My move last summer was so dreadful that as a new summer move season approaches, people should know. One day was scheduled for packing and late in the afternoon the two packers decided it was the end of their work day, even though there was much more to pack. Their response as they left was, "The movers can finish packing." Outrageous. Olympia sent over two new packers the next day, but I also had to pitch in packing. The loaders were also bad, such as when they dropped a large wooden wall sculpture, breaking off a corner. They didn't tell anyone nor did they retrieve the broken piece for possible reattachment later. The damage wasn't discovered until delivery halfway across the country. The wall sculpture was ruined. There were also problems getting my sofa through doorways. The sofa and front door frame both sustained damage in moving the sofa out of the house. At the destination house I strongly suggested to the movers that the front door be removed prior to bringing in the sofa. They declined to do so and more damage to the sofa occurred as well as breaking off the original doorknob of the 1880 house. Those are some of the worst examples. Between the packers and the loaders, a disheartening amount of damage occurred to my contents, some of them antiques. I had expected, and believed I had paid for, better results. I will say that the move coordinator, Jennifer C., was excellent and worked hard to resolve problems. The moving van driver, Paul S., also clearly wanted to deliver excellent service, but was hobbled by poor helpers. Although their good reviews encouraged me to select Olympia, I had both bad packers and bad loaders. Other people have been luckier. But the outcome of your move shouldn't depend on luck. Also, at the destination, inspect your most valuable items for damage and record it on the Bill of Lading before signing it and returning it to the driver. It will be very difficult to collect for damages if you don't note damage at the time of delivery! One final word of advice: To minimize chances of damage to your biggest furniture, strongly consider removing your entrance doors before the movers arrive. They are very reluctant to do that, from my experience. read more

It didn't look overtly damage from the outside, but then after the movers left, and I turned it on, it's clear that the inside was completely cracked as pictured. When I contacted customer service, I was directed to the claims department who notified me that would only be able to receive $48 In compensation, even though this is an $800 television. When I contacted them again to tell them this is not right, all they said was that there was nothing else they can do. Update: Ryan, the general manager, personally called in to talk about the issues that I had with the payment and customer service. He was very reasonable with me and it was very apparent from the conversation that he is interested in how Olympia can get better. Original: I do not recommend this company. Moving went okay (besides a few scratches on my desk and bed but they are to be expected during moves) but this company charged my card on file WITHOUT any notification a month after the moving was completed, and I had to deal with an agent who was rude and extremely passive aggressive rather than apologetic about the inconvenience they caused. At one point during the conversation, he asked me what more I wanted. Clearly, I do not want someone to withdraw $500 from my bank account without my authorization in the first place. There was not a single moment of "I am sorry about what happened" from any of the three reps I talked to to resolve the issue. Now I have to wait 5+ days to receive the portion they overcharged without notifying me. Also, the final moving cost exceeded what they initially quoted by $500 so do not be fooled by attractive quotes they give you. The onsite moving crew was disrespectful to our personal belongings (opening up packaged contents), disrespectful to our home (leaving garbage on a restroom countertop, opening windows, opening blinds), sales staff underestimated the truck size resulting in additional cost and time, truck elongated drive time to the destination in an effort to gain overtime. Management was unwilling to partner with us to come to an agreeable financial resolution and, instead, charged the credit card without authority. I moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado A very long interstate move that included storage for a month. All my dealings with Ryan and Candy were fantastic!! Ryan was great in getting back to me via email with all my questions answered. The driver who delivered the furniture was also great...took care of the floor and very professional and kept in touch with me about the delivery date. The only thing that was not 100% was the packing and the packers. They initially forgot 3 cabinets in the kitchen and other items and the pictures were not packed with enough paper. I used them for two moves, one from my large home into a small apartment with much of them things going into their storage. The first move ended up being problematic, although I didn't realize it until we moved again, from the apartment to another house, because many things were in storage with Olympia. My good dishes that I Inherited from my mother were chipped. They broke the drawer on my older, valuable desk. And I have mildew stains on a couple of the pictures they stored. And you cannot make a claim on the insurance unless you unpack within a couple of weeks. The move also took a long time; one of the men told me that one of the people did not show up on the last morning. I had to keep going room to room as they kept missing items That needed to be packed. On the positive side they were polite and responded to most of my requests. On the second move the foreman, Danny was wonderful and the move went quickly but there was much less to pack up. They did a good job putting together my furniture and were much more careful with the valuable furniture. The only problem was that they did not cover the wood stairs and damage the finish in a couple of place. read more

