Cathedral Station USPS strikes again. Requested redelivery. Item never came. Called them this past Wednesday, was told it would be here today. Mail was delivered...no item included. Called them, was told the package was returned to the sender. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. This place never seems to improve...just get worse and worse. Horrendous they really couldn't care less about the customer. We had a long line of people standing here waiting to be serviced.... There was only one clerk working in this huge post office. she decided to just close the booth so now there's no one to handle the customers We're just standing in line like dumb chickens. Usually I hate this post office but this morning Kevin helped me. He was efficient, helpful, and pleasant. I was sending several certified letters with return receipts, he took care of everything in minutes. At 9:15 8 of us were in line but it moved quickly. rudest passport agent ever. i didn't even get two words out before this lady started giving me mad attitude and started raising her voice instead of just simply telling me like a normal person that i made a mistake with one of my documents. I could understand if it was packed in there, but there was only one person after me. I've had three packages sent to me from Puerto Rico. All and I do mean all "mysteriously" disappeared. I called to let them know the package had not been delivered. They stated that all deliveries are GPS'd so she would call be back and tell me what happened. Never got a call. What I did get was a letter saying sorry it was delivered. Guess what showed up today? From a Super TWO BLOCKS AWAY. He and my husband use the same barber and got to talking. The package has been in his lobby for 3 weeks. The contents are ruined. So basically the USPS is instructed to lie to you in writing. I'll be filing a complaint with the PMG. read more

Each of the workers should learn how to make eye contacts straight with customers when someone asks for help. I'm sure there are hard workers with great service to customers. It's been well over a week since I was asked to leave my number for the supervisor to call me regarding a package this branch of the USPS lost (it's my mom's Christmas gift I was sending since I can't travel home for the holidays this year); I've NEVER received a call. Since they don't have the care to contact me, I've tried calling back multiple times since, and again, can't reach the supervisor. I dropped my package off on Dec 5th and paid extra for Signature Delivery. It's now Dec 24th and the tracking online just shows "received" by the post office on the day I dropped it off. No other update and it was scheduled to arrive on Dec 9th. No one can tell me anything about the package. This USPS branch is a failure in terms of competency & customer service/friendliness. Customers beware of this location if you want your packages to arrive. However, if you enjoy unfriendly employees that can't help you with most things, and rolling the dice with your shipments, then this is your place! read more

Avoid if possible. The usual post office situation. Very very slow. Many staff walking up and down behind the counter. Only two windows open and long line. Who manages this place? I have been told you have go to window 10. I go to window 10. There is nobody at window 10. Went back to the window 3 she said I know I know no one at window 10. With that she disappeared found somebody to go to window 10. At window 10 I'm asked to go to the self service machine to get a print out of my delivery. The machine has many options. I enter the tracking number and am able to get a record of the undelivered package. Now having to wait until window 10 is available. At window 10 a very frustrated lady spoke very quickly I had to ask her to slow down which just seemed to add to her frustration! She says she's going to see if she can find my package! A post office review probably means less than nothing, since their reputation is so low already. But if only one person reads this and avoids this location, it will have been worthwhile. We had made an appointment in the USPS site for passport acceptance and mailing. We were there 10 minutes prior to the appointment, just to be safe. After waiting 1/2 hour, we inquired at another window to find out what was up. The nasty clerk relied that we should be patient. After further inquiries, we were informed that the passport woman was on lunch break until 3:15 pm. That was disconcerting, as our appointment was for 2:15 pm. There were also people there for 2:30 and 2:45 appointments. It's obvious that no one at work his location cared at all for proper service. I know not to expect a visit to the post office to be pleasant, but the complete disregard for customer service is still disturbing. I can see why one should avoid a post office visit if at all possible. read more

I dealt with some of the rudest and most unprofessional staff I've ever dealt with at this post office. I went to pick up a package; I spoke to an employee behind the desk who then went to look for it and disappeared. When another employee came by, I repeated what I was looking for and she also disappeared. At one point a supervisor came by and had a "We can't find your package and that's your problem, not ours" attitude. When I pointed out I had been standing there for 45 minutes, she rudely responded "Well, we've been looking for 45 minutes." I asked if there was a way to verify if my package was with one of their carriers and they said they didn't care. No wonder so much of my mail gets undelivered with a staff this disorganized. read more

