This is the worst post office i have ever been to in my life. They are slow disrespectful and rude!!!!!! I will never go here again.

What can I say about posts offices. This location, like many others, has employees that work extremely slow and are not extremely nice. Plenty of windows but very few people actually at the windows. I come here often and I deal with whatever I have to; to get the service I need. Boxes are available t no charge in the main service area. read more

I am disgusted with how I was treated at this location. I waited in line for 40 minutes to renew my passport. Finally at the passport window, the one and only worker told me sorry your on the wrong line for renewal go to the other line (also another 40 minutes long). I explained that I am pregnant and it's hard for me to stand in line all this time, since I was waiting I would like for someone to please help me. I moved over to the next counter and asked if the next worker could please see me since I waited all this time. She started screaming at me how I made a mistake and they do not have to accommodate me. Finally after she was done screaming she agreed to make an a money order for my passport and threw it at me. Would not answer any of my questions and would not further help me complete my passport renewal processes. Ultimately I left and now have to do this all over again. Overall staff is rude, not efficient, no regard to clients and take advantage of knowing we need them. read more

This post office, what could I say about it... Hmm. First off the customer service is terrible, the whole staff should be retrained. Seconds there no wheelchair access into the post office. Found myself helping a elder lady up the stair which didn't bother me but If I was not there. Third but not least, the whole rope line thing in the office is confusing, had to walk up to people and ask which line is which and nobody knew. The facilities at this post office appear to be completely adequate - it's the lines that are very slow. They have several windows and often only two people manning them. I try to avoid coming here and use the Bryant Park P.O. which has knowledgeable staff that gets the job done. read more

We are not getting our mail for the third day in a row. Everytime our mail carrier is out we simply get 0 mail. How can a business survive without mail. Worst service ever. There's a post by Mary W. with a photo of the SAME exact woman that gave me such a hard time for nothing. I never write reviews no matter how bad the service but this was just disgusting. Created an account JUST to write this review. I went to the post office to purchase an international money order in Canadian dollars. I needed an equivalent of 260 $CAN in USD and kindly asked with a polite smile (which I make a point of doing as I waited tables for a long time and understand the difference it could make to any workers) It came out to a total of 264 and change in USD which I found very strange as the conversion rate calls for the amount in USD to come out significantly lower so I had asked for a confirmation to which she responded with the most ill expression, an eyeroll and with an extremely rude, "Well, yes, that's what I put." Okay - I didn't take it much to heart. She could've been having a bad morning. So I proceeded with paying via debit. It was rejected. Again, that evil glare and eyeroll. She said "Rejected." So I proceeded with paying in cash. The total came out to 264 and change and gave her 3 hundred dollar bills which I brought out just in case. The change should have been just 35 and change and she said, "NO, I DON'T HAVE CHANGE FOR THAT" "Really? It's just 35 and change" "I said NO, do we look like a bank?" "It's just 35 dollars and change." "Well, 3 hundred dollars may be little to you but we're not a bank" ???? Really? That's when the the switch turned and I said "You really could've been more polite about it" and she really had the nerve to insist that she was. Just left. VERY disgusting person. read more

I'm going to give a big shout out and THANK YOU to the supervisor at this branch. We accidentally put a UPS pre-paid return into the post office mailbox outside this branch on Sunday night. I went first thing Monday morning to see if they could help us retrieve it (it was a formal dress rental that had a HUGE daily late fee) from the box. I was expecting a lot of red tape, attitude and I didn't hold out a lot of hope that they would be able to find it for us and give it back. Instead the woman was extremely helpful, found it for us, gave it back and I was on my way in about 15 minutes, ran into the UPS guy on the street, handed it to him and my package was off and on it's way with no late fee!!! Thank you to the supervisor there for turning what could have been a disaster into a pleasant surprise. read more

going to the post office is not a pleasant thing to do, it never is but sometimes has to be done. place is depressing with lazy,rude, postal workers. who owns the po is it the goverment or a private company very strange. the lines would be so crazy long, the tempers would flare all the time. there is no leadership, supervisors come and go all the time, no stability. automated machines are the way to go, but you must use debit or credit card, but some services, you must deal with the window clerk monsters. listen its no secret the postal office is in bad shape, more folks are going online to take care of their postal needs. a new system which i think is a good move is that now each window has its own line ,so you can pick and choose which line to go to, a lot of more improvement is needed for the usps to survive, but personal i think its to late . so unless you really have to go to the post office, try doing your postal needs online. p.s it once took a postal worker. 30 minutes to open her window, she kept adjusting her watch band(i kid you not) also do you notice when a postal worker has to get something for a customer away from. his or her desk, they move slower than a snail. now i will end with a joke, what do you get when you have a 100 postal workers and 100 lesbians. 200 folks who dont do dick . read more

