The post office randomly delivered other people's mail to my PO Box.

The post office randomly delivered other people's mail to my PO Box. Neither of these pieces of mail were mine.

This Canal Street station post office sits in the periphery of Chinatown, Manhattan. Five windows and there are only two postal workers holding the fort while the line is grid lock for an average half-hour wait. There was only postal worker who was chit chatting non-work related standing at the passport window and ignoring the long haul line. After being idle for nearly half-hour this post office station do not have what I specifically seek- Lunar New Year 2016 postal stamps. At the entrance a relief art titled "Indian Bowman" by Wheeler Williams at this Canal Street station illumine the wall.

They told me I couldn't scan a label. Hate the post office. Not much more to say. Here's some pictures they told me I couldn't take. I need to remind myself people work here because they can't work elsewhere. So rude always.

ALL mail is held "safely" - a joke

Still worst place ever. Will they process a hold mail? Nope. Will they be responsible for the lost packages during hold mail, nope! There is no point to placing a hold mail with this place. Awful also management said that hold mail is for letters despite the USPS website stating otherwise

I supposed that I shouldn't FULLY blame the post office for my wretched mail situation but they sure haven't made it any easier. I returned home after a weekend away for the fourth of July to graffiti all over the mail area from an angry tenant telling me not to pay my rent as our building management has neglected notices from the Postal Service to install larger mailboxes. Long (boring) story short I haven't had my mail delivered for the past 3 weeks. For some reason (I think it must be just to dick with people) you can only pick up mail if you have a "broken mail box" between 11am-1pm Monday to Saturday. Now...this seems odd. You can mail a letter, pick up a package and wait in line for hours because they don't feel like walking a bit faster but it's IMPOSSIBLE to pick up a pile of mail outside of this 2 hour range in the middle of the work day? Either way each Friday I've obeyed the rules and gone there. Waited in line, argued that yes my mail is there, argued that yes I live in my apt even if I have a California drivers license, waited more, written down my address for them multiple times and all just to get my stupid bills, junk mail, alumni news, metro card, and Entourage Season 4 on Netflix. Now my mailboxes have been fixed for a week and we're still waiting for the "Postal Inspector" to come and approve them and give us @$#%$ keys. fml.

A line 20 people deep and 3 windows open = get ready to wait for an hour in line
    Nancy D.

No. No. NO. Please refer to the picture I submitted while you read this. I dread coming to this post office. It is a complete hell hole. It definitely made me late to work on Monday. Who only has one person working when there are 20 people in line? Hello! People have to go to work! What is the point of having 24 windows when only ONE is in use. This isn't even a one time thing. Literally everytime I'm here, I am standing in line for at least 30 minutes. I mean if only I had a lot of time to kill, I'd definitely know where to go.

Great location! The workers are super efficient and I don't deal with a line as long as I come before 6!

You have to enter an old beige stone building on the corner of Church Street and climb some steps to get to this post office. This post office smells very fresh and has a good quiet ambience all the time. The line is crazy long in this one because the tellers are really slow. It's just one line with most of the tellers closed. What is the point of having so many windows when around 50% of them are closed. I had to wait a long time the last time I came here and thankfully it was after work hours and not during my lunchtime. The good thing is the envelopes and boxes are by the entrance for you to grab on your own without asking assistance. The pens are somewhat working and chained to the tables. There are slips of paper you can use to write memo. Towards the entrance when you come in, you can drop sealed standard size letters inside a chute. But be careful because last time I dropped letters, the box inside the chute was full and some of the letters were scattered on the floor. So who knows if your letter is dropped on the floor. There are many tables for you to prepare your mail and lots of privacy in this location.

During my visit on a Saturday afternoon, my wait was 45 minutes. Which was fine, had plenty to occupy my time. Despite paying higher price's for shipping packages. My package which was going local to Queen's took over 2 weeks to arrive. If I am mailing off packages to the Southern part of the Country, it takes a week or so. The service left a lot to be desired, but that did not stop me from being thrilled to have my packages mailed out. The architecture of this majestic post office is on another level. The Corinthian colonnades, and the Imperial Coat of Arms of Prussia. This specific design is carved into a decorative, hexagonal ceiling panel, which is commonly found in historic government buildings, palaces, or university halls constructed during the Prussian era or German Empire.
