This post office is in a nice, convenient location in downtown State College. This is an actual full post office as opposed to the location on campus. There are PO Boxes, and what I love most, the automated shipping kiosk. With that thing, you can ship things 24/7. I wouldn't worry too much about parking. You can usually find a spot somewhere along the street. read more

I don't understand these negative reviews. Every time I went into this post office they've been pleasant and helpful.

I am extremely upset with the State College Post Office in Pennsylvania because my envelope, sent USPS express with signatures required, was simply dropped in the mailbox without any attempt to knock at door and secure a signature. The recipient was waiting at the address and said no one knocked. The PO staff said the "signatures required" box was not checked but I have a photo of the label, showing in fact, it was! read more

We came in today for passport renewals for our kids, and I THOUGHT I prepared everything nicely. Turned out, I forgot to click the "confirm" button when making the online reservation for passport services... In other words, we weren't in the system at all. Alice was so nice and courteous to still help us with the walk-in application, despite that it was already close to 4pm and her off-duty time. She could've just turned us down and told us to come back with a reservation, but she really made our day by offering her help (and extra time). Ed, the nose picker... Everyone else at this location was most helpful but "Ed" was the number I drew. I just came in with passport photos in hand to get my passport. I am OVER 70, father born in US, I was born in US (in the same county) mother (a WWII war bride, citizenship, naturalized). I had my expired passport in hand with passport photos from AAA, my birth certificate, drivers license and a witness to verify the conversation. Apparently Ed needed to go to lunch and did not wish to be detained by submitting my application. I was told the ink is blue, the picture is unacceptable, the date on my drivers license is questionable...So I was told to go elsewhere. My traveling companion, on the other hand, with the same documents from another state was accepted...the only difference was her mother was not a warbride from WWII. I have seen racial profiling in so many places, but I never expected to be denied a passport from the very county I was BORN and raised. That really pissed me off, but HE TOUCHED ALL MY DOCUMENTS TOO!! After picking his nasty nose! read more

I lived in State College for 3 years and the Fraser Street Post Office was the workplace of the sole person in town I ever thought was racist - until I found out from Mike, the sweet old Penn State mailman whom everyone loves (based at the campus post office), that lots of other people had complaints about that guy as well. So the man technically isn't a racist, he's actually a misanthrope. In fact, my experiences with the post office were so "memorable" that even a year after moving away, I felt intrigued to see what people had written about it, and particularly that worker, on yelp! Looks like he is still around giving people a hard time. The women who work there are fine; I've received good service from them, but I'm surprised they put up with that particular coworker. The fact that everyone who works there allows him to get away with poor customer service, and doesn't try to reach out to him and help him move ahead of his viciousness and unhappiness (because really, people who are mean to others are mean because something in their lives is making them very unhappy) gives the whole post office 1 star. Maybe he's going through a terrible time, who knows? But giving him a job that allows him to spread his negative energy is not good enough. So if you're reading this review (who reads reviews about post offices??) and end up having him serve you, say a kind word to him even if he spits in your face - you never know, it might change his view of life. read more

This is the worst post office I have ever been to and some of the employees treat customers like an inconvenience. One employee would hold the door and rush people because they are closing in a few minutes. Some chat with customers at the counter while there is a long queue of people holding boxes, staring and yearning for their turn. I have worse stories... It's the closest post office for me but I avoid it by all means. Don't recommend! read more

I'm sure it's probably a waste to review a government building... but here I am! I've had mixed experiences at this location. Some were good with pleasant employees trying to help, but I'm not impressed with their manager. We had a missing package in the mail- nowhere to be found, tracking just stopped somewhere in Colorado. My husband filed a missing package report online but didn't hear anything back. I decided to go and talk with someone to try and figure it out faster. Of course the first day I tried, the manager was gone or busy so they took my name down and said he'd call me. No call that day so I went a couple days later and he was not working that day! I never did receive a call back- it's truly not that hard to dial a phone and at least tell someone there is no available information. Just anything would've been appreciated. I should've expected as much from the USPS but the manager is a person and should be able to at least talk about why the USPS messed up and try to help. read more