Horrendously nasty staff. There is clearly something going with management supporting workers in being cruel and rude to customers. I have twice had horrible, horrible experiences while trying to take care of post business with an Autistic child in tow. A few weeks back, I needed to get our passports in order. When I mentioned to the woman at the passport desk that my child was Autistic and not feeling well so that she would be advised of why my child was being a bit unusual, the woman began a tirade about how she didn't have to make accommodations for us and then said under her breath, "I think I'm not going to serve you." And for good measure, she added admonitions that I shouldn't bother to look for her supervisor because her supervisor would agree with her and tell me the same. She threw me out of her line with paperwork and was so nasty I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be filling it out or trying to find another post office with my sick, Autistic kid in tow. The previous day, I'd stood on the line for the passports for 25 minutes with same child in tow and a man working at the post office came by and asked what we were there for and checked my paperwork, but waiting until another customer (basically a supermodel) came up to mention that the camera wasn't working. I don't know if you've ever stood on line for 25 minutes with an Autistic kid -- but yeah it would have been nice to be told the camera wasn't working. The postal worker that day sent to a Kinkos which turned out to be a in a Fed Ex building (and therefore difficult to locate) for the pictures. So there we were back, with me banished from the line with a kid who needed to not be there. I did my best to fill out the additional forms the woman had given me and because she didn't want to deal with me, I had to start the line all over again, much longer than it was when we first came in. She then insisted on speaking at length with my sick, Autistic kid at length. I didn't want her anywhere near my kid. She was speaking in a "friendly" way, but also demonstrating that she could speak nicely to my kid, after tearing me down. Did i mention I was crying by then from the frustration of having a sick kid and being raked over the coals by this nasty piece of work? So now she was nice, now that she'd created an hour of hell for my family, and now that the incompetent guy the day before only mentioned to super models that the camera doesn't work and leaves gray haired ladies like me stuck on line for 25 minutes for no reason whatsoever. She takes absolutely forever insisting that my child chat with her. Meanwhile, my kid needs to get home, needs food and is more stressed than this woman understands by her demands for conversation. As we are finally leaving, the woman trails me down the length of the windows to advise me -- get this -- to stay calm. I'm thinking maybe if you want mothers with Autistic kids to stay calm, you might provide decent service, not harass us and not threaten to refuse service when you are made aware of a child's Autism. Just a thought. I say nothing because she's still holding our applications and I wouldn't put it past her to shred them. And the kicker? She had the wrong form for my child and my child's passport application got bounced back to me via the State Dept. Outside of the trips to this location for the passport renewal, I experience similar harassment when trying to mail something via this location perhaps a year prior. Really, really nasty and threats to not serve as retaliation for some non-offense the worker decided to capitalize on. Seriously, I don't know what is wrong with these people. Is this where they send all the postal workers who have gone postal and are no longer fit for service? Or is it some kind of portal to Hell? Unclear. On that occasion a year or so prior, the postal worker simply walked away from her station and refused to come back. And there I stood, trying to juggle my Autistic kid and international shipping paperwork I didn't understand. Try it sometime. Lots of fun. So, two trips to this Hell hole and both times we encountered workers who clearly have nothing better to do than harass their clients. It is hard to imagine them not high fiving one another for new lows of discourtesy to customers. My child is eight. We moved to Midtown coming up on two years ago. For the first six years of my child's life, we went to the post office on 113th Street, where we never, ever had a problem. Just the opposite. The workers were always extremely kind to my child, efficient, polite, helpful and good at there jobs. One woman even took my child to the back to see what is behind the PO boxes once. It's not that going to a post office with an Autistic child is easy. Autism isn't easy. And post offices are tough for us. But the location on 38th Street goes out of their way to be hurtful. And the nasty behavior is clearly management condoned. USPS, if you are reading, please clean house. read more

