First of all, I received multiple, professional, friendly reminders of our appointment and Jacob was not just punctual but out of his truck inspecting our home's exterior when I pulled up (I was a minute late!). I cannot overstate how comfortable I was having him check out my house but also how honest he was with his assessments of our needs. Jacob did not try to sell us on projects or products/services; he was straight-up and honest with what he thought would have the most impact for our home. They scheduled the appointment for this morning to inspect my house. I received a call 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment saying Brian would be 45 minutes late. Although that messed up my schedule, I said it was okay. There were things I could have gotten done earlier if I hadn't planned on being here at 10:000 for the appointment scheduled by Idaho Insulation. Brian texted at the rescheduled time saying he was still 45 minutes away. I told him I would be leaving at noon (which gave him a bit over an hour) and that if he could make it by then, fine; if not, no need to reschedule. He responded that I should probably find someone else. Apparently he didn't trust himself to live up to his own revised timing estimate and didn't want to waste his time after already wasting mine. Since this was my first and only experience with Idaho Insulation, I can only assume this is typical of their service. Now I'm over a week down the road and have to start the process all over again with another company. I had hoped to have received an estimate and ordered service today.

He also noted where the tenting over the new water lines was incorrect/poorly done, as well as some missing insulation on an outer wall near those pipes. His guys came in and sorted everything out, added the new insulation in record time AND left the area as clean as they found it. I appreciated the friendly, rapid, and professional service. Chase did the estimate and gave me a very good price. I priced out the materials and it would cost me more to do it myself. His techs were friendly and efficient. The entire job was completed in 1 day! I have already noticed that on a hot day the upstairs is now only 1 degree hotter than downstairs. Just last week it was 6 degrees hotter! I'm a believer!

I hired Four Seasons to seal air leaks throughout my home, add blown-in insulation to the attic,…read moreand install a solar attic fan. With the tax credits, the price seemed reasonable and I was excited to have the help since I was getting burnt out on constant home improvement projects since moving in. The work was supposed to take most of the day to complete and I took an hour off work in the morning to let the crew in and show them around. On the day the work was scheduled, the crew showed up an hour late so I had to take additional unscheduled time off work even though I had already burned an hour of leave. Off to a bad start. Quinn, the salesperson who scheduled the work, called me to apologize and told me that he would discount the work by $100 to make up for the inconvenience. This made me feel better for a little while, until Chase (the owner) later told me that Quinn had over-promised and they wouldn't be honoring the verbal discount. When I got home that evening, I walked through the house and went down the list of things that were included in the bid: seal windows, bathroom fans, duct boots, recessed lighting, add weatherstripping and attic insulation. The caulk work around the windows wasn't continuous and I had to scrape caulk off my kitchen floor. Several windows hadn't been caulked at all. I checked the bathroom fans. One of them had been sealed, but the other had not. The other work was completed as promised. When Quinn came back to perform the post-audit (5 weeks after the work was performed), we walked through the house and I showed him the areas that had been missed. He agreed that the work was incomplete and scheduled the work to be completed the following week (6 weeks after the original appointment). After the crew came out to do the followup work, I found that one window and one bathroom fan still hadn't been sealed. I pointed these out to Chase when he came to do a walkthrough 2 weeks later (8 weeks after the original appointment). The crew came out again 4 weeks later (12 weeks after the original appointment) to finish the caulk work, and did indeed apply caulk to the window that had been missed as well as adding additional caulk to some of the windows that had already been sealed - but this time they used silicone caulk instead of painters caulk, so I'll need to scrape all of that off next time we paint. I'm very disappointed in the quality of work and in the length of time it took to get this company to simply check off the items on the bid. On top of that, they created an uncomfortable situation by asking on 3 separate occasions for me to sign the "Completion Certificate" from Foundation Finance, promising that they would still come out and finish the work even after I signed it. The Certificate says right on it: "Home repair contractors are prohibited by law from requesting or accepting a certificate of completion signed by the owner prior to the actual completion of the work to be performed under the home repair contract." Chase and Quinn are both great salesmen, but if you work with this company in the future, make sure you double check the actual work before calling it a day.
