Rude, unhelpful, and slow staff. Avoid this USPS location if you can. Would give 0 stars if I could. I have been in multiple times where there's only 1 person serving a line of 10+ people. Went in today to ask for a change of address form. The guy yelled at me saying I need a envelope for the receipt in my hand and I clarified saying I'm looking for the CHANGE OF ADDRESS FORM. Fui como todo un ciudadano americano a ejercer mi derecho al voto y enviar mis papeletas; no obstante, lo que me encontré me dejó atónito. Cuando entré hice la fila con otros dos compañeros que se destinaban a hacer lo mismo. De repente, una de las damas atendiendo llama a aquellos que quieran enviar sus papeletas y lógicamente mis dos compañeros y yo pasamos hacia al frente. Resulta que cuando llegamos al frente la dama se había ido y la que se encontraba atendiendo la fila regular comenzó a gritarnos que qué queríamos. Le expresamos nuestro deseo de enviar las papeletas y esta nos gritó que simplemente las dejáramos allí. ¡¡Evidentemente no hicimos eso!! Nos queríamos asegurar de que nuestro voto se enviara. Total se van a robar las elecciones como quiera así que que mas da, pero eso no viene al caso. Procedemos a indicarle a la señora que íbamos a esperar por la otra dama o simplemente seguiríamos haciendo la fila, pero está nos grito e indico que la otra dama no vendría hasta dentro de 1 hora. This post office might be the worse one that I've been too. It's not a welcoming feeling. Everyone looks sad there. They're not that helpful. I went there a few times to mail something because it's across the from my job. They also move very slow for no reason. So please if you do go, because it's convenient, give yourself extra time. This one lady refused to ship my package out because she said it was too small to ship, when I've done it before. So I went to self service kiosk instead and the measurements were fine. And I knew it would be fine because my company uses the same size boxes to ship out the products. Make it make sense lady! The two employees feel their conversation is more important than a room full of customers. When it was finally my turn, I asked if my letter was over an ounce. She just stared at me. Then after I asked again she said "oh you need a stamp. I don't have any." She mosied over to the other lady's station and after quite a long time (still talking to that lady) came back with a stamp. ONE STAMP. So the next time somebody needed a stamp she'd have to repeat this process. A level of contempt for customers previously only achieved in 1970s Soviet Union. read more

Horrific customer service. Make sure you get the first name of your teller because you'll definitely want to call 1-800-410-7420 afterwards to complain about her. The women who work here truly seem to delight in making things difficult for you, upsetting you, and/or making you wait as long as possible. They make buying stamps a 15-minute ordeal and that is saying something. I honestly worried they were going to toss my package in the trash and cackle about it afterwards. I was a bit afraid to go to this USPS office after reading all the reviews but I was determined to smile and be friendly unless I had to turn on 'Hangry Alison'. No one wants to mess with Hangry Alison. I walked in and there was a manager greeting folks. That made me feel a bit better. The worker I met with at noon (noted her name as someone else recommended but no need to throw her under the bus today) was having a terrible day, I guess. Her colleague/supervisor came by to let her know that after serving the gentleman behind me she could go to lunch. No acknowledgement at all from the woman who was finishing up the labels for my package... Then the colleague said something like, "ok?" Which got her a mumbled "yeah"... Seemed to begrudgingly answer my question about priority mail. Asked me what must be a routine customer service about needing stamps, etc. and seemed annoyed when I asked for stamps. Nothing to get mad about but I can certainly see how people who ask for anything more would be put off or just get a 'tude back from her. This woman is unhappy with her work, her life, her day, her boss, her commute, who knows?? But good gravy, it is affecting her work. I wanted to ask if she was ok... I mean, that kind of bitterness has to come from some type of hardship, right? All in all, the lackluster attitude just gives civil servants a bad name. Came in the afternoon and there was no line. Reason for the low rating was the micro aggressions I kept receiving from the black staff member. She kept questioning my last name then saying "oh I've never seen one that sort" and kept telling me to confirm the delivery address even though I kept telling her it's my childhood home address and I don't need to reconfirm. I felt that she talked to me in a very condescending and demeaning way compared to the white person she helped before me. The way she talked to the white person vs me was very night and day. She also tossed my package over her shoulder without even looking like my package was trash. read more

