An absolute joke. I've been to post offices all around, some good, and some really bad. If I say a post office is bad, it's bad. This one is bad. Take a look at the front door. It says that the lobby is open at 7am. Well that seems to just be a suggested open time for the employees of this fine establishment because you're basically rolling the dice if you come here any time before 11am. Imagine showing up here at around 8:30am, giant heavy package in hand, and the door is locked. And an employee is outside telling you to come back at 11am. That's this place. Good luck. read more

Worst post office ever. The front desk staff really are the rudest, unfriendliest lot. Please, please, go find another job and live a happier life. You all are killing us with your negativity. Pamela at the front desk truly was amazingly rude today to me. Wouldn't let me ask any questions, cut me off continuously, and told me several times that I wasn't listening to her. I don't know how she would even know if I was listening because she just couldn't keep her mouth shut long enough to hear if I was listening or not. She needs some serious anger management classes. Don't believe any of these positive reviews. Everyone goes into this post office mentally preparing to be the next victim of nasty behavior. The first time I came in was fine, and the clerk who helped me even offered some tape for my return package. This time I came in, however, was so traumatizing. Two different clerks made me cry so hard. Never coming back here again. I'd rather go farther to visit another location. The first one told me to stop handing him my letter that had a barcode he had to scan. The second clerk told me to stop talking, so she could "do her job." I submitted a formal complaint by calling the USPS number, and I encourage everyone else to do the same, so people stop getting treated so horribly for no reason. read more

If there is a post office location worse than this location, I would hate to see it. The tellers are officious but not rude. Don't bring mail here that you want to send. Bring mail here that you want to know why you can't send. I use the post office regularly for only a few types of mail services and never have any issues. In the year that I have been in this neighborhood I have only successfully mailed something from this location a handful of times, despite dozens of attempts. Sometimes I elect to pay twice just to mail the item. Would be nice if the window tellers here refocused their talents to helping customers mail things. read more

Very surprised with the low rating with this USPS location as I usually receive friendly service there. It's usually a 50/50 betting range when it comes to dealing with an USPS clerk, but this location has really changed my perspective on that. The staff is usually helpful and talks to you as if they are your aunt/uncle who you see on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. Now that can good or it can be bad depending on the situation you are in. Usually if you are polite and and respectful (and overlook occasional shouting in the office) you'll have a great experience here. I've come to really appreciate USPS during the pandemic for delivering my packages. They performed exceptionally especially during the March - April shutdown and I appreciate the staff that's still working during a difficult time. read more

Truth be told am 86 and walk with a cane. Confronted with a long line, I simply bypassed everybody. I thought the cane and my age gave me an excuse. Uh-uh. The place nearly blew up, rude insults, shouts, clerk offered to bring me a chair on line. I exited to a burst of abusive remarks. Advice: whatever you do, don't get old. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I walked in with a shipping label and asked the man working behind the counter if he could point me to the correct box that fits my shipping label. Normal interaction for a post office, right? Wrong. He proceeded to ask if I could read, and called me stupid. I immediately said "I'm not stupid, and I can read. But I am asking for your help, since it's your job." He then told me "Clearly you can't read. If you could, you wouldn't need my help." This continued on for about 5 minutes, while the lady working the other desk just stared (though she did seem embarrassed by his behavior but he was clearly a supervisor where she couldn't stop him.) He was berating me while there was a growing crowd behind, and I left the post office crying, without finding the correct box and shipping my package out. I have never been treated so poorly or called stupid by customer care. This man is a menace and should not be employed as a government worker. July 2nd 2022, Gentleman working was mansplaining everything about required mask wearing in NYC. I tried to explain that it us not required but he kept talking. He told me I had to wait in the lobby and I should read the 2 signs. The one sign said form a line but there was no one else there so I went inside. He told me to go outside and wait and then after I stood there for about 3 seconds called me back in. I have only had nice experiences with all the female workers on John Street. If you see the gentleman there just go to the larger post office nearby!! read more

