Of course, being that it is the post office, the workers worked slightly faster than a snail's pace, which is better than some offices. Probably waited about 5 minutes or so to pick up some stamps. The worker was courteous, no complaints there. The building is absolutely gorgeous and you can tell has been around for some time in terms of its historic design. Street parking is free out front.

As stated by the employee, when the mail is distributed for delivery, only then does one other employee come to assist at the front counter. This is ridiculous since the line quickly builds in number practically out the door. Other post offices i.e. Bellport PO has 1500 residents and always has 2 employees at the front counter for assistance immediately when the door opens at 9:00 am. Patchogue needs two employees at the counter upon opening their doors and for the holidays they could use three employees

Both regular spots were filled up by employees when I arrived. I pulled off to the side not knowing where to park and figuring I would be quick. I don't know this location so I wasn't sure what to do since all the spaces were filled. Before I even entered the building a man popped his head out and said to me "what do you need!?" And I was confused about what he meant and I had him repeat himself. He was clearly annoyed and I answered saying I needed some boxes. He responded by saying "well you need to move your car". I explained there's no spaces left and he said that obviously I need to park on the sidewalk (this was not obvious to me as I said previously I have never been here and why would I know the parking dynamics here??). I apologized and said I was unaware and moved my car. Then I went back inside and up to the counter and the man says "what box do you need". I explained that I'm moving and I'd like some large boxes for shipping. He simply shakes his head at me and says nothing. I said you don't have boxes?? He says "we don't have big ones." I said have a nice day and left. The way that he was speaking to me was extremely rude and condescending. I don't go to the USPS store often and it's not everyday you're packing up all your things to move across the country. I'm 22 so I've never had to pack up all my things and ship stuff out like this before and was just hoping to get some assistance. I was super taken aback by how rude this man was. I will never go back here! I hate leaving a bad review but this was just super disappointing and I wouldn't want anyone else to experience this.

Lines move fast because the postal workers know what they are doing. The location is on Montauk Highway and therefore is easy to find. Parking is plentiful and is on a relatively small lot. Coronavirus Alert: A clear shower curtain drapes in front of the front counter. The floor is marked with green Xs, and six feet measures the distance between each X. Bring disposable gloves if you plan to pay for your transaction by machine.

He said he needed proof of the old address with my girlfriend's name on it. I told him we would come back the next day, but she found a letter with the old address in my car, so we went back at the same time and waited. Another man helped me, who seemed angry. He told me to show him my green card or whatever it was I had shown the previous person, and this was only because I was speaking Spanish with my girlfriend and because of my Latino appearance, because all I had to do was say "ID, not residency."
