It's the post office. Outdated, long lines, grumpy and frumpy employees. Going to the Post Office or DMV is like going to the emergency room...no VIP status recognized...the great societal equalizer (unless you have people for that, which would be weird in the case of the emergency room...) It gets the job done and you can get a passport in a reasonable amount of time. I should give this 4 stars...but I tend to not like government overlords, so I'll punish the Post Office on Yelp like a reasonable person! read more

The absolute worst post office I've ever had to deal with. I've waited 2+ months to get keys for my mail box and have repeatedly been handed the wrong set of keys to my mail box, gone in numerous times after being called for the right set of keys only to be told they don't have them or the person who does have them isn't around to give them to me. Also just because they say they open at 8:30 doesn't actually mean they open at that time. Smh. read more

The worst service. My address was wrong on a website so it shipped to the wrong street. I notified a supervisor and he said it was out on another route, but it would get corrected and delivered. Well the tracking showed it was sent to Portland Oregon, and now its in Seattle. Its time sensative so it may be expired before and if it gets delivered to Vancouver, WA. read more

This is the worst place to contact if you have an issue. Not only are calls not answered (and go to hang up) but when you can actually speak to someone, they are useless and put you on hold until they leave for the day. If I did not have to, I would never use this location. The management of this place is reflective of why government should never be involved in customer service. read more

Having to wait 40 minutes to pick up a package that was supposed to go in my PO box. Why don't they have a separate line for that? It happens every single week. I understand being short staffed but come on, when I run in to get my mail from a box I pay a fee for I shouldn't have to wait in line with people who can't operate the self shipping kiosk just to have a package handed to me. They have special lockers for packages that are too big for your po box that they leave you a key for. I've had this po box for 12 years and they have NEVER ONCE used one to get a package to us. read more

I have used this postal station for over 15 years. The experienced and the new staff there always offer awesome services. Only one time did I have a bad experience and I asked that person if they were having a bad day. She said yes and immediately smiled, apologized and I assume treated others nicely. read more

This post office is useless. We weren't home to receive an unexpected letter on behalf of a friend. Happy to pick it up at the Caples Street office, we consulted the information on the card the driver left. The package retrieval number didn't work. Didn't even have the right number of digits. The number for the Caples Street office didn't work. As I write, we've been on hold for over 50 minutes, with the message repeating every so often that representatives are serving other customers. Pull the other leg. Remind me why the USPS still exists. read more

Dont call the number, it doesn't connect to an operator. Don't try to set a passport appointment, there is no phone operator. My apartments haven't received our mail for over a week because the mail lady refuses to deliver to us. I swear this can't be legal. No written notification from post office saying mail will stop or how to get it. I've been here nine years and never seen something like this. read more

First, off, the hours listed here are pretty far off. The hours are actually M-F 9-5:30, Sat 9-2. It's always VERY busy, but this is not the staff's fault. don't go in expecting to leave within 10 minutes if you need to go to the counter. It's usually longer than that in my experience over a few years going in a couple of times a month or more. Pro-tip: I find the shortest lines tend to happen between 5:00-5:30, I'm assuming because most people expect the typical 9-5 schedule. Most of the clerks who work the counter remind me of librarians; middle-aged or older, soft-spoken, and genuinely helpful to the point where many on line may get frustrated with their willingness to spend as much time as necessary to make sure their customer gets everything they need and understands everything they need to know about what they're getting. I've caught myself doing the same thing and have to remind myself that there's no reason to be angry with this type of service. Thy do seem to be quite stringent about their break schedule, I'm not sure if this is a union thing or not, but the employees will not jump behind a register if there's a huge line even when they're not doing anything. Again, this is nothing to fault them for even if it isn't an enforced union thing - the lines are always there, and if I were working there, I'd savor every minute of my break. The reason why I give it 4 stars - there's often a guy sorting mail behind the counter w/ headphones on who actually throws packages from a distance into sorting bins - not cool. read more