I could not have asked for a better move! My roommate and I were moving from the Boston area to Philadelphia, and Ryan Hegarty, the General Manager, worked very, very hard without any hesitation to ensure that everything went perfectly according to plan for our move to work out on time during the busiest time of the year. He and his crew could not have done a better job. It started with the pickup of our items on a Thursday (from two separate houses) in Massachusetts. Paul and Thomas were the two men moving our stuff on pickup day and they were right on time. They were so polite, friendly, and careful with all of our stuff. The way they wrapped all of our furniture with moving blankets and boxed all of our stuff, I would never have had to worry about anything breaking or getting scratched or damaged... I felt like they genuinely cared about my stuff as if it were their own. On Saturday morning, Ryan came out and delivered/moved in all of our stuff into the new apartment on the second floor on his own, being short a mover, but that didn't stop him from making sure it got done. He also helped assemble our furniture and make sure everything was in it's proper place. We moved from Media to Chestnut Hill PA this past October and used Olympia Moving and Storage to coordinate the move for us. Ryan was quick to assess our home and give us a quote and stayed in touch throughout the process. Our move in date was earlier than anticipated and we had some issues with where we could/could not put furniture due to construction/floors being refinished - meaning the move was more complicated than it should have been. We recently hired Olympia Moving after our realtor recommended them for a 50 mile move from one house to another. The process to get a quote was seamless with the virtual facetime option-- I walked the customer service rep through each room of the house and explained which items we were planning to move. I received the quote about a day later. The price was pretty average with other quotes I was receiving and comparing at the time. We decided to book them based on our positive experience so far and other positive reviews online. The day of the move, a team of 3 movers arrived 15 min early. We briefly walked through the house to show them everything. They worked quickly and efficiently. They tried really hard to get a couch out of the house, but due to the width of the narrow door frames, we decided to leave it. This set us back about 45 minutes, and they called a 4th mover to come help to stay on track. They apologized, but I honestly just appreciated their effort regardless. When we arrived at the new house (about one hour drive), they worked just as fast to unload everything. 4-stars because they accidentally dinged the wall moving one of the pieces of furniture inside and scuffed up the walls along the stairs-- nothing that can't be fixed with a magic eraser though. Olympia did an in town move for me last month. Overall the experience was very positive and I would recommend them to anyone looking to move in the greater Philadelphia area. They were professional, took good care of my belongings, and were up front. I would use them in the future. I thought the movers were professional, they worked hard and efficiently, and were very careful with my belongings. They were up front with me regarding extra charges, for example when they had to hoist three of my items because the items could not fit down the stairs. The office staff was equally pleasant to work with. Their payment and processing system went smoothly, and they checked in with me multiple times during the process to make sure everything was satisfactory. I even had some questions after the fact and they were very responsive and attentive to me. The only thing I would recommend is that you are very clear about how many items you have to move and what the moving situation will be like in both the origin and destination (flights of stairs, how close the truck can be parked to the entrance) so that they can give you as accurate an estimate as possible. I called this company because a friend used them twice for moves and had great experiences. I called and spoke to Patrick Sipera and was given a quote which I excepted and was passed to a customer rep who was very responsive. During the move 2 items where broken and a bed was dissembled and reassembled incorrectly. Received an invoice for over the quoted amount which included 2 pickup locations 1 pick up location was removed on moving day therefore only 1 pickup and drop off. Called left message no response, called again asked for Patrick he was leaving for a long weekend and asked me to allow time to review and he would get back to me which he never did. I had to call back at which time he was apologetic and said he would review and get back to me. He stated that there were more boxes than he quoted however, he quoted mirror boxes and misc and since we didn't use he would be crediting our account $100. This has been 3-4 weeks ago and no credit. I called and left message for Patrick no response. Today I left a message with our customer rep let's hope she calls me back. I am aware quotes are quotes however, I provided all information pertaining to the items that would be moved. read more

These guys are strong! But also careful, responsible, respectful, easy-going but hard-working ( a combination that's tough to find ). They did a move for me that was crazy hard. Believe it or not, they moved a whole glass studio-- about a ton (literally) of glass, and little tiny pieces and fragile rods. Incredible, but they did it, with no complaints. Not to mention the quarter-ton concrete fireplace surround and the closet sized antique armoire! Everything was packaged carefully. They all work together really well. My local move with Olympia went very well. This was the first time I'd used a moving service and was impressed with the care the moving team took with my belongings. I opted to pack the majority of my items myself, but needed them to disassemble and reassemble a bed alongside heavy furniture (including a vanity with a mirror, and four glass-top tables!). The three man moving team worked very efficiently and I was fully unloaded at my new home (with all items intact/undamaged) less than 5 hours from the time they arrived at my old home. Olympia moving and storage was moving my 5 bedroom home from philadelphia to NC. They were they local mover for Wheaton Van lines. I was surprised when they only sent 3 guys to pack, one guy was definitely brand new and did not speak English. That's a problem when he's being asked to pack something and doesn't because he doesn't speak the language. It was to be a 2 day pack job but these guys started talking about how they would be done in a day. By noon on the second day when they realized they were going to be there all day as estimated, they started rushing and the packing deteriorated. At the end of the packing I was asked to fill out paperwork that Wheaton stated was to be given to me by the driver AFTER everything was loaded on the truck, which loading had not even started. Loading was the next day. The packer called his boss who also tried to get me to sign the paperwork. I told them we needed a walk thru so I could see that everything was packed. They said 'after the paperwork', which doesn't make sense. An hour later, I signed only part of their paperwork and they rushed out. No walkthru! There was stuff all over my house that had not been packed. The next day they sent a driver and 2 small young men (both brand new on the job) to load our house. They told me it was going to take 2 days because of the small crew. It was only supposed to be one day loading, with 4 guys and a driver. The driver, who was super nice, told me I'd better call Olympia because he and his guys were not going to pack up all that had not been packed, which included mattresses, a TV, clothes, and much more. I'm giving them 2 stars because the packers were polite and courteous on day 1 and the driver and loaders were super nice and courteous even though they put stickers on the front of my furniture instead of the back. And because Olympia sent more guys later in the day to finish packing and help load. I bought lunch all 3 days for the guys, provided water and Gatorade and tipped the loaders. Everyone worked hard while they were here, but Olympia did not assign enough men for the job, sent too many newbies to one job, and tried to coerce me into paperwork with some "call the boss" scam.
