Went online to have my package redelivered and waited all day, called murray Hill and they told me my package was at the post office. I ask them to have it redelivered and here I am waiting and no package. USPS sucks they also leave my priority mail at my door and we don't have a doorman in NYCHA. This is not the first time it's been going on for year called and written every address to complain that I can find, for a few month its great them goes back to the same. I work for a law firm in midtown and am forced contantly to have to come to this establishment when I do my certified mail. I think it's INSANE that they don't have a business line for people with prepaid mail. Why should I stand in a line when I already have postage on everything and all I need is a date plug. Then....when you approach an employee, no one wants to help you and the floor manager assisting the line catches major attitude. I'm sorry isn't that your job? Recently, I had an issue with an employee here who when I asked for assistance completely ignored me then the second time around responded with "I'm sorry ma'am but I'm gonna continue to ignore you because I'm just not gonna help you". That's just outrageous! Then...when I file a complaint, the "SUPERVISOR" who I'm sure is a friend of the guys, calls me up and condones the behavior by saying that isn't his job. I completely understand if it's not the guys job to give me a plug so I can be on my way, but his mannerism and inappropriate behavior was just rude and unprofessional. I'm not ecstatic to have to be at the post office doing mail when all my co-workers are on their ass BUT I have no choice, to have to come here and deal with rude, nasty workers whose job is to assist but catch attitude when you ask for assistance. If you must go to the post office, CHOOSE ELSEWHERE!! You'll find lines here out the door at times and workers that will just dampen your day! read more

The 5 stars go to one employee: Pete. I don't live in the area, but I was around that way for work so I decided to just go there instead of the terrible one I usually go to in Brooklyn (truly the worst post office ever). The line was pretty long, but it moved quickly. While in line I saw a sign with illustrations saying you can't ship in boxes with graphics and logos on the outside, and my package was in a coffee maker box. I prepared myself to have to purchase a box, and also to receive attitude from whoever was helping me (because we all know that most post offices lacks common courtesy). When I got up to the counter the first thing I did was apologize to Pete about the box I had, and that I'll purchase a blank one that I saw on display behind him. He told me I had nothing to apologize for and that purchasing a box was not necessary. He got white blank label stickers and covered the box so no barcodes or logos were showing. He also was super patient when the address I was sending to was not coming up and I had to call my friend to get the correct address. I was floored by how nice he was.... Even I would have gotten irritated with myself if I was helping me. Also while he was helping me, the next customer in line was letting others go before her because she was specifically waiting for Pete to help her. So it was clear that he's a consistently friendly person who is amazing at customer service. Way to go Pete! As silly as it sounds, he made my day. One of the better USPS branches in the city. One feature I love is that a roving manager will go up and down the line to ask if he can help with anything. Where are we, Tulsa? Wanted to ship an item to Hong Kong with tracking. A bit more complicated than you would think because of international restrictions. Was helped by a lady behind one of the counters at first. She told me what to do but wasn't very clear about it at all. Ended up asking the guy who was helping the customers on the floor. Pete was extremely helpful. He explained the entire process to me and helped me wrap my package (with fancy tape that needs water to activate) so that it'd comply with registered mail standards. This saved me money as the lady behind the counter had told me to put it in a registered mail envelope. Then, seeing that the line was so long, he took my package behind the counter and shipped it out himself! Pete was knowledgeable, extremely efficient, and went above and beyond his duty. He should really be recognized for his exceptional service. You don't ever see this level of service in NYC, let alone at the Post Office! read more

Just so everyone knows, the number listed for this post office is incorrect. And as overrun and understaffed as this post office is, everyone I've ever worked with there has been very helpful. Pretty easily one of the worst post offices in the country. This post office fails on every level. The carriers out of this place often don't leave slips if you aren't home and even worse, often don't even attempt to deliver larger packages. The staff here (minus one nice woman) is all completely incompetent and disrespectful. I have been in this neighborhood for 6 years and I have an issue with almost half of the packages that move through this office. The most recent interaction that prompted this review was when a package was (maybe) attempted to be delivered while I was at work and I got an email asking if I wanted to get it redelivered, sent somewhere else, or pick it up. I chose to pick it up and the form said it would be ready for pickup by Tuesday afternoon. When I arrive Wednesday morning and after they slowly rooted around in the back for 20 minutes, they rudely tell me it isn't there and I should try later. I asked them to check the tracking to see where it actually was and they wouldn't do so. When I tried to say that the website said it was supposed to be here by Tuesday, she kept interrupting me and saying that I wasn't listening to her. If I had any other option, I would never use this post office again. read more

