I've been trying to call this location for three days now, and no one has answered the phone every time I've called. It keeps ringing and ringing and I need to get a hold of someone regarding a package that might get resent to sender. I live around this post office so all my mail comes thru here unfortunately. There have been many times when my mail is lost or missing. Some days I don't even get mail delivered or on time! Last week I was waiting for my check which was suppose to be delivered by Wednesday or Thursday. It never came. Also I recd no mail at all on Thursday. Now I'm stuck without my check and I have to go thru the hassle of having it cancelled and reissued! About a few years ago I actually received someone's iphone! Parking here is horrendous. There's very little space and the parking lot is in segments, leading to a narrow street, which makes it back up tremendously. The line is always way too long and there are only ever 3 stations open. Even at that, it's better than the post office in Old Town Torrance, about which I can say nothing positive at all. The staff at the main Post Office makes suggestions to help get your costs down. However, I have shipped items from every single post office location in Torrance, trying to find one I can rely on and so far every time 30% of my packages disappear into thin air and I have lost a lot of money as a result. I ended up having to pay a premium rate at Postal Solutions, but at least all my packages get where they're going, they'll pack them for me and the service and parking is great. Frankly, I resent that we now have to insure everything in order to it to get where it needs to go. The mechanic at my garage doesn't charge me insurance to give me peace of mind that he won't steal my car while he's working on it. Why should we have to now pay for insurance for everything at the USPS to get them to deliver our packages like they're supposed to? read more

To be honest, I was worried based upon the reviews; however, I had a pretty good experience getting my passport there. That being said, I was there 5 minutes before 9am with all of my paperwork ready to go. I had to get a money order for the payment, which was very quick, and overall, they did a great job. I was in and out by 915am. It is a little squirrely getting in and out of the parking lot, but it wasn't too bad. Otherwise, a good resort to service your passport. In addition, there was a greeter at the front that was helping folks with packages and helping them towards the kiosks for self-service. read more

Completely inept! I paid for the insurance to ship a sewing machine to Texas that I sold on ebay. It arrived there but apparently they dropped it from a very great height as it was completely bent out of shape. .This is made of steel, I think you'd have to use a car to do that! So we have to pay back the buyer (you know ebay), then WE have to file to be reimbursed by insurance. We get the machine back, it is destroyed. File the claim. They send paperwork to Texas, which is, of course, ignored (she got her money back from us). They don't have an option of who should be reimbursed by the insurance. When I finally call, they have to reopen the case. I get the paperwork telling me to bring the evidence of value to the PO in Torrance. They don't tell me to bring the item, but I do it anyway, because they are pretty stupid and I know they will ask to see it, even though they didn't ask for it in writing. It's kind of like a scam where they hope you just give up! So I bring the package, but the ONE LADY who handles insurance claims is on vacation. AND NOBODY ELSE can do the job. Twenty idiots running around that post office and nobody replicates this persons job? WOW! They take my name and promise that I will be called the next week. I call the next week, because they DO NOT CALL BACK, and this ONE LADY is still on vacation. UNREAL!!!! So now I am on hold 15 minutes waiting to talk to some other moron who will likely not be of any help. If it wasn't a matter of $340 I would have given up already. In fact, another patron told me he had the same problem and just gave up because it wasn't worth the $15 he would have gotten for the insurance. I wonder if they know how terrible their service is or how stupid they all appear to be? Just pay the for the insurance I PAID FOR!!!! Now the lady with the bad accent is back on the phone. USPS.com says this location doe not require appointment for passport acceptance. I took the day off to submit my sons passport application and a lady (who was pretty rude) said she cannot accept passport with prior appointment. There is a big disconnect between online information and what happens at each location. read more

Worst, unhappy, rudest workers ever! Stay away from this place if you can! They act like we're here asking for a favor from them! I prefer to use the kiosk everything I come here. Maybe when more people start using the kiosk, the staff will get nicer because they'll realize their job is on the line and can be replaced by machines! This is the 2nd time I am having an issue with delivery of a package in about a year's time. Delivery Confirmation says Out for Delivery even though I received my mail at noon and it's now almost 9:00pm. Both times, no notice of attempted delivery even though the package is supposed to be left in my mailbox and not require a signature. First time this happened, I went to the Post Office. The clerk wouldn't look for my package because I didn't have the notice; I had the tracking number though. After yelling at the clerk, the supervisor went ahead and searched for my package. After 15 minutes, the supervisor came back empty handed saying the mail carrier must be trying to deliver again. I waited at my house; no delivery and no notice. While I live in a very nice neighborhood in Torrance, I have security cameras around the perimeter of my house. I saved a clip of footage showing the carrier put mail in my box. No notice put on my door. No package in hand. So I went back to the Post Office the next day and experienced the same run around, even after showing them the security clip. On the third day I think the supervisor told the carrier to leave the package in the Post Office because I had "evidence". I was able to pick it up and the supervisor was quick about it too. I have a feeling I'm going to get the same runaround tomorrow when I go find out what happened this time. Better review my security footage. read more