Zero stars isn't possible, so must give a one star. Constantly try to deliver packages to a business across the street from them at 7PM. Lady downstairs is beyond rude, but that's probably because she takes no responsibility for anything happening there. It's like talking to an automated phone service and getting no answers.Then they tell me to wait on the loading dock where no one will talk to me. This place is beyond disorganized. 7 packages lost this holiday season, have spent over 8 hours going and waiting for them to track them down... Tracking number says they are there, they go look, come back an hour later, and say, sorry, Can't find it.. That's it. No follow up, No manager on site. No notices get left. This post office is a nightmare... I've lived here 16 years, and it's always been a nightmare... Everyone is right. This office is no different than the majority of USPS locations that house the lazy staff members titled USPS Postal Workers. I will say this, that attitude of superiority many of you have found in the USPS staff that are unable to articulate what they want to get across in a way that can be understood by the average English speaking person (and I don't mean because English is their second language) goes both ways. Find out who the person is that supervises that post office, and write them a letter requesting a response on what is being done to correct the issue (eg: horrible, rude customer service workers = additional training/letter of counsel in their worker file, etc). I don't mean the supervisor of that particular office, but the person who oversees that office/supervisor. Also, don't forget to CC the letter to the higher chain of command at the main post office (it can be more than one person, cc them all the way to the top). Those same rude, lazy workers eventually rise to the top (lets face it, when every one is under qualified for the position, someone is qualified) and when they do, they turn that same nasty behavior on to the workers that behaved exactly like them when they were at the bottom. The USPS has a history of treating their employees like crap and the employee flipping out, this is where the term going postal comes from. Seems the USPS has been hiring the same type of workers for years (not too bright and lazy, not all but most from my experiences). They have the best benefits in the federal gov't (look it up they don't get the same benefits as other federal workers, theirs are much better) yet give the worst service. This is why they're broke EVERY YEAR, year after year, with your tax dollars bailing them out. Don't just Yelp it, let their chain of command know! read more

I have lived in several countries and regions, had never seen a post office with such a low efficiency and such a bad customer service! The worst post office. If you can just avoid it. Can not be reached by phone. They don't picked up the phone or they hung up the phone in the middle of conversation before you even asked what do you need. They don't delivery your packages and keeping explaining that they don't have access to your building, even you have the intercom buzzer system in your building. Supervisor is very unprofessional and rude. Doesn't wanna talked with customers or on purpose hung up the phone during the conversation. The worst experience is this post office. They didn't delivery my 4 packages and even I requested redilivery they didn't do it. When I came to the post office they couldn't find my packages. Sheesh. Going to the post office in NYC is never a speedy experience and this location is no exception. I've been here at 3pm and at 6pm on weekdays. The line was just as long both times and there were more people working the windows at 3pm than the day I went in the evening. The line builds and builds because only two or three of the windows are open at any given time. A woman comes around to answer any questions and speed up the process as you wait in line. The employees are all pleasant enough, but you need to set aside a good chunk of time to come here and wait in line, because that will be happening for quit a while. Very unprofessional and rude people. It seems the people working in this branch are not happy with their jobs. One time one of the employees yelled at me even without me asking my question yet. She wouldn't do anything because their system was down that time. I've seen these people yell at customers several times and that is just very rude. This branch has the wort customer service! This location has no singe, so ask questions or expect to wait a very long time in multiple lines. Most attendants seem nice they have annoyed people talking to them all day so i tend to give them a break if they aren't the friendliest. However they do have an EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful supervisor. I can say this with confidence after dealing with him 3 times re the same issue where the first was a complete dismissal and telling me to go to another line with no avail after being sent to him by an employee who was understanding of the issue. I was also told i would be contacted by said supervisor about the same issue .He finally found the package 2 weeks later on my THIRD visit and decided to accost me for the companies mistake and literally shout at me about it. If you are rude people will be rude back. I was being polite until he decided to be evidently rude to the point where people in the line felt uncomfortable and said something. As the supervisor i find him very unprofessional, the only thing he was short of was an expletive. Ill be addressing my mail to friends in other postal codes from now on. I wish I could give negative stars. The service here was terrible. My company ships through this post office and I needed to pick up a package urgently. The post office claimed that they could not give my package to me because they could only give it to the mailroom. The mailroom told me this was completely false. I asked to speak to a manager, and was given the most rude woman I have ever dealt with. She refused to go get my package or to even check if it was there. When I asked for her name so I could complain to upper management, she simply told me her name was "Rib." This was the worst service I have ever encountered in my entire life. This is the post office near my office. Compared to the one in the neighborhood where I live I would give this 5 stars. It gets 4 stars for a post office and would maybe get 3 if it was any other type of business. Depending on the day there can be a 0 min wait or a 30 min wait. It has 2 automated machines and someone walking around to assist customers so you needn't wait on line just to ask a question. I have never once wanted to reach through the glass and strangle a worker here. In fact they are a reasonably friendly/courteous much unlike the Audubon location. An additional plus they actually deliver packages. Again, I will take this opportunity to bring up the Audubon location in WaHi and give it 0 stars. read more

