I went to the post office this morning after not having any mail Aug 29,30, 31 and the 3rd of Sept.According to daily mail online I should have 15 pieces of may for those days. He went in back room and brought out 2 pieces of mail that I was suppose to get anyway today Sept 4, what happened to the rest of my mail they had no answers.There were 6 people in line and half of the people had the same issue as I was having, I want to know how can they not deliver our mail they are federal employees. I like the folks at the post office in Silverton very much. Always friendly, always helpful as possible. What is VERY disappointing, however, is the fact that the building and grounds, which were very nice when brand new not too long ago, have fallen into a terrible state of disrepair. There have been ceiling tiles inside the building, right over the heads of the workers at the counters, missing and water stained because of a leaking roof. The employees actually have to put buckets on the counters for the nights and weekdends during the rainy months of the year. This has been going on for almost two years now. The grass is always dead and weed-filled throughout the Summer. The bushes and shrubs outside are all over grown and not maintained. The grass is very often over grown and tall, full of weeds. The sidewalks haven't been edged in years.. I could go on and on. It is very disappointing. The Post Office is supposed to be the one business in town that is a beacon of cleanliness and order. It is no wonder that many friends have commented that they have not even been to the post office in years. It's just not a very inviting atmosphere. Every time the past few months that I've gone into the post office in silverton, I am treated rudely, by the same man. On the wall thete were notes from kids thanking him, so I don't understand why he seems rude to me. The reason why I decided to leave a review was one for the guys rudeness but he was also bickering with another woman that worked there complaining that he helped all the people that were picking up packages so he didn't need her anymore. Today I went in to pick up a package around 4:30pm. There were 4 people in front of me, he was friendly to them then it was my turn I handed in my slip. With a rude tone he told me to sign and print my name on the electronic device then he went to get my package. When he came back with my package he said they held this much longer than they have, just so you know. I explained to him that I went online to have the package scheduled to be redelivered on September 15th. On September 14th I was gone all day when I came home there was a notice on my door from The Postman saying that we missed him and that the package would be sent back to the sender on the 23rd of September. He said I don't know what to tell you about that. I left the post office feeling talked down to and embarrassed because everybody behind me could hear our conversation. I would like to never deal with him again. read more

I've only had to go in to our local post office a couple of times, but they have always been friendly and courteous (especially Dave). I have also had to call them a few times and did have issues getting a live person through their the published (800) number- but call them on their local number, and you will get right through. read more

USPS Office staff really don't care about the service they should provide. They returned my package to sender for an invalid reason. Very poor service and lack of professionalism form the usps office management read more

Feels silly leaving a review for a post office but this location needs better customer service. Have had a number of rude encounters with the staff there & honestly avoid going in now because of it. Started using Postal connections to ship via USPS because of the staff at the usps location. For someone like myself that runs a business from home, this is quite a bummer. read more

This is a pretty nice post office. It's small, but has lots of PO boxes and the man working behind the counter was fast and friendly.

My wife and I built a new home in beautiful silverton Oregon. We were fortunate that we were able to live on some property outside of town. Upon completion, the next logical step is to put a mailbox up. I did my due diligence and went to the post office here and ask what side of the street I should put it on (near the end of my driveway like everyone else has theirs). To my shock they said I would have to place my mailbox approximately 300 feet from my driveway and out of sight from my house. Remember I live in a rural part and did not feel comfortable having my mailbox out of sight from my home. I asked how I could get it at the end of my drive and the post master simply said you can't. All she would say to me is that it was a federal law that postal employees cannot deviate from their routes. My question to here was "so how did all the people in the new developments such as Abiqua heights start getting their mail? This angered the postmaster so much that she said it was a federal law that can't be changed. I asked her to show me the law and she said NO! I will mail it to you, and stormed off. Not sure how she will do this because I don't have a mail box. Oh the irony. read more
