I've had to come to this post office a couple times since moving to the area and as far as post offices go, this one is very nice. Just as evidenced by the overall score of this location (and most Usps locations) it's not usually a pleasant experience. In fact, you may dread going there. You gotta go there, not because you want to but for some reason you have to. Well both my visits the attendants each time were very nice and patient with me. Which goes a long way, particularly when they aren't being incentivized. This post office is located nicely too, the area usually isn't too busy, there is a parking lot with a fair amount of parking on and off street and the actual building is on the bigger side, as I've seen some small post offices. So while I don't go often, if the folks at this Usps can make my day slightly easier, I'll certainly take it. read more

I stopped getting my mail and was not notified. sick. I submitted a complaint and called this office 100x before getting any information about why. Over the course of 3 days with no one picking up the phone, finally my knight in shining armor emerged from the fog and picked up the phone. i was speechless and for a min i had forgotten why i was calling in the first place. not really sure why they even have a phone number if its answered 1 out of 100 times. keep up the good work! read more

Every time I come here the white patrons get HOSTILE with me. I don't know if it's xenophobia, my Californian license plate, or something else, but every person who passes by either stares at me (for a long time to make sure I know they are) or they exchange some verbal words (which I cannot make out clearly from inside the car). But for the love of God, it isn't safe. It can't be a coincidence that this has happened multiple times. Just don't come here! The workers here are rude anyway. read more

The best I get at this post office is someone who is nice but a bit confused. The worst I get is someone who's decided that I'm being unreasonable when I ask them to provide a service that USPS is literally supposed to provide. I had a package delivered here as hold for pickup. I get that it isn't a common request, and not many packages are sent as hold for pickup. But from what I can tell, universally, USPS post offices are supposed to offer this service. The value of this package was $150, and I'd been waiting all week for it. I get to the post office and tell one of the people at the window that I'm here to get a package as hold for pickup. She goes away with the tracking number, comes back a couple of minutes later and is on the phone, not looking at me and not signaling at all that she is going to get back to me. And then she tells me that they do not offer this service at all, and that my package has been returned to sender, that I have to get a PO box if I want to get a package that is marked as hold for pickup, and basically tells me to get out of the line. She was incredibly condescending the entire time, calling me "babe" and then told me to "have a blessed day" when her tone said basically "fuck off." I went back when there wasn't a line any longer just to make sure that the package was actually gone. I live rather far away from this post office so I didn't want to have to come all the way back if it turned out it was there. I'd also gotten a package as held for pickup just the other week. I was trying to explain this to this woman and she interrupted me, gaslit me, and told me that she personally had returned my package to sender. If she had literally done that, could she have not explained that before wandering off when I asked in the first place? If you want to get your packages held for pickup at this location, you're out of luck unless you can arrive at 8:30am sharp I guess to snag the package before it gets wrongfully returned to sender. Never want to go to this location again, and I'm dreading ever going back there (because inevitably I will have to, for one reason or another) read more

This is a terrible post office. I sent a certified letter but they didn't log the tracking info and it got lost in the mail. The people that work at the desk are extremely unfriendly and they don't clean their pens. It's unfortunate that this is the closest post office to me because it absolutely sucks. They're blatantly inept, and even when they realize it, they genuinely don't care. At all. Lost packages regularly. Packages delivered to the wrong address regularly (blocks away). Rude and unhelpful attitude when asking for help resolving their mistakes. Most of the time they're not found (literally still waiting on the 'update' I was promised over 2 years ago on the investigation they opened on my first lost package). Fiancés jewelry was stolen by one of the postal workers. Only conclusion that can be drawn. Left a note on our door when we were definitely home, went to retrieve it, told it was lost and could not be found. Offered no help to find it and were evasive about filing any reports. Would not give names when asked. This is after years of them never knocking and leaving notes. She works from home so has always been home when they sneakily try leave notes and disappear. They are the reason that post offices will soon be gone and good riddance. read more

I have used post office boxes since the 70's and have come to the conclusion that the USPS has become increasingly incompetent over the many years I have been with them.We had rental property and that was our main reason for using a paid box at the USPS for collecting mail. Now we are experiencing items either put in other peoples boxes, or lost. We even recently picked up a package that had been opened , re-taped and a letter of apology from another box holder stating that our item was put in her box. We received an email from one of our vendors stating that our package had been delivered. We go to the post office to pick it up and the desk clerk says "we can't find your package" and in the process of looking he hands me 2 other packages , that we had been waiting weeks for, one package containing medications. His response to me was "oh, these were in our wrong box cart". This is disturbing all the goof ups that are occurring at the USPS. Perhaps it is time we bring the robots in...I think they will do a more efficient job. JR read more