We bought a house on a new street - 12th Court. Many computers do not recognize the new street and automatically change it to 13th Court. Mail delivery has handled this without blinking - we haven't missed any piece of mail, ever! Lines are often longish at Caples, but move fairly well. Employees are nice to you if you are nice to them! I often go to the Brush Prarie branch to mail things - lines are very short - often none! read more

Worst experiences here. Crowded, smelly and the employees are HORRIBLE. They are rude and act so short with people and they act like you're such a bother even if you have a huge smile on your face. I work in customer service and I can't believe these people even have jobs! They are so stuck up and rush you through, if you have ANY questions or take a little bit of time on anything, they give you a disgusted look and I've actually been told to "hustle" getting my wallet or preparing something. I was with a friend today to mail a package for a family.The package needed to be sealed and my friend asked for a tape.The employee handed the tape to my friend with a cold look on her face and said "here,it's not my job". You can only pick up certified mail at one location one window DCU. Also if you live in an apartment you have to do this every time as they will not get your signature at you apartment. I am disabled and DON'T appreciated this service. At least allow us to go to our local post office. read more

We were supposed to have packages delivered to my aunts house as we are in the process of moving. I get a notice that the package has been delivered. I go out to check the mail, and whats that? Oh the key isn't even there for me to get. I tried calling the 800 number. I have tried calling the actual post office number and nothing, I get no one. Seriously fed up at this point. I don't even have a key to my own mailbox yet, because the person that put the new lock on there put the wrong lock on there to begin with. So now my management company has to fight with them to get the correct key. So thus my mail SHOULD be going to the mailbox that the package or letter states. I have lost so much mail because of this. There was a letter that I was supposed to get two weeks ago. My management company double checked that it was sent to the right address which it was. But I still haven't gotten it! It was supposed to be here two days after it was sent max. Nothing. I am so fed up with this. At this point I am having to wait until my husband gets off of work so that we can go down there and complain. This is insane. Literally if there was another way for me to get my mail I would take it and not use USPS at this point. read more

I've been coming here to ship packages since I first moved to Vancouver (1996). The staff people are friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to help. Except for a couple of employees that were there when we first started going here (and have since left) the staff have always treated me and my family with respect and kindness. The post office is one of the few bright spots in our government system. Their prices beat UPS and Fedex hands down, they have free boxes, package tracking, etc. Yes the building is kind of grungy and outdated, and it is in a not so great neighborhood. All the more reason to commend the people who work here day after day giving great service with a smile. read more

This is the absolutely worst service I've ever had with a postal office. I've lived at this residence for years and time and time again they have put slips that no one lives at this residence not only that I've had $1800 worth of phones sent to this address overnight and I cannot get in my box because they locked my box but just yesterday I can check my mail. I don't know why they allow carriers to make decisions that does not make sense and this does not benefit the customers not only that I have called down there 12 times within the hour and no one wants to answer so that means I have to get in my car load my children in the car and drive down to the location for solution That could be done over the phone which will be about 8 miles away do you think that this is OK and acceptable as A Postal Service with peoples information, Credit cards and so forth this is not OK I've had numerous neighbors that I've never met before bring me packages and important pieces of mail to my door that they have received in their box not only that they were open. If I can give a negative score to the stupid stupid postal office I definitely would they have not heard the last of this. read more

This location is horrendous - horrible wait times, staff with looks of contempt on their face at all times and more. Parking often doesn't exist, the lines are typically out the customer service area and in the entry/post office box area. Particular staff are difficult to understand - this combined with their rude "we do no wrong, it's always the customer's fault" make this location all the less pleasurable to visit. While this office is convenient to many, I highly recommend avoiding it. The Postal Service is becoming a thing of the past - everyone knows it - and the Caples office and its staff exemplify this daily. I have personally used USPS as little as possible after they literally lost all of my mail for two months during a simple two hour distant permanent change of address. Bravo for all those other great services out there filling in the blanks. And amen for email and fax machines - ! read more