Update. Both appeals were denied. Never received my money nor my package. Stan, one of the supervisors who said he would assist me in finding my package never got to the bottom of it like he said. He knew his mail carrier delivered my package to the wrong address and did absolutely nothing about it. This post office is horrible. Obviously, if I had a choice in who would deliver my mail, this would not be the place, Hate to mention names but I'm out $172.00. read more

Parking here is terrible. Really really profoundly terrible. However, a little ways up the street you can park on the street and it's fine. otherwise it's pretty much a solid post office. No one ever has given me guff from employees, It's still mad inefficient and all but you kind of expect that. read more

If you receive a package in south Torrance, you have no options other than to drive all the way to this main post office and pick it up. Once there, you have to wait in the long lines most of the time. Once in awhile, they will call up people who only are there to pick up packages to come to the pick-up window. read more

Shame on Torrance Main Post Office. They are the flagship and should know better when it comes to handling the mail. Unfortunately, what they did--or rather did not do--was rather quite shocking. On Dec. 20, 2014, we went to mail our Christmas cards and bill payments. Because this is the busy holiday season, we thought we should go to the main post office. However, when we got there, we noticed that the mail slots were plumb full! The mail was so backed up, anyone can reach in and take some mail if they wanted! We thought we should try the outside mailboxes. Same problem! We have heard about problems with mail theft in the past. Now we know why... the post office's lack of taking and clearing the mail slots contributes to setting the stage for thieves to just take what they want. More and more patrons were filling the lobby, everyone saying they cannot deposit their mail. Some of us peered into the closed part of the post office and saw four postal employees standing behind their counters. We knocked on the glass and asked for assistance to take the mail so that the mail slot can be freed up. BUT THEY IGNORED OUR PLEAS FOR HELP. By now there were dozens of people in the lobby. Someone offered to use a rolled up magazine to push the mail down further to permit the rest of ours to get in. Another person thought about depositing mail in the large package bins. But they would not open! One person said she did not care about mailing her Xmas cards anymore because if she had to choose what she could mail, she would rather get her bill payments mailed. We all scratched our heads in disbelief at what was happening. What kind of idiots are running this place? The post office laments over not enough revenue yet here are its denizens of patrons thwarted from doing business with it. Here's a solution: When the mail slots gets full, the postal employees need to take and clear the piling up mail. If the post office cannot handle the volume, then put a sign out that says: Sorry due to budget problems we do not have sufficient staff to process your mail today. All mail received after X o'clock will be processed the next business day. This way, patrons can safely deposit their mail and not left high and dry to wonder where to mail their bills and cards. And the post office does not have to deliver the mail so quickly. Sort of a win-win situation. In the mean time, the rest of us drove out to nearby post offices in other cities and conducted our business elsewhere. Too bad Torrance is bah humbug this year. read more

With no idea of how to renew our passports, I asked the Asian lady assigned to the passport center which form should we use, she looked at me blankly and gave me that "what are you talking about" look. Her rudeness didn't end there. She permitted her "kind" to even cut the queue! It took her forever to talk to him in their language! When finally, it was our turn, she rudely informed me and my son that we have the wrong form and that a copy of my driver's license is needed. But as she was explaining this to me, she repeatedly underlined the word "requirements" on the application form raising her voice. As it was nearly 2:00 pm, the closing time, we had no choice but to leave. She continued t o be bitchy even as we left. That Asian woman has no business to be a front liner, much less to be a so called civil servant! This is not the 1st time I encountered a rude employee in this USPS branch. I would suggest you to avoid using this post office for postal service and passport services. read more

A convenient post office for me to drive up and drop off my mail in their large mail boxes. Love the fact that they're open on Saturdays as well. I haven't gone inside the facility so can't comment on that. read more