Terrible rude customer service. I have had a PO box at this location for 20 years and on numerous occasions they have forgotten to put a card in the mailbox when a package is delivered. The worst service! My package was not delivered because it required a signature, the delivery person left a note to pick it up at the local location. I came in the first thing in the morning and guess what - the package is not there! They do not know when it will arrive at the location so I have to wait till 11 am to get an idea where it is. WTF? Everyone has full-time jobs and cannot take time off just to pick a package. I do hope that USPS goes out of business soon so it is not even an option for retailers to use them. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will NEVER return here. I brought my own tape and automatically the two women behind the counter start SCREAMING at me that I am not using the right tape. I ask them if they have the correct tape and they show me where it is. THEN they start SCREAMING at me that I am scamming them because I picked up an express box. I am not a USPS regular- this was not intentional and NOT how you treat a customer. I grabbed the correct box and taped up my packages. I leave the store and the woman comes out SCREAMING that I have to pay for the tape I used from them. I was not aware that you had to PAY FOR THE TAPE even when I brought my own. I didn't bring cash because my package was supposed to ship for free. They kept screaming at me that I am a scammer and that all of my wrong doings were intentional. Can't speak to this place during regular hours. But I'm so grateful for its 24 hour automated kiosk that provides an option for us night owls to get stuff done. And they don't even require a credit card to get it! Sure you can get a sketchy or obnoxious crowd nearby at certain hours - but with it for the late-night convenience. read more

This is a comment to both Church St. and Murray Hill USPS. I went to Church St. post office in the morning and asked about the fastest way for an International package. They told me the fastest will be EMS and charge 70+ dollar for about 2bl and supposed to arrive in 3-5 business days, but NOT guaranteed. I noticed on the cashier screen, there is a faster 1-3 business days service, the so called "Global Express Guaranteed", cost over 100 dollar. When I said I would use the GEG, they handed me forms and reminds me again and again to fill it really carefully so that I don't cause any loss. But never mentioned anything about box or tape. Later, after checking with my friend making sure they won't mind the expenditure, I went to the Murray Hill post office. They first asked me to buy a box specialized for GEG, the exactly same size and shaped priority express box were declared not usable, and then asked me to buy the tape, because the paid box were not designed as self-sealable as the free priority box. After I paid these 6+ dollar, they typed in my form in the computer and tell me the estimated arrival date will be 7 business day or say 9 days later, which is absolutely far from the so-called "global express guaranteed 1-3 business day". I just wished that USPS tried to focus on the needs of customer, but not how to sell the box and tape. When I decided to use the very expensive way of delivery, it's obvious that it is time constricted. I told them from the very beginning, I need the 1-3 days service, if it is absolutely not possible, or maybe not possible, they could try to check before asking me to pay for the box and the tape. The GEG, if you can't make 1-3 day possible, don't promise or say so. And I really can't understand, if I'm paying over 100 bucks for the package, why can't the post office be more generous on the tape. So, be very careful, always bring box and tape by yourself if you are not 200% sure about your package. And there is ABSOLUTELY NO international express service, unless maybe you live near the boarder. The reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 is that my past experiences here were not so frustrating, but not very pleasant either, always long line, unclear information, and unfriendly staff. read more

This is one of the better post offices I've been to. When things work, it's great. When they don't--you're screwed. Also, don't tell your patrons, when there are 40+ people in line at the post office and the machine is broken, that you can't open another register because you "don't have enough staff." Also, don't tell a elderly woman "We aren't going to open another register just because you asked." We aren't idiots. We've been here before, we've seen you work, sir. You're lazy. We know that you work the registers often. Just because today you decided that you want to stand around, ask people if they "have the right forms," and chat up other employees, doesn't mean we should be taken for fools or believe anything you say. Let's keep it real: going to the post office in this crowded and angry city is like walking down a block in the middle of summer on garbage day. It was pouring and I had no umbrella and was literally drenched. I schlepped twelve blocks in the freezing rain to mail something certified by the deadline. The line was short and the counter woman was polite and friendly. I would almost say warm in comparison to the mean idiots at grand central. If my mail gets there on time I won't have any complaints. All these other haters are gonna hate. But in comparison to the other post offices (and I have lived in Hells Kitchen, Brooklyn, and the Upper East Side) this one is better than average. read more

