This location closes randomly back to back and it's really inconvenient when they advertise Monday - Friday 9:30am-4:30pm but I showed up Friday , Monday , and Tuesday all during business hours and they "temporarily close" . This happens AT LEAST TWICE a week. So I'm wasting time driving to this location when I could've gone elsewhere. This post office is a joke. It truly is a gamble when they decide to be open and closed. Even when the sign says, they'll be back by a certain time, they are nowhere to be found. The employees there are also very rude and act as if they can't be bothered to do even the simplest of task. This place needs to be investigated. This place closes whenever they want to. Closed for lunch, closes early all the time. I showed up at 2pm today (Fri) and they're closed.

We have a P.O. Box at the South El Monte location for more than 20 yrs, since last year we have not received our mail early like before but last week was worse no mail was received for two day. As a company we depend on our mail which are payments from our customers and we had to place accounts on hold. Today, July 30, 2025 is happening again, I went to the post office and there is no mail. I called the main office to complaint and I am waiting for an answer but is almost noon and nothing. read more

My package return instructions didn't include having to close/box/tape my package, but according to the post office lady, I had to tape it and they didn't offer any free tapes. She talked to me in a rude and condescending manner like I was somebody who didn't speak English or something when I told her my return instructions didn't say that and it's never been an issue with UPS stores as they always taped it for me. She scanned the person behind me's package to show me that's how it's done. Therefore, I told her that's fine, I have tape in my car, so I'll wrap it up real quick and come back. I came back 3min later and she closed the office at 3:30pm when the business hours closing time for this location is supposed to be 4:30pm and many people alongside me had to turn back around. There was no need for that attitude, manner, and lack of customer service/professionalism. They inconvenienced so many people who stopped by before/after work and the time/effort it took to drive there that I had to go to another branch and waste my time in waiting on another line. read more

went to drop off a package, fast only took about 2 minutes!! Lady was nice, you can tell she was making sure people get in there in and out.

3:30 they had a line of about 30 people and he just closed the door in front of my face. schedule says it closes at 4:30pm I think they are understaffed, but USPS has to be held accountable for this poor customer service. read more

This place is so old and small! I needed to drop off a prepaid package and was hoping to just scan it in and leave, but there isn't a self service kiosk here. Luckily, the place was open so I just stood in line. There were only two employees working this morning; one young African American man and one older Asian lady who spoke Cantonese and Mandarin. They want to give you a hard time for no reason out of spite- telling me my package size is too small to send yet when I send the same package at the location in Alhambra they have no problem. Another terrible example of lazy USPS workers. The door clearly labels the lobby hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm and not a single postal worker on site at 8:45 am. Listed phone number goes to busy tone. Complete waste of my time. read more

I've been coming to this location for many years. I mail out individual books, usually 16 at a time. The girl who is usually working - Lyn - has a good personality, but does not like posting so many books at one time. She continually has given me "the talk" that other people have to wait when I come in. Today was the last straw - I walked up to her window and she refused to take me, stating that all of the other people have to go before me. One or two, ok I could have waited I guess, but people kept coming in and she continued to take them all. I finally got fed up and picked up my mailers and walked out. I went over to the post office on Valley Blvd in El Monte, and they were very cheerful and fast. Took me right away and processed them faster than anyone ever had. This is my new go to place. Ever since I moved to El Monte last year, the mail service has been terrible. I live in an apartment complex with one of those cluster mailboxes and none of my packages fit in my box, so whenever I order something from Amazon, they leave me a "delivery attempted" slip. Every time they do that, I mark on the slip to have them redelivery the package to my door, but they don't. They just leave another delivery attempted slip, then stop trying to deliver at all, which means I have to go to the post office on Saturdays to get my packages. Now it gets worse. Last week, our cluster mailbox fell over because its post rusted away. I contacted USPS on Twitter and they were very good about getting back to me, but they couldn't get the El Monte post office manager to return their calls for several days. Eventually, they spoke to the manager and found out that the mailbox is USPS-owned, so they would be replacing it for us. Well, they carted away the old mailbox, but didn't replace it, so now they're holding all of the mail for our apartment complex and won't deliver it. No one answers the phone at the El Monte office or at the customer service office in Santa Ana. Boooo, USPS, booo... read more

USE UPS OR FEDEX!! I cannot stress this strongly enough. My parents bought a house in this postal code 45 years ago and have been getting their neighbors mail the whole time. The mail comes from the houses all over their block, and from the houses with the same number on every street north and south. It's insane how inept they are. My sister is a postal carrier and she can't figure out how they manage to mess up so badly and explains to us the sorting system they are *supposed* to use. I swear, it's like they do it an purpose. Like out of spite or something. If it matters at all to you, use UPS or FedEx or at the very least have it sent to another address. read more

Always think they may improve customer service. But they always break low level of customer service This time they tell us, "other zip code packages can not be delivered here!" All the mail carriers that have delivered mail to my business have all been rude & rushing so much that they won't even wait for me to ask them any questions they just walk away & ignore me. Poor/Rude customer service. The staff there should be replaced. Customers are paying to send a package. Busy does not mean sending away customers plus treat to them like crap just because you're busy. The office is not that busy, just very inefficient and RUDE (on multiple occasions, to customers). Very small Post Office. They only open weekdays and they close at 4:30 pm. Usually no line because it never looks open but it is a lot quicker then the El Monte USPS. Parking lot is only one way in and out. read more

This US Post Office is so bad.. we have so many problems with them.. we request a pick at our office... no one show up... we try to call the office and talk to one of the manager she said she will send someone out... call her back if no one show up in 20 mins.. no one show up.. and we try to call her back.. she unplug the phone... all the way till they close.. we try to call the next day no one pick it up.. 626-443-0704.... then at 9am we call the consumer affairs office 714-662-6215 the lady said she going to take care everything for us and someone will call us back... still waiting for the call... .. I recently discovered this location en route home and thought why not. They close earlier than other locations but it's on the way. I needed my letter to be postmarked by today's date which is the only reason I went to the post office in person. This was my second visit to this location and the same mail guy as last time (I heard another customer call him Tom). He was pretending to be busy so he didn't have to work. Finally after a few minutes wait he called me over. After he stamped my letter with the date I asked if I could take a look to verify the date and take a quick pic in case I forgot whether I mailed it in time. He covered the date with his hand and said "No." I asked if he was serious because I thought he was joking. He said I couldn't take a pic. If I did I would have to pay extra. WTH?!?!?!? I get it...you sell other services but I don't need to send it certified. I just needed something quick for myself as a reminder that I did mail the letter when I should have. The USPS is a dying business and it's because of this lack of customer service that consumers are using other shipping methods. You may want to revisit your customer service manual and learn to treat others the way you would want to be treated. Lack of customer service is what kills business and you're doing a damn fine job of it. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS POST OFFICE, if you have to drive to the other one in Valley I advise you to do so. I went and dropped off a package that contained dvds and then I have my cousin calling me that she never received it. I went to the post office three weeks later which was a fair time since I paid for priority shipping, the only reason that they give me is to wait a little more. WTH!!! This was supposed to go to Santa Barbara... how long does it take for a package to get to another city within the same state!!!!! I went again this time wondering okay now I five more days and then the reason they gave me was that packages have been vanishing. Ok now what Am I supposed to do? Well they gave me the number of a detective and what I heard when I made a report was that there's several cases open of stolen packages in this location. The service from the employees to the customers is plain awful, nobody takes you seriously there, they are just like very sad zombies doing a job that they clearly hate by the look on their faces.
