If you live in a non-doorman apartment in NYC, you will find yourself at a post office. This place would be a hell hole, with 2 of the 10 windows open at any given time and a line out the door at lunch except for two things: If you don't fear tech the automated post box is a wonder and never has a line. There is a wonderful hispanic woman, who you know gets all kind of abuse, who does whatever she can to expedite matters. i dont see much of a difference now and before when visiting a post office but now the lines are much shorter and the clerks seem to be a bit more civil which is why i tend to use the self service kiosk machine. stopped by on a tuesday morning to ship a few boxes of goodies to my friends in lovely chicago (non shooting area ) and i was in and out in less then 5 minutes and its wise to have the boxes sealed and labels on box for a easy smooth transaction . the self service machines are easy to use and its only plastic as machiines dont take cash . glad i dont have to deal with a postal clerk as much now and i assume they feel the same way .In the hell's kitchen section of Manhattan (42nd St) read more

The wonderful people who work at the Times Square Station Post Office are perhaps the best postal workers I've encountered in a long time. I had the pleasure of speaking to incredibly helpful and good-humored workers on the phone, as well as at the window. this is one of those places that warrants a zero star review. My mail says it was delivered, but it wasnt. Turns out it went to the wrong apartment (one that doesn't even exist, so god knows where it is). I called this place twice and both times was put on hold for over 20 minutes, then hung up on. BOTH TIMES. The first time I gave them my tracking number and made one mistake, and was consequently YELLED at for it. Decided to go in myself since customer service for USPS told me it might be there, and they told me to "trust them" that it had been delivered to the address written. I've used this post office for 28 years and found them nothing but pleasant, courteous and smart... especially Diana the current "expediter" -- she is terrific... Yes, it is hard to get them on the phone... I've been to other post offices in the area and they are sullen, rude, even slower, and not very helpful... BUT now all of a sudden this P.O. (Maybe others) is not putting package notifications in the apartment building mailboxes. This is a disastrous decision. Everyone should write letters complaining about this. This is seriously the shittiest post office with the lousiest workers in the world. I don't receive packages all the time and they tell me they left a notice, and they don't. Best part is, I was home and they didn't even bother ringing the doorbell, or half the time the management office is open to receive packages. Wow... what's happened USPS? Your service has become so completely unreliable and continues to disappoint me. My local branch is 42nd Street, Times Square NYC, so I hold them primarily responsible for my continual poor experiences, however, have had proven that the issues don't stop there. Aside from damaged packages (one actually made of heavy steel that arrived bent) I find quite often packages showing online as having had a delivery attempted while I've been sitting waiting for them all day. My apartment is right next to the building's front door so aside from being the first buzzer on the panel, I would literally be able to hear any problem a delivery person might have trying to gaining entrance... not to mention other delivery services never seem to have an issue. I understand that deliveries sometimes get delayed but don't tell me that on top of all you're other service issues, you've tried to deliver and were not able to... that's just deceptive. read more

So far all the employees I've encountered here are really friendly, which I think is rare for the post office. If I need to mail out something I come here during my lunch break, and I'm surprised that it's not really crowded. Waiting on line doesn't take too long. Whoever it is that answers the phone for this location is probably the least helpful, rudest, laziest, nastiest human being that USPS has working within their ranks. I have never hated anything in life as much as I hate this post office and their delivery service. Pros: the people behind the glass in the actual office are very nice. Cons: In the 11 months I have lived in this office's delivery route I have only received 3 packages out of over 100 without issue!!!!! My girlfriend and I online shop for almost all of our needs and have 1-3 packages in route almost every week. This post office NEVER delivers our packages on time and constantly lies about when they have "attempted" delivery. I work as a bartender and thus am home throughout the day time hours when post is delivered; constantly after being home all day I leave for work to find one of their satanic "pink slips" in the mailbox claiming that no one was home to receive the package......... I was home ALL DAY.... Today 6/8/15 they put a pink slip in our mailbox stating that they have had a package of ours since 5/23/15 (online tracking number claims this package was still 3 states away on the 23rd). This is the FIRST notice they have given us and this slip is dated as if they left it for us on 6/6/15!!!!!!!!! We check our mailbox every single day. There is no possible way they could have left it for us 2 days ago (online it said that delivery status was unknown since 5/25/15; it did not state that delivery was attempted at all). This is a blatant lie and is not the first, second, or third time this has happened. We have complained to the office multiple times, but if anything the delivery service has only gotten worse. The latest package that we had to trudge to the post office to pick up after "multiple failed delivery attempts" stated "does not require signature" directly on the box, and yet they were incapable of leaving the box in front of our door or in our mailroom. To top everything off I am currently on hold waiting for a representative to discuss the latest "failed delivery" and have now been waiting for a total of 73 minutes after being on hold with them a first time for 35min and then being disconnected only to now have to wait again. Who knows when I will ever get through. I'm sorry for the representative that answers my call. read more