ALL this place is good for is losing your packages and just brushing you off whenever you call. From here on out I won't be making an online purchase unless it's completed through UPS or FedEx and i would do the same if I were you, because if its up to this office to get your package you simply won't receive it and when you call for help they won't be offering any service. I spent 2+ hours trying to locate a lost package and was brushed off every time at this location. I went in the same day the package was lost, 3 weeks later they still have no answer. The front desk workers are generally pleasant, but if you have a problem with a package there seems to be no way to get actual help to resolve it. Update: They have lost additional packages since this review was written, it is unreal how bad/inconsistent they are with delivering packages. their mailboxes are convenient to use and the location is really pretty good. But, we only use their mailboxes. For passports, go to the prothonotary in the Bellefont courthouse (at 15 min. drive and metal detector scan, it a far far better deal). for mail, go to the campus post office or to boalsburg post office. The service here is poor (it is not humor, you do not yell at foreign grad students unless you are austrian). and it shows that USPS cannot or will not monitor its service. When or if USPS closes, I'll think of this place, and think, too right. the other post offices I'll feel sorry for. If you are the postmaster general, consider this a request to clean out this post office. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I wasn't going to write this review because I'm not sure if it really matters but I've been ticked about this for quite some time now so here we are. I ordered cupcakes online, I was tracking the order but because it was food for some reason the mailing company had trouble delivering to my door. I was updated with an email that stated they had dropped my package off at the post office and I could pick it up there. I went in and was greeted by Scrooge himself, I explained that FedEx dropped my package off to them earlier that morning and I received an email to come pick it up. He asks my name and for my package number, now since it was through FedEx the package number was not the same length as theirs, instead of doing his job and looking for my package he says there's nothing he can do based off the package number and there were no packages FROM THEM to be delivered to my house (something I already knew because they weren't the people delivering). With no luck I go to FedEx, a completely different atmosphere. These people searched the place up and down and told me what I already knew, my package was at the post office that's where their truck had to deliver it to. Aggravated I go back to the post office and try to get some answers, this time I go right over to the manager, Cruella Deville. She knew exactly what I was talking about because she remembered the parcel being delivered to them (now mind you if the first man would've just gotten up out of his seat to ask about the only package that was delivered to them by FedEx ever I wouldn't have had to go back a second time). The lady get my cupcakes then walks back and asks for my ID, I hand over two forms and I'm excited to finally have my cakes, this woman tried to refuse giving me my package!!!!! She said "You know I really shouldn't give this to you given the circumstances" that being FedEx dropped the package there instead of my address, I asked how the hell I was supposed to control that? She had no answer but still wanted to give me trouble, after having to apologize for something I had zero control over she finally agreed to hand over my food. I get home after all that stress only to have all the cupcakes completely ruined and rotted because they didn't keep it how they should've and it looked like it went through a wrestling ring, so I will make sure to never ever ever have a package sent through this post office ever again. read more

Of course, no post office is a nice place to be. Not any that I've seen, anyway. This one has the usual problem: a line of 15 people or so any time any day with workers moving really slowly and others visibly doing nothing. Just a couple of counters ever working and they will give you a negative attitude at the drop of a hat. They have a lot of other problems too. Many times if you go in to get a package, they can't find it. I have also gone in and they had it but wouldn't give it to me because it was the same day as I got the notice (they don't put the packages on the truck for where I live so it is always there). Employees are happy to be rude to you. If you complain to the managers or postmaster they will make excuses but never act on anything. This place is really a drag. It's compounded by their really bad delivery service. They deliver letters ok, but if you have a package coming USPS, heaven help you. This is particularly true if you live in an apartment complex. If you live in an apartment they just drop a note in your box saying failed delivery. If you go out and talk to them you will find that they didn't put it in the truck...just assumed they couldn't get it to you. They would never come to your front door even if it's right there, either to knock or to drop the package off. If you request redelivery they just put another note of failed delivery in your box. If you take those notes down to the post office, they may not be able to get your package anyway because they have lost it or some other technicality. Doesn't matter if it is 2 day priority, signature required or not. Everything is treated the same...very poorly. The employees and especially management have a really strong "not my problem" attitude and will not go out of their way for you or address your problems if they can possibly help it. USPS is kind of a classic example of why government is horrible, but this office in particular is the worst, and there is no recourse. Let the post office go bankrupt and have UPS and Fedex do the mail is what I say. UPS here is very good, so that's how I have things shipped when I possibly can. Fedex unfortunately hands things off to the post office for delivery, so you may never get it. Oh, and be careful where you park. Some spots will get you towed. read more