I almost want to keep this place a secret, but for my 100th review, I'll add this long deserving business Ive been coming to for the past two years because it gets a full 5 stars from me. Service is excellent, lines are short, the staff is funny and friendly, and they have always been helpful to me and get me in and out without a hitch. Ive seen some disgruntled, rude, and nasty people walk into this place, so I can imagine how many more nutcases this post office sees. One thing is certain though, They had like 6 clerks on the job and i was in and out of there in like 3 minutes. Good job guys. read more

The people here must truly hate their lives. I have yet to have a pleasant experience here. No one wants to be helpful and they all sit their on their phones and act like you're doing them a disservice by asking them to do their jobs. I was scoffed at for asking for tape and when they didn't have scissors they handed me a pen and asked me to figure it out. Awful awful customer service. Thank Congress for keeping USPS open on Saturday. 34th Street local depot is small, clean, and offers a full range of services, including PO Boxes. Terrible Service! I was sent a package and they first lost it THEN after I complained to the higher ups, the woman supervisor named Ms. (LAZY BUTT) Anderson calls me and states the package was damaged. The address was so clear and I do not know how they could lose my package. These USPS people are OVER PAID and UNDER WORKED...just look at the GIRTH around their bellies as proof. Amazon logistics is WAY BETTER workers than USPS and they get their job done good and are underpaid and get paid less than these middle aged knuckleheads that work for the post office. Well I've never stepped in here, but here IS what I've experienced: This all started recently so it could be employees (06/28/2012) A. An extremely rude woman named Miss. Bosley who proceeded to call me an idiot on things that were not related to the tracking number in question. When she realized she was wrong, she got even angrier. She then proceeded to yell "CALM DOWN SIR!" in an attempt to make a scene and make me embarrassed and leave, despite me speaking in a level tone. It was very confusing. B. They ignored a request to redeliver a package... even with an email confirmation to redeliver a package that was confirmed stored at this location. This was after they said they tried to deliver it and that they left a slip, which was confirmed false through camera feed (the footage showed they never came) and a lack of slip in the mailbox. I'm assuming this is something that's called fraudulent, but it doesn't matter since USPS is untouchable. I'm thinking it might be, based off the other reviews, not too wise to send out packages from here. But their customer service sucks butthole, and it's obvious there's (at least starting recently) incompetency in the delivering and sorting department. read more

I am rarely moved to review a government agency of any kind, since most of the time it is at best a neutral event and the object is to get in and get out, anxiety-free, dignity intact. However, my experience at this post office was very positive, in fact, excellent. I don't live in NYC so the crew here did not know me. Nonetheless, they greeted me warmly, instantaneously were able to help me and carried on an affable conversation with me. When I sheepishly returned having forgotten to buy stamps, they gave me a friendly razzing and again immediately helped me out. They all seemed to be happy in what they were doing and genuinely happy to help out, and displayed a high sense of camaraderie. I hope that management recognizes this in some meaningful way. read more

I ordered a gift for Valentine. 02/06: When tracked it I realized that they attempted to deliver it after y business was closed and they would deliver it on the following day. Fair enough. 02/07: the system said my parcel could not be delivered because "undeliverable as addressed" 02/09: The Murray Hill (NYC) post office gave me a number to call to re-arrange delivery. I tried, they told me they would look into it and call me back. They did not. 02/10: I called again and they basically told me the same thing. 02/12: I called again and they told me to call back on the following day. 02/13: I called again and they told me they would look into it and call me back. They did not. 02/15: I called back and a rude lady didn't want to hear about my explanations and told me that if it was non deliverable then it was automatically sent back to the sender. So it was qualified as "undeliverable as addressed" on 02/07 and almost 10 days later nobody is able to tell me where my parcel is. The sender told me they haven't received any notification for a returned package, there is no return shipment listed on the tracking. You know what is the most frustrating? It is the fact that actually there was nothing wrong with the address, they told me on the phone that they send a replacement person that day, that just did not know how to find this address!!! read more

