I got a notification 6/9/26 that I received mail and it never made it to my P.O. Box. My provider had to issue another card. I got another notification yesterday and came back yesterday and today. Not in my box. I get the card sent out from weeks ago which has now been voided (only after going to the window and insisting that I received a notification that I got mail). So maybe I'll receive the card (which I sent away for in December and this is the 5th time they sent it out) or maybe never. At least one of the times the card was intercepted (by postal workers?) and charges were run up. So maybe I'll get the card or maybe my time will continue to be wasted. I wanted to mail my package out and thought since this location open up early at 9, I drop by at 9:20 on a Wednesday morning and It was empty in the morning no one waited in line to mail out their item so I thought great no line. I headed to the clerk. Lady behind the counter closed her window and acted like there is no customers waiting for services. Took no initiative to service either. Upon giving her the package I couldn't even see her face as the window was so closed up. This is not covid period anymore and I don't see her wearing a mask either, please give some customer service. Canal Street Post Office is a gem, it's the embodiment of change in the neighborhood and the world at large. Most noticeably the racial mix of the personel from white and black to black and Asian, sometimes the transition appeared to be bumpy. one thing remains consistent, it's always a surprise not to get yelled at. Recently I went to pick up the mail and watched this young blackman, a custodian and clearly resentful at the job, acting extremely aggressively bordering violent towards one of his Chinese colleagues behind the window, in front of the customers. It was quite alarming. Having read about the uncertain fate of this post office, this adds more feeling of doom and chaos to the possible end of an era. read more

Came in here tonight to purchase 20 POST CARD STAMPS and 10 REGULAR stamps. The gentleman behind the counter repeatedly acted like he had no clue what I was asking for so he got his supervisor/manger, said person came over and said "look were out of post card stamps ok" in a VERY LOUD AUTHORITIVE yet CONDECENDING manner, I replied "how can the post office be out of stamp, he replied "look are you stupid I just told you were out". Five windows and there are only two postal workers holding the fort while the line is grid lock for an average half-hour wait. After being idle for nearly half-hour this post office station do not have what I specifically seek- Lunar New Year 2016 postal stamps. I've had my PO Box here for many years (since the Prince Street Station closed). Postal workers have been friendly although there is some line-waiting. But, it's worth noting the heroic kindness I saw by one postal clerk working the window in the PO Box room. He suddenly held up a "wait a minute" finger, ran out of his little supply room, up to the front door, helped a woman lower a baby carriage down a few steps to street level, then ran back to continue working. It only took a couple minutes, but it was a wonderfully human/humane gesture. read more

This is my favorite post office! For the most part the experience of going to the post office is an unpleasant errand that no one wants to deal with, yes there will be a line, yes it will probably be confusing, BUT the people who work at this post office are wonderful and I come here to see them because it makes the whole experience of doing a chore less of a chore! I run a small business and I am in the post office at least once a week to mail out my orders and they always are happy to see me, no matter how many mistakes on forms I make, or how many packages I have to mail out. I enjoy the community feeling of seeing the same friendly faces, which in a big city doesn't happen often. on a side note, I'm shocked at the bad reviews, I've never had an issue here. I'm really grateful that we have the postal service at all, I wish the employees received better treatment, we are all doing are best, it's the most affordable way to send mail, can we have a little more compassion and gratitude? read more

I supposed that I shouldn't FULLY blame the post office for my wretched mail situation but they sure haven't made it any easier. I returned home after a weekend away for the fourth of July to graffiti all over the mail area from an angry tenant telling me not to pay my rent as our building management has neglected notices from the Postal Service to install larger mailboxes. Long (boring) story short I haven't had my mail delivered for the past 3 weeks. For some reason (I think it must be just to dick with people) you can only pick up mail if you have a "broken mail box" between 11am-1pm Monday to Saturday. Now...this seems odd. You can mail a letter, pick up a package and wait in line for hours because they don't feel like walking a bit faster but it's IMPOSSIBLE to pick up a pile of mail outside of this 2 hour range in the middle of the work day? Either way each Friday I've obeyed the rules and gone there. Waited in line, argued that yes my mail is there, argued that yes I live in my apt even if I have a California drivers license, waited more, written down my address for them multiple times and all just to get my stupid bills, junk mail, alumni news, metro card, and Entourage Season 4 on Netflix. Now my mailboxes have been fixed for a week and we're still waiting for the "Postal Inspector" to come and approve them and give us @$#%$ keys. fml. read more

