I applied for a new passport here this past Saturday, and was helped at this location by Beatrice. Overall it was a good experience. My main advice is to make sure you come as prepared as possible. For my case that meant: 1) Have an appointment - I saw people wait patiently in line and once they reached the window they were turned away because they didn't have an appointment. Make one on the website, and if all the slots are booked keep checking back because people go reschedule or cancel. 2) Have all the correct forms filled out - I found this relatively easy to do through the govt passport website 3) Have photocopies of all needed documents- There's a Staples nearby, just go make copies in advance 4) Have your picture ready - This place says they can do it for you, but it really isn't difficult to take a photo on your phone, crop it from one of the many online passport photo websites, and get it printed at CVS. As long as you spend the time in advance to have all your ducks in a row, this place is fine in helping you apply for a passport. Beatrice was quick and professional. If you'd prefer more proactive hand-holding customer service, just go pay for this service through a travel agency. read more

Continue to exhibit indefensibly bad levels of customer service. Showed up at 6:54 (before a 7pm closing) needing to just scan one poshmark label at the kiosk. A thirty second task at most. Find the doors locked despite the clearly posted closing time of 7pm. See two employees just shooting the breeze behind the counter so I knock. They ignore me. Knock more. "We're closed," one shouts back. "It's not even 7 yet," I reply. The idiot just shrugs before turning back to chat with colleagues. Horrid attitude. I dread going there more than the dentist. I am always expecting some kind of difficulty.

Hate to agree with everyone but I would also give zero stars if I could. Waited in line for 2 hours to pick up a package. There was one employee working and clearly doing his best, obviously not his fault. While waiting 3 people walked out because it was taking too long. After about an hour of waiting and hearing people laugh in the back one of them comes out to open another window, I know what you're thinking "yay!" but you like me would be incorrect. Her user account was disabled so then we wait some more. Line continues to grow, people continue to get mad. Finally got my package from the original guy, never saw "disabled user account lady" again. I imagine she went back to laughing with her... friends in the back. I wish that my package was delivered anywhere else. Avoid this place at all costs unless you're ONLY dropping off a prepaid package, the self serve window and machines are easy peasy. read more

Not the worst service ever... but pretty bad. I had an appointment window of 2:15-2:30 to submit my passport documents. When I got there, the guy was "at lunch". Does the word "appointment" mean nothing to them? He was supposed to get back at 2:30... so I waited. At 2:33 I asked the woman in the next booth where he was and she mouthed off to me, like *I'm* in the wrong. Finally he shows up and dodders around ignoring me for five minutes. When I finally ask if he's ever going to be ready he thinks for a while before saying "someone turned off my computer, you need to wait". So I waited some more. At long last he starts working, and he takes *forever*. But he does get it done. If I ran this place I'd fire his manager. read more

The worst post office service imaginable. At 12:30 PM there was no one working any retail window. Finally found one person who took 8 minutes to start their computer to make a transaction. Do not use this location for passport services. Someone else here on Yelp said be as prepared as possible, which we were. We filled out the passport application for our child online and had everything printed and ready. However, the clerk at this location told us that the check amount was wrong and threw it back at us (it was not wrong, it matched the exact amount from the online application). When we tried to explain this, she said she wouldn't process our application and pushed all our materials back to us. When we asked for her name and to speak to her supervisor, she refused to give her name and claimed, "I am the supervisor", which was an obvious lie. When I tried to get a photo of her and her name badge, she walked away from the kiosk into a back room. I didn't realize it was okay for a federal employee to lie and arbitrarily deny government services to people. This location must be exhibit no. 1 for why Trump wants to privatize the USPS. read more

