While in Newark I had to send a document next day air to Atlanta and no copies , emails , scanned ,…read moreetc , is allowed .The document must be the original and arrive the next day or else I am screwed so I was lucky to visit a us post office that actually has normal, friendly , courtesy , professional postal employees. I filled out the correct label and handed the window clerk the correct next day envelope. Damn 25 bucks for a letter that weights less then 6 ounces but it arrived the next day in Atlanta before 12pm and I ain't screwed . Don't be shocked but this US POST OFFICE IN NEWARK GETS 4 STARS .

Review of Passport Services:…read more The Federal Square post office location offers passport services. I went here to replace a lost one. I recommend that you go to the location as early as possible, so you can be one of the first seen. There is a specific service window for passport services. You'll need to queue up there and sign your name on a list to be seen (each line is an estimated time slot). Then they'll ask you to fill out forms and then ensure that you have the right form of payment. A postal worker will call names off in the order of the list. When your name is called, you'll be taken to a seating area outside of the office where your passport picture will be taken. You wait there and then you'll be called into the room. After you get your picture taken, you'll then wait again for them to process the paperwork and then mail out your application to the Fed (you pay for postage). The whole process took about 45 minutes for me.

A weekend when most of the folks would be walking in to a post office, this place was a total disaster to serve just two counters for such a long queue of line. There was a nice old lady who was standing for quite some time with a nice fluffy puppy that got everyone's attention and petting. Just as the lady was approaching the counter, the lady from inside gave a stern warning to not have the puppy inside the post office. The poor lady stood there helpless and in disbelief not knowing what to do and the employee wasn't buying any of her pleadings. Later one of the folks standing in the line offered to do her money order on her behalf. When it came to my turn, I had an envelope that had to be pasted and they didn't have a glue to get it pasted. The same lady bluntly kept declining to even answer on why they wouldn't carry a glue. Now, which post office wouldn't have a glue?? I stood for more than 10 minutes and was asked to get it pasted and get back in line. I felt so disgruntled but didn't have a choice but get out of post office, get it glued and got back in line yet again. Thank you USPS for a memorable weekend experience!

You can't even feel good about getting called "next" because your hopes and dreams have already been shattered to the point of "whats the point in living anymore." 2 workers... a huge, bullet proof window... an angry line of at least 20 people on their lunch break... multiplied together: each person should expect a 40-minute-to-life sentence... Its like a sports-betting shop at midnight, and everyone's feeling like they're betting rent money just to double and make back-rent. I'm only glad that most of these lifers make the choice to not bring their children... why am I still in line again (or "on line" as Elliot W. would say)?