One of the employees named Danny was incredibly rude and aggressive. He didn't say hello or greet me. Immediately he said my package was packed incorrectly. I apologized and asked for the package back so I could fix it. He wouldn't give it back. Said he needed to see how I was sending it before he could tell me if it was actually packed wrong. I asked several times for clarification but he wouldn't explain. Package was fine for shipping but this employee needs to find a new profession. Find another post office. RUN AWAY from this one, and if you get DANNY to help you, be prepared for aggressive behavior. read more

Update 7/25/2020: today, my partner told me he went to this USPS and he saw the staff ganging up and bullying another girl. Ironically, she was also a foreign student who didn't really know how USPS worked. This behavior is simply disgusting and I'm sad this is still happening. read more

hateful. rude. unhelpful, at best. these women straight up suck. i walk on eggshells here. i walked in and had a singular question for one of the staff who was standing by, off duty, on her phone. She ignored me when I said: excuse me :) I said excuse me again and she put her finger up and snapped hold on, I'm busy, to which I explained, I am happy to wait, but I don't know to do that if I'm ignored. I watched her wrap up her phone texting and then she half-helped me. Next, I'm told by another staff to put on a mask. Note: she is standing next to two other workers with no masks while she repeatedly tells me that they have no masks to offer me and if I don't leave, they will "unmail" my letter. I finally manage to mail my letter, and when she passes me later, she threatens me that she will remove my mail. What the f*ck is wrong with these women and why the hell do they even have a job? Get this place shut down, please, for the love of God and the upper west side. We deserve better. This is just disgusting behavior. read more

PO BOX SERVICE REVIEW Updating this review previous review. Moved (back) closer to this PO and transferred PO BOX service from a downtown PO. No issues this time around. Filled out forms online, brought 2 forms of ID (one just in case) and a copy of my lease. Got the keys within minutes. Despite being somewhat rude (to be expected and by now tolerated to a certain extent) , the attendant processed my paperwork for UPS/FedEx acceptance, also within minutes. There's basically 0 wait if you have a box and need to pick up packages, which is why I came back to this PO. Long waits after 11am if you're not retrieving a PO Box package. Lobby closes right at 5, so best to come before then. Great. read more

May 29th was the absolute last time I use this post office. I brought my package to the counter--to the person someone else labeled Bully 1 in one of the photos. She said, "You can't mail with that tape. You need to buy the clear tape." I used Gorilla Packaging Tape which is brown. I told Bully 1 I was going to UPS which I did. I mailed it without any trouble. The package was actually delivered to MA within 24 hours. I have been going to this post office for nearly a decade. I have seen the staff be incredibly rude to students--the majority of whom are foreign and need a little help from the staff. Earlier this year, another one of the women there told me that I couldn't mail a box with a return address in Brooklyn from that post office--she actually said I had to mail it from a Brooklyn one. I would give this place a zero star if possible. Like all the other reviews said, the staff are extremely rude. The black woman started yelling at me for no reason. This is my first time using the post office as an international student, and she is extremely condescending. She is racist, because I was the only Asian in that line at the time and she did not treat other people in that way. This is the worst Post office I ever visited anywhere. I usually go to the one on 104 St., which is slightly better. I have a small Emotional Support Dog that is very well behaved and that I am allowed to bring to offices, banks, restaurants. I have the necessary registration. The nasty woman behind the counter yelled across the entire office that 'pets' were not allowed. She made me, and 4 other people wait for 20 minutes. When it was finally my turn, she again yelled that my dog was not allowed. People like her don't make us want to support the postal service. This post office is one of the worst, but I feel like that about every post office I go to. I don't understand how the USPS system could be so bad! The service here is terrible. The staff are rude and unhelpful, no matter how simple your questions/requests are. I much rather use the self-service kiosk than deal with their non-sense. If you come in early morning or during lunch hour forget about it as the line gets crazy long. I never have a good experience unless I'm just coming to drop off a package and go. read more