I v rarely use the post office for sending packages. So I usually have to line up and ask a few questions but ev time, with different behind the counter staff, I get very abrupt answers telling me things obvious to them, but I don't know the exact procedures. You must appreciate that I do not work there so I don't know the obvious. Pretty unhappy, impatience staff, make me look dumb because I rarely go in there. read more

New dog owner here. I walked into the Self Service area with my pup thinking I could just drop off my packages on my dog's walk. Post office lady comes out and loudly says "MA'AM THERE ARE NO DOGS IN THE POST OFFICE" in a lobby full of people. I said "oh!" Lady says "WELL, WHAT?!!" Super rude. Could've said it nicely. I think she's got a complex where she needs to feel high and mighty. Silly behavior. I then said with arms full of packages," let me self serve and we'll be out of here." My little pup was so confused about the rudeness as well. Unnecessary. She makes this post office look bad by wanting to make other people feel bad. Be nice! New Peck Slip USPS (formerly located in the seaport). Clean. Well-stocked supplies. Self-service kiosks are available. Staff is friendly and extremely efficient. Best of all, there was NO line at noon on a Wednesday!!! 6 stars for no 12:00pm line. yay!! read more

A small post office in the Financial District nestled on John Street between Pearl and Cliff Streets. There is a small greeting card selection. There are post office boxes available for rent which is in a small room away from the stanchions of the queue. The post office boxes appears new and well maintain as compared to other larger location which are older. Queuing is organized and moves moderately to turtle slow infinity. Postal employees are insolent who debase when servicing customers "do you understand now the difference between express and priority overnight?!" Insolent! Many postal employees are holding a side bar off the job nonsense conversations amongst each other while servicing customers whom becomes unfocused and distracted by the conversation as my charge was duplicated for only one measly item. Of course, absolute no apologies, no remorse, no empathy, and no acknowledgement of their extreme gross error. To further showcase arrogance this thing of a postal clerk shrug his malice shoulders displaying a stolid and callous "I don't care!" visible attitude. Egregiously vulgar Maliciously and mendaciously flagrant Full of marlarkey Insolent Hubris The City Of New York be perilously punished by these postal employees' maltreatment and may God keep their puissance position as federal civil service servants. read more

Incredibly rude staff. I have been to this location a number of times, only because it is close to my office, but I am done with it. Staff are consistently rude and unhelpful. Today there were only three customers in the store, all were being treated as though they were an inconvenience to staff. The 'assistants' appear to take some sort of perverse enjoyment from making life as difficult as possible for customers to mail a letter. USPS needs to make customer service training a priority but given that most reviews for this location have highlighted for some time that there is a significant problem, clearly USPS cares just as little about its customers as the staff at the John St location. read more

This place was the local PO that was supposed to deliver my lease agreement and deposit to a landlord for my apartment. However, the tracking number said "could not access the address" which is strange given that it is an office building, the delivery was an envelope, and they are the post office. I called 50 times. FIFTY. They answered the phone ONCE. Their response was that they did deliver it, they just didn't scan it, and they wouldn't be able to update the tracking. No idea if it actually made it or not. I guess I have to take the word of the folks who don't answer their phone 98% of the time, and cross my fingers that I don't get evicted. read more

This location is smaller than the Postal office near WTC but the staff have always been extremely efficient and helpful at this location. The store is brightly lighted and clean. Depending on the day and time, I waited for only 10-15 mins on line. They set up a stand displaying cards (e.g., birthday, celebrations, etc) so you can pick out a card while you're waiting on line. I find this to be very strategic and useful. read more

