Wow! So happy I read the reviews here before going for my 3,000 mile oil change…read more I have a Subaru Forester and called them to make a reservation. No reservations needed just come on in. They close at 6 and I asked them if I could come by 4:45? Sure! Their waiting room is nice and clean with a coffee machine and water cooler. So they started working on the car immediately and told me that my car recommendations are synthetic oil, more expensive than regular. I asked them how much? They said $92 and I could change the oil every 5,000 miles instead of 3,000 if I bought the regular. They also said they can use regular oil which would not really make a difference, that's all they had to do was change the viscosity and that would be $52. I decided to go with my car recommendation and chose the $92. After a half hour it was done. Total price $92. That included oil change oil filter change to off all fluids and put air in all 4 tires because the low tire light was on. They said I didn't need to change my air filter because it was fine. Honesty is very important to me and I was impressed they didn't change the air filter when it didn't need to be changed. I think most other places would have. I will be in 5000 miles for sure!! I nursed to the nearest exit, and when I asked a guy who happened to be at the gas station what he thought, he and I agreed - best see a mechanic! He recommended BJ from Becker's, even though his specialty is transmissions, and this was clearly not a transmission issue. How lucky I was, to be referred to a shop owner and his assistant, Benny, who went so far above and beyond the call that they deserve not 5, not six, but TEN stars in the Yelp ratings scale. I was offered such hospitality as having one of their guys drive up to the local shops to get me a cup of coffee, a spot in their small office to set up my laptop and comfortably work online, allowance for my dog Teddy, and interesting conversation tidbits every so often as BJ would pop in to let me know the wait time before they would get to my van. He apologized for not being quicker! They quickly diagnosed the issue(alternator, bearings were brunt toast!) and explained everything to me - showing me the new alternator and the spot where I would see the wear on the old one, and then the old one once it was out. No down-talking to me as a woman who wouldn't care about or understand such things. Then, they took a real act of kindness and went over the van to make sure I was in the best condition possible for my journey. At no extra charge(and the alternator replacement was not an overcharge at all). They knew I was in poor financial shape, and not only did they not take advantage of me, they availed themselves beyond anything one would expect from a business. To top it off, BJ let me know that if I had any problems with the van and felt a mechanic might not be giving me straight information, to call him and explain what was going on; that he would be sure I understood the situation, and if need be, that the mechanic trying to put one over understood the situation - that no customer of his(Becker's) was going to be taken advantage of! This is just a small shop in a small town, and not all fancy-schmantzy like some people might want. But the guys at Beckers are honest, diligent and hard-working people who do top notch work!

This month it says "starting at $75.00". This time I told them up front that I didn't want any of the extras like, air filters, windshield wipers or oil additives. So they just tacked on an extra $5.00 "shop fee" saying it is included with the service. So I guess the sign should read "Oil changes Finished at least $80.00". It just feels slimy going to this place and you leave wondering what they really did under your car.

They dug a little deeper and discovered a nest inside the system that was blocking the drain. They spent over an hour fixing the problem, getting completely soaked in the process. This trail, depending where you begin, either starts or ends on the campus of Shippensburg…read moreUniversity. That's where I started. There is a parking lot attached to the bottom of an elevated building. This is where I parked. The building offers bathrooms and a rotating information screen that provides information about local places of interest as well as ads. The trail is located just past that. A train car from the old railroad that the trail follows sits right near the beginning. This car was restored and now features a museum with old railroad memorabilia, timelines and videos inside. It is free to the public and is open from dawn until dusk. Considering it is unattended and maintained by the University, I was surprised with how great the shape of it is. It seemed like a legit, albeit small, museum. The first mile of the trail is paved. It runs through wooded areas that are just outside Shippensburg University buildings on one side and town spots on the other. The trail crosses over a pretty cool bridge and goes under a small underpass. At the one mile mark there is a park with pavilions, a play area, restrooms and wide open fields. I'd love to return sometime when it is a bit warmer to explore more sections of the 12ish mile long trail.