Wow, just wow. Where do I even start. Well, for starters, the workers here need to be fired and replaced with people that are actually efficient and know what they're doing. I'm been here 4 times already in the past few days trying to find a package of mine that was "attempted to be delivered". No one gives me a straight answer and no one knows where it is. Tracking number says it's being redelivered but it's said that for the past few days even though I specifically requested for it to be held here. Lo and behold no one knows where it is and everyone seems too busy to care. I swear, the workers' attitudes here are all rude. They really don't give a f***. Just as bad as the DMV. If you want something delivered save yourself and use UPS or FedEx because the postal service doesn't give a s*** about you, your mail, or your packages. F*** these guys. read more

One of the persons I am critiquing does not work at the office. It is the person who delivers /undelivers my mail. I am missing important papers that I need to file my taxes. I know they were lost or misplaced in another mail box because I called the originators of the documents and I was told that the documents were sent to my address way back in January 2015. I have not changed my address for the past 28 years. Also, I wrote a letter to the postmaster regarding this problem but have NOT received any response. The telephone is always hung up. The one star I gave is very generous. This post office does not deserve any. (I am just wondering why 98% of the clerks are not native English speakers. Some employees are very nice, but some are just not friendly. I was in line for my passport and the lady was talking to 3 different people, when she should be helping me who fell in line. Trying to answer peoples questions when im the one she is helping is just plain rude. She doesnt realize this of course, she thinks she is helping everyone. The questions that the other people had were taking longer and I stand there waiting when Im the one she should be helping. They phone lines ring off the hook with no answer, no answering machine either. Needs improvement! read more

Lines here are always long no matter the day or time. Clerks are not very helpful nor informed. They also tend to to take their breaks at the worst times like during the lunch rush hour. It's unfortunate that other usps stores have limited hours due to budget cuts. read more

They're generally a lot friendlier and more helpful than other post offices I've been to (and I've been to a good amount).

There are several post offices in the area but this one is by far the best. The employees are helpful. Just the element of WILLINGNESS alone to assist you in your concerns may it be simple or huge is always felt every visit. I wish all branches would follow their lead. read more

I've had to come here probably 8 times in the past and I always dread it. The people who work here have such bad attitudes and are extremely rude. When you tell them they lost your package or it didn't arrive on time, they take it personally and become very defensive - which is strange. One time I had to talk to a 'Supervisor', which was a joke. She was rude and told me the wrong information about how to get a refund and a wrong phone number. Said she was positive I would get a refund. So I wasted my time because guess what? That was the wrong info and I did not get a refund. They came up with every excuse in the book. This place is a nightmare, avoid it if you can! They always mysteriously have packages go missing, so if they're being stolen they are stolen internally. read more

I can see why this post office has such a low rating. The one very tall and bulky employee, don't know his name, seemed to be in charge but how is beyond me. He actually takes pleasure in being rude and having difficult customers- as he even stated this fact to another customer after an upset person left outraged. Though I was not combative as I saw what occurred between them, when I did get up to the employee myself, he saw my package and was like nope we can't accept that in that box(one of theirs) with that address in a short abrasive and rude manner as if I was disturbing his day by bringing the incorrect thing. I tried to ask for clarification, so that I could bring it appropriately and he just continued to be brash and exhibit some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. Now while I don't go to the post office expecting high customer service, I do expect human kindness and help to send my package- not being rushed out and almost scolded. I went to this place today because I received a response letter from Crystal Hicks one of their customer representative saying that " they have exhausted their efforts to locate my package and they cannot compensate me", when I filed lost mail through USPS website. They lost my mail (old and new passport and some important documents) I am supposed to go home in June but they messed up all my plans because they delivered my passport to a wrong zipcode. A guy name Glenn help me to track the mail and he find out that it was delivered to a different st. (He even show it to me where it was delivered) then Glenn talk to the supervisor, but when he comes back he told me that the supervisor cannot do anything about it and he even gave me a printout of the place where did they delivered it but this time it didn't show that it was sent to a different st. These people are LIARS and LAZY!!! How come Glenn find out where it was delivered but Crystal Hicks even used the words Exchausted when it's clearly she didn't do anything to trace my mail. I will never stop until justice served. I will escalate this to the higher level and I will even talk to their postmaster. These people should be fired by not doing their job and by lying to their customers. I filed fraud alert already and now I'm waiting for the district supervisor to call me. read more