I wish I could give this place a zero. The man working behind the counter harassed me to the point of tears. Called me stupid, told me I couldn't read and called me a plethora of names. He needs to be fired. I have never experienced such a thing. His coworkers sat there and allowed it to happen which was even more shocking. I genuinely thought I was being pranked as he continued to gaslight me and tell me I had an attitude and was disrespectful whilst I stood in shock, crying. Postal lady clerk refused to wait 3 seconds for me to stick the return receipt green card onto my letter and ordered me to step away from her counter so she could take the next customer. Really??? I had everything filled out! Why couldn't you be nice like the postal lady clerk next to you who stuck it on for the customers ahead of me. I was so pissed !!! Fortunately, I knew not to get back on the long line and just stood in front waiting for the next clerk. Unfortunately, I ended up with her again. She processed the transaction. Gave me the receipt with the same steely glare as before. One of the few times I didn't say "Thank you" after receiving a service. And, neither did she ! Unfriendly and nasty post office clerk left me with such a bad impression of this facility. Feel sorry for the clerks who have to work with her. As far as the courtesy and cleanliness of this place, I would give it 2 thumbs up. They need to make their self service machine working ASAP though, for those of us who just need stamps and drop mail off. I took about 30 mins of my lunch waiting on stamps to put on envelopes. read more

I am forced to come here often due to it being close to my office. There is always a line a mile long -- from the time they open to the time they close. There are never more than 2 people working at the stations (although there are 3-4 stations). They like to take their sweet time and talk to each other about their lunch instead of doing their job. Additionally, the one woman working the counter asks if anyone is picking up a package and lets them go ahead of everyone else who has been waiting in line for 30+ minutes. She does this because it makes her job "easier" so she says. Avoid at all costs unless you want to spend your lunch hour waiting and dealing with an incompetent staff. read more

Very nice on the inside, pretty new and modern. They are open until 4:00 PM on Saturday so that's what got me here. There was like NO line which was great, the associates were pretty helpful and nice, everything went smooth. Got denied service because I took a picture of my tracking number in front of the lady who is supposed to assist me. Granted the package was prepaid and just needed to be scanned. Previously was yelled by the associate here as well. Customer service could use some improvements. read more

I want to like this post-office because it has a lot of things that my neighborhood doesn't like a self-service and a separate window/door for pre-paid packages. However.. I came here because it's by my university and timing worked out better to come here today and I saw customers going to the teller to scan and get a receipt for their pre-paid packages, but another teller tells me that I have to go to a different window for prepaid packages (even though the customer next to me were getting them scanned right then and there. Then I am told my international package can't be scanned (even though the barcode works and my neighborhood USPS never had an issue scanning international packages and print out a receipt. It's a lot of inconsistencies here, and I'll take it as a learning experience. read more

Terrible service ruined my whole day's good mood!!! This morning I went to this Post Office location for package pick-up. Usually there is a window especially for pick-up. Customer has to ring the bell right next to the closed window, then the staff will open the window for giving parcel to customer. However, today it has no response after I ring the bell twice. Then I went to the line, a counter staff with black frizzy hair starts yelling at me, blamed that I did not read the sign properly, Bla Bla Bla... talking to me very rude and impatiently. Actually, I have been there for few times, some other staff really did a good job, never giving such nasty attitude. Today just out of luck...... read more

Horrific service!! The employees were basically taking turns yelling at the customers. An elderly woman was trying to buy stamps and the employee screamed at her telling her to read the sign properly. The line was long but people were patiently waiting, a lot of us had come on our lunch breaks. Paying customers don't deserve to be treated like this. Also, as I was paying with my card the cashier had her phone out and it looked very suspicious. I'm going to avoid this location at all costs. I've been going here for the past three years and the ladies have always had an attitude for no reason. I'm nice to them, never make a fuss about the service or anything and I'm patient but yesterday I got the rudest treatment. Last two times I went to pick up my packages they were just rude and went on about how I wasn't allowed to and I told them my building had told me I could so I ordered a bunch and I wouldn't again and she still went on and on, it literally takes her less than ten seconds to bring the packages to me. The girl with the short red hair said she sent one of my packages back because I didn't pick it up on time but I just checked and it was delivered yesterday and refused by them. I understand customer service is hard but I don't understand the constant unwarranted rudeness. Hope they fix their attitude or hire better employees because no one deserves to have an unpleasant experience every time they go to the post office read more
