I went to Skyline Recycling on 5/13/25. First time there and I found a place to park convenient to the scales. I processed my items one at a time to see how they were paying. First up was aluminum cans--pretty straight forward. I had 194 cans with a CA CRV value of 5 cents each or $9.70. Based on Skyline's rate of $2.13/pound, I received $12.78 which was 31.75% more than the straight CRV value--pretty good. Next up glass bottles. I only had 19 regular bottles and three large so the CRV value was $1.25. I'm not sure exactly how to read the receipt, but I was given $2.93 or 134% over CRV value! So far so good. I had 32 small (4 oz) plastic water bottles that I had segregated from the 8 ouncers as I was thinking the lighter weight would result in a lower value. I was expecting a CRV value of 1.60 (32 x .05), but they actually gave me $2.93. Again, much better than the CRV value. I had 85 750 ml wine bottles with a CRV value of $8.50. The payout was pretty close at $8.62. I had 84 large plastic bottles with a 10-cent CRV each. Straight CTV would have been $8.40, but they gave me $10.60 instead or 26% over CRV. Things went off the rails a little with the regular water/soda plastic bottles. I had 373 which at CRV value should have been $18.65, but for some reason I only received $14.25. No idea what happened here. Payout was in cash of course and was out of there in 20 minutes or so. read more

Smaller set up which isn't a bad thing. The bins are all standard size trash cans so that's challenging but workable. Back in and unload....see the man to weigh everything and go get your money. Pretty straight forward. Not too busy so it was laid back as I loaded up 14 trash cans with smashed plastic bottles...haha had been saving them for years! Never again! It's the best recycling center I have found in the area, but it's not what you would write home about. The location is very limited with parking spaces and you have to watch for a while before you understand what is expected - total separation of everything in the provided garbage cans. I was actually prepared for that, but many people weren't, so they separated while taking up space and make the entire experience take much longer than it should for everyone. All in all, it's really the only place to go if you want to recycle your bottles and cans and recover your CRV, but it is not what I have experienced when living in East Coast cities. read more

This is the place I've been coming to to redeem my recyclables for the past few years. There used to be a bigger yard on Mission, but they stopped taking CRV some time ago and only do scrap. Found this place afterward and my experience here has always been generally good. The staff is friendly, and tries to keep things moving quickly. Not always easy working out in the heat all day like they do. The only reason I took off a star is that there is very little parking, and it can be tight getting in and out of there. That said, I think there's only been one time that I actually had to sit in the car and wait for a space to open up. As long as these guys stay open, and I'm still in Escondido, this is where I will come! read more