Providing simple service to customers happens slowly between lengthy personal conversations with co-workers. Part-time minimum wage teenagers at McDonalds have a better sense of customer service than the salaried, full-time adults working at this post office. A lot of the poor quality of the post office is the result of actions outside of the control of the branch employees, but the service they provide the customers is in their control, and they make minimal effort. read more

I guess this is sadly a given at this point, but during my 30-second interaction with an employee of this location, she managed to be impossibly rude. I asked a question which she ignored and just told me to "put the two packages in already!", and then proceeds to tell me that they can't mail the package because it was incomplete. Then she called the next customer in line. Well, that's what my question was. I work in customer service and understand people can be annoying but I hadn't even had a chance to speak before she started giving me her nasty attitude. read more

The line snakes around the rope because there is only one teller on duty, there are others in their windows but they're all counting their tills or doing something else. The line doesn't move. They took out the clock in the lobby probably because they don't want us to know how long we're waiting in line. C'mon folks learn how to stagger your staff. read more

This location is rarely busy (yay!!) but I'm coming here to shout out a young woman named Annette who helped me yesterday track a lost and rerouted package. She was incredibly friendly, patient, and thorough while helping me. Honestly have not gotten such nice service at any NYC Post office lately, so this particular employees deserves praise! Today a young woman working at the counter greeted me with "Good afternoon may I help you?" and when I replied "May I have a book of stamps -- " she interrupted me and said "Don't you know how to say good afternoon?" Somehow they manage to deliver the junk mail but if you're waiting for a check or an important piece of mail, good luck. When I call to see where my mail is I'm told the mail carrier is "filling in" for the regular one which I guess means we can't expect to get our mail delivered correctly. The staff from the post office on 104th Street between Broadway & Amsterdam are the WORST! They have NO customer service; they are loud with attitude, rude, and like to carry personal conversations while on duty and ignore the customers in front of their faces. They act as if they are doing you a favor. I don't know what kind of supervisor they have because any staff to perform the way they do is unbelievable. They have animals working there not humans. I've been here about 10 times in the 5 years I've lived here. 4 of those times there have been loud, public fights among the customers; every time there has been a very long line and only 1-2 workers in the window; and this latest time, the automatic postage machine was broken. But it's the post office in NYC. What the hell did we expect? I recommend deep breathing exercises, an ipod or a good book, and you can make it through unscathed. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I don't know how they are still open OR how they get away with the Crazy that goes on in there. Employees curse and yell at each other, have personal conversations and berate customers for all to see and hear. If I weren't so shocked half the time, Id laugh from how ludicrous the entire situation is. The delivery people mirror the station to perfection with loud phone calls, jamming mail into slots and just plain attitude on display at all times. I have sat in front of my building waiting for packages with no delivery attempt only to receive tracking information stating another unsuccessful delivery attempt. If they keep complaint files, I have quite a large one. Living in this neighborhood 12 years and sadly they have been nothing if not consistent... Its gotten worst the last 5 years! read more

Whoever was assigned to work the passport station for my appointment didn't show up to work that day. So after ignoring me for 20 minutes, the staff told me the appointment was cancelled because there's no one to help me. It's now unclear whether I'll be making my trip at all. I have only used this branch ONCE but since the result was something short of miraculous, had to share my FIVE STAR experience. Arrived on THURSDAY FEBRUARY 11, a bit before 4 p.m. with oversized envelopes containing homemade Valentines for my grandsons in Baltimore and DC as well as nieces and nephews in Jersey City and on Staten Island. ALL of the Valentines arrived....ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 13! The envelopes were not standard; some held two valentines; and I wanted to use my own stamps. The young associate who helped me was patient when I asked her more than once if she was SURE that the different weighted envelopes take the same amount of stamps. She was right -- all the envelopes were under 13 ounces and all arrived in less than 48 hours at their destination. P.S. This accommodating staff member -- and her two colleagues -- were all masked during the time that I stood online and was served. read more