The customer service here is despicable. Stephen in particular is a pice of work: I have had the misfortune of dealing with him on 2/3 of my last visits here and he has yelled at me repeatedly, spoken with a tone/attitude implying I was a bother and an idiot (ex: "what do you mean, there wasn't a line", "what's fragile, you're not shipping alcohol I hope", "I thought you were going to jam up our drop box" and so on). I understand the post office is having a tough time right now but it's infuriating to see it being represented by such a miserable person who lacks even the most basic of common courtesy. I've taken to going out of my way to go to a different post office almost 10 minutes farther away to avoid having to interact with this miserable man. read more

This is the best post office I've ever dealt with. I will go out of my way to go here because everyone that works here is super nice and helpful, and there is always parking (if you don't see any in the lot directly across the street, there is another one right behind it that's always got spots). I have to go to the post office once or twice a week to send out packages, and this location has honestly made me not dread doing it like I have when I've lived other places. I've witnessed them deal with irate customers with grace, when they've been belittled or blamed for things that are not their fault. I've never had a bad experience here, and I've been meaning to leave a review for them for awhile. Today I decided I needed to because the sweetest lady who works there was treated so poorly by the woman before me, and she handled it like a class act. Sometimes the line gets a little long; they power through customers as quickly as they can, but there are times later in the day where I wish they had another employee. I'd still rather wait in line here than go somewhere else, though! I truly appreciate having this post office near me. read more

Wow, possibly the rudest postal worker I've encountered. A bummer since the other person working in the office seemed lovely, but Kanitha was remarkably rude. I was shipping a small parcel to the UK and at one point she looked at me and said "haven't you ever shipped anything before" when I didn't have a customs form signed. If you've shipped internationally you know it's a whole different ballgame than domestic and Kanitha was far more excited to berate me for mistakes than help. Worst postal experience ever. read more

There are some irritating postal service companies out there (looking at you, DHL) but this isn't one of them. At least the Wallingford store. The couriers always make the effort to knock on my door when they need a signature, pick up parcels even when I forget to put in a request online, don't tend to throw around boxes (I don't notice much if any damage from shipping, and I get a lot of plants in those thin long triangle boxes that are easy to snap) and have generally been pretty accommodating, considering how late I am in getting through the door before they close. If I could give zero stars I would. I sent two cards with $50 gift cards PRIORITY MAIL from this post office. When they got to their destinations (in two very different cities) both cards had been ripped open and the gift cards had be STOLEN out of them. Because they came out of the same office and went to two different cities, the gift cards were stolen from THIS POST OFFICE. I went in to ask if there was a manager to speak to, and there is apparently "NO manager". No one to report to that there is THEFT happening at the post office. Not just on regular mail, but on mail that I paid an extra $7 a parcel to send out "priority." Their only "priority" at this post office is theft. And it is very apparent that no one at that office is concerned about it. I will DEFINITELY be closing my PO box through this post office and it is safe to say that I will never be returning to this office again. Don't make the same mistake that I did. Our mail man just didn't deliver our mail today. Monday was Veterans Day. My unemployment check was sent from Olympia on Tuesday, to arrive on Wednesday (today). And not just my check, my boyfriends check as well. (Yes sadly we are both unemployed at the moment.) Elsewhere in the city, all of my friends who collect unemployment, collected their checks that were delivered with the rest of their mail. And I know it's not the fault of the unemployment office because we just didn't get mail today. No junk mail, no bank statements, zip. So I go to my local post office and the staff recommends I leave a note so that my carrier can call me when he returns from his route. After checking my mail slot many times today, in hopes that the mail miraculously appears at some point today, I finally give up and I go run a couple of errands. At about 5:30 I receive a call from the post office saying that the mail should be in my box. I ask, since I had just checked my box 30-45 minutes prior, "Did he come back to deliver it?" To which the woman who called responds "Yes." "How long ago," I ask. "About an hour ago," she responds. Joy, rapture. I will have money!!!! I get home at about 6:15. No mail in my mailbox. The center is closed. There is nothing I can do. I'm hoping that our mailman accidentally put our mail in the wrong box and a neighbor will return our mail to us. I'm hoping that my check arrives tomorrow. I'm giving my local USPS 1 star because they a) failed to deliver my mail on a Wednesday b) didn't deliver 2 very important paychecks to two different people that many things were depending on c) flat out lied that they returned to my apartment building to deliver my unemployment checks/mail and d) lied that they delivered or re-delivered our mail "about an hour ago", when mail was delivered at noon, and obviously no one returned at 4pm like I was informed. It's extremely unfortunate that we have no recourse when the post office doesn't do their job. read more