These people don't give a crap about anything or anybody. This, from a Post Office serving a major college town with students that are hundreds, if not thousands, of miles from home. Supervisor said it's not their fault since they didn't deliver it even though she is working for the postal service and they are the one who screwed up. I've had people at UPS and FedEx offer to get packages off of a truck for me after hours and then apologize about inconveniencing me, but the United States Postal Service will never go the extra mile because they don't even go that first mile. I can forgive being incompetent or rude. Unfortunately, the Ocean View DE Post Office staff is both. I've had multiple run ins here. Mail not delivered, lost packages (with tracking saying it's there), and incredibly mean people. But the latest incident pushed me to write this. We live in Maryland and have a vacation home in Bethany. We accidentally had an important package delivered to our vacation home for Christmas. I called in advance to make sure it was there. After confirmation, I took off the next day (Friday) to drive the 2.5 hrs to pick it up. I arrive and no package. The Post Office attendant said, "Nothing's here." I asked inquisitively again, explained my situation, and without re-checking, the lady said, "It's NOT HERE. Don't like it? Use UPS next time." So I sat in my car and cried. And drove 2.5 hours home. Merry Christmas. Who knows where this package is. The seller doesn't know where it is, I have record of it being "held for delivery" at the office. And the post office either doesn't have it or won't give it to me. read more

I pretty much agree with Kathleen. I want to add that if you call, you will get the same attitude - hostility and rudeness. They are defensive from the get go, probably because they get so many complaints. You will be fortunate if you are able to complete a sentence because the "civil servant" on the other end will cut you off and talk over you. The phone experience is just as frustrating as that at the site. I have lived in State College for many years, and this post office has always been a very unpleasant place. Go elsewhere. read more

Awful experience every time I go there. I made an appointment to have our passports renewed. When I got there for the appointment, there was a line of about 15 people. I went up to the postal employes and was yelled at and told to wait in line with everyone else. While I waited in line, I was appalled at how rude the two postal employees were to everyone in line. I only wish that I could have a job that allows me to make appointments, not keep them, treat people like garbage and be able to keep my job. I think I would have to fire myself! read more

The service is as bad as it gets. Change of address takes forever to take effect. I had to follow my parcel for a month, and even then could not get hold of it. At the end, it was sent back to the sender. What a horrible state of service. And oh, this has happened multipel times. read more

Wow, people are tough on this place! Every time I go in, which is a lot as I have a po box there, I have a positive experience. I think that most who are complaining walk in occasionally and just take the guys' "humor" the wrong way. They've never been anything but friendly, helpful and fun to me AND to my children (who usually get lollipops)! Give them a break...there is always a line, the building is falling down around them, and they work six days a week. At least there's a little life and personality in this place! I would choose 0 star if it is an option. I don't go there if I don't have to, only when I have to pick up a package or to submit a passport application for me or my children. The line was long every time I went. There were only one or two counters open. The front desk people care less about their customers. I had experienced rude manners from them many times. In the past few times I visited, twice the man put the "Closed" sign up on me while the line was still very long. I'm not very surprised to see the poor reviews about the post office. Simply worst place in town (service-wise). Has anyone sent a formal complaint? I tried to discuss with a supervisor (lady) about the staff attitude but seems no use at all. Afternoon shift is really horrible (Dan and Ron), two grumpy men. I feel really bad when I think that they get paid from the money I spent in the post office. If you are the person who ruined the day because of the post office, submit complaint to HQ as me. Do something because you are also paying for their service! I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who complain about this office, but they don't seem to accept anything. I went in to ask them if there any possibility to re-mail my delivered package to my own mailbox from the wrong mail box during summer. She's yelled at me several times on the phone and I've watched her yell at other people in the post office.
