2 years living on lilac road and as a previous carrier who has seen it all I can tell you what this guy is doing. We get email notifications of what is coming that day. What we end up getting at least seventy percent of the time, is junk mail, none of our actual mail. Because he's not sorting the mail or at least not sorting all of it, and then we're probably at the end of his route on top of that. So he just throws our mail back into outgoing mail. And then it loops around back at the distribution plant, and usually never shows up, because the stamps have already been scanned. This month it has cost me $3000. And I'm going to be calling the postmaster about this. Not to mention the late fees from missed payments, Because my checks keep not showing up. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This guy needs to be fired Immediately, i know it's a guy I've seen him. read more

Not enough staff, not enough parking. Always, always busy processing passports. They take appointments from anywhere, even Orange County. Why on earth they would do this when they don't have the manpower to service their VC customers is beyond me. I sometimes make 2-3 runs to the post office before I can get in! Accessibility: disabled parking right in front of the store as well as a drive-thru mail drop. The ground is flat getting to the building and the door to enter is a pull door. Inside it is a small post office so you will be closer than six feet from others most days unfortunately. I went to VC Post Office on Monday, 6/16/25. Grace waited on me and I complained that there were problems getting my mail. I submitted a mail forwarding document to the PO on 5/15/25 with the order to start on 5/17/25. Grace said it took 3 weeks for an order to take effect. I told her I'd been at the PO weeks earlier and was told it took 7-10 days so why was she telling me 3 weeks? No answer to that. Then I showed her a picture on my phone of mail that was addressed correctly to me at 13604 Woodstock Place in VC, but the PO returned it to sender saying it was undeliverable as addressed (even tho the address was correct - see picture). No answer to that. She had me write out my complaint which I finished, but then she helped another person at a different window and left me standing there. I had to get her attention and asked if she wanted my completed paper. She took it and went to walk away. I asked her name, twice, but she ignored me both times and kept walking away. I asked another postal worker at a different window what her name was and that's how I found out it was Grace. She was unhelpful, discourteous, and totally rude. read more

Been here 7 years, and they don't buzz my gate, they leave the package in the street by the gate and never use the access code (Included) to automatically open the gate and deliver packages, or they could BUZZ the gate, as I'm always home and I would let them in. ON answering the phone the reply is, "Oh we don't do that!" Meaning they don't use gate codes or have the courtesy of buzzing the gate for me to let them in. I'm handicapped, and sometimes they TOSS the packages over the gate. FOR A U.S. POST OFFICE this is pathetic, unacceptable, and a sham on America. I'm fed up with Valley Center P.O., their lazy employees, who could not give a darn about their patrons. read more

Definitely the worst service ever!! The guy that named "Moody" has zero customer service skills. I had an appointment 2:30 for passport. Got stuck in traffic arrived 2:45 they waited in the line until 3:10 and then it's My turn on the line. The best experience that I've had. Cynthia helped me with the process of renewing my passports for all 5 of my kids. I've gone to other places and they've been extremely rude to me. Been to this location a few times over the years and have always received excellent customer service. Their staff work diligently to get packages in and out of their location. although parking is very limited I tend to drop in when it's not as busy even during the peak holiday season. I prefer visiting this location as it's not as hectic as the others that I frequent. as always service is provided with a smile and never hear any complaints. I just wish they had a/c in the lobby as it does get very hot in there. I like that they have all the shipping supplies really available as well as all the priority boxes and envelopes they never run out. if you're a collector of stamps or even the greeting cards they have these items as well. Valley Center post office. Packages get left by the mailbox on the street 350 feet from my house. Neighbors mail delivered to me and my mail delivered to them quite often. Certified letter notices that read "sorry we missed you, no one home" left in mailbox, meaning that the carrier never bothered to drive up to the house to check if anyone was home which my wife was/is. Upon calling the valley center USPS was told that if the carrier hears dogs they do not have to get out of their vehicle. I have 2 dogs (bot h small and harmless) that are in the back yard behind a fence... this post office needs an overhaul or at least some oversight. People are paying for delivery service not a notice to drive to the USPS and pick up your package/letter. read more

I dropped off some prepaid packages to be mailed on Saturday afternoon. It's Tuesday and I see they still haven't been scanned when I came to drop off more, and anyone with long arms could simply reach over and steal them from the cart. Do not rely on this location for anything business related, they have no accountability. I waited in line and asked the poofy haired old lady up front why my packages aren't inventoried and out in the open, she said "nobody has gotten to it yet, but they will." When I asked again for a timeframe, she just said "whenever they get to it" and called the next person in line. I will gladly take my business to Pauma from now on. read more

