They didn't tell us we would be required to have yearly inspections, but when we found out a year later, we did it. It was costly. The following year, since their yearly inspection and maintenance costs were so expensive, we specifically asked them if it would hurt our warranty if we went somewhere else for our maintenance that had to be kept up once a year in order to maintain the warranty. They assured us it would be fine to get it maintained elsewhere, that it won't affect our warranty at all. What they didn't tell us was as soon as we did that, our life-time guaranty with them -- with Addcox -- was considered void. We found out just now, after 3 1/2 years, that, "Oh, well, your units are no longer guaranteed with us because you went somewhere else for your yearly inspection and maintenance." Wow. Really? How convenient for them. They should have been upfront. I feel I was lied to.

I am very happy with the job they did and the technicians have been very knowledgeable and very nice. I would be happy to have them back. Our heating has been on again off again for awhile. My wife contacted Alpine on a Wednesday, and…read morethey gave us an appointment time on Thursday. The technician showed up on time, and even gave a heads up call 15 minutes before he arrived. The techinican was CJ. I explained the multiple things going wrong with the heat pump and emergency heat, what worked sometimes, and what didn't work, and how things were intermittent. CJ was very attentive and listened carefully. He went to work and explained things to me as he went through his troubleshooting. It turns out there were two things wrong inside: 1) a sequencer for the emergency heat coils was malfunctioning partially sometimes and not working at all other times 2) a safety switch that is triggered when backflow occurs had stopped working, which turned the heat pump off. Outside, the unit was low on freon so he pumped in 4.5 pounds, along with a dye so that when he comes by in two weeks he can use a light to see where the leak(s) may be. Our heating works like it is supposed to now, and I am confident everything will continue to work, and CJ will come back it two weeks and wrap things up. CJ knows his stuff and is an expert in his trade.
