Next time you need to just go to the Post office, take a friend or out of town visitor here. It is definitely tourist friendly. The elevator was photo worthy but due to a time restraint I could not go picture crazy. The coffee shop was worthy to visit and grab a donut or cup of coffee but poor barista was doing a couple of jobs at one time. He was struggling to help 3 customers and my watch was ticking so maybe next time our family will come have a coffee and donuts. The post office had the beautiful historic touch and my son adds it even have a smell of history. I understood well and it was not that bad smell but it had that historical groove and you felt good vibes here. It was kind of like a Mr Roger's neighborhood flavor and modern mixed in one. I enjoyed my visit and I will definitely be back. This trip to the post office brought a new experience and excitement about Tacoma! The hospitality at the actual post office was the highlight moment. Genuine old fashioned customer service and genuine smiles. The smiles was all contagious among strangers too. It is so many hidden gems of history in this place. Please Yelpers if you come , you will get camera crazy. I started to but my husband was restless for his other errands. This post office is hard to find and it actually doesn't even look to be open but actually had good service. There was only one postal employee but he quickly handled everyone that came in all while helping me with my shipment questions and issue. He was polite, knowledgeable and even had a sense of humor which is RARE with postal workers who routinely seem to be on the verge of biting your head off for asking legitimate questions. I've been to offices with 3 workers who methodically handle each customer then walk away for 10 minutes like they're hoping the slow pace will somehow equate to less customer interaction. Overall, I've been to a lot of USPS to know that this type of service is not typical however I had to give kudos when I did experience service you should expect but sadly do not nowadays.

This location provides all that you need, whether it's just dropping outgoing mail, priority envelopes or boxes, last minute gift cards, rentable PO boxes, and so much more. I've been to this location a few times already, and each time was a pleasant visit. Their staff is always smiling and just so friendly. I used up a whole book and a half of stamps for holiday cards, and was short 4. I asked if they just sold stamps by the singles, and they sure do. Most places make you buy the whole book of them. It really made my day. Service is quick here, and that's what most of us inquire about. We all dread the long lines at most post offices. So if you need to get something done quickly, this will be your to go location!

After living in this state for almost literally forever and at different residences, I had the…read moreunfortunate situation with my mail carrier at my place after I moved there last summer, would give me my mail and then some but return at least 5 packages that were necessary and important in their own way. I stopped by when I checked in via yelp to correct the situation. On a late Saturday morning, spent about a hour in line and the ladies were kind and helpful but was told a few times I would need to fill out a green form to receive all my mail and that it would take 2 weeks to complete. I told her that Ive moved countless times and never had an establishment or a carrier not give that info or provide a form to me, as usps online is easy to update as is. Unfortunately the saga stretched up until last week when another package was returned after the fact and I called to usps to escalate the issue. The reply from the Lakewood office was quick enough but strange as the supervisor in email didnt acknowledge the error with her front end staff and carrier, didn't apologize the green form I signed was lost or for her carrier being petty and not giving the form in my mailbox as they should have been. Even us leaving notes for the carrier, it kept going. However they had me sign it again with now the carrier giving me a green form in my mailbox. Ive had at least 3 other corporate carriers find me (Amazon, FedEx, Trackit) multiple times since being here yet it seems the stigma of USPS precedes this location as well.