I am giving one star because you are not allowed to give zero stars. This is literally the gateway to hell!!!! Our office is located by it so we are forced to use it for business but I have never encountered such ineffectual, unfriendly, unintelligent people in my life!!! Every single person in the 45 minute line in front of me today walked away from the customer service window enraged or upset. Today was last straw: After 2 months of trying to get a refund for a piece of mail that we mailed to Sweden that never got there, after being on at least 3 hours of phone calls, after waiting so long to get these 2 forms I needed to get my refund the PEON behind the window had the nerve to say that they couldn't give me my refund because the mail was lost in Sweden and not in the states. I would love to know what the point is of paying for a guarantee of delivery. Or why keep me on the phone for 3 hours only to say in person that they only guarantee getting the mail to the country you selected. This is $61 and 3 hours of my life down the drain because of this hell hole. My only happiness is knowing that these people have to work there. I pray for the day USPS is obsolete or that this place is shut down. I implore you all to not go there! Their wi-fi is "always down" forcing you to pay in cash. They lost my mother's day card somehow. Lost it so badly that it never even came back to me the way most undelivered mail is supposed to. This is the worst post office I've ever been to ( and i can't stand going to the post office) there is always and issue and it's never their fault. Today my postage didn't print, i could see it was jammed, so i waited in line to tell the counter and the woman told me it was there i just needed to feel around for it. I told her i understood how the machine worked and had tried and it was jammed. She told me it wasn't jammed and refused to look at it. Now I'm in line for another "information window" and i hear them arguing in front of me. I hate it here. Always something... Update: after standing in line twice wasting an hour here and being rudely told by two people that i was wrong and the machine couldn't be jammed (without even looking at it) i go back to see the machine had been opened up and someone is working on it and he finally helped me get my postage. I was quite negative about the USPS location at 350 Canal St., NY NY 10013 for many years because the employees there were very rude too often, couple of times my packages were missing with no trace. Almost always I had to chase my packages for days before getting them. The employees were neglecting me when I showed them tracking information saying that packages were already in the post office and available for pickup in my PO Box but there were no nackages for me available. They told me to write the missing package Complaint or come back again and again. It was the complete mess and they already looked at me like I was their enemy... . But the last time some new employee, whose name was SAM (Chinese-American middle age man) did not send me home when it appeared that my package was missing again, when tracking said it was available for pickup. He kindly went extra-mile, and in about 15-20 minutes my package was found!!! It was fabulous, I could not believe it, it was like a miracle. My package was in a self pickup box but there was no notification in my PO Box that my package was avaible from there. Any way, Sam is a brilliant worker. Repeatedly the bane of my existence. This lovely art deco building has oh-so-much potential and it is ever-so-close to my office and yet... When you enter a chill enters your bones, florescents flicker forebodingly overhead, strange sculptures creak on the walls, seemingly haunted by the ghosts of postal patrons past who have withered away while waiting in line. Good god, that line. Inevitably hugely long and slow moving, get to the front and they tell you you have the wrong form, then off to the back again you go for another half-hour wait. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The staff at the Canal Street location are incredibly rude, condescending, and unhelpful. The carrier delivered my package to someone who was not me and when I called to try to get more information they refused and did not accept any responsibility. Reginald and Mr. Zillon (Carrier Manager) or so they called themselves were beyond rude and resorted to talking over me, name-calling, hanging up on me, and ultimately not helping me find out where the package was. I unfortunately have to go to this hellhole several times a week for work, and it is an absolute nightmare every time. This is the worst place on Earth. I seriously cannot think of a single place I've ever been with worse customer service. The tellers are extremely rude; thankfully I haven't seen her in a while, but there used to be a woman there who was seemingly employed for the sole purpose of stalking up and down the line yelling at people and being unable to answer even the simplest question (I once asked her for a pen because there were zero pens in the entire place, and she gestured toward an empty cup and told me to "use those pens."). The machines are always broken and 90 per cent of the time don't have Out of Order signs on them so if you don't know any better, you stand there fussing with a broken machine for several minutes. Congratulations, USPS you are my first 1 star review. My dad sent me a certified letter which arrived at my apartment. The problem was, I didn't answer the door, so I got a slip asking for me to stop by the office downtown or ask for re-delivery. And there started the saga... I originally asked for the package to be re-delivered to my address. After not hearing anything for a couple of days, I brought the slip down to the USPS on Canal Street. After waiting 10 minutes on line, the lady informed me the letter was nowhere to be found, but I could try calling my post man. She gave me a number and already pretty frustrated I wasted a 20 minute walk, I left. I called the post man the next day and he told me to leave the slip in the box and he would get me the letter the next day. Two days go by and still no letter, I decide to call the post office again. After a transfer, I spoke with a woman in customer service who told me the whole office was trying to find my letter (right..). She put me on hold for about 1 hour to look for it and never did come back to the phone. I called back a few hours later and a very terse and unhelpful woman told me if the lady didn't call me back then clearly she didn't have the letter. In her exact words, "If it's lost, it's lost."... I was about ready to give up, when by some miracle the letter was sitting in my mail box, 9 days after it originally was supposed to arrive. How did it get there? Elves, dwarves, or divine intervention? I don't care, but I will seriously think twice about using USPS for my letters or dealing with this particular post office again. Rant over. read more