People are so strange when they HATE THIS PLACE WITH A FIERY PASSION because their mail skipped a day or something. That's not the post office's fault! Just your average old post office..gets the job done! I live a block away, so this is my go to post office for all my mailing needs. I've never had an issue with picking up or sending out packages. I am a big fan of priority mail and this location usually has all the packaging materials (priority boxes or envelopes). I don't recommend coming at 5pm on a Friday (or any day of the week for that matter) unless you want to wait in a long line - although this is pretty typical of any post office! Mid day or early afternoon and you can be in and out. Staff is always friendly, maybe not the most enthusiastic employees but if you smile, they smile :) read more

I have many occasions to come to this neighborhood Post Office. I am always struck by the friendliness of the staff. It's a neighborhood place. You can run into a friend in line. Or have a friend behind the counter. Or make a new one in line. In November when I was sending a package a woman whom I shall likely never see again and I split the price of a roll of tape! Only in Wallingford! I will caution you about 2 things- parking - there is none! It seems, tho there is a lot across the street. There are about 3 different homeless, disabled men who rotate time begging in front. They have a constitutional right apparently. At times people live on the sidewalk in front. It can be scary for a woman to go there alone at certain dark hours. Negatives spoken, I still give it a 5 for all t the great conversations and hope as I send out my little job applications, get magazines and exchange family gifts through real US mail. read more

Working as a postal professional has got to be as thankless a job as looking up cat anuses and cleaning up Belltown's barf after NYE. We only think of the post office our postal workers when something we expect in the mail doesn't arrive on time, or when we're waiting in a longgg line to mail our happy X'mas purchases (which are often not packaged correctly or at all - or we have no idea what level of service we want, because Auntie Marge in Guam won't be at home to receive any parcels between December 24 to the 31, but we're going to send it on December 20 anyway and hope she gets it, but if it's returned, it's the fault of the postal service and not of our dumbass selves). The Wallingford location has been my neighborhood post office for over 13 years. We know each other and so...yes, I'm partial to the staff and service. Granted, there are one or two people behind the counter who COULD work a tad faster, and the newbies always want to do everything by the book and take forever to double check stuff, etc. - but for the most part most of the employees there have worked there for many years and know me by name, as well as my marital status...because they incessantly ask. (ProTip = don't show up with your significant other to the post office and expect them not to notice and crow over him like he's the latest thing after sliced white bread.) With the cutbacks in the postal system, things are falling apart - the mail bin inside the post office is broken and has been forever. Instead of delegating different tasks to different workers, one worker is now expected to do all the rounds of being behind the counter, sorting mail, etc. Despite this, the workers at this branch soldier on. read more

On already 2 occasions, (keep in mind we've only lived here for 3 months), our mail was returned due to 'no such address', which is complete crap. It's so frustrating when there's nothing to do about it. When he does deliver mail, it's well after 6pm. I have had a post office box at the Wallingford Post Office for more than ten years and will not be renewing when the time comes. The last straw was this morning when I went in to pick up my mail. Upon opening the door my nose was assaulted with the STRONG smell of human waste (poop) and when I went to gather my mail I discovered a person asleep on the floor across from my post box. This is not the first time this has happened. In the past there were homeless people camped out in the building, and the trash cans had been used as toilets (perhaps I am making an assumption between the homeless people being camped out and poop in the trash cans?) When I politely brought this to the attention of the postal workers I was met with "that is not my department, you will have to call the police." I had this same conversation with a postal employee this morning and got the same answer. No wonder the postal service is having a difficult time. I will be taking my business elsewhere. UGH...people vote with their dollars and I for one will not tolerate bad customer service...BLECH... read more

Okay, nobody really likes going to the post office. It seems like universally there is one person at the front counter no matter what time of day or how long the line is. I come here once in a while when I need to go inside a post office, as it is the closest to my house. It's a fairly small branch, compared to the U district. I went in the weekend after Christmas to pick up some stamps and mail a package, hoping it wouldn't be busy because people would surely be over mailing stuff. Wrong. There was a line out the door, which was probably 6 or 7 people because the lobby is very small. There were 3 people working the front, which was nice. The line moved quickly. All the employees were friendly, helpful and cheerful to the customers they were helping. They were out of international post card stamps, which is what I wanted, but the employee helping me found me two books of other stamps that make up the same amount so I wouldn't have to leave empty handed. read more

Who is the cheapest? The post office, UPS, or Fed EX? I looked online and couldn't find a clear answer. NOW I KNOW! I took a large, 24 pound box to a UPS outlet site. They wanted $36 dollars to ship it, and assured me that I was lucky that I didn't go to the post office, because they would charge a LOT more. I didn't believe them, and decided to walk my box out the door and bring it to the good old post office. At the post office I bought a roll of tape and shipped my package for $25 dollars. ($22 to ship parcel post). It may take 10 days, but I'm not in a rush. SO...if you want value, it looks like the post office has it going on. read more