You would think USPS would PREPARE for the holidays and get their shit together.. The excuse "we are unstaffed, I cannot help you, come back later" is getting really effing old. I called in to find a package that wasn't delivered to my office when I get multiple packages a day. I read my tracking number, put on hold, woman came back asking for my name and I quote, "I'm not sure which name it's under ____ " I started to spell is & the woman flipped out - she told me she didn't have to go looking for my package and I didn't need to be giving her an attitude! I literally took a breath inbetween spelling - I work in customer service and I'm on the phones all day long, I know what an attitude over the phone sounds like! Wonder why people don't use USPS. My experience today at this post office was indeed the best experience ever! The woman who helped me with my transaction was very nice, helpful and very responsive to my needs. I needed to send a package over seas and she was a delight. Her name was Nancy and while I was holding up the line with my million questions she was very patient and responsive. I really appreciate her assistance and kind words. I wanted to speak to her supervisor Valerie and she too was a delight and amazing !!! The clerks in this post office are both rude and unprofessional. Not only do they lack a sense of urgency when faced with a long line, they constantly walk away in the middle of transactions, further causing delays. Ugh, I wish I avoided this place today. Where is the help around here? I came in to send out a prepaid package (which means I don't have to wait in line) and I was unsure of where to go as there are no signs indicating. I asked a gentlemen behind the counter where can I go to take my packages. He said in the box behind that wall. So I head to the box and man sending out an envelop tells me the machine appeared to be broke as it was not opening. I then went back to the gentleman behind the counter to tell him the machine was broke so he tells me to head over to window 1. I head over to window 1 and no one is there! So I head back to the gentleman behind the counter and he tells me head to window 5 and wait as he was helping another customer with his passport. So I head over to window 5 but as I walked over hear the gentleman behind the counter laughing at my stress. Annoyed at window 5 with yet again no help, I decide to go wait in line. It was there that someone steps out (perhaps, just in time) looks at my packages and says "are those paid for?" I said YES and he takes my packages in hand. UGH! Why was a simple task so difficult at this USPS? I will never come here again! Incompetent workers! read more

This is literally the worst post office I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I called the post office with a simple question about a package that I was tracking that had for some reason left my zipcode and returned to their facility after it had been out for delivery. The lady I was put on the phone with was decently calm for the first minute and then all of sudden interrupted me and started yelling, saying how if I understood then I shouldn't be asking her questions but all she had done so far was relay to me what I already knew and had not helped me in anyway whatsoever. As I tried to tell her that I understood what she was saying, because I had already read it on the tracking website, she proceeded, still yelling, to tell me to stop wasting her time and hung up the phone. I called back a second time a couple of minutes after, in shock because what happened to professionalism and proper customer service, hoping to get a different employee and was annoyingly greeted by the same voice. I immediately asked for a different representative stating that upon my last call she had been rude and uncooperative and she responded by once again yelling that they were very busy and didn't I have anything to do and to stop calling, and yes obviously I have things to do which is why I'm trying to figure out this situation as quickly as possible thank you very much, and then hung up on me a second time. If there was an option for negative stars that's exactly what this review would be giving them. So moral of the story, if you call and a Spanish women picks up hang up the phone because it's only going to bring you a bucket load of aggravation. In my opinion and based off the other in store reviews I have read, this post office should just be closed down seeing as how its not the only one in Manhattan and therefore not at all necessary. read more