There are no words that accurately describe the people that work here. When they answer the phone, they are rude and unhelpful. The USPS customer service office told me to speak to a supervisor when I called, but I could never get a response. When they take down your info, I assume it goes directly into the trash. I would give this post office more than a five if I could. I was a little afraid of going to the post office because you overhear rumors about the horrible long waits and bad customer services but when I tell you that I received the best customer service of my life; I'm 100 percent serious. I had to get my passport application processed because my father in law is ill and I needed to go to see him asap. But when I got there ; I was well received by the Supervisor Millie who was friendly, polite and she personally directed me to the passport line. After that I had the absolute pleasure of being helped by Evie Aponte- the clerk. Evie was amazing!!!! She took my passport pictures, processed my application and informed me about the whole passport process. I can not say enough how much of a pleasure she was. From beginning to end I felt like I was in a great hand and recieved amazing customer service. I'm coming here for all my postal needs. I'm really thankful for all the help that I received and I can not say enough how much of a pleasure Eve was!!! AMAZING SERVICE hand down. I read all the negative reviews and I agree with the phone never being answered issue. Since my office is close to the PO, I could easily make the trip but I understand that's not an option for everyone. However, when I went to the PO to find my package (which seemed to be lost in general, neither FedEx, nor the shipper had a response for me), the woman at the Inquiries window was super helpful. She told me how it all works and asked me to print a label at a kiosk with a tracking number (starts with 9). I realized the package was delivered as I was speaking to the lady. So, overall, not so great if you try calling, but A-OK if you go in person. I didn't experience the long lines but maybe that's because I went during off-peak hours on a holiday. The absolute worst service I've ever encountered in any line of business. They were unable/unwilling to assist me with an error they've made with my change of address form. Now my business is unable to receive our mail. I was told to call "Mr. O'Neill" who is the station supervisor at 212-502-0447, however not surprisingly no one answers that number after 30 minutes of letting the phone ring and there's no option ability to even leave a message (not that they'd call you back). A package of mine did not get delivered. I tried calling the post office at least 30 times (they underestimate how much free time I have at work) and got no answer. I managed to get the direct phone number a couple days later and someone picked up on the second ring! He was so pleasant and helpful; he found my package, corrected the address (the horrible seller didn't include vital information in the address), and handed it off to the carrier while I was on the phone. More fumbles than Sunday Night Football These clowns "attempted" to deliver some important Certified Mail to me this February. Unknown to me the last and final attempt pink slip was left AFTER THE FACT. Important letters were returned to the sender, and after much anguish I felt that they fumble the ball MOST of the time. Just go with UPS or FedEX the PO sucks more often than not. These mail carriers will go thru hoops to NOT deliver packages or don't bother trying to communicate with their customers on their daily rounds. Those pink slips... put fear into my heart. read more

Agree that this station is understaffed and over-worked, but over the 25 years I've had a PO Box, some employees have really gone the extra mile for me. Not to say all are lovely, but the ones who are not helpful and friendly are the exception and not the rule. The worst post office on NY. I didn't receive a package because the USPS Web site said "business closed." Well, it isn't a business, it is an apartment house with a 24-hour doorman. When I told the Ass't. Mgr. this, she said that the concierge doesn't accept packages after 4. I told her that is not true, and that the "attempted delivery" was at 10:15am. She then said the post office was closing at 1. When I said that is ridiculous, she hung up on me. Have you ever heard of a post office closing for inclement weather? I haven't. WORDS CANNOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW HORRIBLE THEY ARE!!! Not only have they lost several of my packages and important letters that was sent via certified mail, my mail and packages are constantly being returned to senders and forwarded for no reason. Called them to address this issue, employee couldn't help, supervisor put me on hold for over 45 mins (I had to hang up because she was wasting my time). I hate the post office in general. Truly. But, I live in Upper Manhattan and make it a point to go to the Hell's Kitchen post office if I need to mail packages. The workers are friendly, helpful, and quick. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes on line (and that's a miracle). I recommend going to this location to anyone in NYC. read more