Our daughter was expecting a mail delivery of a very important document. We received notice that the document would be delivered by USPS on Mon 6/10/24. We watched the postal worker drive by our house, deliver our other mail in our box & wrote out an explanation that the document couldn't be delivered in a secure manner. We were home if they rang our bell at the gate, but that was never attempted. The postoffice has our gate key they could of opened our gate or just like right now, a day later, the gate is open, they could of just threw it over the fence like they did right now. I see the postal worker documented they delivered the document on the porch, which is another lie. We watched the entire thing happen & it's on camera as well. They weren't even close to that location. You need to do better VC postoffice. No more fraudulent documentation about our mail. It's not the first time this has happened to us & I'm sure others as well. read more

The people working at the counter in the post office have been nice & helpful. However, it's the carriers from this post office that I have a HUGE problem with. Every week, us and/or other neighbors on our street are having to hand deliver mail to the addresses the mail was supposed to go to. Some neighbors have said they don't feel comfortable leaving the mail at a doorstep if no one answers the door, & they put the mail in the outbox or take it to the post office. This has been going on for years! Some weeks worse than others...possibly depending on who the carrier is at the time. Our neighborhood has community mail boxes, with last names & addresses on each mail slot, and still the carries will put the parcel key in the wrong residence box! It is absolutely ridiculous. Whatever their system is, it is NOT working. So many of us have not received important documents through the mail, or have received them late, or accidentally opened by neighbors. The photograph I included is a pile of mail that was in my mail box for one day, that actually should have been delivered to MULTIPLE addresses and people. Letters regarding jury duty, insurance, and their security systems, among other stuff. Maybe they should start delivering house to house, so they have time in between houses to check the address on the items before they go in mail boxes. read more

If I could give the local (Valley Center) USPS carriers a minus 2 I would. I tracked a package that said it was delivered. Could not find it. I had seen a delivery vehicle pull up about 6pm, went out to the gate, could not find my package but found the property owners packages thrown out in the dirt near the road but mine was no where to be found. Went back up to the road this morning in the daylight and still couldn't find it but then spotted something in the bushes out of sight. Pulled it out and low and behold it was my package. Tried to call the Valley Center office, which is my delivery office, multiple times and no one ever answers. I'd like to file a complaint but USPS.com doesn't make that easy either. I could drive to the post office but I'm on the way to my veterinarian to have my pet euthanized and don't have time to waste on a drive several miles away. read more

We've had over $300 in mail theft because of our packages being left by the gate. We keep our gate open when we know there will be packages delivered. Yet they still leave by the gate. Then we had a sign made to tell them to deliver to our garage, and they started leaving the packages by the sign. Then we paid $100 to have more signs made, detailing why we need them delivered to our garage, and to go straight down the driveway to deliver them. AND THEY STILL KEEP LEAVING THE PACKAGES BY THE GATE! WTF?!! It's easier to turn around in our driveway than it is to try to turn around by our gate! I don't get it!?!?! Please just deliver to our garage! There never used to be a gate there and they delivered to our house. They never delivered to a dirt hill before. Why now? This is ridiculous! Just do your job! They DON'T deliver my packages. Some moron says he/she can't find my house (funny, UPS, FEDEX, EDCO, etc etc CAN find it), so they take my packages to the post office, and there they sit, forever, or until they return to sender-- who knows. They don't even leave a notice about it. I only find out when the sender informs me. They DON'T ANSWER the phone. When I know a package was not delivered because the moron states he could not find the place, I cannot even call the post offfice. It's a 15 mile trip. This post office constantly goes to the WRONG GATE to try and deliver packages. We have a gate specifically for deliveries that we keep open and whenever our regular postal worker is off, they try to go to the Main gate which only has key code to enter. Our delivery gate also has an orange sign that clearly says "deliveries". So most of our mail and packages are delayed with message of "delivery attempt not able to access residents front door". SO FRUSTRATING! read more