Just horrific. Ever since the DMV underwent a major face-lift where you can make appointments online and bop in and out within minutes, the mantle of excruciating inefficiency falls to the post office. It's gotten to the point where I have given up shopping with certain online retailers if I know they use USPS because "free shipping + returns" doesn't take into account the cost of waiting on a line that refuses to budge. It's one thing to be inefficient, it's another for the employees here to seem to take a twisted glee in being as unhelpful as possible. We once brought an untaped up box here (after multiple times bringing it to the UPS store where someone would just run the tape roll over it a few times, free of charge). The guy behind the glass almost had a heart attack at our audacity. He kept insisting that we needed to have taped it up first (which, fine, that was our bad) but he took it way over the line when he straight-up refused to point out to us where we could BUY a tape roller in the supplies that were available a few feet away. Just shook his head, smirking, no matter how many times we asked. Finally, he started referring to my husband as a "bouncer" and I took that as the cue to just get out of there. I saw him again the last time I went and the way he was talking to another customer was just so reminiscent of my own interactions with him that it seems quite clear this is someone who loves abusing what power he's managed to cull from his job. I was dreading being called to his kiosk; thankfully, all I really had to do was put my box in the window. Even that was imbued with ridiculous drama. I was reaching over to pull up the handle when I saw that his side of the window was still up and put my hand down; but then he still made this exaggerated motion that I had to wait. He literally held up his hand with the fingers spread out (like a high-five) and stared me down. Oy. Agree x1000 with the review that compared waiting on line here to a confessional, one where the priest verbally flogs you within an inch of your life. read more

The worst post office in NYC. The employees are rude, ignorant of the basic services a post office provides, and when you tell them "I was able to get this service just two weeks ago," they gaslight you and tell you it never happened. Um. I think I remember getting hand canceled stamps just three weeks ago. I remember, because it required getting a manager involved because the employee was so ignorant she didn't even understand what it meant, then tried to discourage me from getting it because "it costs more." FedEx and UPS will eventually put this agency out of business, and I used to sympathize with USPS but now I simply think they'll be getting what they deserve because I've never, EVER left a UPS or FedEx as angry and frustrated as I do when I leave USPS. This is the WORST POST OFFICE OF ALL TIME!!!! If you dont want to be in line until the next day, don't go here. The workers will see that the line is going out the door and STILL ignore the customers. While frustration from waiting sets in, you'll have the benefit of watching the workers laugh and lounge behind the glass while they ignore you. There can be anywhere from 2-4 people behind the glass and ALWAYS just ONE person working the window and they are RIDICULOUSLY slow. They simply do not care. The longest I've waited here was 40 minutes and there were only 4 people ahead of me. It should never take that long to handle customers. Several times I've left for having waited entirely to long to be serviced. I'm not rude or disrespectful but I (and many others whom I've spoken with in line) feel the same way. My coworker has to go here daily for our company's mail and it is always the worst part of his day. It would be EXTREMELY appreciated if the post master could do something about this particular branch's work ethic because they TRULY do not care! read more

Beware PASSPORTS- 1. The appointment time doesn't actually matter. You need to have an appointment but if they are running three hours late and people who have appointments after you but arrived before you- nothing you can do about it unless you want to haggle with the other customers about place in line. 2. Have a copy of EVERYTHING. Who knew you needed a copy of the *back* of a birth certificate. No they don't have a copier. So if you were waiting for three hours and don't have a copy of the back of your child's birth certificate you have to leave to go find a copier. That's all. Isn't that enough? read more

Compared to my local post office, this place is a palace! It's an old building with high ceilings and plenty of space, so it's easy to practice social distancing and large enough that no one has to wait outside. As for the staff, even before covid-19, they often stayed behind the thick glass wall that separates customers from employees, and they continue to do this today. Likewise, I've never seen staff members on the other side of the glass wall helping customers so if you have a question (no matter how small), you have to wait in line to speak with an employee and ask it. This is still 10x better than the one closest to me on 95th street and Columbus Avenue which is so narrow and small that the bulldogs who work there make you wait outside, even if all you have is a prepaid envelope or package to drop off! Just remember, if you want the process to go quickly, try to come prepared because the type of customers who come with batches of questions are the ones that make waiting unavoidable. read more

