Tends to be long lines after 4pm and an understaffed counter. Also, they often run out of the various forms and don't restock them !

Post offices are often understaffed so most of the time people need to wait. It no exception here but the workers, despite the fact that they were busy, tried to be helpful by giving people info and instructions as they work to save people time. Their job isn't easy so I appreciate their extra efforts.

When I finally got to the counter, the clerk told me that ONLY the supervisor can access the system to check for a change-of-address/validation letter. Here's the kicker: the supervisor went to lunch at 12:00 PM. I was there at 5:10 PM. That's over 5 hours later, and apparently, the supervisor never bothered to come back to work. No one else was authorized to help me. So my 50-minute wait was a complete waste of time. I understand people need breaks, but abandoning your post for an entire afternoon is inexcusable. If only one person in the entire building has system access, that person needs to be available during business hours. This is a federal service, not a food truck. Complete mismanagement and a total disrespect for customers' time. And this isn't even my first nightmare with this branch. A few years ago, I mailed a check through USPS from the drop box right outside this exact location, and it was stolen. When I went inside to speak with someone, they flat-out told me they can't stop thieves from raiding their mailboxes--even the ones sitting right outside their own office. So they knowingly leave unsecured collection boxes out front, admit they're powerless to protect your mail, and then make you wait nearly an hour just to be told the one person who can help took a five-hour lunch. The entire USPS system is fully compromised.

Two other customers, also with ready-to-ship packages, asked if they could simply leave their items at the counter, but were refused without any explanation. What made this more frustrating was that there were still packages on the counter and a drop hamper right next to it. Despite staff still being present, they wouldn't allow us to leave our packages inside and instead told us to leave them outside. This was extremely poor customer service and a very disappointing experience.

It's nice that this location has a few limited time parking meters (they take coins, credit card, or use pay by phone app) right outside. Or if you want to park up the street there are free neighborhood spots, but it might be a trek downhill/uphill. Remember to check the street sweeping schedule to avoid a parking ticket. The customer service agents aren't super cheerful, but they are usually nice and have never been mean to me. There's an automated machine inside you can use to pay and print out certain postage/package postage if you want, but I find the counter people to be faster. If you have a pre-paid label/package then you can skip the line and just place the package on the counter where all the other dropped off packages are if you don't need a receipt. The flat rate/no weight limit priority boxes are helpful. I like that they have a rack of greeting cards for sale. I just wish they were fully stocked all the time with the different holidays/celebrations. I missed out on Christmas cards this year because I went too early in December, but their prices for Christmas cards were pretty reasonable in the past. They also sell most packaging materials you would need including boxes, envelopes, padded envelopes and tape. I don't even care whether the USPS as a whole is super profitiable or not. It should be regarded as a service for all of us. People get their medications and important documents through the mail. I avoid using Fedex or UPS because they often damage my packages on their way to the recipient. It's better that we have more competing services overall. I find the USPS website the easiest to use especially if you have a scale at home. I don't think mailpeople should have to deliver mail on Saturdays. Let them rest. Do delivery mailpeople have to pay for their own uniforms? Their uniforms look pretty ragged from what I've seen. Anyways, thank you to our local post office and mailpeople.

I wouldn't be shocked if employees were returning packages back to avoid shipping them or just dropping them at random houses. There is endless junk mail from USPS as well. 95% of the mail is citywide run marketing ads and junk coupons that I do not wish to receive. When I was there last the person in front of me asked why the mail carrier stated they couldn't deliver to his house and where his package is. Something that seems to be common and part of living in Marin is losing your mail. Then when you go to find it they tell you it's not our problem wait for an update that never happens. Or they call you to make you feel bad and blame you as if you could deliver yourself. I have come here multiple times. It's completely hit or miss, and most of the time right now a miss. The post office manager blames the lack of organization on the employees and day shift supervisors. How many supervisors and managers need to work at a location where only 1-2 people ever work the front desk? Where would mail go if it's not on a truck/plane/boat or in a usps facility?

This post office offers most of the services you would find it in the other post office. Just know that when you go you may be waiting in line for a bit. It's just slow. But isn't that what snail mail is anyway? I have always found the workers to be helpful regardless of how long it takes. One thing I didn't like is that if you use the self service machine for stamps, you can't trade them in. So what you get is what you get. Just keep that in mind because there's not different stamp designs you can choose if you using the self service machine. Is usually only one type of stamp. One really has to wonder what grossly incompetent nincompoop DEI clown circus runs this station!…read more For almost 20 years my friend is the holder of POBox 411621 at the USPS office 1600 Bryant St. in San Francisco 94141. Over the years he has maintained the aforementioned and also updated and submitted at the post office account information i.e. mailbox name holders. Such as adding is DBA business name and adding from an offering from USPS office the street address. All done while filling out and submitting the required forms at the post office. This worked for almost 2 decades. He always received mail addressed with either name, some even without his name and when mail mailed to someone got returned for whatever reason, he received it back in his POB. I don't know what DEI imbeciles USPS employs now, but some cretin all of a sudden decided that any mail addressed other than with his first & last name, even if PO Box and street address and ZIP Code is correct, will be returned to the sender as "insufficient address, attempted delivery not known" sticker! This is a particular insinuation considering that he received mail were just the PO Box and ZIP Code was on the envelope. Also mail returned to him, were his return address on envelope contained minimal information i.e. PO Box and ZIP Code, came back correctly. (image attached) This USPS idiocy has cost him in a time of economic distress to lose a new client, have his reputation damaged and lose the desperately needed $15,000 - $20,000 of a project assignment/contract. I went with him to the post office on March 10, 2026 after he had gotten the envelopes from the sender with the USPS return sticker on to complain about this. (image attached) Asking for the stationmaster/postmaster at the post office he got stupid smiles and the lamest of lame excuses and denials. Mostly none reactions that such individual does not exist. As excuse they pulled out his original registration card from back 2007 for the POBox. When he then asked what about the updates that he made and forms submitted over the years, all he got was silent dumb looks. He showed them some actual returned mail envelopes he got back over the years (image attached) which at the same short nameless address clearly proving that the post office has the address on file, as it is the same [valid] address on the envelope. Otherwise he would have not gotten the mail (envelopes) back! He got a shoulder shrugging blank stare with excuses, lame explanations or no-answers. Since this year suddenly mail to his POB got returned by the by these post office jerks as non-deliverable!!! Yellow sticker: Return to sender "attempted - not known".
