I never understand bad reviews of the post office in any neighborhood but then I'm patient with postal workers. I don't go unless I'm prepared to wait. The US Post Office at this location on Columbus Avenue was very convenient for me when I lived on the West Side. It's busy and the line gets long at peak times of day. I'm retired so I mail my correspondence here when I'm out early hanging around this neighborhood. I definitely recommend this branch if you live or work nearby. read more

I visited a postal office to check if I have appropriate postage on my three letters; one for abroad and two are domestics. At the window I said, " I want to make sure I put the right amount of stamps for these three mails." A postal agent looked at the mails and said," You do not have enough stamps for these three envelopes." I replied him that I had mentioned that. He let me answer the machine about my envelope contents. I had to answer if there is a liquid or dangerous items in my envelopes. Then the agent tried to vent my envelope and told me if there were vendable items in the envelope I have to cover it. Eventually another agent came to me and said,"You are rude. we reject to serve you." I just wanted to know if I put the right amount of stamps on my three envelopes. When I left, the agent told me that one of my mail needed $.75 more, but another domestic one is OK, which I was doubt. I want to know what kind of prejudice or unfair treatment from the postal office. read more

I needed packages to be tracked and mailed to my children on separate occasions. Both denied - one package was too small, another envelope they couldn't locate the receiving US zip code (I went to a nearby station and mailed both packages out). But, the customer service was very unfriendly and dismissive and one clerk who was not even working the window rudely added her comments and yelled - I get it - my packages are rejected and they will not help to correct. As described, I went to a nearby post office and sent the packages off (no corrections needed, fyi). Terrible, unnecessary, experiences (and even if the clerks could have been correct, that would not validate their aggressive manners) and I will not return. read more

I went last Thursday banking card for a medium to go from Manhattan to Cop for two little babies that's on horrible to the 800 number for this post office in particular and my receipt got mixed up somewhere with the tracking number on it amongst a lot of Christmas receipts there Customer Service tells me without that they can't retrieve it at all so my thing to them was whether it was insured or not they should be able to look up from somebody's email or debit or credit card purchase or ZIP Code or phone number to be able to also track it for a companies do they telling me that they can so basically what they're saying to me if it's lost and I can't come across the receipt then my package lost and these are Christmas babies shame on the United States Postal Service whether they get delivered or not the fact that they've been out so long they should have secondary for the consumers. We work hard. We pay a lot of money and things are expensive not to have not handled the to get delivered to customers around the so yes I one rating considering that there's no and they didn't get the job done and they promised me that it would be delivered from last week Thursday to this Monday and no delivery from the recipient she has not received the package read more

Trolls populate this branch. Don't bother trying to show up before they close as the line will be just as long and the staff just as slow and disgruntled. Rarely more than two people ever on duty. Free supplies are either meager or non-existent. Worst branch in the area. Desperation should be your only reason to come here. No signs in the office says that masks are required. I walked in seeing two maskless people being helped with mailing things out, I waited in line for 5 minutes, then a rude woman walks out from the back (who, herself, is maskless) says I can't be helped without a mask even though they are also behind a plastic wall. I'm fully vaccinated, tested negative, and totally don't mind wearing a mask at all. But if they just had extras, were actually wearing masks themselves, and upheld the mask policy for everyone, then maybe I wouldn't be writing this bad review. read more

