, obviously, though it did have cash. I have been delivered mail from here since 1968, and now all of a sudden, in the space of four months, four expensive things "somehow" get lost?? I wonder. WORST service ever!!! Wish I could give negative stars. I paid $25 to overnight a contract I needed returned to me with a wet ink signature. The online tracking said they attempted delivery at 3pm, but I was at my apartment at 3pm! They never rang the doorbell or knocked, or left a notice slip. I went down to this post office which is where they always bring my packages if I'm not home and it wasn't there. The first lady I dealt with didn't want to look for it, she said it wasn't her job and she had to go. I waited 5 minutes for the next guy on shift to come. He said he would look for the letter but then he helped the 4 other people in line behind me before he went to go check for mine which he still didn't find. Then said they were about to close and I would have to come back in the morning. I paid $25 to get that letter today! read more

Post Offices are crowded nasty places and walking in just stresses me out. However, I had a wonderful experience today. I went around lunchtime and there were about five different windows open to serve the rush. I waited about ten minutes and was helped by a very kind woman who even joked with me during our exchange and finished by saying "Have a great day, love." Proved me wrong! Glad to know there's a good spot near my office. read more

Horrible, absolutely horrible. The most ignorant, unhelpful and vile people I ever encountered. Had to stand in line or half an hour to mail package to Europe. When my turn finally came the woman in the window told me that I needed to fill in some extra forms. There were no forms at the desk, I asked if she had them and in the most unpleasant manner was told that she didn't that I should go and look again and get back in line, I asked if the manager could help, the manager was too busy to be bothered. I asked for her name, she refused to give it. Thanks good for FedEx. They saved my day. read more

Recently, the service at this post office has seriously deteriorated. There are not enough USPS forms at the counters, which are strewn with trash. Lines are long because there aren't enough postal workers to wait on customers, which is outrageous. read more

Decent corner USPS location where things are surprisingly efficient.

As a decades long patron of Cooper Station Post Office (built by the WPA: James Farley was Postmaster back then), I think, even with a sprinkling of nice clerks this joint still shoots off its own foot more often than not. The manager currently at the helm seems more concerned with 'the letter of the rule" and not its heart. Two days ago in the bitter cold I came in to mail a small package to my niece. I noticed a woman taping up a box at one of the lobby kiosks. Her dog, grey-muzzled, unsteady on his feet, stood quietly next to her. Any compassionate pet owner would realize straightaway - this was not weather to tether poochie outside (18 degrees). The manager strode up to the woman and said, "You need to get that dog outa here.." or some such comment. Bravo for her, she ignored him. I leaned over and said, "Sir, it's absolutely freezing out. Can you work with us, and just..let the dog be?" He shot back, "Dogs ain't supposed to be in here. Freezin' ain't got nothin to do with it.." I'll admit I have had a fervent dislike for this surly little despot, ever since I overheard him brag to a co-worker, "I couldn't care less." Hiring employees who couldn't care less? Smart move, USPS! And, while we're about it, I'll wager he also couldn't care less - about the lack of wheelchair access to this Post Office. Let's see now, if I remember my history, Cooper Post Office was built during the Administration of a President who was himself, in a wheelchair. BTW he also had a dog. Named Fala. read more

Absolutely worst customer service I have ever encountered! I tried to submit a change of address online and it said the billing address wasn't correct...even though it was. So I went to the post office in person and dropped off my change of address form and they told me they'd process it. It has been a month now and I haven't received any mail at my new address. I have tried calling at least 10 times yesterday and today; the people who answer are extremely rude and just transfer me, only to put me on hold and then hang up. After reading of the reviews, I was expecting long lines and poor customer service, but I was very surprised. I came here at around 4:30PM on Thursday, and the line was only 3-4 people and moved quick. The person helping me was Latisha, who really made me laugh and was so sweet, helpful and had such a good attitude and service for the USPS customers, I was blown away! This visit definitely was one of the best USPS location. Latisha didn't even ask me to go buy my envelope, and go back in line. She actually let me pack my package and write the addresses on it in front of her and then she scanned, labeled and shipped it all within 5 minutes. Quick, good service, and organized. I'll definitely be coming here now for all my shippings. read more