Working at my company we ship products, almost everyday. Our regular mailman picks up the packages with no regards, no matter how much mail we have. When he goes on vacation, usually his replacements do the same thing. However, the one guy, VINCENT LOBOS, who is the strongest out of everyone who comes, tell us he cant fit anything else. Ummmm excuse me, it looks totally empty. He gives us this excuse every time, so our company decides to call the main office to get some understanding on the issue. Ms. Jones, comes on, sounding like she does this all day, dealing with unhappy clients. She didn't seemed concerned on our products not being shipped. She expressed that we could schedule the pick-up, however, the website states the CARRIER WHO BRINGS THE MAIL WILL DO THE PICKUP. SO why am I scheduling a PICKUP if he is still to pick it up. These people make no sense. You can tell they hate their job and seem miserable. They need to put this in perspective. USPS is a dying service and places like this makes people go out there to DHL, UPS, Fed Ex. They are thinking about placing a fed ex drop box on our block, so maybe we will stop any real business here anyway. read more

This is The Worst Worst Effin post office. Unfortunately, this is where I must pick up my packages when USPS says they were undeliverable - meaning I get a tracking email claiming they rang my doorbell but I wasn't home. I have not been home once in the dozen times I've received this noticed - they simply don't bother to attempt delivery and lie about it. Picking up a package is often a nightmare there; I was once the eighth person in line and had to wait 35 minutes. The employees here are rude, hostile, utterly indifferent when they are not contemptuous- they are horrible. The entire staff needs to be disbursed and entirely new staff and managers need to be moved in. The Doyers Street Post office, closer to me, is an entirely different experience. The men and women there are almost uniformly helpful and sometimes affable to the point of BFFs. Unfortunately, USPS does not allow my mail to be handled through the Doyers Street office. Zero stars if I can!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I called ups yesterday about 8 times asking where my package was. Each time I called the wait time was 40mins long! Each time the assistance person either said I can't find the location or its at canal. I called this location 4 times 1st time : a lady pick up(30min wait) I asked "is my package located at this location? "I explained to them that the delivery man said they left a notice but I never received one so I'm curious.She replied" let me check ."20 mins later said said no it's not here sorry bye. I called ups again a guy picked up and told me to call back canal at again 2nd time:they asked for checking # left me on hold for 50 mins then hung up. I called back the third time and this new lady said " the office is closed bye."(rudely) I called ups again and they filed an compliant at this location. I asked them to leave the package at the post office and I'll go pick it up the following day. Which they did. Before I went to pick up the package I called to double check a guy picked up. He sounded like he was in a hurry so he rushed the conversation. He didn't even let me ask a question,all he said was check online bye. I got fed up with the care over the phone so I walked over to the postal office. When I went up to the stand #20 the lady searched everywhere. She told me I can either stand and wait or she'll give me a call. I told her I'll stand and wait and can you please call your supervisor,I would like to talk to him/her. After 5 mins she started talking to her coworker about me. Since I spoke English to her I guess that she thought that I didn't know Chinese so she started talking about me . "This girl wouldn't leave .she want her thing but I can't find it.shes so annoying blahblahblah. Pardon my language, but this lady was so fucking rude to me at the window!! I was mailing 2 packages in flat rate boxes and she made me go through the line multiple times because one box was "overstuffed". The box was NOT overstuffed, it was heavy but not overstuffed. The second time I went through the line she said she can't ship with "all that tape on the end" aka ONE strip of mailing tape. WTF lady! Not to mention the whole time she was talking shit about me to her coworkers, as if I couldn't hear her. This is by far the worst post office I have been to in ten different states. Unfortunately this inept establishment has lost nearly every package that they failed to deliver in the first place. Perhaps they do not know all their letters or numbers and mail is just plain confusing for them. Having said that someone should either shut this place down or educated the prison work release employees on counting or the alphabet. Okay, so I'll admit that 5 stars for the USPS is excessively generous. But due to the hellishness of other branches, my standards have been severely lowered. Due to the severe incompetence of the Prince St. station (for a bad time, try to get "service" at that branch--see my review for details), I ended up hauling a bulky 10 lb box 10 minutes south to Canal St.. Along the way, I stopped a USPS worker to see if she could take my box from me, and she literally laughed in my face. Granted, it was a big box, but at least be polite about it? And it totally would have fit in her empty cart. But whatever. So by the time I saw the pink behemoth of this art modern buliding (it's seriously a weird pale peach color), I was elated to see that there were only two people in line (even though it was noon!), both of whom were helped within a record 3 minutes (there are usually at least 3 efficient workers staffing the windows here). Awesome. Tip: When you enter, there's the main service area to the immediate right, and the P.O. boxes are to the left. There's another service window toward that left side, and the person there is usually really good about helping you with small things and answering questions. read more

All the staffs in this post office are having super bad attitude toward their customer. I called to request redeliver my package due to wrong zip code, none of them are able to help me with the issue. The worse thing is they speak with bad attitude from the beginning toward to the end. I have to wait on a phone line for more than 1.5 hours just to get someone with bad attitude who are unable to solve a problem? My last call answered by a staff called Brabby who has the worst attitude and denied to provide help instead of saying they can't do anything. They just don't like the job then why staying there.