It's almost humorous how mean some of the staff can be. An angry older woman yelled at me for putting my package in the wrong spot. I asked why she was mad at me (I get it, maybe not the best move but I was so caught off guard by how mean she was to me). She didn't like my question so she said she needed a break and literally left a line of people to pile up for 10 minutes. When she came back, she helped the 2 people behind me while she had me wait for another teller. Who PS was lovely. I do feel sad that her day was so bad - and clearly I was the icing on the cake. Not for those in a rush. Be prepared to deal with workers who have a bad day, every day. No matter what time of day you happen to stop by, you'll be last in a line of 20 disgruntled customers impatiently waiting as 2 clerks plod along as best they can with their mediocre customer service and mail processing skills. The worst part of coming here is that workers bring a boat load of attitude to the table, making even routine and quick transactions a complete pain. I had to drop off a pre-paid Amazon return and wound up in line for 30 minutes because the drop off slot out front wasn't working. When I finally got to the counter, I got dirty looks...for what reason exactly? If all of this isn't bad enough, they seem to have some of the worst music imaginable piped in over the speakers, mainly old school R and B jams in mono. Nothing like some vintage Luther Vandross to soothe those frayed nerves. read more

Yes. There is always a line. Yes. There are only 2-3 clerks. It's one of the smaller post offices I've ever been in. What do you expect? But they are uncommonly friendly and if the customers have their crap together, they are reasonably quick. So please get your mass of parcels in order before you get on line and waste everybody's time. Plus, they're not behind bulletproof glass. It bugs me when they are. It makes me feel like it's visiting day in Sing-Sing. The Post Office has decided to up their game. They have put greeting card racks in all their locations now. And they have decorative boxes and padded envelopes for gifts. Perfect for forgetful screw-ups like me who wait until the last minute to do anything. They have pens. You may have to ask the clerk for one, but they don't seem to give people a hard time about it. Just return them please or they may have to stop being so accommodating. Getting good customer service is about not being a jackass customer. It's hard to help the helpless. But they tend to be the ones to complain the most and the loudest. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Pretty good for the USPS. Pretty good. read more

Waited in line for nearly 20 minutes and then was lucky enough to interact with two of the rudest people working on the UWS. It started with one of them telling the man in front of me to step 2 feet back to the sign where the line begins. Then after waiting to get to the front the teller did not even look up at me was more concerned with counting her drawer and closing up for the day. She then tells me to scratch off my address from the box instead of offering tape to cover the address which I have done before and her manager said could be done when I was waiting in line. Bottom line they don't care about customer service and have the best job security so it's easier for them to get customers to walk away than to actually do their work. read more

Hands down, the rudest workers ever! The African American woman that works behind the first counter to the left - is a nasty human being with absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. She's so rude to customers and just has the meanest disposition ever. She needs to retire ASAP! The Hispanic woman is slightly more tolerable, but not by much. The experience at this post office was by far the worst customer experience I've ever had. It ended in me having a panic attack due to the hostility, rudeness, and dismissive attitude of two employees at this establishment. Unfortunately I only have one name to this horrendous incident. I will be talking about Angie. I was told Angie was a supervisor (and found out later on she is not such) and to speak to her. My problem was I had a Amazon return and pictures of the instructions given to me by my mother but, according to both these rude women it did not matter I would need to purchase the packaging because that's the policy. There was obviously a communication issue and I tried to address it multiple times by attempting to show them the images for clarification. Neither women looked at these photos or tried to help. Angie even took it upon herself to continually raise her voice at me and even made the following comment, "Amazon could tell you to step on your head it does not change our policy." During both interactions I gave these women chances to speak only to be snapped at, dismissed aggressively, and treated as a nuisance. When I tried to speak up for myself, Angie looked rather offended and then proceeded to try and over talk me. She even got louder and seemed even more offended when in my frustrated anxious state I said "you aren't listening to me" and became much more aggressive with her dismissal. After I left, I ended up having a rather severe panic attack in public that carried on in front of strangers, peers, and even my own family. I will again highlight: This interaction felt so confrontational to me that I had a panic attack. No customer should ever leave an establishment feeling that negative. My father was so concerned and upset by my attack that he took me back to go find out who this woman, Angie, was. We were locked out due to the office being closed. However it took no time getting the truth as a bystander from the office who saw the interaction commended my father for going to make a complaint. This gentleman even went as far as to call Angie's behavior disgusting. Overall the experience at this post office was by far awful and I would never go again. Especially not with Angie and her coworker there. These were grown women abusing their power and projecting their miserable attitudes into their work and I or anyone else on the upper west side should have to put up with their dismissiveness, rudeness, and aggressive nature. read more