Post offices in general are underfunded and understaffed, so I understand the issues that many USPS locations have, but this was the worst experience I've ever had at a post office, and that's saying something. I run a small retail business and ship many packages through a small number of post offices regularly, this being one of them. I come in at least three times a week, and while the service is never friendly or even accommodating, my standards are not that high. I can now say that even though it will inconvenience me to some degree, I will never use this location again out of principle. I came in last week to deliver a package like I do almost 2-3 times a week out of this location, and was not treated with even a modicum of respect. I usually head straight for the side counter and not the regular shipping line, as all my packages are prepaid. The staff usually scans the item and prints a receipt from the portable scanner and I'm out of there. However, this time, this was not the case. I approached the side table to drop off my package, stating it was prepaid and that I just needed a receipt, and was immediately given a death stare like I had just taken a piss in her breakfast cereal. After a few uncomfortable moments, she pointed behind me without a word. Not understanding, I asked her what she was pointing at, and she immediately yelled that I was not special and that I should wait in line like everyone else and that they don't offer shortcuts. I then proceeded to calmly explain that this was routine for me to drop off a prepaid package and that the staff usually scans the item and prints a receipt. She then yells "What part of wait in line did you not understand?" I told her again that the package was prepaid and all it needed was a scan, and she curtly replies "The thing's broke." Completely contradicting what she had just said. I wouldn't have minded waiting in line if she had just treated me like a human being and told me that the scanner was out of order in the first place and that I would have to use the regular desk, but apparently that's not a luxury that could be afforded me. I proceeded to wait on line for around fifteen minutes when another woman came out and announced that anyone with prepaid packages come to the side table. Are you kidding me? I leave the line to the side table and the second asks me if I need a receipt. I say yes. And she tells me to get back in line. Completely ridiculous. I leave without taking a receipt and the two women were clearly snickering behind me as I walk out the door. Horrible experience, I'm never coming back here. read more

It's been a month now since my undeliverable package still has not been delivered back to me. This was an urgent medical device that needed to be delivered to the doctors office, since I do not live in NYC, the doctors office said I could send it back via post office. I thought that was a great idea. WRONG. It was attempted to be delivered the next day, but was marked not deliverable. I called my doctors office and they said they didn't receive the package. I have been calling the post office, I was put on hold for 2 1/2 hours. Then I called back, they said to call at 4pm to talk to Felder. When asking for her they said she is on lunch. But whoever answered said my package is in the facility and should be sent back. Great. I waited a week. Now I am calling again, placed on hold for 20min. The girl who answered said "oh wow that's bad" before putting me on hold. I called back, a different girl answered and said to call back in an hour. This is the worst experience with the NYC postal service I have ever encounter. I read the comments below and cannot believe that other people have gone through the same experience. My doctor cannot read my results since my package is missing. This place should be reviewed by the state and re-evaluate their employees. read more

I am So Angry disappointed and I feel robbed and cheated .. Monday I sent a Priority overnight package from this post office to Stuart Florida the young lady who helped me assured me it would reach my family by 3pm Tuesday Well it's 2:42 pm Wendsday No package and I paid for priority over night!! This wasn't a gift it was something my family needed and it was an emergency ... ( why Else do overnight !)so. I called the " robot" service this morning. It sent me to a Cumtomer service specialist Cheryl Who was helpful to the extent she was able to be I gave her the tracking -# And she created a search which now a Supervisor has to take over ... That was at 8:40 this morning after 12 minutes of conversation. ...which was after a20 minute wait and lots of " We're sorry all customer service representatives are still busy ..." I did this against my better judgement. I'm sorry my instincts we correct. I know this is a huge post office. All the more reason to DO IT RIGHT ... I'm sorry if you are going to charge insultingly high rates at least perform to a standard. Gee ,Fed Ex and UPS get it right but Our postal service can't ? I waited on line a while I was shown a automatic machine. It couldn't do what I needed so I was shown to the Retail store. I waited while the young lady helping me finished a conversation with a jersey transit worker about the strike. Next she helped a co-worker who skipped the line. And finally the couple in front of me who had a huge chocolate Box and only wanted information. About sending it When she got to me all seemed ok. ... But it obviously wasn't. I am beyond dissatisfied in furious. And I was told well in 3-4 days we will finish out investigation and you can go to the branch and get your refund .... All I wanted was the service I paid for .. If I can't do something. For a client I say so .. This was a dismal Fail! read more