Hi! I love this post office. I love it so much that I'll come here for my postal needs rather than my local one where I live. The lines are usually not very long and move well. The c/s is cordial and efficient and the place is kept pretty clean. It could use a little paint though. I like everything and would have given 5 stars except for the automatic doors. Despite making an appointment, which was required, given her incompetence, everyone was in line for 2 plus hours just to be turned around. They do not have walking for passport services as the USP page said they do. They always have a problem either with the picture or the appointments or something else. just got back from the post office. they did not have the extra postage amount stamp to put on my christmas card so they said 'use two of the forever stamps' even though it was 20cents more than required. I said why should i pay an extra 20 cents per card if I dont have to. She said 'dont complain to me, complain to the US Post office. Hmmm. Don't they have the ability to weigh each card and print the amount on a sticker and put it on the card? that was never offered as an option i assume because she did not want to take the time, so she offered the only solution she was prepared to give which was to overstamp my mail. i witnessed how an employee came to the lobby rearranged everything neatly fixed the documents and stocked all the boxes i had to go back home to get my wallet and when i returned about a hr later the lobby was a complete mess. its horrible how the customers complain about how the post office looks but they are the first ones who leave it in disarray. why cant u simply throw your own garbage away which is seconds away from the table and respect the next customer. they are the reason the place is the way it is and they also steal all the pens the clerks put out i have witnessed this as a customer who lives nearby please clean up after your self. you should be ashamed... read more

Counter staff lacks competence, training and motivation. You are moving to a new location. You hand a completed official form to them and this person throws it in a bin like a used cigarette. Several days later you realize they did not process the form correctly. They did not care or they did not know what they were doing. Does it even matter which one? They certainly know your request wouldn't be completed. Why is this office even here, then? You could have easily just gone to the official USPS website, paid a $1.10 fee, given them your credit card, been bombarded with useless ads and promotions, corralled and pushed into voter registration that has little or nothing to do with what you are trying to accomplish, then be privileged to receive even more "special" offers. Be aware, sometimes the stamp machine does not disperse stamps (so much for an in-and-out task) after purchase. However, the cashier was really nice and gave me a few stamps. The struggling machine was not a big deal, because the line for a postal worker was fairly short and I did not have to overexplain myself to the postal worker. Had the wait been more than 15 minutes, I would have been very disappointed. I will say that this post office is in need of a little upkeep, because there was trash and junk everywhere (it reminded me of a random bus station). I will not complain too much because I am sure that there are far worse post offices than this one. read more

I would have rather spent 4 days walking to the address of where I was trying to send my letter to than wait on this line, during a pandemic, as it was moving slower than molasses with workers who were making small talk with EVERY SINGLE customer to the point where I was here just shy of 45 minutes while remaining second in line. SECOND. I thought I was being punk'd. Big store, maybe 6 windows capable of taking customers but only 2 people working behind the counter, that's fine as long as you keep the line moving. I try to not go to the post office unless I really need to. I needed to send a piece of mail of high value. I had the intention of them giving me tracking info for the letter, but the woman working the counter made me buy a larger envelope. She had me re-write the address. I did it and went back to get her help. She entered the address, and I saw it appear on the digital display next to me. Wrong address. I stated the address again. She entered it again. Still incorrect. I clearly stated the street numbers. She then said "oh, that's a 9, it looks like a 7!" She showed it to me, and of course I will say "it's a 9." I wrote it. Third time was a charm, she got it correct. In any cases she was cordial and wasn't mean. Just took a bit to get things going. Glad to have visited early in the morning, I wouldn't have wanted to wait in any line if they ever have one during the day. read more

While in the area of Upper West Side and having a good day for a positive interview, this Post Office Planetarium Station will destroy one's inner happiness for sure!! I greeted this unfathomably nasty monster with a "good morning" which she brushed me off... lovely start to a sales transaction right? I needed ten pieces of first class stamps at $.44, but no ordinary U.S. flag for this avid Philatelic collector, thus inquire the availablilty I got the scolding of the day!!! All I desired was to obtain unique and various first class stamps both for usage and Philatelic. The postal clerk woman screamed in a unfathomably nasty attitude: "you want to see what patterns and I'm showing you!!" She then shot a rude scrow look with the line behind me waiting for service and yelled: "why are you all standing behind there, when the line wraps around as you can see the rope??!" With limited pattern, choice of first class stamps and the added bonus of unfathomably nasty monster exposing one's wrath, it is extremely disappointing. "High, higher than the sun I go!!" With this Yelp review I further take this complaint directly to USPS online where at the bottom of the sales receipt has a link for customer experience. Aija!!