Small but fast moving. Employees were friendly and efficient. They wasted no time with bullshitting around and I can appreciate that a lot! I was harassed by Yvonne when mailing a package with my service dog in tow. She immediately refused to help me, wagging her finger and saying "you saw two signs at the door." As a matter of fact, I did not see any signs. Then, when I attempted to speak up, she just bullied me off line. After I helped myself at the kiosk, I confronted her, telling her that her treatment was inappropriate. And the woman did not care that my animal was a service animal. She then went on to judge my dog's behavior and told me to stop holding up her line. She is a disgrace to humanity and I would love to see her fired. Of course, she is a prime example of misery projecting itself on everything she can. But she should not get to do it on the clock. Out with Yvonne. If I need stamps I go to this post office because it is walking distance from work and has an automated stamp machine that is usually (but not always) working. If I want to wait in line, I know I can depend on this post office to have one! In terms of the staff, I have been served by some very helpful and friendly people and one or two others who were not so helpful but overall my experiences have been quite positive! read more

When they talk about machines replacing people this is a perfect example of why people who are ungrateful to have a job and just rude should be replaced! Saw another post on here about a woman with dreads being rude and unprofessional so decided to add on to the rant list on her because I got the same lady. She did a 180 when I got to her. The two men who she took care of before she was sweet as pie. Even felt bad for her as I eavesdropped on her convo. Long story short she's been with the USPS for 5 years and dropped out of school when she got pregnant and didn't finish her degree and joined the USPS instead. Clearly unhappy and taking it out on customers. My recommendation... Use the one self service machine when possible and if you get the miserable woman with dreads and if she gets disrespectful look her dead in the eyes and tell her to be professional or just quit her job. It worked for me. They're all unionized so virtually impossible to get fired. Good luck! read more

Brain cells are dangerously depleted and in minuscule supply here. PO Box renters are required to ring a buzzer to retrieve larger packages. When Ms. Dobbins responds, she gives off an enraged energy, like you've interrupted a vital nap she was having. This station is also under staffed and you'll end up having to get in a long line to retrieve multiple or larger items delivered to your box. Some of the employees here operate with a reckless impunity. If you encounter a rude postal worker, take note of their name; each postal worker is required to wear a name tag and the receipt also contains their ID number and call the 1-800 number to make a formal complaint. If more people opened their mouths, the atrocious behavior at USPS would improve because they'd finally comprehend that their disrespect and stupidity has consequences. read more

This is one of the better post offices. The tellers are generally polite and some are downright friendly! (Compared to other post offices this is a BIG difference) They also work pretty fast so the lines tend to move quickly. For me to give a Post Office 4 stars it has to be really good. When I ran a internet business where I had to ship packages practically every day of the week I would have KILLED for the service I get at this office! read more

It all looks rather run down, but it was a quick and painless experience. There's an automated stamp machine near the entrance which can save you some time if you know what you're after, which I unfortunately didn't. As a clueless Aussie looking for stamps for post cards, I joined the queue, which was reasonably short. The lady serving at the counter was both polite and friendly, and had me on my way with a minimum of fuss. I hope this information can correct this very uncomfortable situation, the mail has authorized your employees to sign the parcel deliveries even if the person is not present, when they leave a package in the hall of your building without your being present, I think it is something Illegal because no one can sign my name without my authorization and without me being present, the ideal is how other companies are doing when they deliver your package and you are present asking why I can sign for you? !! that is the correct thing, not to take an action related to my person that when I made the purchase I asked that the delivery regulate that it be signed when it is received that is the correct and appropriate thing, the point should be clarified, I do not think anyone likes it That someone is signing their name without their authorization that is illegal, I do not know what the person who supposedly ordered that to his employees thought !!! read more