Kudos to the office staff!! I received notice that a "delivery attempt" was made (I was home all day). I contacted the office which in turn contacted my carrier. My package went out with the wrong carrier. (I guess they considered this an "attempted delivery"...lol.) Next morning I called and requested the carrier leave my pkg. and I picked it up at the PO. Our carrier doesn't deliver to us on Mirar de Valle until after 4pm anyway. I picked up my pkg. by 10am. Sweet. I won't pay for a PO Box, but do most my business online. Postal employee are great inside the office. Only complaint is the mail carrier who refuses to delivery packages to my home. Been fighting with them for over years . He says it's a safety issue won't back up 50 ft. and I use abusive language to him which is not the truth. I could write a long letter about this person but leave it at that. The issue of the gate locked is correct but It was open from November 23, 2022 till October 23, 2023 due to inside home work by contractors. Not one delivery and gate was open. I have contacted all of my represent Ives state and local but themselves being government employees your lucky to get response from their voice mail. Also the rules and regulations are typical government response. Whatever benefits them not the taxpayers. Here's my simply reply. Yep gates closed but UPS, FedEx, Wal-Mart and other private delivery services have to problem leaving packages and backing up 70 Ft. To turn around. They been doing this for years and no incidents reported. I am 84 years of age, a disabled veteran with 80% hearing loss it is not only inconvenient but a problem driving 3 miles almost every other day for packages. How long I can do this don't know. They have a solution. Call and we will help you. I have gotten nothing positive or helpful from three postal supervisors. My only solution is for UPS to take over the postal services. They know how to use a reverse gear. Again postal employee are great except their leadership. read more

I have lived in Valley Center for 21 years. Before that I've lived in five different counties here in California. I have never had more letters lost by a post office in my life then here in Valley Center. I highly recommend You mail all letters especially bills in Escondido and do not drop them in the Valley Center mailboxes at the post office or in your mailbox. I've had to stop payment on two bills just in the last 60 days and 3 others in the last 2 years that were lost here and Valley Center at our post office!!! read more

This place is great if you want to avoid long lines and want fast service. I came here to try to ship out a package but didn't know what I needed to do to get this done. The lady at the register helped me out and told me what I needed to do to get my package shipped out. I was returning a defective product and I had a paid return label. The lady suggested to find a small box that would fit my product. I didn't have one on me so I would've had to go find one. But luckily the lady was nice enough to go find me a small box to use. She was very informative and helpful and I was glad that she was helping me out. I'll probably have to come back here to finish shipping out my box as I needed to find something to stuff the box with. The line was extremely short on a Saturday. And again something that was supposed to be delivered on Sunday wasn't. It appears that my parcel traveled around Valley Center for about 10 hours, but wasn't delivered to me. The reason that the Valley Center Post office gave to Amazon for non-delivery is that my mailbox was full. NO. It wasn't full. In fact, the mail box was emply, AND the package that had been traveling onto the delivery truck for a 10 hours, non-productive trip, was TOO BIG for the mailbox, so they just made up an excuse for their failure to deliver my package to me on that day. The Post Office delivery employees have two location options. On is onto my covered front porch, and the other is in (or at least on top of) a container that is specifically made for parcels and mail. So, no reason at my end to declare a non-delivery due to anything other than someone assigned that Postal Person too many deliveries in one day, so delivery was doomed from the moment my Sunday delivery was loaded into the USPS truck early on Sunday. This is at least the THIRD TIME that a package destined for my house was not delivered for invented reasons. I'm going to notify Amazon to be sure that they don't make promises they can't keep because the USPS in Valley Center, CA cannot keep up with the work load. This actually is not a direct criticism of our local Post Office as much as it is a "heads-up" to my neighbors in Valley Center to not expect packages to be delivered on a Sunday, therefore surprised IF a package does show up. read more

I give the elderly lady 5 stars & I give one star to the person in charge of shipping in the USPS office Mail in Valley Center because I never get my mail on time. It was completely lost once coming from FedEX & I was told mail coming down from Oregon & Washington is slower. an event ticket was sent from Washington last Friday & it is Saturday today. At the same time a money order was sent from Texas on the same day & they can't find the event ticket. That's 8 days. I mention this because There was a confusion with the mail from Texas & I had to go up to the counter with a piece of paper because I was just added to the mailbox to get it so I begged them to double check for the other envelope and they wouldn't. What bugs me next is that I had to go back in to double check for the event ticket for today I am missing and she had to help one more customer after me that had a pink piece of paper for a package (because she opened the door to talk to me). Then I heard her talking to the other girls about how they misplaced his package behind my box but they meant miss organized his large package. Then the head lady that talked to me told him they almost placed it somewhere else they weren't supposed to (I held the door open for the man and smiled at the lady) I also give the man that has a beard 5 stars & the other gentleman one 1 star read more