Do not come here. Customer service sucks and they are dishonest!! I never liked this place and used it as my back up recycling place. Well, not any more!! They would always tell me " oh we don't take this here" and then would check with a manager who would tell them to pay me for it when I would bring in my scrap bin crv plastic!! (They would say they wouldn't pay for it but we could discard it there! Go figure! They're making money on it but don't want to pay you!) Always check your receipt!! They tried not to pay me today for the amount. They didn't even say anything about "not taking it" so I was caught off guard. I happened to not check the receipt but realized after I left that they didn't even have the non crv plastics I brought and sorted through on there!!!! It's usually only about a few cents but better than nothing. When I called, the guy on the phone said he would have then work on it even though he warned me that it wouldn't be much. I told him that would be fine. I brought in 2 of their trash cans full of the non crv plastic. When I got to the pay reimbursement window, I thought they would have my ticket ready. Of course not. Customer service sucks here. He said they were "still working on it". That was 10 minutes before when I had called and there was no one there except 2 - 3 cars. I decided not to wait on his lame "they're working on it" answer and go ask and confront the guy who took in my recyclables in the first place. He, in fact, had my ticket ready and was not "still working on it". The dollar amount was "zero" of course and he had NOT separated out my #1, 2, 5 scrap plastic that I had actually taken the time to sort through and organize! He had one blanket 9 lbs of PET scrap. Go figure. He tried to give me the reason the reason that my ticket was "zero" was because the price of plastic had "gone down". The guy at the window actually had the nerve to tell me "it wasn't worth his time" to go check on whether the guy actually had weighed it or not. Talk about poor customer service! I later called around to find out it how much people are paying out for non crv plastic and found it to be 2-5 cents per lb which it always been! Plus, for the supposed 9 lbs that I brought in, i should have gotten back at least 18- 45 cents. I don't care if it's a small amount, it's the principle that they are dishonest. If they are dishonest in little amounts, you can be sure they are dishonest on larger amounts!! Trying to write me off and tell me that "it's not much" or "the price of plastic has gone down" so I got "zero" is totally dishonest!! Oh, and there was a person that came for the first time to recycle. 2 large trash bags. They didn't tell them they could count some of the plastic or aluminium. They just took them in and devoured their goods so they could pay them as little as possible. Oh on top of the dishonesty and lack of customer service, they make you back into the parking spaces (and there aren't many of them.) They are sticklers about you backing up and sorting your recycling near their weight machines. I don't need more stupid rules. Do yourself a service and go to go green recycling (really nearby) who pay more for glass and have way exceedingly better customer service, more parking spots, and don't make you back into the spots and you can do your sorting anywhere around your vehicle you want to! While its normally pretty busy here and the parking definitely sucks, there is usually no lack of empty cans and the they get your weighed and sorted out quickly...I mean nobody really wants to spend all day here so that is the most important part. Make sure you have your recycling sorted and for those plastic bottles, make sure the lids are off... or you will have fun taking them off there! read more

Get PAID to recycle. I use Skyline to recycle my plastic bottles and cans. If it's not busy someone usually comes out and helps you unload your car. They've recently upgraded their ticketing system so it's a pretty smooth process to get paid. Tip - After you get your money have lunch at Cocina Del Charro across the street. read more

My first visit to this place since moving into area...I was extremely disappointed 10 cents per pound taken off because cans were a little wet from being in bags. NEVER in all my years of recycling, have I had this happen. I rinse, clean all items and then smash all cans, so they are clean and take up less space. The place I went before moving here was always so thankful my items were pre-sorted and clean. It's impossible for cans to be completely dry, so this place is just ripping people off. I won't be back and I plan on reporting this issue. read more

Crappy employees and crappy location. They offer hardly any parking. Centers behind grocery stores are much better! Faster also. Even the so called owner was completely rude about it all. They harassed me because I was parked somewhere where they say no parking. There were no signs stating this but I left anyways. They didn't say anything to the Hispanic guys who illegally parked their landscaping vehicle in the handicap stall which was violating actual federal laws. I bring it up to them on todays phone call and her response was she didn't care and to take her to court for violating ADA laws. If you're Caucasian, they will profile you and treat you completely different than the Hispanic customers. This is the first time in 37 years I've experienced racism as a white guy. These people don't deserve to be in business and are a waste of space! read more

Just happened to drive by with a ton of recycling in my car and stopped here. Sure glad I did! These guys were so nice and helpful, they actually unloaded everything, sorted it for me and I was out in less than 10 minutes! They give you a descent amount of cash for you recycling and take all sorts of glass, metals and so on, best place I have come across, worth a stop! read more

I will NOT come back here again!! This place is a joke they are stealing our money. I had to go this place Bcz Poway quality recycling was closed earlier so first time ever I tried this place. I brought bunch of cans and bins with our big vans. I usually I get pay $40 with the half size of I brought today this joke place. I had to use 12 buckets to scale our cans and bins. I tried this place for the first time today. The staff is friendly enough, but they don't honor their coupons. They had a .$05 more per pound, on aluminum cans, that was advertised on their website which is why I went there today. I printed it out and handed the coupon to the weighing operator. When I got the printout I went to the cashier and noticed the coupon was not included. I told the cashier I had presented the coupon to the weigh station operator to which he responded "okay". They still cashed me out at the same amount. In the scheme of things it wasn't really very much. But if you're going to advertise something I think you should honor it. Oh yeah, and the weigh operators have a tip jar with a sign on it. That was a first for me also. I don't think I'll be going back here. read more

