I had planned to use the Presidio Post Office, but to my surprise they stop interacting with customers at 4:00pm. Luckily the Marina Post Office is not that far away, and has an ample white zone if you are in a pinch. The staff were both friendly, and efficient and calmed me when I thought my postage cost was $120 , yea I did not see the ( . ) Overall a good experience, plus there is a Safeway across the street if you need to do a fast shop. read more

TL;DR: don't let the staff skip through all the screens straight to payment. Don't pay until you get to confirm the address they are typing into the system. The staff clicked through all the buttons so quickly in the screen and didn't let me confirm the address on the keypad. As a result, It got sent to the wrong address because USPS told me the address I stated is not the same as what's in the system. Must have been because I never got the option to confirm the address! I know I wrote the right address on the box because it was to my home. The staff who helped me hates his job, you could tell. There wasn't even another customer at the store, he just wanted to get through it as quick as possible. read more

this is bordering on theft! Walter the "postal worker" who cant add or speak well. has overcharged me twice in the last two trips. well... my experience at this location was just like any other post office.they are clean the customers are nice and ok.but the employee was not as friendly as I known the post office some times they are ( when you are lucky). I was there just to get a form I waited for 20 minutes and was just 1 a head of and other at the counter , the officer took for ever, moved very slow than when my time came up she just point " it's over there !!! UPDATE (12/19/16): This post office no longer handles passports. I was good while it lasted, though! PREVIOUS REVIEW: After attempting to call ten (no exaggeration!!) post offices in San Francisco trying to set up a passport application appointment, I simply walked into this post office in the Marina and had my application processed in five minutes WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT! What a pleasant experience!! It probably helped that I went on a Thursday morning at 11:00 AM, but I still appreciated the service without needing an appointment. With all of the time that I saved, I even had time to write a quick Yelp review. They are one of the few post offices in SF that don't require an appointment, so pick an "off time" and shoot over to the Marina. read more

I had a pretty painless experience here the other day. I'm (partially) in charge of preparing and mailing out the invitations for my parents' fortieth anniversary, and after almost twenty-four hours of being awake because of my job, I found out that the stamps I had precisely affixed to about sixty envelopes weren't enough postage. Rather than adding ugly stamps, which isn't my perfectionist family's way, I trudged around the Marina (!) looking for sixty-two-cent stamps. This place had only thirteen of them, but the guy helping me, while gruff, was very efficient and helpful. He was concerned that the seventy-two-cent stamps I bought wouldn't be enough postage, but when I assured him they would be, he got me the right number. The place is small, but it's run efficiently. Three words: Open. On. Sunday. I've come to have really low expectations for most post offices; the wait is always too long, the prices are always too high, and the people who work there are always too incompetent for their own good. It's sad, really. But this post office is so great that I'm (a) embarrassed to admit how much I like it and (b) hesitant to tell people about it because the lines will get longer. But I have to do the good deed here. You're welcome. This place is in the best spot (i.e., in the same radius as a Starbucks, a 24 Hour Fitness, and a Safeway) so you can get other stuff done when you come to the area. It's open on Saturdays and Sundays (as I mentioned before). It's not huge and impersonal. It's actually--dare I say it--a pleasant Post Office experience. read more

I know. I know. 5 stars for a post office? Impossible! But out of all the other options in the city, this is definitely the best option I have found thus far. Especially compared to the miserable experience I have each time I attempt to go to the Lombard branch, with their ridiculously long lines, this experience is like night and day! Absolute WORST customer service. If I could have given a 0 star rating I would. I arrived at 5:01pm, after walking a mile from work -- One minute after the post office closed and I had watched them let another customer in, and one of the workers had the audacity to come up to the door and yell at me through it that they were closed and to go away. I live in soma and Sutter street is much more closer to me than this location however I truly like this location. There's parking available on the street and Safeway is across the street where you can park also and shop afterwards. Their customer service is really good and there are usually no lines. They are very helpful and informative. read more

Tip for passport services - online says you need to make a reservation by calling their number, but they never pick up. Kinda defeats the purpose of offering that service. I suggest just going to any shipping place that does passport photos (Union Post SF is pretty good) to apply for a new passport instead. read more

If you're busy as hell and the regular weekday hours don't work out, this is a great option for handling your USPS business on the weekend, esp. Sunday. The tellers won't be winning any 100m dash medals anytime ever and their computers are distinctly slower than my regular TenderNob USPS branch, but whatever, we have all Sunday right? read more

Horrible staff. I live in Marina, SF and the postal carrier never delivers packages at my place. Lazy bums. I even contacted the USPS Manager. Another lazy bum. But no improvement in service. UGH! I am SO tired of trying to call this place and having no one answer or worse, having someone pick up and not say anything and then hang up!!! Yes, this happens to me ALL THE TIME! And, it is almost impossible to get them to deliver packages or to redeliver mail after vacation hold. On several occasions when I went on vacation I had to call 3-4 times to get my mail to be redelivered even though I had specified it be redelivered when I returned. Lets be clear, I don't care for post offices in general, but it really urks me when I check their website and call the day before to ask what time they open in the morning, and the response I get is 10am. So imagine my surprise when I track clear across town to check our non-profits PO Box, I arrive at 10:30am and the place is closed, front door locked with a line of people outside also complaining. I don't understand how this place has a good rating. I have been trying to get a passport appointment at this place for weeks and no one ever answers the phone there. Finally my husband spoke with someone, who said that while they had no appointments, he could come by and see if someone cancelled. So today we showed up and at first the clerk said she could do it. We had all of our paperwork filled out, copies already made of all our documentation, photo's everything. The woman asked us if we had everything, told us she would do it, and then went into the back. When she came back out, she told us that she couldn't do it and was very rude. It would have taken her about 2 minutes to check the paperwork and sign off! There is a reason why our goverment is going bankrupt and it is that people are not willing to do one more iota of work than they want to! If this were a business such behaviour would never stand. I am just happy in the knowledge that "Karma" is definitely going to bite this woman in the "xxx"! read more

This is a complaint regarding an incident that occurred on 05/16/2017. USPS online tracking stated that our package was delivered to a parcel locker (this has never happened before). We don't have parcel lockers in our building. I went to the nearest USPS store (this one) and asked if they had my package. A gentleman working at this USPS location said no and that it was located at the USPS on Lombard St. He did nothing to verify this to be true when he told me this, so I asked him to please check and make sure since I was on foot and would have to walk to the other location. He initially said he couldn't. At my insistence, he agreed to check and went to the back. He came back and confirmed that it was at the Lombard location. I went to the Lombard location and they told me it wasn't there and that this man at USPS on Buchanan had misinformed me. I find this to be absolutely horrific customer service!!! No regard whatsoever for my time or the package that remains missing. read more
