Front staff is usually friendly but service is sub par. Our postal carrier chooses when they want to deliver packages. We are only 1/8 mile from our mailbox. They leave a note they my package can be picked up on a Saturday..... but the post office ends up being closed on a Saturday.... read more

Getting your mail on time has always been a stroke of LUCK in Rathdrum compared to others in the Panhandle, but Rathdrum is above all is lacking the go the EXTRA BLOCK for our SHIPPERS & CONSIGNEES for they are the ones who created their job. I don't know about other USP's but I have only seen 2 USPS vehicles in 19 yrs. & they were delivering mail to the 2 people on my road who were invalids & confined to their home. The majority of mail in the Rathdrum area has been delivered by SUB-CONTRACTORS, which is ILLEGAL for anyone who is not EMPLOYED as a EMPLOYEE to touch the USPS MAIL. Our Mail in route from the East passes right by Rathdrum & goes straight to SPOKANE WASHINGTON, I assume it's do to the fact there isn't a AIRPORT big enough to handle any size aircraft above a Twin Engine Bonanza, so it's sorted in Spokane & trucked back to Rathdrum. Now mind you, if you had a letter or small package of IMPORTANCE shipped from Wyoming Monday & it got to Spokane on Friday morning you must wait till MONDAY to have it in hand. 7 days. Now Other USPS like Spirit Lake, Hayden & Post Falls are ope Sat morning so you can Pick Up a item that the Spokane RAMP sent a driver over to leave USPS freight, but the P.O. was closed...why would thy bother to send someone knowing that P.O.'s are close...unless they too hire a SUB-CONTRACTOR for that job? SO whose lying here. Rathdrum employees are there Sat. a.m. to except OVERNIGHT AIR MAIL & PRIORITY MAIL & I worked for FEDEX AIR & OVERNIGHT PRIORITY & STANDARD AIR were DELIVERED @ the same time only in seperate containers scanned in & sorted for same day delivery then STANDARD was sorted & put in each route bay net to the couriers & you could PICKUP your item on Sat for there were EMPLOYEES that worked till 12:00 so YOU had that CHOICE to. BUT not RATHDRUM They are there on SAT a.m. receiving freight & sorting it but to lazy to hand a package out to YOU. It's worth the extra cost to ship FEDEX than for me to put up LATE SERVICE UNCOOPERATIVE EMPLOYEES w/ laziness & disrespect from people who know they wont be REPRIMANDED for their ACTIONS, can't see past their own nose & appreciate the business you give them, A business who breaks the law that the so called Govt/CORPORATION covers up & for & are paid 50k a yr. to go that extra block & DO NOT. Plus they are not the small town Wholesome & Friendly North Idaho has always been known for. Very poorly run PO. Dangerous location, poor customer service, chaos, lost mail, lacking key information. All around terribly run PO.

Services here that are rendered are terrible. Lower level staff is kind and work hard though. They have rules at this post office I have never seen elsewhere in this country. I got told that all of my mail will not be able to be picked up due to an audit they had that disallows me to pick up my mail and sends all my mail back to sender. However, I have been picking it up and was not aware that I wasn't able to get my mail delivered here after a certain date when I did it. I did it online and tried changing some things once I arrived in person with my change of address form which even that had a strange never heard of set of rules to go with that form as well. read more

Slow and unconcerned about the people it serves! 45 minutes to pick up held mail. It wasn't because the was a lot of people it was literally because they direct you to a line that no would come help. Five of us just had to stand there waiting watching everyone that was bringing money in, stamps, package mail outs etc.... Got helped first. read more

As a Rathdrum resident we are screwed since we only have one post office that handles our mail. Mail always delivered to other people's mailbox parcel. I had packages damaged and boxes mangled that it is not even safe to order anything fragile VIA USPS. I ordered designer bag and it was delivered to a wrong box and unfortunately since the package was stating "delivered at Parcel Locker" the seller would not refund. I often end up with other neighbors packages but I do deliver them to the correct address. The postal inspector needs to investigate the lost mail and packages around here. read more

No shock for someone to mention that the cashier is over the top rude to the customers. She heavy sighs and rolls her eyes...makes you feel like a jerk for even needing to go to the post office in the first place. She's been that way for years, I'm honestly surprised she's still there. I moved here recently from CA and I was blown away with how friendly and helpful the folks were that work at this place. It was crazy packed due to Christmas season , yet they kept their smiles and were wishing everyone a merry Christmas. Signed papers saying to leave packages at the door, still leaves me a notice to pick them up at the post office. Whoever they have delivering packages needs to do their job otherwise they should give it to someone who will. It's disrespectful. read more

In the past year this location has lost more packages for my address than all the other locations servicing where I've lived, combined. I was waiting for a package that the tracking said would be delivered today. The tracking info shows it was delivered today at 11:11. I checked my mailbox at 11:30, and all that was there was junk mail. I immediately call their 800 number (as the local office is closed), thinking that so close to the time that it was delivered, there would be a chance that it could be recovered from wherever they incorrectly dropped it. After being on hold for a hour and 17 minutes, I was able to speak with a rep on the east coast. She took all of my info, verified that the sender had the correct address on the package, and gave me a claim number stating that someone would be in contact with me within 3 business days. I'm upset that I'll likely not get this package (which was a one-of-a-kind, not able to be replaced present), and it was stolen by the postal service. I'll be taking the camera footage I have of my mailbox, showing no one messing with my mail from the time the carrier delivered the junk mail, updated the tracking wrongly showing it was delivered, and me going out 20 minutes later to check the mail. This place is the main reason that privatized postal service is a great idea. read more