First of all, their customer service is great. They are friendly and helpful. And they told me we don't have to take the caps of the plastic bottles if they are empty. I have been there many, many times and never had a problem. They take electronic but they don't pay for it. I don't mind waiting but it's usually not too bad. Worst experience I ever had recycling my cans today employee didn't want to take my cans he said they smelled like urine!!! I work in the health industry I definitely know what urine smells like.. When I arrived I started sorting my bottles out trying to group them the rude Hispanic that grabed my stuff just moved them out of my way didn't even tell me what he was doing when I told him that is my stuff he was way beyond rude and even mean looking to me. The entire experience there was no communication when I got my cash I told the low educated clerk there I want ones not the 2dollar bill he gave me, it took 10 min for me to just get a freekin bill all in ones, are you kidding me. Won't definetly be coming back here again city of Escondido should look into this place and maybe possibly condemned it to the ground the way I was treated. read more

Admittedly, I don't frequent recycling places, but this one seems ok. It can be pretty a quick and painless process IF you pre-sort everything ahead of time - they sort glass by color. Service is good (although there can be a bit of a language barrier), and they now have tip jars which is a little weird to me. admittedly I haven't ventured into many recycling facilities... But I have come to this one a few times. Its quick and easy. I recommend you sorting out your bottles and cans before you get there so you don't have to stand there and do it. I never do - but regret that decision while there. There is a faint odor of the-stuff-left-in-the-bottom-of-the-bottles-and-cans-that-went-nasty about the place. Especially pungent on a hot summers afternoon. They sort glass into clear brown and green. They also have a coupon on their website if you have lots of cans. Also be prepared that you are going to need to reverse into a parking spot in close proximity to a bunch of other cars. (and occasionally a guy with a trolly - or cart or whatever I am supposed to called it here in the US.) All in all it's a good facility. read more

Very friendly service and good prices. In regards to the previous poster's concerns about the honoring of the coupon, if you have a lot of aluminum, you automatically get the coupon price on your payout. On the printout, you will not see a separate line for the coupon on the receipt, but you still got it. That's probably what happened. Me and my wife are disabled we parked on the disabled parking and one of my tire was slightly on the white line,the Hispanic guy who worked on the scrap metal computer immediately told me moved my vehicle,I moved my vehicle and I noticed 2 other pickups which belonged to l Hispanic occupants were way across on the white line.i asked him why they not asked move or park property he said "f*ckin who the f*ckin are you to f*ckin tell me to how to park the f*ckin the f*ckin cars f*ck you mayete (N word in Latino)" .He continue to shout at me to go put my handicap plackard as he noticed I didn't have one without checking to see i had handicap plates which I informed him and if he wanted to check to verify. I went to the office asked a Hispanic lady to talk to a Mgr she said i she the owner and she yelled as I tried to-explain I felt was profiled since I was the only African American insulted and called all kinds humiliating names.she said I was in the wrong I pointed on the other trucks parked across the lines.we were insulted and humiliated and treated like cabbage by racist employees of Skyline Recycling!!! read more

I go here regularly. It is very busy on Saturdays, and hard to get a parking space. If you come near the closing time it is usually less occupied. Glass bottles have to be sorted by color in their smaller waste cans. And they will give you $2 dollar bills, for some reason. Maybe they get them for $1.90? best recycling center in Esco. Efficient, fast, friendly, professional & open during stated hours. I tried many times to recycle closer to my house, which is a little stand behind a grocery store. That place is never open, the worker was on a few occasions about to go to lunch or on lunch, do out if half a dozen tries only could recycle there once or twice. read more

I love this recycling center. Compared to some other places I have been to it is much cleaner. They are helpful and fair. It is definitely a good idea to presort your own stuff before bringing it down. That makes it quicker, and it is easier for everyone. It isn't a big deal to presort your stuff according to color of glass, kind of plastic, etc., as I do it for a busy restaurant. read more