Unsurprisingly dumb and rude. The sign says "serving next person at #6" but the person at the counter will say "wait until I call you". I guess they are trying to exert what little control they have. Also complained about the box being not perfectly sealed so she wouldn't have to scan it ( but admitted it was fine to mail). I guess this is the job you get when you can't find anything else and you have no skills. No wonder the postal service will be gone and replaced by private companies. It's not fail-safe advice, and it's no help if you're truly in a hurry, but I have worked out a method with this place: Step one: walk by. If the line is short, go in and wait. it sucks, but no more than any other post office. If the line is long, proceed to step two. Step Two: walk 4 more feet to Book Culture, and peruse. Once bored with endless books about Proust, exit. Walk back four feet. Look at the line. If short, go in. If still long, proceed to step three. Step Three: wander to Tom's on the corner. Avoid the food and go straight for the giant milkshake. Drink milkshake. Return to post office, suck it up and wait, full of chocolaty goodness. read more

It's a post office, and everything every other reviewer has mentioned is true. Coming here and waiting in line only reaffirms the value and beauty of life as soon as you step outside into the fresh air. I have to single out a particular experience here in December, where my girlfriend had gone here to post a present overseas, and come back in tears. She's not the sort to cry regularly, and she is more than capable of day to day tasks. We've moved to NY from Australia in the last few months, so she's unfamiliar with the postage system. I'll spare the details, but she was essentially cursed at and bullied by the overweight woman behind the desk (I only mention that so you can stay away from her if you have to go here), for asking questions about cost and types of postage and for the way she completed the customs form. A totally unacceptable attitude from that employee, and a formal complaint is on its way. Oh, and bring your own pen if you hope to be able to address anything whilst in the store. Avoid this post office. This is the worse post office I have ever been to in the United States. The post office employees that work here are indifferent and at times incredibly mean to the customers. The worse one is the heavy set woman who does not like getting up out of her chair. You can't miss her because she slouches in her chair and loose what little shape she has. My stomach goes into knots, my temples slightly throb, my teeth clench, my hands become tight fists, my lungs contract and constrict rapidly and my mind entertains extreme homicidal thoughts whenever I have to go the Post Office on 112th Street. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted by an enormous, snaking line that has little chance of moving anytime soon. Bring your sleeping back and some provisions, because you're gonna be here awhile. The counter may have 7 or 8 stations, but no more than 2 are filled at a time. Break and lunch time are top priorities with the staff - no matter how long you are waiting and especially if you are next in line. Just as you over-anticipate your turn and start prematurely walking to the window before being told "Next", the postal worker inevitably turns and walks away, announcing to his/her colleague that is time for his/her break. Ugh! You turn, half-embarrassed, fully infuriated and trudge back to the head of line. When you actually need to utilize the desk services at the post-office, it's never a simple task and usually accompanies some questions. There is no place to find the answers to these questions without waiting an eternity in that damn line, be rejected by the employee leaving the window, only to be told, when someone finally waits on you, that, you need this and you need that and you need to go back there and get this and then do that. Oh really? How about you frickin' have some sort of info booth or stand or something to let me know that before I waste half my day here you sack of crap? Civil servant my ass - there is NO civility in the exchange whatsoever. Oh the times I have told myself I would write to the Postmaster General about this place! But, then, I stop and think - who the hell writes to the Postmaster General anyway? Who is the Postmaster General? And, why is that a military title? Who entertains these questions? See - the PO on 112th messes with your mind. This is the only place I know where the customers are the ones who are forced to wanna go postal. When I lived on 108th and Columbus in the youth of my NYC residency, I'd frequent this post office a lot. Even as I lived on 181st, I would come down here. I live in Inwood now...and I'll STILL come down here. Why? Self-service kiosks. They only have one, which isn't a big deal, but I prefer NOT to deal with postal employees, and none of the post office's in my current 'hood, even the one that's 2 blocks from my apartment, has one. This Post Office is One of the Best in the City. Not only are the Workers there polite but they're also helpful. I come often to mail out my packages and also buy shipping supplies. This Post Office at times reminds me of the TV show Cheers bc the Workers and some of the Customers know each other by first name basis. I've noticed that Customers are rude to the Workers and expecting them to tape, pack and write their letters, packages and envelopes for them which they're not allowed to do. Customers also want to do all their packaging in front of the Workers as well and not considerate that there's other people behind them. So let's not blame everything on the Workers. read more