Called for days no one answers and they pretend like you can leave a message but you can't because there voice mail is full over others customers who are not getting any service. I consistently have packages that the carrier doesn't ever attempt to deliver at my door or otherwise. All she does is leave a slip for me to pick it up the next business day. She is rude and unprofessional when I do have contact with her. It's Saturday and again she just left a "sorry we missed you" slip and I was home all day watching for her. Now I have to wait until Monday to go fetch my package and do her job! Again! read more

As a previous comment below mentions I believe it was Julie, (older skinny lady at the front) who helped me. She only seems nice to locals but is a completely horrid to all other customers. I didn't appreciate her negative attitude when I'm just trying to simply get some help. I will be filing a formal complaint. I've never felt the need to file a complaint before, but this needs to be addressed. I haven't had an issue with other post office clerks there, only this one person seems outright hostile. read more

The short skinny blonde lady that works the front counter is the rudest postal worker I have ever came across. I think her name is Julie? I was about the 6th person in line patiently waiting for my turn. The lady at the front of the line was being chastised by "Julie" for not understanding her complicated definition of how mail can stop being delivered to the woman's rental property. Myself being very outspoken was wondering what kind of interaction I was going to receive. I realized after the next few customers ahead of me were "long time locals" Julie wasn't as curt to them. Now, after 20 minutes of waiting in line Julie doesn't greet me, she just stands there looking at me. I say I want to rent a P.O. Box. She tosses the form to fill out and on the form it says I need 2 pieces of ID with my address. My husband and I had just moved to Rathdrum and I had my DL and my car registration with our address. I explain this to her and she is super annoyed by my lack of these ID's. She rolls her eyes and says "yeah I guess that will have to do" So I said Ill be right back as to go to my car and get the registration. Return to the counter, Julie is gone but a nice man was now at the window. I go up to the counter and he is very pleasant, greets me with a hello and asks what I needed. I then hear Julie yell out from wherever she scurried off to "She needs a PO Box!" He then asks me for the form and my ID, I set up the account, I pay. He proceeds to show me on the receipt about a survey to fill out about their customer service. I get a big grin on my face and yell out "I cant wait to give Julie her review!" I could hear her gasp in the back room. I have since cancelled my P.O. Box and will NEVER use this PO again! read more

Good luck trying to get through to anyone here. First tried the nationwide number since it popped up first. No luck. Then tried the local Rathdrum phone number on a local website, 208-687-3415. The greeting keeps asking for a code number and there is no option to leave a message or contact anyone. Then found the email for the post master dave.w.mchenry@usps.gov but a few days after emailing I received an email saying this couldn't be delivered. Then found their general email so tried that, support@postofficeshours.com. A few days later I received an email saying that couldn't be delivered. So, back to the nationwide phone number and just got recorded messages. A package we sent was never delivered and we'd to find it. Good luck if you have to deal with them and aren't able to visit them in person! read more

I got a notification that a package was left on my front porch. When I got home it was not there. I assumed they mis-marked a package that fit in the mail box. 2 days later I realized the package was actually a large item expected from my aunt. I reviewed my CCTV footage to find out who the thief was, only to find it was the mail carrier herself!!! I understand she was afraid to come in my yard with my barking dog, but she didn't go back to my box to leave a package notice. No, she pulled into my driveway, right up to my garage (she was protected from my dog that was behind a fence), marked the package delivered then drove off with it! My wife called the next day to complain and they said they had the package and would attempt re-delivery today. I just reviewed the CCTV footage again, and they didn't even get out of their truck or look for a place to leave it this time, they just immediately placed a "sorry we missed you" notice in my mailbox (4 days after marking it delivered). I will be uploading the footage of them stealing my package to YouTube and sharing with my local media. Rathdrum post office is the worst I've ever had to deal with. The postmaster needs to clean house here. read more

I am with the other person who would rate them a ZERO!! I sent my son a letter via regular mail and he never got it. So I sent a letter 2nd day flat rate and the jerks took it back to the Post office without leaving a notice. So my son went do there today and the said they had nothing for him and couldn't do anything since he didn't have a slip. I called the post office and spoke to some guy who said it was labeled wrong and it had postage due and my son didn't get it because they are in a separate pile than the others!! Seriously was the girl too busy in the rural community to get off her lazy butt and look in the other pile. Why should any money be due when he never received a notification??? I told my son perhaps he should get a PO box in another town since the post office since to be run and employed with incompetent people. read more

The customer service here is unbelievable. I cannot believe that they get away with being so rude with no regard for the customer. I've visited this location only a few times, but it's been the same experience each time... bad! When I came in today I was ignored for a good 5 minutes while standing 3 feet away, when I finally got acknowledged I was asked questions about my package with a seriously rude undertone, then pushed aside and forced to witness her be rude to every other guest she interacted with too. She proceeded to try and find my package while yelling questions at me from across the room, only to tell me I got delivered followed by "I don't know what to tell you". read more

This place is awful! I had a box sent to me payed extra for fast shipping! And I still haven't gotten the box! It already arrived there they have it they were suppose to deliver it days ago but apperently they can't access my house which is not true there is a sidewalk that is completely cleared from the road to my house there is no snow on this sidewalk and they won't deliver it to me. If we pay to have it here fast then we should get the box fast. I've heard so many bad things about this place with the workers being rude and now they won't even deliver my box waste of money to have two day shipping when it's almost been a week. ADD ON. we ended up having to go to the post office cause my box was not delivered and the people in there were so rude. It was terrible most unprofessional place I have ever been.