Other than the workers there who care, and do their jobs, not because union will protect them, but because they like working with fellow humans, US Postal Service is a classic example of a good thing gone wrong. Slow, rude, arrogant, need I say more. As I've indicated in other reviews, it's a top down system and when the top is negative it spreads like a disease everywhere else. Re income they always claim that postal service is hurting, but the primary move they take is selling assets, etc, in other words putting our once public assets into private hands (who controls the bidding)? Intellect is dead in many circles as the department heads claim their only solution is to sell everything, and the public has its' head in the sand busy watching reality TV and sipping tea with the good Germans. read more

Worst place ever. Constantly loses packages

I've never had a more awful experience at a post office! All I wanted to do was mail some gifts back to my family in the UK, and the whole thing took an hour and a half, not to mention costing $130 - three times the price of the all three gifts combined! There is no clear signposting to help differentiate between "priority" mail and "regular" mail, and no indication of which forms need to be filled in ahead of joining the line for service. When I say service, I use that term loosely. There were three staff available for a line of maybe 30 people, all of whom were incredibly slow at getting to the next customer, and offered little to no assistance. The woman who eventually served me brusquely informed me I needed to fill out customs forms and proceeded to complain about how long it would take her to type them up. I think she must have mentioned she was supposed to be on her lunch break a dozen times during the whole transaction. Once I'd done that, I was informed I needed to tape up my packages using this godawful blue tape, and that no, I could not have either a tape dispenser or a pair of scissors - I had to wrench each piece of tape off using the end of a pen. Because the tape was opaque, I then had to relabel each package. Then began the insanely long process of typing up the customs forms, plus a needlessly complicated discussion about which package was going where (yes, they are both going to the UK. No, they are not going to the same address). Then came the bill. It's a flat $66.25 rate, despite the fact I was only sending a few trinkets that weighed maybe half a kilo in total, as I had unwittingly picked up a priority mail box - $132.50 for two measly parcels. read more

I want to start off by saying I don't normally write reviews but the horrible experience I had at this location is a must. I've worked in customer service for around 8 years and never have I disrespected a customer. I needed help mailing a letter but was nervous since it was my first time sending a Bankers check. I waited 10 mins in line which the wait time isn't bad. I asked Steve Broski I just want to make sure everything is fine and what else should I do. He sarcastically told me "well first you need to put the check inside the envelope" which was very uncalled for since I wasn't rude to him just needed help. So I said "oh thank you so much you are very smart" I tried to let it go but the tone in his voice was very aggressive and sarcastic so I asked "why are you being so rude to me?" He said "I'm not being rude but you can leave If you feel that way" I was at a lost of words. He looks very miserable and shouldn't be working in customer service. I will continue to escalate this issue to every member of management at that location. If you don't like your job maybe it's time to retire old man . read more

Scheduled a 11:30am pick up "On Demand." The fine print noted a 2 hour window...it never came. No luck with customer service line, no way to get support. Went in to drop off the 60lbs of packages and ask for a refund. They wouldn't provide assurance that I'd get one unless I brought in a printed receipt, locking in another trip to the post office.... read more

Having been a victim of the PO at Cadman Plaza and the truly hideous Times Plaza Station in downtown Brooklyn, I now go, from Fort Greene, to Cooper Station when I have to mail packages. Unbelievable for the PO, the staff is 1. there!!! not on break as in the aforementioned locations; 2. are polite and helpful; and 3. there are multiple stations open. Plus a smart staff member moving along the line to answer questions, direct people to proper locations, etc. So I'm there 15 to 20 minutes, at least I don't feel I was abused and my package was mailed. read more