This is my favorite Post Office in the city! The workers are really friendly and have a good sense of humor. I was watching the other day as this lady tried to buy 400 stamps, and she became really crabby when she found out that they didn't have all of the options shown on the poster hanging on the wall. The guy at the counter remained calm and explained that they only had the stamps shown in the display case. She turned to him, pointed at the poster, and loudly demanded, "Then you should take that poster down!" I was like o-m-g, poor guy getting yelled at by this crazy lady! He just smiled and said, "You know, I want to, but they won't let me!" Calm as a cucumber. As crazy lady looked at the display case, he winked over at us in line as we silently applauded. So then I started eavesdropping on another conversation at the front. The Post Office lady asked the young customer (a guy), "Is that your natural hair color?" I just started laughing. He shook his head no, and she said, "Mine isn't, either!" I was cracking up. Nice people. Parking lots. Convenient location. read more

This is the best post office in the area. At other local post offices the employees are unkempt, disorganized, borderline rude, and s...l...o...w...e...r than watching grass grow. You will still wait in line at this one, but at least the clerk is wearing a clean shirt, and the wait will be less than 1/2 hour to serve the 3 people in front of you in line. Also, Sonja works there, and has the best customer service I've seen at the USPS in a very loooong time. She is astonishingly good at helping people. I sent a package filled with Christmas presents for my daughter, Amanda, and her boyfriend, David, on December 9, and I was a little concerned it hadn't arrived. Amanda called on December 18 and looked up the tracking number and saw it was undeliverable on December 16, so I called the 800 number and wasn't able to get anywhere, except to learn (by automated voice) that the package was on its way to the sender (Tennessee). It was then I realized I had sent the package to Amanda's old address and couldn't believe I hadn't changed her address in my address list. It's bad enough I can't be with Amanda for Christmas, but now it seemed like my presents weren't going to make it either. Amanda gave me a phone number of the Seattle post office where she thought the package might be. I learned it was at the Wallingford Seattle Post Office and talked to a gentleman who took my information and promised to call me back. Approximately 20 minutes later, he called to let me know Amanda's package had been forwarded to her current address. I was so relieved it wasn't on its way back to Tennessee and should arrive at her place before Christmas. Kudos to the kind gentleman at the Wallingford Seattle Post Office who took the time to find out what happened to my package and made one mom and daughter very happy. I only wish I had written down his name; I do know he is originally from Tennessee near Memphis. My daughter called on December 20 and said the package had arrived and she placed all the Christmas presents under her tree. I wasn't confident anyone would care to help during this busy time of the year, because I've encountered grumpy and rude people at the post office near where I live. My faith in people is renewed and I am grateful that someone at the Wallingford Seattle Post Office went the extra mile. read more

The wait time here is next to nadda and the location is just right for anyone in the Fremont/Wallingford area. My mail carrier delivers my mail to whoever he wants and they won't fire him. This has been going on for a year. Nobody will do anything. Lost tax documents, lost paychecks, gifts, wedding invitations. They don't care. My mail carrier doesn't care. They have no customer service. They are worthless. I called the Wallingford US Post Office to report that my mail had not been picked up or delivered for the past 2 days. I had put a letter in my post box 3 days earlier. After less than 30 seconds, the post office worker threatened to hang up on me because they said they could not do anything to help me. It's been several years since I used this post office, so my review may be a bit dated. One of my employers has a PO Box here, and for awhile it was my job to check it, which I didn't mind because I was often mailing stuff anyway. The best part of this PO is they have an APC, and the package drop off thing goes directly to the interior of the building, so it's almost impossible to fill up the way the standalone boxes do. The downside of this post office is it's a popular sleeping place for homeless people. They have to leave the lobby open 24/7 so that people can access their boxes, but unfortunately, if you want to access your box after hours, you're probably stepping over a passed out bum to do so. I never had a problem when I had to make a transaction at the counter. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. read more

I came here to ship a package to Germany. First, the line really wasn't long. Second, the woman who helped me was really super sweet and helpful. She looked up the least expensive way to ship to Europe and gave me a couple options. I ended up shipping it normal mail. To my surprise it arrived within a week and a half or two!!!!! She told me it might take a month if customs keeps it. But they didn't and it arrived in no time. I'm happy because it was a birthday gift and the person was surprised to receive it. Next time I'll be prepared with my own box. And I'll know that it will be about $40 in shipping costs to Europe. It's ~$50 for faster delivery but in my experience that's not necessary. read more
