I moved from a one bedroom in west philly to a center city apartment- pretty simple. The guys showed up late ~ 20 minutes late. I met them in the parking lot of my building because they couldnt figure out how to park their MASSIVE moving truck on their own. I came down and they were smoking cigarettes next to their graffiti covered vehicle. It took them at least another 15 minutes to actually park and come up to my apartment...where they realized they forgot the dolly. So they went back to their truck and couldn't find it...because they forgot it. So now we are about 45 minutes past my start time and they begin moving things... My mom and I actually helped them bring boxes to the elevator to bring down because we were already so far behind schedule. The process would have been so much faster if they had not forgotten a dolly, and I would not have felt like I had to help because I was paying for them to carry one box at a time down my hallway. Matt had told me that the crew would be able to give me a ride to the new apartment, and when I asked them they laughed and said "ummm there isn't much room but if you don't mind smoking then fine" I hate smoking...so I got a cab. When I got to my new apartment they arrived more than 20 minutes after me...smoking again. I had asked Matt if I needed to get them a parking permit for my new street because I knew my location was zoned- he said no it was fine. Then of course the crew got a parking ticket and whined about that while they moved my stuff into the new apartment. They chipped the side of my dining room table and snapped the hanging wire on the back of a large piece of wall art. Nothing else was damaged. The whole day sucked. They were unprofessional and unprepared. I really don't enjoy paying people by the hour to smoke cigarettes. I called Matt towards the end of the process to let him know that I was displeased with the service, especially forgetting the dolly since I knew it added a lot of time to my move and required my mom and I to help. He tried to make things better by knocking a little bit off of my bill. But all in all the whole thing was terrible. I would NEVER use skybox again.

The movers were due to come at 3:00pm on Sunday. They called around 2:30pm to say that they were running late, approximately 15-20 minutes late. They eventually came at 4:00pm because there were tons of traffic. I was okay with it because they were straightforward and honest about it. Once they got here, they started moving the furniture that needed to be packed. My friend had an insane amount of furniture, that includes 2 beds, 3 couches, and 918273 drawers. (Okay not really but it felt like that). They were quick, professional, and efficient the whole time. Since they were working hard, and McDonald's was across the street, I grabbed them food and we took a break after loading all the furniture (I know I know, fast food is bad for you but it was across the street!). Once at the new place, I swear they performed a miracle or something. It was an enclosed staircase onto the second floor and whoever built the opening were not thinking straight because it was so damn small. The couches took forever to come up the stairs, and once it did, it took forever to get through the front door. For the third couch, they literally hoisted up over the railings in the front! I was amazed... and scared! They got everything in, the beds, couches, and 918273 drawers set to where we asked them to. They were very nice, very polite. Definitely did a solid job. I'm SO glad that my friend chose them to be his moving company because they definitely did not charge as much as other companies have quoted. With my first move in 2020, there was a bit of a scheduling issue, causing the movers to arrive later than originally scheduled and with a van rather than a truck (I had been told that it would be a truck in order to fit all of my belongings into one trip). Therefore, it ended up taking two trips. However, the owner made things right by only charging me the original rate for one trip. Mistakes happen and I'm fine with it, as long as the company owns up to it and makes it right. And there were no similar issues with my second move in 2026. The guys had furniture wrap and blankets to protect my belongings. During both moves, I did not find anything that was damaged at all. What more can you ask for!? I highly recommend Man With a Van! In fact, I'm likely going to use them again soon to help with some items that I will need to move into storage.

Man With A Van gave my friend two quotes: a cheaper quote for Two Guys with a Van and a more expensive quote for Three Guys with a Truck. My friend sent the more expensive rate for Three Guys with a Truck. But then this dispatcher tried the blame game of "You didn't specify Truck" when to our surprise only Two Guys and a Van showed up. Lemme ask you a question. If I offer you a hotdog for $3 and a burger for $4, and you hand me 4 dollars, wouldn't anyone with a working brainstem assume that meant YOU WANTED THE BURGER? But my friend was sweet and offered: "Maybe y'all can come back tomorrow with three guys and a truck, because it's really a three person job", to which the movers declined. After a quick call, the dispatcher said there'd be no additional charge for extra trips due to the smaller vehicle. What's more is that one of the two Movers had a bad back and couldn't take the stairs like the other dude. So at some points the job is only getting done by one dude (you could argue one-and-a-half dudes). If THREE guys should be able to make the move of loading and unloading in TWO hours, then HALF that much manpower means... you guessed it: it's gonna take at least twice as long! Not to mention they spent extra time stacking things like Jenga inside the van to make it all fit in one trip. Because the job (that my friend agreed to pay $500 for three guys and a truck) took so much longer with one and a half guys and a van, Paul upcharges an extra $300!! Again, my friend is nice, and they're trying to hash this out cause they didn't get what they paid for, regardless of it it took more time. (And again, of course less manpower means more time). But instead of having a conversation with my friend, Paul starts SCREAMING at them, cursing at them, saying "You're Full Of Sh*t!" and threatening legal action immediately! My friend is begging through tears that they want to make this right; begging him to STOP yelling and panicking them. The mover's felt so bad and embarrassed overhearing Paul act like a jack*ss on the phone that one even offered to pay the remainder, but my friend, still shook up and in tears, said that they wanted to make this right and moved what little money they have around to pay as much as they could. We're ALL struggling out here, and the movers def deserve to get paid. I'm sure the dude with the hurt back needs more money and easier hours, but the company is working him to the bone. But to have this dude Paul berate and coerce my friend, spitting venom over the phone? Shouting until my friend is begging in tears for him to stop? I'm never gonna forget that. And this company needs to make things right. The job took long because of Dispatch's mistakes. They sent 1.5 guys to do a 3 man job, without the agreed upon equipment no less. If you want a stress-free experience: steer clear. If you want some jerk from New York taking out his daddy issues on you: you've come to the right place.

My move last summer was so dreadful that as a new summer move season approaches, people should…read moreknow. One day was scheduled for packing and late in the afternoon the two packers decided it was the end of their work day, even though there was much more to pack. Their response as they left was, "The movers can finish packing." Outrageous. Olympia sent over two new packers the next day, but I also had to pitch in packing. The loaders were also bad, such as when they dropped a large wooden wall sculpture, breaking off a corner. They didn't tell anyone nor did they retrieve the broken piece for possible reattachment later. The damage wasn't discovered until delivery halfway across the country. The wall sculpture was ruined. There were also problems getting my sofa through doorways. The sofa and front door frame both sustained damage in moving the sofa out of the house. At the destination house I strongly suggested to the movers that the front door be removed prior to bringing in the sofa. They declined to do so and more damage to the sofa occurred as well as breaking off the original doorknob of the 1880 house. Those are some of the worst examples. Between the packers and the loaders, a disheartening amount of damage occurred to my contents, some of them antiques. I had expected, and believed I had paid for, better results. I will say that the move coordinator, Jennifer C., was excellent and worked hard to resolve problems. The moving van driver, Paul S., also clearly wanted to deliver excellent service, but was hobbled by poor helpers. Although their good reviews encouraged me to select Olympia, I had both bad packers and bad loaders. Other people have been luckier. But the outcome of your move shouldn't depend on luck. Also, at the destination, inspect your most valuable items for damage and record it on the Bill of Lading before signing it and returning it to the driver. It will be very difficult to collect for damages if you don't note damage at the time of delivery! One final word of advice: To minimize chances of damage to your biggest furniture, strongly consider removing your entrance doors before the movers arrive. They are very reluctant to do that, from my experience.