DO NOT SHIP WITH THEM unless you want your package to be lost. They conveniently have a big blue box laying in front of the customer service windows. Every employee there will suggest you to drop your package off in that box (If it already has a shipping label). I am an active Poshmark seller, meaning I get prepaid shipping labels and dropping the package in the blue bin instead of waiting in line for someone to scan it seem to be the easiest way, so I did. DON'T DO THAT EVER! Twice in one month, my package never got scanned. Funny thing is the other packages I brought along on the same day were scanned, tracked and delivered. Now how the hell did one package make it, and the other package laying right next to it never got scanned, got lost and may I say got stolen? Because I'm pretty sure that was what happened. If everyone was scanning every single package, this would never happen. I don't wanna mention the value of my stuff but let's say they were both not cheap. I confronted two of the workers today and their answers were all very blurry "I have no idea". To avoid this, I stayed in line and watched an employee scanned all of my items in front of me, which he seemed impatient when I requested that. We all know the postal office is BAD! here in NYC. But this postal office just passed the limits. I went to send just one package ready to be mailed. Should have taken me only 5 min max. but it took one hour! yes! one hour! Loooooooooong story short: The women at the register first had to check her fake nails before starting to help me ...then she told me my package was not properly closed and instructed me to go buy tape but then I realized they sell tape there but she wouldn't tell me ...she finally sold me the $5 tape. Why couldn't she just put a small piece of tape on the package ...I don't know. Then she started organizing items in her desk and made as if I was not there. I bit my tongue all these time and didn't say anything in case it would make it worse. She then told me she needed to poop so she left ... then she never came back ...the other women on the side took me and had to ring all the items again since they were not in her computer. Then she told me that the other women had wrinkled the documents I filled in so the machine wouldn't take them so I had to fill them in again. Then she said she wanted to put the tape on instead of me and patronized me even though I bought the tape and paid for it! I let her ... Then she took a break and then proceeded to type in the addresses in the computer. Then she said she was having trouble with her site and needed time to type in items on the PC ... anyway, this place was unbelievable. No wonder why post offices are closing. How embarrassing for the United States to be running offices like this. Who hires these people???!!!! I didn't say anything there since was afraid they wouldn't send my package or "accidentally loose it" Plus the manager is probably the same ....do not go here! read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE I can't begin to describe my most frustrating experience with this facility. Every employee at this place could CARE LESS about you and your personal mail. I've never dealt with such terrible service in my life, and I used to live near the East Broadway post office location (which is another world of it's own). Having held my mail for a month, I decided to check mid way to ensure it was actually being held, as the post office is the post office, and anticipated to collect the current bundle. Assuming I would have a huge stack, the woman (who refused to give name) came back with nothing in her hands. After insisting she check again and having to get more serious with her she finally dug a bit deeper.. She came back with 2 magazines only. After 13 days of held mail, and a 2 person household, who regularly received mail on daily basis, this did not seem accurate. When she offered no other feedback and started taking other customers I stood by patiently. I then insisted to speak with someone further. A colleague overheard me who took my info - and never came back ! Meanwhile I'm still waiting and everyone at the window disappears for a good 10 minutes. The line starts piling up. I started to insist on seeing a manager. After another wait I received the most incredulous SUPERVISOR. (who also REFUSED to give me his name) He completely shut my needs down and offered no help or advice on WHERE MY MAIL WAS/IS. During mid conversation he walked away saying he would no longer speak with me. INFURIATING! I stuck it out though. Once the first woman came back I took a more agitated tone, asking for the STATION MANAGER. I had to repeatedly ask, when a customer told me I could find the managers at the other side of the service windows. I strolled over and said Supervisor looked at me after the woman who was helping went to fetch him, and disappeared. No one else could help, so I went back to the original mail pick up window. He decided to finally show face again, by now I was 45 minutes in. At this point all I asked was for again the STATION MANAGER - simply their NAME and he would not reveal. This mysterious station manager was apparently busy and I should come back in an hour. Right, like that would work. Again, asking for the Name of this Manager for when I would "return" he ended our conversation and threatened me if I didn't leave. I said I would not leave until I received the information I need in regards to his name, the manager, and my mail. This place is a disgrace. I stayed at the window though, and when I saw a new person - J. FAN her tag said - she was the only employee wearing identification - she helped me finally understand where my mail was, who my carrier is, how I can get a hold of him, etc etc. Apparently he had been on "vacation" and the guy who was filling in was most likely delivering my mail. Clearly there is no supervision or communication when you submit a mail hold - which I did weeks prior to leaving. I am still with out my mail, but will follow up no thanks to anyone by J. Negative stars would be more accurate considering the time and money I have lost to the abominable customer service here. Walking into this building is committing yourself to purgatory. Today is only the latest lost package incident I have gone through with this branch. There was only one person on line in front of me yesterday - I was literally second in the line - and I waited for OVER HALF AN HOUR before anyone even spoke to me. They gave me incorrect information (I came to pick up a package and they said it had been delivered to my home address) and when I called today to just find out where the package was they put me on hold for TWENTY MINUTES. No one even attempted to pick up the call. A horribly rude woman just put me on hold and after twenty minutes of listening to the stupid music I hung up and wrote this review. The only advice I can give is don't ever have anything delivered to you if this is your post office and if you made that mistake, don't ever expect to get the package. I have been refunded on Amazon twice for packages this post office claimed it "delivered." A present my father sent me last winter was never even found. They are the absolute worst and don't care at all about doing their job. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting their kicks intentionally driving every customer in there insane. They are SO rude and SO incompetent it's actually unbelievable. read more