Despite the other review, I have not actually had the greatest of experiences here. They closed the post office that was in the Empire State Building, which essentially diverted half its customers here. This place is TINY. The APC is in the entrance vestibule, which is usually choked with a line for the machine. The line for counter service is generally also long, and packed. Maybe I've tended to come here at the wrong times of day - usually 2pm-ish or so. read more

1- No one picks up the phone - don't bother to call. 2 - If you decide to log an issue at the main post office number (as you cannot get through to this number) expect to wait up to 1hr to get through to someone. I waited a total of 5hours over 4 days to track 3 packages that were not updated in the system, "out for delivery" requested for re-delivery- none of them ever arrived, despite being informed that the system was updated internally to re-deliver. 3- When someone from this office deems you worthy to be called back (if you log an issue at the main number)- they leave a short message with no reference number and when you call back noone answers. As mentioned above I had 3 deliveries not show up - so no idea which one the message related to. 4- This office tried to deliver to a business "after hours", even though the person on the main USPS number thought that was strange as they said its obvious this is a business. This item was then listed as at the pick up point for 2 weeks, even though I spoke to 2 people who informed me that my requests were in the system for re-delivery, finally I was told its probably lost, get the sender to make a claim. 5- The other "missing" item showed in the system as having been handed from UPS to USPS, but from there, there were no updates in the system as to where the package was. After 1 week of no success, the company I purchased the goods from sent a replacement, that was also not delivered- despite me calling the main number and being told it was out for delivery. I was later informed that the first item was sent back to the original sender- though they could not explain why, as for the replacement item - no idea, noone ever called back. Thankfully the companies i purchased the goods from kindly provided a refund and the main USPS number said they would launch an investigation for why this Post office is unable to deliver packages to me,(Post office investigating the Post office-hmmmmm, won't hold my breath) . Btw - I have had 8 other packages successfully delivered within that same period, by UPS, FEDEX, DHL and from England- go figure. read more

This place is so horrible that I made an account just to post this review. I signed a pink slip letting USPS know that they can just leave my package by my mailbox. No response for a week. I get another pink slip telling me that I have to go pick up the package. Not an easy task, since their work hours coincide with mine. I decide to call and ask for it to be delivered. I am asked to hold. I hold for 20 minutes before I am hung up on. I call again to a curt apology and wait another 10 minutes before someone actually answers. He says he needs to find my package, and says he'll call me back. Of course, he doesn't. I call again, and this time the agent promises that I will receive a call back. Doesn't happen again. I'm done with this place. I don't even want my package anymore. No idea where these 5 stars are coming from, but my experience has been terrible. read more

One of the worst location. I've done too much buisness with usps and its disspointing on the range of service. The day is 6/22/16 at 11:40 a man, supivisor, Lisa and another work. I wish I got the name of the other 3 staffs because Lisa was not staff but I only got her name. I stood there needing service on recommendation on box size no one helped me. I can not believe that I give a post office a four-star. I have read people's review and i think everybody's experience is time dependent. I went here before Christmas and it was packed. The staffs were very kind and helpful for my package shipment. The line is long during lunch hours but moved quickly, about 30 sec a person. This place is always busy, busy, busy. If i go at 9am, its busy, if I go at 2pm, its busy. It drives me craaaazzzzzzy. I have considered using the machine, but there is always a line for that also. I don't have a spare 30 minutes to waste wating in line at the post office....Its time to EXPAND US Post Office!!!!! This is probably one of the better Post Offices if you go there in person, if you call them up the same cannot be said. However focusing on the good the lines go relatively quickly as there are usually several clerks working who keep things moving. Also parcel pick up when that section is open is very easy and pretty quick. Of course with Post Offices your experience will differ depending on what time you go there but overall I would chose this over the 23rd street location which often operates in slow motion with usually only two clerks. read more