This is the main post office for the area, so sometimes you can't help but go here. There are some perfectly helpful people working here. But, there are a few that treat me with condescension and resentment every time I go here. If I could go somewhere else I would, but sometimes it's not an option. Just walking in the door makes me cringe sometimes. Last week I had to drop off a package and get a receipt. After waiting in the always long line, I got to the desk and told the gentleman that I was dropping off packages and requested a receipt. Without looking at me, he kept staring out the window, threw my packages in a box on the floor and said "you're done." I'm not sure what I did to offend the guy, but he wouldn't even look at me or speak more than a couple words to me. I guess this place is just one of those places that you have to put up with sometimes, but seriously, that kind of attitude will get you fired from a respectable business. read more

This morning as I was leaving for work I witnessed a mail carrier delivering a package to my neighbor on Faysmith Ave. The mail carrier got within 3 feet of the porch and then did an overarm toss of the package onto the porch. I shouted out, "Great, you are throwing packages now?" She did not know that she was being watched and turned quickly to see who yelled and then ran to her truck and sped off without looking. I tried calling the post office to complain, but the phone line just rang and rang. I am at work and don't have time to find out if anyone will every pick up. So they don't answer the phone and they throw your packages. Your service is not any better than UPS or FedX. Great way to stand out. I hope this is not typical of all mail carriers. read more

I went to pick up a package at this location and the person who took care of me was extremely rude and out of his head, his name was Eddie and when I tried to ask for my package almost close the door on my face, I insist I wasn't done yet and told him what the issue was not even 30 seconds later rolled the eyes to me and said we'll this is Christmas right so nothing I can't do! And tried to closed the door again and said I got the info you guys sent me here! When my package will be ready is perishable so if something happen to it who will be to blame then? And he told me then you fill a complain and literally closed the door. Even people around me waiting agrees with me he was out of hand. Such a jerk! Finally I talked to another lady was very nice to explain what happened to my package and gave me a complaint form. What are the postal service doing here hiring people like him! I came to this post office as being very rudely treated by my local Lomita on Narbonne post office. I was mailing a needlepoint that was handmade which I worked over a year on...at Narbonne I asked if it could be insured, I was told yes for whatever amount I wanted...when I asked if the package was lost and it was insured for $1000 would I be paid $1000....I was told no as without a receipt nothing would be paid...now why in the world knowing what I was mailing would I be told about insurance? The employee at Lomita continued to make a bad situation worse. So I left there and came to this post office where the very nice supervisor explained that handmade items cannot be insured as a value cannot be substantiated...this makes perfect sense...I mailed the item from there on a Thursday and the receipt indicated a delivery about Monday to a suburb to Seattle, WA. When on Tuesday or Wednesday it hadn't been delivered and the online indicated it was still in transit from CA 4 days ago to WA I became concerned so I went back to Monterey Street post office...the same supervisor explained to me that since many postal clearing houses have closed, mail is taking longer and assured me that it should arrive by Friday, which it did. I told her I had complained online to the post office about Lomita, and that I wasn't satisfied with how my complaint was handled. She told me she had also told here supervisor about it. I can't remember what her name is, but the Monterey Street post office in Torrance is absolutely the bomb and should be commended for their customer service...Lomita employees, including the supervisor, should be sent to this location for training, or they should all be fired...they don't seem to realize without customers, the station will eventually be closed and they won't have their secured job. read more

Yesterday I came to this location to send out my Christmas cards along with my kids' pictures for my parents and friends who live overseas. Since I thought that USPS was usually busy around year-end and I didn't want to wait in the line for a long time, I came about an half hour before it opened and luckily got the third spot in the line. When my turn came, the female clerk whose clerk number 25 (looks mid 40's kind of heavy-set Latino with semi-long bob hair style) was assigned. I explained that I would need to send 7 separate mails for international and one for domestic and nicely lined up all the envelops right in front of her so that I could make her work easy as much as possible. She just didn't say any words and very impolitely threw out 8 global stamps and one domestic $0.47 stamp on the counter without even measuring each mails' weigh, then she urged me to leave with the stamps and my envelops by her calling the next customers. Because of her attitude and the way she handled me, I couldn't trust her service and decided to get in the line again to ask for the clarification from another clerk. This time, the male clerk whose clerk number 20 ( looks mid 40's South East Asian with a little dark skin color) helped me and thoroughly explained to me about what was wrong of the female clerk's service. He was very friendly and professional, and I really appreciate his help. The female clerk who gave me the attitude and sloppy service should need to get the job training and to make sure if she understands what she is supposed to do in her work. Also, please mirror after her colleagues (like the male clerk who helped me) so that she would start providing the normal or even good service. I am going to file the official complaint with USPS now and do wish she would learn the lesson. read more