The post office guy with a long and hair pony tail is so knowledgeable, kind and polite to me all the time. I learned a lot from these people about shipping for domestic and abroad. There was this other lady who allowed me to use their bathroom for my emergency situation. It is always pleasant to deal with them. I hope our City government will not close this location. This is the worst damn post office ever they never do anything on time...if i could give them no stars i would. I had package delivered by express mail and to have it signed and they never even made an attempt to deliver it they just left a damn notice in my mailbox and told me to pick it up at the post office. I ordered a custom made dress for my daughters first birthday and now she doesnt have it because this p[ost office is so damn lazy. I visit this USPS office from time to time, living only a few minutes away and having some gifts, etc., to mail to my family in Japan throughout the year. I find this USPS location to be generally well functioning and without major flaws, although the line at times can of course be quite long. Even then, it moves rather fast, and the window clerks are usually very helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. I particularly like the fact that they sometimes place one clerk on the floor, available to answer customers' questions and directing them, if necessary, to more appropriate windows/kiosks. For the record, in all those almost 30 years of using the USPS service, I have not suffered any missing articles. What I have mailed from here to Japan and what my family in Japan has mailed to me has always been delivered, and in a timely manner the majority of the time. The telephone line is the worst service I have ever experienced. I have to call up every two weeks to get my mail forwarded after filling out 3 mail forwarding forms. Sometimes I call and speak to three or four people and they never forward it after calling 3-4 times a shot. Worst Post Office on the planet. Advise to go somewhere else. read more

Wish I could give this NO stars! Worst customer service ever! Called 8 times 5/4/16 as soon as they pick up I say "hi I'm trying to track a package that was marked out for delivery 2 days ago" I can't even get the last word out before they say hold on and transfer me. The first time the line just rang and rang for 5 mins then disconnected me. I called back, same thing, abrupt hang on, then transfer then a hang up. This charade continues for several more attempts. Finally a second person answers the transferred call in shoved someone else is actually there answering these phone calls, only to tell me to hang on, then a hang up again follows. After three more attempts I finally talk to some young guy that sounds like it's his first day. He says um IDk talk to my supervisor I'm about to take lunch! He sets the phone down and I can literally hear them all in a screaming match fight about a pile of mail that should have been out 2 days ago and "oh I know he ain't talking to me that way" finally she picks up the laid down phone, I give her the tracking # (she's still yelling in the background to a bunch of people) as I hear her tracking the package. Then she says oh your package didn't come to us (they are my usual mail carrier) it went to Wall Street call this # then hangs up on me. I haven't dealt with such an unprofessional station. One word comes to mind ghetto. read more
